My friends and I visited this guitar center to simply pick up a piece of equipment for a sound system, and I picked up a guitar and started playing/singing at what was agreed by us AND passers-by at a normal, non-intrusive volume. An employee came by and said ver batim, "hey buddy, not trying to be a hater, but let's cut the karaoke, you're being loud." Now, I'm all for gentle reminders about noise, but multiple people agree that this was not a concerning level of volume, and the tone, choice of words, and implication were both impolite and inappropriate. It was even more frustrating knowing that there were actual bands in the store doing the exact same thing with no interruption from the employees. We did not buy anything from this store, and will only return again should we decide we'd like to be reprimanded for doing what the store is literally designed for. My only regret is that I did not find out this definitely being a hater's name. read more

I came in strictly for gift cards. It was my first time inside the store. It looks pretty dated inside. However, it was neat listening to customers testing out the instruments while I waited in line. They seem to have an extensive inventory. I only noticed 2 employees. They were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. read more

Customer service is not good here. I was asking for some specific microphones and the staff was rude. They were not even trying to answer my questions. Their attitude was very rude. Needed a new electric guitar for my son, who attends the local school of the arts. Browsed online and found that this location had the model we wanted in stock. Went there, found the guitar on the rack, and tried to test it out but it was hard to hear it well because there was a group of teens nearby who were jamming with amps on blast. Plus, there was no one around to help us. So, we paid for the guitar and took it home, where it was quiet enough to notice issues with the sound. We immediately took it back to the store to ask about it, and when a staff member tried to plug it into an amp, it appeared that someone had cut power to all of the amps because none of them would power up. Thus, we could not demonstrate the issue to anyone there. The last straw was when I asked if they could service any issues with the guitar that I had just purchased and was told that the manager said that guitars are sold "as-is." If I had known this, I would not have bought the guitar there in the first place. Giving stars only because the cashier and some of the other staff were nice. read more

Last thing you want to do is damage a expensive Guitar. So, you go to Guitar Center and buy a case to protect it. When I go somewhere, OH darn, the case has straps to carry it like a backpack, but when I used them the clip breaks and there goes the Guitar, "CRASH on the ground" I am not happy right now. This happened on Monday. Today is Friday and I just picked up my Guitar after getting it repaired. I went to Guitar Center expecting a run around. I met the store manager Bret. Turns out to be a really good manager and he was so sorry for my problem. He stood behind his product and helped me get a case that works. He has my business from now on. I have gone to Guitar Center for 2 decades, usually buying from the guitar side of the store. I switched over to piano about a year ago. I went in the the piano side of the store to upgrade to a better keyboard. looking around there was no one there to help me, I started looking at the various keyboards on display and I tickled the keys on several. I found one I thought I would like it was about $800 bucks or so. I took a seat and started playing it. About 40 seconds later the the piano was turned off remotely. Now I realize I'm not Philip Westly, but I think if someone were in the market for a new piano, he would naturally want to play it first. you know, check it out a bit. my take is the guys there are not good at selling. So my advice is, go somewhere else to buy a piano. you probably will be more pleased with your buying experience. read more

Sergio deserves a raise!!! Came in for a repair because the dude who previously owned my fender messed with it under the hood and Sergio the guitar tech had it ready for me in a few days and was extremely helpful and he also threw in a re string and gave me advice and reccomendations on what gauge to use and I found something comfortable and a few recommendations when I just wanted a repair. he had my guitar sounding amazing and explained what he did to fix it. This review goes out to the Repair Department. I brought my Epiphone les Paul in for some wiring problems. The Lead Technician, Sergio, was the guy who received my guitar. After plugging into one of the stores Amps and testing it out, he gave me his guess on what was causing the problem. I picked it up a few days later on time and now it plays as good as new. Sergio is really passionate about guitars and his work. He understood the sentimental value of my 12 year, 100-dollar guitar. He not only gave me options on what kind of repairs he could do, but was happy to recommend good upgrades when I asked. I'll definitely be bringing him any future guitars in for tune-ups or repairs. Really like this location. Have purchased a lot of keyboard, PA and recording equipment here. The guys in Pro Audio are generally very knowledgeable. They have a great selection of recording hardware and software inhouse, although most higher end mixing boards are special orders. I usually ask for Stu. The other great thing about this location is they do rentals for sound equipment and lighting. Everything you need for up to a medium size venue of maybe 500 people. Above that, maybe have to go to a larger company like VER. But I've been very happy with what they have. The rental manager is Tony and he's very knowledgeable about sound mixing, recording, mic placement techniques, etc. read more

First of all, Guitar Center has been the gold standard for quality musical equipment in the LA/OC area ever since they first opened their doors on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. Then, they expanded their stores around So. Cal. and across the country. They all serve a great purpose of getting musical equipment into the hands of musicians. I am saying this because this review is not so much based on Guitar Center, on the whole, but on this one particular store. This store is not bad. As I see it, the problem with this shop is that it is fairly limited in what they have on-hand -- at least in comparison to most of the other Guitar Centers. Whereas most local Guitar Centers have tons-and-tons of equipment: including new, used, and vintage guitars, basses, keyboards, effects, and amps, this particular location is fairly limited in what they have on-hand. Sure, as they are a Guitar Center they could order in anything you need from another store or their distribution center but, in many ways, that takes away a lot of the fun. You want to go into a Guitar Center, see something new, and decided to buy it on the spot. Or, you go in because you know what you want and expect they will have it on-hand because you want it NOW. This store is somewhat lacking in what they to fulfill those needs. This Guitar Center is located in a high-end strip mall type of environment, so parking is easy as the shops are attached to a large parking lot. Getting here, if you don't know where it is, can be a little tricky, but just turn on your GPS. The store is clean, spacious, and the staff is nice. Overall not a bad place, just not overly stocked full of equipment like many of the other Guitar Centers in the area. read more

What's not to love about a music store? Tons of products to demo and play with - it's awesome. Now, for those that want to actually buy something, it can be a bit of a challenge if they are busy - or even if they are slow. With only so many people working there, and the time it takes per customer to fully explain items and let people make an educated guess, it can be a wait if you know what you want. Of course, while you wait, you can totally play around! To date, I haven't been steered wrong with any of their product recommendations once I've spoken with someone. They have a decent credit card if you pay it off within the interest free time period which varies depending on the total charged. If you don't pay it off, the interest rate will kill you. read more

If you want a less than great experience, order something online from guitar center! We ordered a Christmas gift for our son back on 12/19/21 with a 12/22 expected deliver date, which never arrived. Guitar Center is taking no responsibility and are now passing the buck to UPS after it has been under investigation for 10 days. Still no resolution 20 days after the initial order. At this point, I just want my order, but calling customer service, talking to them through messenger and email has got us nothing but lip service. I will never buy anything from this company again. We'll likely need to do charge back with the credit card company and reorder through Amazon, which we should have done in the first place! Update 1/14 - Well for those who have seen my previous posts we are still fighting with Guitar Center on an order we placed before Christmas! After 10 days of not receiving it they told us was an a UPS issue and would need to investigate, but would it take up to 10 business day. 10 business days came and went and I PM'd them to which they gave me an 800 number and said to call and they would resend the order. My wife then called and spoke to someone who said they would need to investigate further but would have it resolved by today 1/14. Well, as you can imagine, she called today and surprisingly they still haven't figured it out and can't send a replacement until a "supervisor" looks at it. If you've read my previous post you'll noticed that I asked to speak to a supervisor nearly 3 weeks ago and was denied. These people are playing games! Don't spend your money at this place! They are completely incompetent. Spend the extra $20 and buy from Amazon or Sweetwater where you'll be taken care of. This is the last time I ever do business with Guitar Center. read more

Gotta say, thoroughly impressed. Customer service is on point. Came on a Monday night to buy drum sticks and pad for son who's starting. Drum room had couple dudes killing couple of the drum sets, and no employee in sight. Thought one of the drummers was an employee- thought I saw nametag, but turned out to be dude from buffalo wild wings. Anywho, went back to main area and waited in line. Less than minute later, guy asks what I need and when I say drums, he promptly tells me he'll be in there quickly. I headed back over, and he was over as soon as he finished with the guy he was helping. Dude was tall and had long dark curly hair and was super cool, knowledgeable, and gave me some good recommendations, answered questions, and explained differences- basically on point. Didn't get his name, but if I do I'll update here and give him a shout out. I think it's cool they let those teenage boys screw around on the drums and not get uptight about it. Overall, cool vibe and def recommend for all your music instrument needs... oh they are a tad pricey tho. I could've bought online for about 20% less, but I needed asap for son's bday next week. read more

I purchased a guitar online as a Christmas gift and it was nothing but a waste of time. The tracking info showed the guitar being delivered to the location on 12/20, but I did not receive an email from the store to come pick it up. After inquiring about the order status and getting nowhere with an employee on their chat feature, I sent an email through the Guitar Center website and received a call assuring me that the guitar was at the store and that I could pick it up that day. When I went to the store on 12/23 I was told they did not have the order. As it was a gift I asked if they had a comparable guitar in stock that I could exchange it for, which they did not seem interested in doing, and they claimed they could not refund my money as the order was still processing. The employee I worked with did not seem at all concerned and just kind of shrugged and said I should come back in the morning when the manager is there. By this point there was no way I was going to go through that again and I gave up on getting the guitar in time for Christmas. I was able to get someone with Guitar Center via email to authorize a refund for the purchase, but the bottom line is they dropped the ball and I never got as much as a "sorry dude" out of it. I have had frustrating experiences with this store before - being handed a floor model guitar when I had paid for something new or waiting at the curbside pickup location and having no one show up - but this was the end of the line. It wasn't an expensive item, but it would have meant a lot to the person I was buying it for. You'd be better off buying from Sweetwater. P.S. Teach your employees to answer the phone. read more

You can walk in here on any given day and find an empty department and wait there for an hour and no one will help you. I have met a handful of helpful guitar center employees in my lifetime, but for the most part they hire incompetent posers with very little knowledge of the gear they sell. Overall a bad company. Firstly, I need to clarify that I am not a musician. I can hardly whistle while I work (much less while I breathe), so skip this review if you're looking for musical input. Customer service could be described as "lukewarm" at best. This place feels like a warehouse, and it probably is the goal of this one-stop-shop. You pay a premium for convenience and you sacrifice service for time saved. Taking these notes into account, I'll say that I do appreciate convenience when I know what I'm looking for and am target oriented, so I'm assuming that if I were a musician looking for specific items and needing answers to specific questions, then this store would be ace. However, since I'm purely a spectator, my observations will be skewed to the more ignorant shopper. Inventory is impressive, though I'm not sure what constitutes an impressive display. The variety in guitars and the sheer numbers caught my interest along with the surprising amount of equipment used in recording. So though I don't know much at all about guitars, I enjoyed myself here and would probably come back out of curiosity. It's obvious that I'm not a performer or musical hobbyist so it's fine that the staff didn't acknowledge me when I walked in, but there is a chance that I'll be visiting for gift reasons so that's when I'll update with something more useful. For now, 4 stars from a non-participating standpoint. read more

Disappointing experience. A few months ago I got a gift card at this store. Soon after, I used it to buy a pedal on the Guitar Center website, but they ended up canceling my order because the pedal was no longer available. I checked my gift card balance and it was empty. Great. So I got a hold of customer service and they said that the money was not refunded to my gift card, but to my "account" (I don't have a GC account), and that to access it, I would have to call them to place an order manually, or visit a store. That was already a pretty poor experience. That was a few months ago. Tonight I went to the store and explained the situation. The guy looked up my name and simply says there's no account for me. I asked if he could look up the order somehow, perhaps using the original gift card. He eventually finds it and verifies that the money is, in fact, in my GC account. But guess what... I can't use it, because the money is only valid on the website. Great. I got the gift card in your store!!! The guy was apologetic, but, up until that point, not at all friendly. The whole experience, both the online order / cancellation, and trying to access my money in store, has been really frustrating. As far as I'm concerned, the gift card is gone. It's just not worth dealing with Guitar Center anymore. read more

The times I've visited this branch, I've never had any problems. They're friendly, they're not pushy, pretty much doing what they're supposed to do. In case you're wondering about GC's reputation for having incompetent guitar techs, look no further to this branch! Ask for Sergio Vega, dude is friendly, accomodating, and pretty straightforward with ya. He will ask you if you need something else done, not just because he wants the most money out of you, but because he can tell your guitar needs it. Best day to come is early Tuesdays as that is usually slower, but as long as he's there, he'll take care of you. He is most definitely one of the most competent techs out there, which is really rare at a GC branch. Give him a try on your next guitar project that you have, and send him some referrals. read more

This store is horrible. The staff is mean and rude. The "customer service manager" is a genuinely mean person who has absolutely no business working with people. The store is obviously going out of business as they have almost zero stock, they are obviously not restocking the store in any way. They force people to wait outside in the heat while one or two people enter the store at a time, which is laughable because the store is very large. The manager was horribly mean and uncaring. I will never step foot in this store again, but it's clear why they are going out of business. Prices are cheaper online and you don't have to deal with the inept employees. read more

There were several very helpful employees. I came in here to buy one or two things and ended up leaving with a new guitar, guitar case, guitar strap, and guitar tuner. I came here to get a mic and case for my daughters guitar. But then I saw we could just buy a new one that wasn't a hand me down from her great uncle. She was excited to look and feel around for the perfect acoustic electric guitar. Then the perfect fit and durable case wasn't hard to find. Since we had gone this far I told her she might as well give this guitar its own strap. The tuner was to replace the other one that had broken. I almost bought an amp too but she had to check and see how it sounded with the guitar first. So there you have it. Oh and make sure to check inside any boxed items and make sure it's what you wanted. We almost walked out with the wrong guitar case because the box was mislabeled. The bonus was that I got a refund immediately because the case we wanted was a little cheaper. read more

Donovan is the ONLY reason I spend hundreds of $$$ here. No one like Donovan. 5/5! What can I say? There is no other staff like Donovan. What would guitar center be without Donovan? I won't even go to Guitar Center unless he is working there. A few other staff members I've encountered in the past carry about an ego about themselves - perhaps it's their own way to look cool and casual but it just seems pretentious. But! Donovan goes out of his way for his customers. He listens attentively and does not show any bias or prejudice against any customer. While I was being helped, I watched him deal with many customers and his kindness is consistent regardless of who he was talking to. He doesn't judge or condemn a person because their lack of knowledge of musical systems, and so opening up is easier. Very conversational, very relatable. His rapport with other employees was excellent. Definitely a team player who does not step on anyone's toes - rather proves to be a valuable asset. His versatility and familiarity with systems knowledge was impeccable. When a situation arose he always had a solution, and the speed at which he processed orders even for items not in store were unparalleled. Donovan as a salesperson is unmatched. He's the kind of guy that will always cause someone who walks in to buy stuff - not because he pushes products onto customers, but because his problem solving skills presents the customer with a variety of affordable options. Smart guy who thinks on his feet, doesn't get overwhelmed when there are many people to help simultaneously, easy to talk to, therefore easily sells products. Guitar Center needs more people like Donovan. read more
