Brought in a used Martin 000-16GT I picked up at Guitar Center since it had some buzzing on the strings. Jon did a great job with the setup, adjusted the truss rod, shaved down the saddle to get the action right, and let me know what kind of condition the guitar was in. Daughter wanted to try taking up guitar, so I bought a used 3/4 scale acoustic off Marketplace. It was in good shape, but like a lot of used guitars, it needed some work. I took it to Jon and asked if he could help set it up so that it would be easier for her to play. He cleaned it up, put on lighter gauge strings, adjusted the neck relief, and sanded the saddle to lower the action. Now it looks and plays beautifully! I requested a consultation regarding an acoustic guitar I recently inherited. I wasn't sure if I should invest in the instrument or just restring and play it as it is. Jon agreed to take a look. Right away he understood what I was after and talked me through what the issues are with the guitar. He helped me understand that restringing was the way to go, as the level of effort needed to fix the main issues with the instrument wasn't really warranted by potential payoffs in tone or playability. He recommended a specific set of strings and gave meaningful advice around what to expect should I put playing time into it. After playing it for a little while I realized that it needed its action adjusted so I decided let Jon do the action on this new baritone uke. He did a great job! Took it to a well known guitar shop in Laguna Beach. They did make it play and sound better but not what I had hoped for.
