I actually don't think GC is the devil who puts little guys out of business, as much as they are idiots stuck in the old days who just don't realize that the cymbals they are selling for $200, you can get on eBay for $120, so why would you not ?? GC is for desperate musicians who want the stuff RIGHT NOW FOR TONIGHT MAN, OR WHATEVER LIKE THAT AND STUFF. My main problem w/GC though is just the unpleasant jerks who work in the drum department. Musicians (like athletes) , in general, have a problem thinking that they're something special & amazing. They have no customer service skills, and they try WAAY too hard to play the part of the punk-kid, rock-band, "yeah man or whatever and stuff"-talking types of idiots they usually serve., than to be able to recognize when a regular, well spoken, educated man walks in the store and just wants a $40 splash cymbal. Huh? are you crazy? man you need one of these (quote some obnoxiously priced "meinl" being played by rock punks). Long story short, unless you're an obssessive, 24/7 musician who comes in dressed in full Punk-costume, talking like you struggled with 3rd grade and being just as Cool as Ever, they will not treat you very well. Ask a question and they just return a blank stare. I just think in a way it's a really low class place where everyone is trying way too hard to be super pretentious, which is just an offense to anyone who is above that kind of nonsense. It wouldn't be so bad (and even expected) if it didn't INCLUDE the salespeople. Can they just drop the act and answer my question about why they sell as "new" a big display of splash cymbals that have beat-up edges and visible dents??? Like seriously , people, what other business in the world actually sells only the display models that everyone has hit - how stupid are ya??? I'll tell you what GC is great for. Go hit all their cymbals, beat 'em up good (they like to sell them that way anyway), get an idea of what you like and what the highest possible retail price - err, I mean GC's price - on it is. then, log on to eBay and get it for 2/3 of that from a top rated seller. k'ching. read more

I recently had an outstanding experience at the Guitar Center of Tempe while purchasing a Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured Cobalt Burst guitar. The customer service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was incredibly helpful and deeply knowledgeable about the equipment they were showcasing--it's clear they're all passionate musicians themselves. I hit a snag when the original guitar I was interested in didn't come with the correct case. Shane, one of the team members, was upfront and honest about it, which I really appreciated. He teamed up with the floor manager, Nick, and together they showed incredible recovery skills in finding a solution. They sourced a guitar from another state that met all my needs perfectly, sending me photos the next day to confirm it was exactly what I wanted. Without their dedication, I would've walked away from Guitar Center and taken my business elsewhere in the future. Shane, Nick, and the entire team's expertise and commitment turned a potential dealbreaker into a fantastic buying experience. I can't recommend the Guitar Center of Tempe enough--especially if you want staff who genuinely care about getting you the right gear. Five stars! read more

Pretty standard shopping experiences here. I find it's usually best to do most of your homework on products before purchasing. Of course, being a large national chain, they will have good selection of a wide variety of gear, but sometimes not the most specialized/boutique type stuff. They used to allow for a bit more wheelin and dealin with their sales, which helped when buying the higher priced stuff, but it seems they have taken away the flexibility of their sales people. Still a good place for the smaller last minute stuff like cables, etc. Glad they have curbside pickup. Got a good pair of Pioneer DJ headphones for my nephew and at least I know if they were defective I should have no problem bringing them back to any Guitar Center location. read more

He went above and beyond to help me get this instrument and I guess it's now surprise that most of the times I've been there he's always working hard helping customers. I've been buying Guitars online for three years now. Guitar Center Scottsdale listed a used black Fender Esquire GT for sale in "excellent" condition and I bought it via the internet. Got the guitar last week and it was covered in scratches and had paint chips down to bare wood on the back. the guitar was in "fair" condition at best. don't trust Guitar Center Scottsdale Arizona - rip off factory. I would not recommend buying any used guitars from GC Scottsdale. read more

I work in the service industry so I can say this with confidence, people need to start looking for nice things to say over bad. With that being said we had a fabulous experience with Guitar Center. I came in to purchase a digital piano, I just didn't know which one I wanted. I was in there for 20 minutes playing all of the different pianos and not a single person said hello or can I help you. I even had an associate walk by me (not helping anyone else) without saying anything. There were a handful of associates just sitting around on their phone. I always have a good experience when I come to this location. Their customer service is top notch. I am a beginning guitarist and I never had a problem returning or exchanging things due to my rookie mistakes. Brian, in accessories, is amazing. 4 star due to not having more help. They got it all though. Look for the deals in the back audio section for marked down and daily sales. They let you try out most of the equipment. Of course, the cables/adaptors/connectors are expensive-but that's due to it being manufactured in China and Japan. read more

Could have a better selection, deducted a couple stars because I have gotten slightly, very slightly damaged products, but they always make it right.
