I wanted to know which would be more helpful and was informed that giving platelets would be more helpful, however, it would take 1.5 to 2 hours. I had the time so I opted to donate platelets. Once I went to the donation chair everyone was super nice and accommodating making sure I had drinks and snacks to keep me comfortable. The process did take 2 hours but I left knowing I would want to donate again and would return to this location.

I went to sign up again after a long pause in donating, and was told I didn't qualify anymore because I live in an RV park, it's considered "a business" so I didn't qualify. I'm unsure why living in an RV park doesn't qualify a person to donate, many people live like this, I think they should re examine their stance on this. I don't like apartment living, or cohabitating with a housemate, this is an option that many have taken in recent years due to the cost of housing in all of its forms. I've lived like this for 3 years, it's safe, peaceful, has wonderful amenities, and fits my budget. I encourage Biomat to change this one aspect of donor qualification, it seems archaic to disqualify people living in an rv park from donating, it's discriminatory.

From check-in till the time I finished was a 45 minute process. The staff here are so so kind! Everyone is super friendly and have great attitudes. They're always cleaning stuff, changing things out, I'm not a medical professional but in my amateur opinion they seem to have a very high standard of care with regard to keeping patients safe. Good technique too, they never take more than one try to get the needle in the right place and so far I've only bruised up once out of the dozens of times I've been here.
