I was given an estimate by Dr. Martinez's office for a crown of $1,634 with insurance paying $817 my being responsible for the remaining $817. When I received the statement from my insurance company, it showed I was responsible for $1,388, not the $817 as was shown on the estimate. When I spoke with Dr. Martinez's office, they said that they provide the estimate to the patient as a customer service, and they cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information. I based my decision to use Dr. Martinez for this procedure, he is in network, based upon the information in their estimate. His office appears to not have done their professional due diligence regarding my insurance coverage. However, that did not stop them from putting that estimated coverage information on their estimate. read more

I had a terrible experience at Gulf Coast Smiles with Dr. Martinez. When I called to make appointments for my girlfriend and me, I specifically asked if they accepted my insurance, and they said yes. Months later, I received a bill stating they were not in-network. They also charged me for x-rays, even though I had already sent them x-rays beforehand, at their request, from my previous dentist. They still billed me for more. On top of that, they tried to upsell me on a tooth removal, insisted I needed Invisalign, and gave me a more expensive cleaning, claiming my teeth were in bad shape--yet I've never had a cavity in my life. Stay away!! His practice is Gulf Coast Smiles, yet did not see a single smile in the whole place. Great hygienist. Awful receptionists with unnecessary attitude. I don't think they care about the patients well being but their own pockets. Charged over $400 of unnecessary fee for a standard checkup, Xray and cleaning visit, which come to find out was included in my coverage. My insurance even called to get my refund. Their response was "You'll get your money back if we get our money." I have yet to get my said money back. read more

My experience with Dr. Martinez was very bad. They promised to make me a temporary denture during the process and I was without teeth for 1 year, of course with nutrition problems because I couldn't chew anything, also on the day of the surgery I returned home very bad with profuse bleeding that didn't stop and how did they end? late because I had no one to call. After 6 months of the implants, one of them detached from the upper part and when I called they did not have an appointment available, I do not recommend that institution to anyone. read more

Nice people... friendly atmosphere... Dentist is affable but I think he needs to do a job he likes.. He put in a crown backwards then attempted to file it down to fit... not paying attention which generally means one doesn't like their job but needs the money... Lots of other problems as well... Asked for full estimate for all the work at my 1st visit. Explained this was very important so I could budget for all the work needed to completely restore my teeth. I later learned they gave me estimate only for 1st part of the treatment plan. I was clear that nitrous oxide was essential for any appointment involving extensive work yet my 1st appointment for extensive work I arrived to be told the "machine was broken" & they expected me to follow thru on allowing the dentist to do the planned extraction of a molar. He yanked my head back & forth in the chair while I had tears running down my face & I had neck pain for several weeks. He attempted a root canal then after a good 1.5 hrs, moved to the other side of my mouth to the same tooth. After another hour or so, stopped to tell me he could do either root canal as my teeth were "too small." Both teeth were destroyed by the work he did on them & he was going to send me out of the office like that. I insisted he do something to protect them. He hand shaped something vaguely toothlike in some material & stuck it on them. It lasted less than a week. I just learned they have turned $1000 over to collections for this piece of incompetent work! I've been sitting in a dental chair of an excellent dentist for the last year getting my teeth fixed to the tune of $23,000. Including fixing the mess this dentist made of my mouth. I cannot recommend this provider. read more

After meeting Dr. Martinez for consultation to extract 1 tooth and perform 2 dental implants, I felt very comfortable moving forward with him and his amazing staff. The procedure was scheduled and is now completed (extraction and placement of 2 implants). During the procedure Dr Martinez and assistants made sure I was comfortable and answered any questions I had. There was no pain at all and only took about an hour and 40 minutes. Today is the day after surgery and still no pain or discomfort at all. They have scheduled follow ups to make sure healing goes well and scheduled the the date of completion whereas the final abutments and crowns will be placed. I made an appointment three months in advance, informed them I had periodontal disease, informed of them it had been a year since I had a cleaning, Informed them I had limited funds and dental insurance. They call me the day before to say there was a surgery conflict and asked me to come in a half hour earlier, which I did and I still wasn't seen until 9 AM. And once it was finally time for my cleaning the doctor specifically told the hygienist not to go anywhere underneath my gums. I have had many cleanings in my life and never have I had them purposely not even touch my gums. With perio disease!! I understand if they didn't want to do a scaling and call it a cleaning, but to not even get the bits of gunk AT the gum line is irresponsible and solely an attempt to make me come in for another appointment. Find a dentist who actually cares about your health. This guy isn't it. read more

Dr. Mauricio Martinez is second to none when it comes to crowns. Not only is his work skillful and painless, the crown fit perfectly, with no additional adjustments necessary. I wholeheartedly recommend this practice. All crown work done in one visit, yes - one visit. The CEREC machine in their office sculpts your new crown in less than a 1/2 hour - WOW! My previous dentist, Dr. D'Amico in Naples, while competent, pales in comparison. The Dental Hygienist, Danielle, is thorough, experienced, and client focused. Danielle will be cleaning my teeth for years to come. She is a genuine asset to the practice. Finally, Barbara (Barb as she says) - the Office Manager. Barb works with your dental insurance partners, seeking the most cost effective way to administer your dental benefits. Im very disappointed with the services of Gulf Coast Smiles My father went there to has his implants teeth and payed all the money up front, for something that they were supposed to delivery and finished 6 month ago and never has the job done! Every time he went, something happens, something went wrong, something were missing, they always blame the lab, and tell they don't hace anything yo do with that! And that was month after month , same problem, same unpleasant situation , they just take advantage of old and sick people , unfortunately He passed away 2 weeks ago and he never has his teeth done as they promise! They just got all the money! And never finish the work! I still have all his paperwork, all their voicemessage from the past six month with an excuse every month telling him that unfortunately it's not finish yet, and it's not finish yet, even from last week telling him one more time, that they have to cancel and change the date because they don't have his things ready! What a mess! What unprofessional people, they are desmoral, they lack empathy, and they just care about the money on their pocket! This is the worst service me and my father ever recieve in our life! We found gulf coast smiles online, contacted their office and were told they had a special $ 100 offer for cleanings for new clients. We both booked appointments. Really false advertising. No special whatsoever. We were both convinced to buy a package for those without dental insurance which provided discounts on procedures and included 3 no additional charge cleanings. I was then quoted over 3000 dollars for the work they recommended. When I said I couldn't afford that a few days later and just wanted to do the cleaning - the receptionist said the dentist wouldn't honor the deal unless I went along with his $3000 recommendation. So I paid $400 dollars and my girlfriend paid $300 to be scammed. I say stay away from this con artist. Not to mention the waiting time of over an hour and a half was completely unreasonable. I came here for dental work after touring the office and decided to go ahead with the dentures and implants. WHAT A MISTAKE. WAS QUALIFIED BY CARE CREDIT AND AS SOON AS THEY FOUND OUT, THEY DRAINED THE CREDIT LIMIT ON THE CARD. Now I am out $6,000.00 and all I have to show is the worst set of dentures I have ever received!!! It's also taken 3 months to get to this point mind you. I have gone back to wearing my 12 year old set because they look crumby but still fit way better and look more natural than what I got. When they finally produced the set, I was so disappointed by the look of them. Made me look like I was wearing gerbil teeth. OMG!!!! The gum area of then is so rough they rub and irritate me, they fall out of my mouth even with paste. Now they want to install mini implants with rubber orings to retain the lower denture and I will still have the crumby upper denture. I have filed a complaint with Care Credit in hopes of some recovery, but I feel I have been hugely swindled. I wasn't going to have it done at all and I should've gotten a second opinion, but they made ot sound so promising I should have known better. Let my experience be a guide.
