This place is racist. I have lived in the area for 5 years and over the years I have stopped by 4 times. Every time I have gone in it has been on a whim and I have asked for the simplest thing possible, a color change into a regular French tip. Every time I walk in, I am sent away by Vincent. We have never exchanged words, we've never had a problem but as soon as he looks at my black face he sends me away. I have even scheduled and appointment and when I got in there they were too busy and didn't have time. Today I went, midday Saturday, not one person waiting, only one lady getting a pedicure and manicure in the massage chairs and two ladies getting their nails done in the nail chairs. I asked for a color change, confirmed they could do a French tip and was sent to the back. I sat down nice, tried to strike a conversation, was smiling and she disappeared. She came back with Vincent who told me my design was too complicated so I said what design, i confirmed only a French tip so then he said oh we just busy I said where, there are three people sitting and I was told she could do it. Finally, I asked him if they had a problem with black women because this is the 4th time and suddenly it was no she just don't know how but remember the woman in the front confirmed she could. Long story short, they are racist. I don't know what black woman left a bad taste in their mouth but it wasn't me and I absolutely abhors this type of treatment. I understand that racial bias is a thing but I treat everyone with love and it's extremely discouraging to be judged by others. I want to add that not once since I have gone there has there been a black women there, and that should have been all I needed to know. read more

I seriously want to know who gives this place 4/5 stars. It's disgusting. This place needs a deep clean. The tools look like they can give you some kind of infection. The ladies do not give you what you ask for. They give you dirty looks like we're bothering them by just being there. I have been here a few times and each time leave disappointed. The last time I went Vincent was in a rush and hurt me a few times. I sent him pictures of my hands afterward and they were ignored. I get gel on my acrylics and because of the way they paint nails and don't cure the gel properly or flood the cuticle with gel polish, I now am allergic to gel polish. It's so upsetting. They are so nice here! I usually go to a nail salon up the street, however they were booked and I needed a pedicure so bad after work! It was about 6:15pm and I called around, and Gummee was the only shop that offered to help me at that late hour. So glad I found them! As soon as I walked in they took care of me. They even managed to squeeze me in for a gel French tip on my natural nails. I was so happy. Totally recommend them. From what I could see in the comfort of my spa massage chair while my feet were soaking, they also do custom acrylic sets. A couple of days ago I went to Gummee nails and spa with my MIL to get one of her broken nails fixed. I was a little hesitant to get my nails done at a place that I've never been before especially a nail tech that I do not know. My usual nail tech girl is in Noho/Glendale but its too far for me now cuz I just move to Long Beach, CA. So anyway, I finally made up my mind and went for it. It was the best decision ever. Nail tech Kim did my nails and she was awesome. She was very gentle with my sensitive nails. Very meticulous. She took her time to do her work which I like because I dislike nail techs who rushes their work. Thanks to Kim's attention to details, my nails came out beautiful and perfect. I hate writing bad reviews I really do! But my experience at Gummee Nails was just too bad! I went to get my nails done on Thursday the 25th of august 2022, I paid $45 for my mani. I got dip and gel done by a lady don't know her name, two days later all my nails started to chip real bad. I couldn't go right away to get them fixed since I was out of town, but that Monday the 29th I called in, and just my luck place is closed on Monday's. I call in upset on Tuesday, so I go get them fixed by Vincent. It's been 3 days!!!! And my nails are worse then the first time I went in!! Definitely will not be going back! ***Long story short: higher prices, customer service decline and long wait times since new ownership. I loved coming here every 2 weeks. The technicians were friendly and great at what they do. However, the change in management has really brought the quality of this place down. I now wait AT LEAST 30 minutes past my appointment time to get seen. Vinny never allowed this to happen. It seems the receptionists overbook, schedule at wrong times and do not have the same customer service as before. One time I came in and I waited 30 mins before my pedicure was started. Then I waited around for my go-to technician for another 20 minutes on top of that. Another client walked in for an appointment with the same technician. Keep in mind that my manicure still hadn't been started. How, in the world would the same nail technician do my nails and the other person's nail at the same time? My go-to nail technician is amazing and pulled it off. After everything panned out, I asked the receptionist what happened and she told me a client was late and created a delay in all the appointments following. This is not what I expected and now I dread coming in because I feel like services have become overpriced and the receptionists do not manage appointments well. Plus, the receptionists seem more preoccupied with playing their music on the speaker, catching up with each other and being on their phone more than their customer service. The male receptionist even sits on the massage chairs with his feet up on the foot rest with shoes on. Right now, I'm sitting on the massage chair 45 minutes past my appointment time and my mani/pedi has not been started. Im torn because I love my go-to nail technician but do I really want the headache? It's unfortunate to see all these changes. This place seems empty now. Phones used to ring off the hook and people would be turned away because Vinny preferred to provide quality over quantity. We miss you VINNY! On 2/3/24 I witnessed MY nail tech Kim be so blatantly racist to a black customer. The customer came in and asked for a polish change. Vincint asked her to take a seat and wait 5 minutes. He then proceeded to take every other person who walked in ahead of her without further communication. When this young lady asked calmly "how does your reservation system work? When will I be able to get in." Kim shouted "Don't give her to me I'm scared." umprompted and without anyone speaking to her after. When I, a black woman, confronted her she proceeded to point to my hand indicating my blackness and say "people like you are scary, and get violent." I was beyond furious.
