I am a fan. While I was always a Liquor Mart guy when I lived in town, we live north now and I am very happy to call Gunbarrel my new local shoppe for alcohol... decent prices, friendly, fast staff. --- P.S. Love the tattooed fingers.

Great, family run joint! Wine tastings most Fridays, closed Sunday. The staff is friendly, they have a nice overall selection. Tons of micros, good advice on wine.

I like to pay a little more to keep smaller businesses open that are surrounded by corporate competitors. Sadly, the owner has lost his way with an " us versus customer" attitude. It's almost like he thinks being petty about a bag is more important than the bigger picture which is offering something his competitors cant. He also snacks behind the counter, which isnt a good look. His nephew Sunny is always dinking around on Tik Tok on his phone instead of being customer focused. If he had asked if I wanted a bag I wouldnt mind paying at all but instead he made it awkward like its my fault he has zero customer service skills. I didnt have anything but a card and he didnt ask before he put that the transaction thru. Its like they have a negative mentality somehow patrons are trying to beat them out of 10 cents

The dry sherry in question is very reasonably priced and the drinking alcohol selection quite good given the size of the establishment. Every once in awhile an experience so either inspires me or irritates me that I'm motivated to return. I've lived in Boulder a long time, but recently moved to this side of town. I was looking to discover a new local wine shop to frequent, and although we got off to a rocky start, I was beginning to think this place could be my go-to. I typically buy a case of wine at a time. I've been in maybe 4x for cases, and a handful of other times for the one-off bottle here or there. I'm a health care worker and the last few months have been rough. I was driving by the other day in the brief period I have between work (stressful) and home (small child not in school), and realized I was overdue to refill my wine stock. I had a particularly challenging day and was near tears. Perusing wine is a happy distraction, and I thought I just had enough time -about 30 minutes, to pick out a case and a few bottles of liqueur. I had to cram a phone call into this time as well. I hurry in and the place has one customer in it. It's mid-afternoon on a weekday. I notice the sign on the door that says they have a 3 customer limit. Seems low to me, but good deal, they're trying to be safe. I spend about 20 minutes going back and forth between various wine sections trying to choose my case. I have 7 bottles in my cart, but I'm struggling with the last few because their selection is pretty picked over. They don't have most of the bottles I typically get, and their selection between $20 and $30 is much lower than usual. I suddenly look up to the usual young short-haired blonde woman with an angry, self-righteous expression on her face. She tells me I'm taking too long, I need to end my phone call and check out right now. I tell her I'm trying to pick out a case. She says there's a line of people trying to come in and I need to get out to make room for them. I'm mortified. In my sad-haze, I've been rude by spending too much time in the store! People are waiting for me! I quickly end my phone call, and rush up to the front where I discover the following. There is no line. There is one other person in the store who is checking out before me, so I wait in line for them to finish. The employee is laughing and chatting with the woman about how much business they are doing during COVID, and how much money they are making. There's about 10 different ways she could have alerted me to any worry she may have had that I was taking too long without lying and being rude. I guess this shop is doing so well on the backs of everyone's stress, isolation, depression and anxiety during COVID that they feel they can afford to lose customers. And since there's at least 3 other wine shops in Boulder with a great selection where the employees have always been kind and helpful, luckily I'll be in good hands.

This one happened to be by my hotel, and it was perfect for me to walk over and pick up some snacks/meals for my trip to Boulder. It was packed in the middle of a Friday afternoon, and has all the things you'd expect. For me that meant some mineral waters, fruit & veggies, yogurt, and yeah, gummy lobsters.. why not. The staff is always friendly here, and I hope that means they take good care of their employees from up in corporate. It certainly seems that way. There's not much that's low-sodium, for example, like you'd find in a larger grocery store. I was going there for the frozen veggies, which makes life easy with busy kid- schedules. Not always time to pick up fresh produce on the way home. TJs frozen veggies were reliably better than anywhere else. They had really sweet peas, as sweet as sweet corn, that burst in your mouth. Lately, the peas are so dry and tough-skinned they're inedible. The broccoli florets are woody. There have been times over the years they were out of certain frozen veggies, and that seemed disappointing, but it was better then buying a bunch and thinking I had them to feed the kids, but then finding all we had was inedible. The broccoli has been woody for a couple months at least. We stopped buying that, and stocked up on the peas, but now they're gross. Since I went for the frozen veggies (and would just pick up anything else that worked for us there), we don't really have any reason to go unless they get that straightened out. Somebody please give me a heads up if it changes again!

Bottoms Up, SWS!…read more Summit Wine & Spirit is a pretty nifty place to grab beverages for the 21+ crowd. Yes, their prices are average to slightly higher then normal but you do have a good selection of brews, spirits, and wines to choose from. I can only truly vouch for the brews though. They've got your run of the mill domestics down solid and your local faves as well. Maybe not the ooberly small breweries around CO but the "major local" brew companies, if you get my drift. The store itself is a good size and organized in a neat way. SWS is fairly clean and taken care of unlike those random stinky liquor stores you run into or even frequent. This place may not be the mecca of all things that make you tipsy like, let's say, the Whole Foods liquor store (LOL, I'm still getting use to that whole liquor concept here in Colorado), but dammit, it does more then just hit the spot. Cheers, folks!!

I am 25 years old and upon presenting my valid ID I received from the DMV, I was told that it was a fake. The kid who refused to accept my ID was undoubtedly younger than I was and claimed he couldn't see the state seal on it. I have had my ID for over four years (since I was 21) I am now almost 26 and it expires in July so I have not yet gotten one of the updated IDs and it is a bit worn. It's interesting to me that some kid can deny my license which is the same exact one I've been successfully using with my background checks and through the state of Colorado to obtain my nursing license. I recommend that if you don't feel like being demeaned and unless you have an updated license, don't waste your time stopping into this liquor store.
