Amazing dosas! I would travel from Markham to Mississauga anytime just to eat here again! They have such a large selection of dosas that if you wanted something specific, you could definitely find a customization that would satisfy your craving! I've been here twice and after tasting a bit of my friends' orders and my own selections, my personal favourite would have to be their Spicy Mysore Paper Dosa. I love that it's so crispy - the dosas that are stuffed with paneer or potatoes are just not as satisfying to eat. I would also recommend getting their samosa plate (2 per plate); the samosas are absolutely delicious, piping hot and fresh, and served with a side of fragrant chutney. HUGE line ups and they won't seat you unless your entire party is present. Service can be a bit slow at times because the restaurant is always so jam packed. Aside from the food - the dosa is hands down the best we've ever had! - the service was top-notch! We were driving from Waterloo to Toronto and wanted to stop by Guru Lukshmi to pick up dosa as a takeout order. We ended up getting lost and got to the resto quite late past lunchtime. By then my elderly mother said she would rather eat in at the resto rather than take out. But we were told it would be a 30-minute wait as we had not made reservations. That's when Satish came to our rescue! Satish is the manager and seeing as how my mother had mobility issues, he had us seated in 5 minutes and our dosas arrived almost immediately!! Satish was so attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and he did it all with a smile and such warmth. Can't go wrong with this as an app to share with a few. The curry it was in tasted good. Paneer Dosa: 10/10 if you like Paneer. Was super tasty, enough for 1 person. Would order again! We went here on a whim as I was craving some vadas and dosas. It is definitely worth going here. Their atmosphere and food are just the perfect pairing! Even though the line was out the door, we were seated immediately as it only two people. The service is very quick and very good. I got the 1 idli/2 vada plate as well as Mysore bhaji masala dosa. Best Dosa place in town. We visit it not so often though because of the wait times even for advance web booking. Have been a loyal customer since the time this family run business was at Niven Place. Food at this place is still excellent. But service is not as good and the warmth of a family-owned business is missing. Of the 7 of us for dinner seating, one dinner order came through so late that most of us were already done eating. Probably, human error, they missed out. But no effort was made for the mistake as any apology, till we voiced ourselves about it. The floor manager finally came thru, and did not bill one dosa from the final bill as a way to show that they appreciated our patience on the mistake. We patronise this place and really wish to see that Guru Luxmi management focuses on bringing back the warmth and efficiency in their service along with the huge clientele that they've grown over the years. Me and my party arrived and as we gazed over the minimal options we saw a few things that caught our interest. Let me list a few mistakes on the items that my party ordered. The service took a lot of time and they also kept failing our order 1:Dry chilli powder on idli. Too much and too raw (masala not fried properly) 2:Food to spicy and to oily Now we will discuss the feeling of the restaurant. It felt very cramped and like they did not care about us. It took over 20 mins for food to arrive. The bathrooms were in a very awkward area as they put them right next to the kitchen. I constantly bumped into waiters carrying food. The ambiance was lacking. It felt very gritty and local. In all I don't recommend and I recommend would some other restaurants in the area read more

We were 20 mins early for our reservation but we were still seated and the service was impeccable! We order the mini idly with medium and spicy sambhar, the Idly Vada combo, and Vadai as appetizers and everything was good ! We were 4 so had the chance to order a few different types of dosais! We had the Chettinadu, Chenna Dhal, Spicy Coconut and Mysore Masala and paper roast! The green white and red chutneys were good. But my favorite was the spicy Sambhar !!! Loved that!!! And even better, you can customize your dosa just like you want... in several levels of soft to crispy, mild to extra spicy, oily to not-oily..... Though it's very crowdy, but the food comes pretty fast!!..... and it tastes great!! Also, the servers and staffs are polite and helpful. They also try their best to accommodate the sitting options of your choice. Food quality is good, but have experienced that they have shrinked the portions sizes and increased the prices. Inflation is universal phenomena, increasing cost is acceptable, but at the same time reducing the portion sizes and not accepting is like cheating the customers. We experienced that on take out the portion sizes have been reduced, and on giving feedback they try to blame new packaging containers. Not accepting the fact the portions are less they only argue. This is probably the best south-indian restaurant in Toronto that serves more than 50 kinds of dosas, golden crispy medu vadas, sambhar idlies, upma, filter coffee and muzhaga bhajji...and many other Indian snacks. I love that you can choose your level of spiciness, crispiness and oil/ghee. The customer service is on point! Polite and superfast!! One time, I had not even completed my full order and the vadas were already coming in...hot, crispy and perfect! Born and brought up in Chennai City, a place where every household starts their day with dosas and idlies - I can confidently take my mom to this restaurant, without her having to complaint about the taste and quality. Every time I have been here, their reservation system worked, no mistakes with my order and everything came out quickly. You also get 1 free refill of sambhar. I agree with other reviewers that they rush you out, this isn't really a place you'd go for an intimate dinner with long conversations.
