Sweetest people with the fast and tender service! I came here last minute because I saw that they were open late. They took me in right away and removed my gel nails and gave me a a gel manicure! I was afraid that the gel nail polish would not last but here I am a week later and it's still looks fabulous! They offer drinks from water to coffee which is so sweet! I had a really bad experience here at guru. The man who did my nails was very rude, didn't like that I asked him to change the color of polish. It's not like he did my whole hand, he did one nail, I asked him to change it and he told me "it looks good like that" so I left with awful nails. I hated them and couldn't live with it so I went back for a polish change and explained to them what happened. They still charged me for a nail change and could care less about my situation. I'll find another nail salon. read more

Stopped here for a pedicure only.... and wasn't planning on doing a manicure. But they are the sweetest most warm staff so I went and did a manicure pedicure with gel. Pricing is the most fair you will find in noho. I have small nails due to I can't grow them for the life of me, but they look cute!!! Comfy vibe and atmosphere. read more

Love, love, love Guru Nail Bar & should have written this review a long time ago - it's over due. I've spent 23 years working in the beauty industry, owning a skincare studio and servicing mom's & their teens with facials, brows & massage treatments. So customer service is my heart and soul, & I'm picky when I venture out to get a service of my own. The team at Guru Nail Bar are so conscientious & mindful of their clients' experience while you're at their shop. They work with passion & enthusiasm for their art. Definitely give them a try! They take walk-in traffic of course, but my recommendation is call ahead and secure an appt because they do get busy especially on weekends. My pick? Their "Bubble Bath" French Tip Gel Mani/Pedi w/William. He's the master blaster of nail art guru's. read more

The guy who works here should leave and go somewhere else with better management. They make up prices as they go. Every appointment is a different cost even though my nails are the same. Not sure what exactly you think you're selling but a full set with gel polish shouldn't cost over 120$ It's extremely frustrating to get told one amount and then it's doubled because she prices everything based on your car and clothes. Not actual service. You just lost a customer! I also watched one customer run out of the store after they pulled that stunt. She kept telling them the older lady is making her uncomfortable and she doesn't like being lied to. The older lady kept grabbing her arm and begging her to stay. Thats considered assault. The woman was having a panic attack and you don't grab people to force them to stay to get a service they obviously didn't want. That's illegal too. Imagine watching this and horrified. After she left they said she was crazy and cheap. Super rude! I felt awful for her. Overall after witnessing this I could not in good conscience return. That's not how you treat your customers! read more

I switched to this salon because I solely get my nails done by TALY and I've been following her wherever she goes. She knows exactly which shape I like & want for my manicure and does an amazing job EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I really feel like sticking to one nail artist has changed this experience for me. I see her every three weeks and my nails have gotten so much healthier over the last few months. I love it. Solely doing hard gel (no acrylics, no tips, just my natural nail with a hard builder gel :). In regards to Guru nails, my first visit there was so much better than where Taly worked before. They have free parking in their lot right outside. Everyone was nice in the salon. They serve complimentary drinks - HELLO MIMOSA! And the salon gave of a bright vibe and is airy and friendly. read more

I use to love this place but since its under new ownership these people are TRIPPIN with the prices. I use to come get very elaborate nails done here. Regularly. Today I came and got a simple CLEAR ACRYLIC NAIL WITH GOLD LEAF FLAKE, the woman charged me $100 for this. Like where the fuck do they charge 45 for sparkle to be put on clear acrylic. I was told because of the design on ten fingers it's now $50 My more elaborate set cost way less at the same location. I've been a regular here for three years but today I feel completely ripped off and will be taking my services elsewhere. The new owners rob you here. Go to modern pamper salon in NOHO or sisters nails in Sherman oaks. These folks at nail guru are gassing! read more

This place is going downhill every time I go. I booked an appointment for me and my cousin. They give you this menu with different prices for their pedicures. The owner is looking over the employee's shoulder at you and she pushes you to get the most expensive ones. When you tell her no thank you, she gets upset and serious. Super rude and unprofessional if you ask me. Not all of us can afford a $75 pedicure nor want to. All they seem to care about is money here. On top of that, it hasn't even been two weeks since I got my pedicure done and one of my big toes and other toe has already started to chip pretty bad. So expensive and not even good quality. Never going back again. read more

Came in to Guru Nail Bar in NoHo for an ACRYLIC REFILL (no cut or additional shaping) + Regular Pedi (No additions & NO GEL). Didn't think to ask for prices as my services were straight forward. I WAS CHARGED $95. Typically in Studio City, I'll get charged anywhere between $50-$70 for the same service. They're claiming a $$ on YELP & are charging way over! I went here since it's close by. The older lady that did my nails was so rough. I told her multiple times to be careful. The buffer tool was grinding into my natural nail and it was hot and painful. Most of my fingers were cut in the cuticles. My nails were so obviously crooked. I was so embarrassed and wanted to hide my hands. To top it off, the gel polish wasn't cured correctly and it smudged and got dust in it as soon as I got home. One star is beyond generous. Not worth the $50 manicure and risk of infection. read more

Protect your cuticles, find another place! If you have an acrylic set that needs filled then beware that your cuticles will cut. Photos are from two days after the disastrous fill that left my cuticles bleeding with a less than apologetic "sorry". I was flinching each time that she kept nicking my skin with the nail drill tool. The design was decent which is why I didn't give it a 1 star. read more

This place is a clan/cult which is fine but not for me So let's start off by saying prior to my nail appointment I hadn't gotten my nails done for a lil of 7 YEARS I ask this lady (who's has piggies all over here nail cart) some recommendations & I specifically tell her I'd like a color that doesn't show my nail bed. She didn't have any recommendations, literally shrugged at me lol w/e and at the end of it all I got a color that showed my nail bed and some of the lines for my nail design were all wonky. This lady is fast, if no one else is busy the employees will all come watch her and talk to her. And don't get me wrong this place is busy, people coming and going, there's also people that seem to be regulars and when one of my nail lady seem to be regular came in she jumped with joy and rushed me out lol and ran to her side. I'm not a jerk, I tipped her anyways. And the total $80 with a $10 tip she did go over pricing with me and they charge you for everything length, how many colors, type of nail shape etc. I was already there so I said WHATEVER. They ask you to make an appointment but it really doesn't matter they'll attend to whoever walks in first and I've seen it done to another customer which led her to walking out lol Jessica makes some sick ass nails but she'll also talk back to you and make sure you feel less than. My nails lasted about 2 weeks but I kept them on for 3, they take your nails off for about $10-15 (including tip) This place sits you down next to people even though there's so much space lol they also have a sign that says no restroom for customers but I've seen customers walk in. My second experience was odd, this different lady took my nails off and presumed I had done this before so when she proceed to burn my nail bed with the nail tool I flinched and she's said oh you're supposed to tell me, and I said w/e because it's too late now obviously (in my head). Like I said this salon has talent but their hospitality is something they need to work on, and given the other reviews on here I can agree to the cons to this place and respect the pros. 3 stars because the owner let someone else fix the nails for me free of charge but I won't be going back since the experience was so uncomfortable. The owner is an amazing nail tech but it seems not all of the staff. I don't know the name of the male nail tech. but I came in and asked for a French manicure but what I got was not up to standards. I received thick white lines and inconsistent nail shapes. A great example of my experience is if you've ever received a bad hair cut and then told the hair stylist it looked good because you convinced yourself it's not that bad. Later I realized they were that bad. It was uncomfortable going back in the same day to get them fixed by someone else and the male nail tech was still there. Sorry I don't have a name to give for you all. I'm happy the nail salon fixed the problem. If in doubt when coming here, just ask for Michelle. read more

I really liked the service I received from my nail artist. He was kind and efficient. I asked for a dip powder manicure, but the powder color was so light he offered to top off the top with gel ("The color will look better,") at no extra cost. My nails looked flawless when I left, but less than a week later they began chipping. It started off as minimal chipping, but a week and a half later, a larger chip occurred. It's unfortunate, since it cost $65 dollars. I also had a regular pedicure, which was speedy and efficient. The pedicure artist was receptive to my needs when the water became too hot, but she made it extremely cold (which was equally uncomfortable). It was a nice job for $25, but an uncomfortable process. All in all, the experience was average, but the manicure/dip powder hasn't lasted more than a week and the total cost was not worth it. read more

FIRST OF ALL I RECEIVED THE WORLDS MOST BASIC PEDICURE NO MASSAGE NO HOT STONES NO MASKS NO PARFFIN NOTHING ! Update: I just realized this place overcharged me $20! They took a $20 deposit for my appointment and today I just realized I paid $98 for a gel mani and a regular pedi! This place is a rip-off! Where to begin... my appointment was at 4:30. I arrived at 4:15 and immediately was helped. That was probably the only good part. My nails look terrible. I had to ask for my cuticles to be cut. Absolutely done with this place. Their customer service has gotten worse after each visit. This last one I had was the last straw. I booked an appointment only for them to have me wait close to an hour to begin. It turned out that after I checked in, they somehow "forgot" the details behind my visit and moved on with other customers. They also treated my girlfriend terrible, started her 40 minutes later after checking in for her scheduled appointment too. They used to show a menu of their services and prices but overall time have gotten shady about that and will surprise you at the end of your visit so be prepared to pay more than you're anticipating with no explanation. They charged my girl double for a portion of a service that she'd get a full service (mani and pedi) for that price with much more quality work and service. I typically would get a pedicure and sadly can admit they've lacked in the quality of their service each visit. And once you decline their add ons they move fast with you and pretty much want you out their building. There's tons of other options in that area so I'd advise exploring before visiting this place. Very disappointed. read more

I don't know what I just paid $100 for... I asked for the gel-x fill-in and a pedi. They are rough AF when filing and I spent the whole time flinching and wincing and being ignored. They tried to apply acrylic; I said no then they tried to apply another powder saying it was gel. I said no. They gave me some other bottle of a "gel builder". I said okay because (duh) gel should be liquid-y. They applied it horribly. I asked for coffin shape. I got... something else, who knows? More painful shaping. Messy polish on hands and feet. Horribly shaped toenails. Just an overall mess. I almost lost it when they said my total was $98 because I'd gotten the "special gel". Literally WTF? They weren't great the first time, terrible this time, and they won't get a third try. Feel free to visit if you want the cosmetology school treatment at luxe spa prices. read more

I've been eyeing this place for a while because it seemed like a good place. I called to make an appointment and they got me in a reasonable time. When I arrived, I got in and I didn't have to wait. Great color options! What sucked royally was this- not halfway through the manicure, I got a really bad nick on one of my fingers and that really hurt. I sucked it up hoping it would dry up after the nail lady put stuff that burnt thinking it's supposed to help with the process. But it kept bleeding. Now mind you, I'm not anemic, diabetic or taking any blood thinners like aspirin. By the time she got done cleaning up the cuticles etc and was ready to apply the color, I decided not to go with my original plan of gel because I had an open wound still bleeding healthy like a ripe mango and maybe not everyone got taught this but exposure to UV radiation is a really big factor that causes cells to go cancerous. Not gonna take a chance, since I already had gotten open to a potential staph infection. Also, need to note I'm not a hypochondriac. I haven't gotten sick in years and I travel a ton. But my point is I'm at a WTF moment. And all this while I'm not being mean to the nail lady, just quiet, clearly disappointed - not being passive, bitchy etc. Because I know no body wants to stab a customer and everyone makes mistakes. I opt for basic manicure cause I had a party tomorrow that i still have to set up for and now I know I'm screwed cause there's a chance they'll get banged up. When I finally finish and dry up, the woman gives me the bill and the receptionist swings by to see how it all went and I tell her, not so hot. I show her my still raw and red cut and she says oh sorry. So I ask her, I'm ready to settle the bill, but do you think I can get a free gel mani to make up for this once I'm healed? She says she'll check, walks to the back (I can clearly see her talking to the 'manager') and she comes back with a cute lil $5 card for the next time. And I shake my head realizing I've just been insulted with a brush off. Cute! Because that's the same thing you get if you check in (no getting cut up included!). So I said, keep your card, here's the money (in cash that I prepared since I knew I was getting a basic manicure that now had a high chance of getting 'effed. And that's when she comes back to say- actually the whole thing is free. So sorry. Long story short, I insisted to pay. I'm not simply looking for free manicure, I'm really not the sort. But I wanted them to actually be sorry. Have you ever screwed up so bad but know that's not the best version of yourself so you want someone to give you another chance? That's what I wanted. The right thing would have been the manager, who isn't a hologram, to come up to me, apologize for what already happened that can't be reversed but make up for (1) the fact that I tried you instead of the other nail salons, (2) effn up whatever night they might have effed up and (3) the fact that I GOT CUT. The right thing would have been, offer a gel mani on the house -next time- maybe even this one and the next one. This is business 101 to make the person feel better about being in this unwanted situation. So just to be clear, I score this place hella low because the manager sucks. Yes, she's not the one who cut me- but she could have set it right and turned it around. Because in the end of the day, that's what sets you apart from the millions of nail places that can deliver the same freakin product. read more

I have been getting my nails done for years and I am so happy to finally have found a place close to home. I had been driving an hour to get them done. I found this plane bc I saw a woman at my gym with amazing nails. I found Ella! She is amazing. I've only been here twice but I am in love. There is a guy who did my nieces full set the first time I was here ( I think his name is Lee), he did an awesome job too. Woman who did my pedicure also did a good job. Highly recommend this place. They are open 7 days a week AND They take walk ins but I'd recommend an appointment. read more

Honestly, there are a couple of good nail techs here (Jay, Khoa), but multiple times they have double booked my appointments. I get there on time and they ask me to wait because they have over booked. I have waited 30 minutes before. Another time I waited half an hour, they asked me if I could leave and come back in another half an hour and when I got back they told me 20 more minutes and completely ignored me until I eventually just walked out. Not only that, but I haven't had a single good pedicure here. Every time, polish is too thick or messed up or they don't provide the whole service that I paid for. Probably because they are rushed and over worked and over booked. Also! I when you go up to pay, suddenly your services are 20-30 dollars more than what is listed, for no apparent reason.
