They barely speak English and have a hard time with comprehension. I asked for bacon, egg and cheese on a roll and we went back and forth for 5 minutes to try to get him to understand what I thought was a pretty basic breakfast order. They didn't have rolls, so I was about to get it made on sliced toasted bread, when I saw they make hamburgers, so I asked for my order on a hamburger roll toasted on the grill. The sandwich came out with the bun squashed, the bacon very chewy and I couldn't find the cheese anywhere. I didn't even finish it it was so bad. The place looks dumpy and not very clean. This was my first time going to Gus's Deli in Campbell and I'm so happy i did. The resturant isn't very big, but it has this cozy Asian café vibe that I immediately loved. I ordered the ham omelet, and it came out super quick and tasted amazing. The two ladies working behind the counter were incredibly sweet. They truly the epitome of the caring "Asian mom" energy, which honestly made the whole experience even better. It was adorable and made the place feel extra welcoming. The kind of flavor only an old, greasy griddle can give you... And I mean that in the best way possible. This is a no frills breakfast and lunch spot with very good prices and friendly service. I opted for the bacon breakfast burrito and was not disappointed. The tortilla had good grill marks and the eggs were fluffy and perfectly wrapped around bacon and hash browns. Can't ask for much more than that! I took it to go because I was on the road but there are a couple tables inside. First off, I love a Mom and Pop shop, and have nothing against a hole in the wall with ZERO ambiance if it has great food. But this ain't that. The bacon breakfast burrito was not great. 1/3 of it was basically folded tortilla. The middle 2/3 was better, but still, standard grade bacon with some egg and hashbrown. And the hot sauce add was Frank's, very obvious taste. Who put's Frank's on a breakfast burrito in this area? That said, all was cooked well, just nothing great. I got the pastrami & swiss. Again, cooked well, so can't complain there, but the rye bread just tastes like store shelf wheat. Pastrami was pretty light on flavor too. Totally missed when she asked me about toppings that she said mayo was one of them. Why mayo on a pastrami & swiss, why? Mayo shouldn't even have been offered, and if you have a customer who requests it, tell them NO. So again, wanted to love it, really didn't. No return plans. read more

I have been coming to Gus' at 2523 Winchester Blvd, Ste B, Campbell, CA 95008 for years. The food has always been excellent. Freshly prepared for each order. This is a family run restaurant and they really care about the customer. If you have a special food request, they will make it if they can. I have tried everything on the menu but have some favorites. The French Toast, Hash Browns, Breakfast Special and Gyros are my top choices. The restaurant is not fancy but it has a few tables and chairs. It is reminiscent of a bus depot or train station food place of years gone by. I really like this place, as I know others do because of the crowds of customers early morning and lunchtime. Most take the food to go as they are on their way to work. Are used to come this establishment over 20 years ago. I felt like reminiscing over my childhood and decided to take a drive. What a disappointment... Considering I cam all the way from Gilroy. I wish I would've gone to the taco place next-door Rico's tacos. I looked at all the different menu photos nothing looked very appetizing. A lot of the photos do not correlate what is up on their menu. Not sure what is available and what's not. I decided to order their patty melt. What can you possibly screw up on a patty melt? I asked how it was prepared I was told with mayo, sauce, tomato and lettuce... Which is not what a traditional patty melt is. A patty melt is a hamburger patty with grilled onions, Swiss cheese (it has holes) and thousand Island dressing between two toasted slices of rye bread. Sometimes it includes pickles. When I opened up my sandwich to take a look at it... It was pathetic... Minimal grilled onions and you can't even called them grilled because there was no color to them... Grilled onions usually have a brown caramel color... the cheese wasn't even melted...Zip zero nada. With great sadness and disappointment I walked up to the owner/cook and asked a bout the sauce, she became very rude and offensive and said I told you there was only mayo. I asked by chance if they had any thousand Island dressing and she stated "no, only ranch." I took the ranch and thought that would maybe be helpful. I decided to taste it before spreading it on my dry melt, it was just some cheap bottled sauce it tasted nasty I decided just to eat my poor little patty melt the way it was given to me Unfortunately, they are condiment bar does not exist. There are packets of salt, pepper, and ketchup. If there would've been some mayo and relish I could've made my own thousand Island dressing. I am so disgusted. Gosh it's been years since I've been to Gus's Meat & Deli. Apparently he no longer owns it "for like the last 13 years!!!, boy have I been out of the loop" Gus use to have Gyro meat on a spike over his stove that he would slice. "No longer" (I digress) Inside they have an easy to read menu and great pictures of the food items on the wall. I ordered my old go to the Gyro in a pita wrap (comes with Chunks of Gyro meat, raw onions, tomatoes and some kind of sauce) overall I thought it was quite good. Wifey ordered the Gus's special 3 eggs, 2 slices of bread, hash browns, bacon and sausage. The eggs were good the hash browns (frozen) the bacon rubbery sad face definitely not the Gus's of yesteryears. Delicious, FRESH, ingredients every time. I've been coming here for a while now and have not been disappointed. My go-to is the bacon breakfast burrito which has a tortilla with melted cheese, eggs, perfectly cooked hash browns and bacon. They are not cheap and pack the burrito. The food taste homemade and all their ingredients are fresh. They do not use fake eggs like most places do. This is a hidden gem for sure. This one came up and so did two others but I decided to give this place a try. Breakfast burrito here is okay nothing special just your normal size burrito egg, hash, cheese and bacon. A great little greasy spoon in Campbell! The first thing I thought when I looked at the menu was "wow... this would be a great place to come if you're hungover!" Their menu has pictures of the food, or I should say their 'menu' is a collection of photos on the wall with the names underneath. Very straightforward. I dig it. Not crowded (Sunday afternoon)! I walked right up to the counter and ordered. The woman who took my order made sure I was ok with everything that came on my sandwich, asked if I wanted a drink, took my money, and my to-go order was ready in about 10 minutes. My sandwich was still hot when I got home about fifteen minutes later and it was delicious! I ordered the pastrami and swiss on sourdough bread. The sandwich was packed with pastrami, and it also had shredded lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, and pickles. I was very pleased with both the taste and price of the food I got as Gus'. Gus' Deli is easy to get to on the Winchester light rail and is across from Saint Lucy's church.There are a lot of traditional sandwiches and Middle Eastern ones too, such as falafel. The bread is very good. It is brioche style bread--soft and tasty.I tried the fish sandwich, which has a breaded fish with tomato and other deli vegetables in it. The combination was very good, and it is a hearty sandwich. They have hot sauces for your sandwich as well. I was wrong 3 years ago when I gave Gus' Meat & Deli only 3 stars. I'm upgrading to 4. It is still sortofa greasy spoon and it isn't much to look at, but I under-judged the food. First of all it's not really a Deli. Just a few sandwhiches, burritos & breakfast. Sis and I were doing laundry & decided to check it out. There was 1 customer inside at 10am. The menus is over the cooler, pretty much like the oucs already posted. I got a breakfast sandwhich on white toast. It was a fried egg with bacon, lettuce, tomato, hashbrowns & cheese but no mayo or ketchup which is fine. My sis got 2 eggs over medium, bacon, hashbrowns & toast. I ordered coffee...guess what she said.. no coffee. What the hell !!!???? Nooooo !! Ok I'm over it. Got water instead. My sandwich was delicious. Sis said her breakfast was great but she likes her hashbrowns a little darker. She also didnt like the plastic forks, too flimsy. The place was a little run down but it's ok. Finally more people started arriving. About 10 people total !!!I would definately go again but bring my own coffee !?? read more

Imagine taking a full breakfast--egg, hash browns, meat (bacon, ham, or sausage), and toast--and fashioning it into a sandwich along with lettuce, cheese, and hot sauce... I'm drooling just thinking about it right now since it's breakfast time and that Fiber One bar that i just ate just isn't cutting it. Anyways, it is every bit as delicious as it sounds and at just about $5, it is also a great deal. I have tried a couple of other things off of the menu here, but it really is the breakfast sandy that keeps me coming back here. Food comes out fast and the people here are really nice and friendly. It's just a hole in the wall spot, but it rarely gets packed. They also have great deals on a breakfast plate, for just over $5 you can get a full on 3 egg breakfast with meat, hash browns and toast. I've been coming to this deli for about 25 years. They have changed ownership but the breakfast sandwich is still one of the better sandwiches I've eaten. I've noticed that the portion of ham has decreased substantially. It went from about a centimeter to 1/3 centimeters basically its a deli slice of ham now. This is the one reason I gave it a 4 stars the other was the price for add ons. I added bacon and avocado with a drink and it was 14.48 minus the soda the sandwich was around $12 thats a bit crazy. I walked in for a late lunch and was greeted and someone pointed out the huge picture-menu on the wall. I chose gyro and eggs over medium. The eggs were just right: barely runny with completely cooked whites. The gyro was generous, the bread was tasty, and there was a hash brown patty I didn't even notice from the menu.
