4.5 Its probably been 10 years or so since i have been here so I really didn't know what to expect. It goes without saying I was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent. Our server probably came back three times to both refill our coffee and to check on how everything was going. The inside was not updated, but it was not outdated as some of the other legacy restaurants are. Now for the food.... The soufflé was well done. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Hashbrowns were lightly crispy on the outside light and fluffy on the inside. The country fried steak was good as well. It was crispy with a good amount of gravy. I was in the neighborhood and realized I had never actually tried Country Holder's Inn, so I decided to finally stop in -- and I was pleasantly surprised. I was seated right away and offered coffee or a drink, and of course I went with a drink. I ordered an omelette with a side of pancakes, and while nothing was over-the-top special, everything was tasty and exactly what I was in the mood for. The real standout was my Michelada -- so good and definitely the highlight. Overall, it has that classic Denny's-style comfort but with a slightly nicer feel. On our recent trip back to the Bay Area, My family and I had the opportunity to visit Holders as it was our favorite breakfast spot that we would go to when we lived here. All I can say is that nothing has changed. The service is outstanding and the food is still as great as we remembered. We came twice during our stay and had: - Pancakes - Swedish Crepes (with lingonberry butter) - Egg + bacon - Veggie omelet Their pancakes and Swedish crepes are still the best that we have ever had from any breakfast restaurant. The staff said that they have a very special recipe for both. The pancakes are light and fluffy and the Swedish crepes are nice and moist (topped off with powdered sugar and the great lingonberry butter). We have yet to find a breakfast place that comes close to the Holders for both the food and the service. The inside of the restaurant has the classic diner vibe, comfortable and welcoming. We wish that we could convince the owner to open one up here in Maryland. Overall if you come here you can't go wrong with the pancakes and Swedish crepes. They do have a large variety of lunch and dinner items but we stick to our favorite breakfast options. You won't be disappointed. read more

Ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with pancakes and the country inn skillet with Swedish pancakes which were all pretty solid dishes and fulfilling. The stand out and what this place is known for is their Swedish pancakes which is something I always order whenever I dine here. It's a soft spongy-textured pancake that you roll up and fill with some sort of berry butter which is delish! I can just go here and order these pancakes and would be satisfied. The service here is great and the staff are very welcoming and attentive which is a plus probably since we went on a week day. The chicken fried steak was nicely fried and crispy and the country inn skillet is great for those who like a variety of meats (sausage, bacon, ham) in their scrambles. Variety of everything. Me and my friend went here for dinner and we wanted something healthy or at least not loaded with oil. We came here and the food was perfect, their strawberry shake was just the right quality, smoothness, and sweetness but not too sweet. Their burgers were amazing and also just right, the right temperature, the right amount of doneness, exactly the right to toppings, and they were even nice enough to cut our burger exactly in half for us so we could share the meal exactly as we asked! The ambiance was very quiet and dimly lit. The only thing I didn't like was how our server assumed he and I would argue over our burger when we don't argue over little stuff like that. A few friends recommended this diner, and I decided to take their word for it and give it a shot. The service was great, and the food was too. I ordered the cheeseburger special that comes with fries and a shake. My wife ordered the BLT with Gilroy garlic fries, and a Michelada. You can expect an old school diner decor, no annoying EDM music playing, no Gen Z screaming "literally" and "bruh" every other word. Just a few old geezers keeping to themselves and enjoying classics like liver and onions. Everything was clean, classic, and delicious. I walked out yesterday. 10:45 on a Friday morning. It seems that the restaurant had lost focus and is more concerned about Door-Dash & To Go orders. There were 3 other tables waiting to have their order taken. The staff just ignored them and was fussing about the door dash pick up guys. We only saw two servers when we ate here last week, and they both seemed tired and unhappy. No smiles and barely spoke. Hope they take a nice vacation or retire soon. Otherwise, the food was fantastic. My Chicken Enchilada Soup was thick, creamy, and flavorful. My Clubhouse sandwich was also great. My sisters satisfied their pancake cravings. Our cousin and daughter joined us a little later and their food came out surprisingly fast. Perfect place for comfort food and pleasant crowd of retired folks. I haven't been here in a quite some time. I'm glad to see the food is still decent! The parking is kind of meh on a busy Sunday morning but I've also been here mid weekday morning and the parking lot isn't as full. We tried the biscuits and gravy today and my wife picked the country fried steak and eggs with a Swedish pancake. Biscuits and gravy were delicious! The gravy was rich and the biscuits were moist! I'm always hesitant when ordering biscuits and gravy because I always seem to get a rock hard biscuit other places. Eggs were cooked as I asked and the country fried steak was aways good! I went here for Christmas dinner and was not impressed with the food. the service, or the prices. The server does not look at you when interacting with you. Rude. The food was mediocre at best, The turkey was undercooked with a lot of dark meat being served. The stuffing was mushy. The broccoli was hard. They were out of mashed potatoes which they mentioned AFTER our order was placed. The pies were all very old and we were a table of 3 and all three seperate pies we ordered were old. There was no bread. The price was too high for this meal. On the plus side the salad was good. The gravy tasted good. I will not be returning to this place and I suspect they may close soon. Local brunch place that's good for families and groups. We were seated quickly on a Saturday morning and the place was busy. Our server took our orders and we did not wait long for our food. We ordered the chilaquiles which was mildly spicy and the chorizo scramble. The portions were enough and we had coffee refills. This place is my #1 comfort food place. I am autistic and have AFRID, meaning I will intentionally not eat if i do not like the food options around me which has caused me to lose a lot of weight. So whenever I am in one of my hunger strike episodes, my parents can take me here and I will be sure to eat. I recommend the pancakes here and the french fries, they're always super crispy and fresh, and the pancakes taste like literal heaven. The service here is so polite and when i was younger, they used to give me and my brother free ice cream. I LOVE this place. 10/10 no better place to be. read more

Idk why all Holders locations always have only 3/3.5 stars. I've found it to be a great example of what a diner should be - a cozy place with friendly people, plenty of options and tasty food. Maybe Yelpers are foodies, and are therefore unimpressed with Holder's salt-of-the-earth vibes? Here's my take - great for families or for when you want comforting, decent food with no fuss. I usually get a scramble or an omelette, and a single pancake on the side. I recommend the fresh orange juice and the garlic fries. One thing - I wish they had an espresso machine so I could get lattes! They only have black drip coffee. But this may be asking too much of a diner. read more

What a great breakfast, glad they had keto-style. Wanted protein and veggies and breakfast was perfect! Omelette with cheese & avocado, fresh spicy salsa in a small cup. The avocado was perfection- I'm fussy about that! The fruit was in a small bowl, just the right amount- fresh cut melon, pineapple & berries- it was so good / ripe and sweet. 2 pieces of bacon too. Went on Halloween night, 10 minutes before closing (I get that we were pushing it to closing time) I walked in and the server Efren said it was okay for us to come in and get served, meanwhile the other server Jose came out from the back saying that no that they were already closed claiming that even the kitchen was closed and that the cooks had left already when we clearly seen the kitchen staff back there still. Had a chance to try Holders Country Inn and this place was pretty good with huge portions. Like huge enough where even splitting an entree could have leftovers huge! This is a really cute place located near Cupertino Main Street and I can't believe this was our first time. If you are looking for a classic American breakfast you can come here. Overall once we got there we were able to get seated pretty quickly and service was not too bad. My fiancé and I ordered the breakfast burrito. This was with chorizo and it was yummy. I do wish there was some sort of sauce or salsa to make it more juicy but it was nice. There was also crispy hash browns on the side, and I lvoed them! I have been ordering their Friday Special Fish N Chips for a while now. Although it is quite pricy at $25, the photo below with the two filets was what you got, and it was enough to feed 2 people. The fish was great quality and the portion was generous. As I would any good place I find, I recommended this place to my friends and family, and a lot of them started coming for their Fish N Chips. So, you can say that I have had this enough times to know what an order is like normally. Today, Friday, I came back to try it again, and to my surprise, the whole order was changed. The price, still at $25, is NOT fair when you look at the portion I got. As shown in the second photo, I got half the portion, just one fillet and ripped in half. The whole box seemed like it was leftovers of sorts or they ran out of ingredients, everything was a smaller portion. Since I like to get my moneys worth, I went in to talk to the restaurant staff, and a man told me that he "changed the fish to a better quality one, which didn't fit in the box so it had to be ripped in half". When I asked why there was only one, he proceeded to tell me that "it was too big to fit in the box,"and "the previously used fish was not great quality". So I walked out and decided to eat it, whatever. It is the SAME fish, nothing has changed. It was not "better quality". I don't like being lied to. You could have increased the price if it wasn't fair proportions in the first place, but lying to your customers is how you lose them. Will NOT be ordering from them again. read more

Super sad about the fire at the Cupertino location. Hadn't been to this Saratoga Ave location in many years. I wonder if they ever do the crab sandwiches anymore..... Came for dinner with some extended family. Had a pleasant experience. Not crowded (as expected). They have a seasonal menu - pumpkin (pancakes and pie) stuff for dessert this time of year. No senior menu anymore. My daughter and I decided to have breakfast for dinner... because we can and we love it! She always enjoys the chocolate pancakes. They serve the butter in containers here and don't put chocolate sauce on the pancakes (different than the Cupertino location), but she didn't seem to mind and happily ate her pancakes. The sausages were different (larger and tastier) than the ones that were served at Cupertino as well. I had my traditional California Benedict and I have to admit it probably tasted better here too - it was getting to be hit or miss the last few times in Cupertino. They still have the white tent and tables in the parking lot, so maybe we will come for brunch with the kiddos one day and enjoy our California weather. read more

Ordered several items one of which a turkey/avocado sandwich. It was by far the worst turkey sandwich I have ever had. The turkey was paper thin and dry, there was little avocado and the dressing used was awful. It gave me a stomach. We were here for a quick brunch on a Sunday afternoon. Got seated immediately. The place has more of an old diner vibe to it. Our server was courteous and quick. We had the Santa Cruz scramble (with choice of pancakes on the side) and the swedish pancakes. The swedish pancakes were more like crepe with a berry ice cream to go with it. The crepe wasn't great, had a very strong egg flavor to it. The scramble was decent, had absolutely no seasoning. With salt, pepper and few drops of Cholula it was good. The pancakes were nice, kinda reminded us of pancakes that you get in McD. The hash brown was the best part of the whole meal. It was so crispy and yummy!
