    Eggs and Bacon

On our recent trip back to the Bay Area, My family and I had the opportunity to visit Holders as it was our favorite breakfast spot that we would go to when we lived here. All I can say is that nothing has changed. The service is outstanding and the food is still as great as we remembered. We came twice during our stay and had: - Pancakes - Swedish Crepes (with lingonberry butter) - Egg + bacon - Veggie omelet Their pancakes and Swedish crepes are still the best that we have ever had from any breakfast restaurant. The staff said that they have a very special recipe for both. The pancakes are light and fluffy and the Swedish crepes are nice and moist (topped off with powdered sugar and the great lingonberry butter). We have yet to find a breakfast place that comes close to the Holders for both the food and the service. The inside of the restaurant has the classic diner vibe, comfortable and welcoming. We wish that we could convince the owner to open one up here in Maryland. Overall if you come here you can't go wrong with the pancakes and Swedish crepes. They do have a large variety of lunch and dinner items but we stick to our favorite breakfast options. You won't be disappointed.

Ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with pancakes and the country inn skillet with Swedish pancakes which were all pretty solid dishes and fulfilling. The stand out and what this place is known for is their Swedish pancakes which is something I always order whenever I dine here. It's a soft spongy-textured pancake that you roll up and fill with some sort of berry butter which is delish! I can just go here and order these pancakes and would be satisfied. The service here is great and the staff are very welcoming and attentive which is a plus probably since we went on a week day. The chicken fried steak was nicely fried and crispy and the country inn skillet is great for those who like a variety of meats (sausage, bacon, ham) in their scrambles. Variety of everything. This place has tons of seating and wasn't very busy on a Friday morning. Solid breakfast spot!

Traditional American breakfast. Nothing fancy. The scrambles were a little too oily to my taste, but the fruits were very fresh. The service was good, attentive service, my coffee cup was never empty. Overall ok.

A few friends recommended this diner, and I decided to take their word for it and give it a shot. The service was great, and the food was too. I ordered the cheeseburger special that comes with fries and a shake. My wife ordered the BLT with Gilroy garlic fries, and a Michelada. You can expect an old school diner decor, no annoying EDM music playing, no Gen Z screaming "literally" and "bruh" every other word. Just a few old geezers keeping to themselves and enjoying classics like liver and onions. Everything was clean, classic, and delicious. I'll definitely be going back to try their breakfast options.

We only saw two servers when we ate here last week, and they both seemed tired and unhappy. No smiles and barely spoke. Hope they take a nice vacation or retire soon. Otherwise, the food was fantastic. My Chicken Enchilada Soup was thick, creamy, and flavorful. My Clubhouse sandwich was also great. My sisters satisfied their pancake cravings. Our cousin and daughter joined us a little later and their food came out surprisingly fast. Perfect place for comfort food and pleasant crowd of retired folks. Used to be my best friend's grandmother's favorite spot and happy the place still stands after so many years.

Chili verde is very good! Scrambles really aren't my thing cuz they are always overcooked imo so I did not try. Hash browns are mid. Not crispy for either of us. Coffee is decent. Pancakes are solid! Service is very quick. Classic spot would be back if in the area.

I haven't been here in a quite some time. I'm glad to see the food is still decent! The parking is kind of meh on a busy Sunday morning but I've also been here mid weekday morning and the parking lot isn't as full. We tried the biscuits and gravy today and my wife picked the country fried steak and eggs with a Swedish pancake. Biscuits and gravy were delicious! The gravy was rich and the biscuits were moist! I'm always hesitant when ordering biscuits and gravy because I always seem to get a rock hard biscuit other places. Eggs were cooked as I asked and the country fried steak was aways good! Hash browns were crisp and the coffee stayed full! What more can we ask for. They have a nice dessert case as you walk in but I was too full to get anything. Thanks for staying the same.

Local brunch place that's good for families and groups. We were seated quickly on a Saturday morning and the place was busy. Our server took our orders and we did not wait long for our food. We ordered the chilaquiles which was mildly spicy and the chorizo scramble. The portions were enough and we had coffee refills. We all shared the Swedish pancake that came with a butter strawberry cream. Service was great and the food was good. Good brunch place.

Idk why all Holders locations always have only 3/3.5 stars. I've found it to be a great example of what a diner should be - a cozy place with friendly people, plenty of options and tasty food. Maybe Yelpers are foodies, and are therefore unimpressed with Holder's salt-of-the-earth vibes? Here's my take - great for families or for when you want comforting, decent food with no fuss. I usually get a scramble or an omelette, and a single pancake on the side. I recommend the fresh orange juice and the garlic fries. One thing - I wish they had an espresso machine so I could get lattes! They only have black drip coffee. But this may be asking too much of a diner.

What a GREAT (Keto) breakfast- all my favorites!! Eggs, avocado, cheese, bacon , fruit

BREAKFAST STEAK AND LUNCH BURGER…read more I ate at City Diner twice. The first time was in April before going to the San Jose Fair Downs to bet on horse races. Before going to bet on horseracing I like to order steak for brunch. I ordered New York steak asking the steak to be cooked medium rare. After several bites I noticed the steak was cooked medium. Maybe it's superstition, but if I do not enjoy my steak I tend to lose at the racetracks. That's what happened at City Diner since the steak wasn't cooked to my preference as I lost money at the San Jose Fair Downs that day. I wasn't planning to come back to City Diner soon however i noticed one of the items listed on the burger section of the menu was corned beef burger. I've eaten pastrami burger before, but not corned beef burger. Also I love corned beef. I came back last Saturday for the corned beef burger. For $3 more instead of fries I requested onion rights. There is an abundance of milkshakes at City Diner. I asked my server and he recommended the "Groom", which is a mocha malt as it is his favorite. The "Groom" wasn't too sweet so I was able to finish it. The corned beef burger included slices of bacon. I was worried that the bacon would mask the taste of the corned beef as both bacon and corned beef are cured. I was correct as I couldn't taste the corned beef due to the bacon. Overall I'm glad I came here to eat for lunch however I do not see myself coming to City Diner anytime soon.

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon for lunch recently. The restaurant is located in downtown San Jose off north 1st street. Parking is accessible in the back parking lot. A full service bar is located to the right as soon as you walk in. The restaurant is clean and has nice modern decor. The vibe is welcoming and bustling. We ordered uncle Greg's smoked ribs with cornbread, candied yams, and rice, beef brisket with cornbread, coleslaw, and mac & cheese, watermelon lemonade, lemonade, and a glass of Chardonnay. Everything was delicious and hearty. Both the ribs and beef brisket were tender and juicy. All the sides complemented the bbq meats very well. The candied yams were sweet and tasty. Mac & cheese were creamy and gooey. The cornbread was tasty and moist in the inside. Both lemonade drinks were refreshing and hit the spot. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Jackie's Place. The staff were so nice and attentive. I appreciated the cozy and family friendly atmosphere. Price point was fair. I definitely want to come back to try the happy hour and of course other items on the menu.

This time it was around noon, so my wife had the mini version of the Mexicano omelette, and I had the American burger with a grilled jalapeño on the side in addition to the french fries and avgolemono soup. My cup of soup came first and I enjoyed it. It was creamy and had chicken breast and rice in it along with a nice lemony tang. My wife enjoyed her omelette, even eating her hashbrowns, which I was surprised to see. Usually, she leaves them for me. She must've been hungry! The hamburger is a half pound of ground Angus beef before cooking and comes with lettuce and tomato and in my case cheddar cheese instead of American. That grilled jalapeño was an extra charge, but that was fine. It came on the side (as does a good dill pickle) and I took occasional bites from it to enjoy the heat On a Saturday as you might expect there was a bit of a weight but not more than 10 or 12 minutes I would say. I was tempted twice to try it, but both times it was described less than desired... they do use fresh Prime Rib, not cold cut sliced roast beef deli meet as many places use... but they were honest in saying it was the fully cooked medium well to well done slices, which is discouraging to try, but maybe I need to see someone order it to judge the appearance more than the description. I prefer the type of Prime Rib Sandwich that is medium rare, moist, tender and juicy, similar to what "Hillstone" (formerly "Houstons") serves where it's red, pink and more raw but thinly sliced so it's not chewy.

(Have not been inside) I ordered the steak chilaquiles, and I'd give them a 8.5/10. The flavors were really good, the sauce was delicious, and I liked the addition of the eggs, avocado, and queso. My only complaint was the steak. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out medium well, a bit dry and was tougher than expected, making it difficult to cut. It was still tasty--just not cooked quite the way I was hoping. The mimosas were good too, a great value. Nothing that really stood out as amazing, but definitely nothing bad about them either--they got the job done. What really elevated the experience was the service. Our server Rebecca was attentive, knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly quick throughout the meal. They checked in at the right times, answered our questions confidently, and made us feel well taken care of without ever being overbearing. Overall, I'd come back, especially to sit on the patio again. With a more tender steak, this meal would've easily been an 8.5 or 9 out of 10!! :)

Rather than addressing what actually happened -- a customer being racially harassed on their premises -- management's response was to ban me, not the person who harassed me. If a business allows this kind of harassment to go unaddressed and then punishes the target of it for reacting, that's a real problem, not a minor service issue. This is the San Francisco Bay Area.
