    Cheap cutlery.
    John g.

Food was ok to good. Service excellent. My only complaint is when you are charging big boy prices you should at least serve it with big boy cutlery. They are using the cheapest stuff you can buy. It feels cheap and is cheap And it transfers to taste. I'm sure they would say people steal it. Well people will do all kinds of stuff but the rest of us pay top dollar for an omelette and get to eat it with Ken and Barbie cutlery. Bad

Cute little diner with tables or a bar for solo guest. Great friendly service and huge portion! Go for the cut potatoes over the hash browns. They have a big menu for breakfast lunch or dinner.!

Its clean and loved their 80's music, cute corner diner.one way in and one way out parking lot. Tiny tough to get out since the cars are zooming to make a right turn. The menu is extensive. Breakfast served all day. Dinner and lunch after 12 noon. I had the healthy breakfast, fluffy egg whites, like an omelette with diced chicken, spinach , and mushroom. Side for me was assorted veggies (broccoli, zucchini, and carrots. Option of fresh fruit)) . Yes, it is bland but this is where you can be creative and toss how ever you want with salt and pepper. I like that. The plate was hugh and hot. My cohort had the 1/4 steak with white rice and veggies, option mash potato or baked potato). It was bland as well. Wish they offered some gravy. A1 Sauce and ketchup were offered. The only thing i dont like, 4% added if paying by credit card. The tip is precalculated and starts at 18%. Some tips include the sales tax but you wouldn't know that if they flash the bill at you. Inside got cold when fewer people in there with air conditioning. The water cup is huge and I remembered that San Jose tap water doesn't taste good. I had to waste the water.

The food was great and my server victoria was super friendly and helpful throughout our visit. It's a hidden gem honestly very calm setting for a tasteful meal. When I came in here I was pleasantly surprised with the food quantity. I also had the BEST CHICKEN BREAST I have ever had and honestly I'm not a fan of chicken at all. But Jose changed my mind today I loved it !!!!! Anyways all I'm trying to say is if you want a nice warm home cooked meal Mini Gourmet is definitely your best choice Ps i didn't take a picture of the chicken because i devoured it to quickly. You have to try it !

I've always gone to Mini Gourmet when I was a kid and the food always hits. It was very nostalgic to return and dine here. I went during lunch on a weekday so there weren't as many customers. It was pretty quiet, but food and service was still wonderful. * Chicken Fried Steak - I haven't had a good country fried steak in a while. The country gravy goes with it perfectly & it was a big enough portion to fill us up. * Asian Chicken Salad - You're probably wondering who orders salad at a breakfast spot but shockingly, this salad was pretty decent. The portion was large & all the vegetables were fresh + crispy. Overall 5/5 stars. I will likely return to try the ube pancakes and all the other all-day breakfast items.

The chicken Pho, the portion is large! Comes with a side of bean sprouts and jalapeño(?) Peppers.

I've gone a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. The staff are friendly, the vibe is laid back and casual, and the food is pretty good. I like using their hazelnut creamers for my iced coffee. I just tried the chicken pho and it was really good, with a BIG portion. Some have said the service is slow, and while it isn't speedy I don't mind it personally. The staff are still friendly and the inside is cute, with a few TV's playing sitcoms to distract yourself with. If you're looking for a laid back slower paced place, this is one to concider!

Saturday late night and no one was really there, I'd more like Not Busy. Waitress was prompt, friendly & on it with her job, seeing that she was the only one waiting on all the tables in the restaurant. This place has a so many things on the menu & that just means, it's a little something for everybody & whatever it is you get, you won't be disappointed. I'm glad this place re opened because for a minute, they were closed & not going to re open. This is a place to go, if you're undecided on what to eat, but you will be satisfied. Parking is super small & gets tight, so if it gets busy, you'll have to park elsewhere but, if you are in the area & your craving something, stop by this place & check it out.

It's been decades since the last time I came here! This place has been around since the 80's. We were at the farmers market in Campbell in the morning and on the way home stopped here for lunch. The place looked nicely remodeled, and the hostess and servers were all really friendly and smiling! We were sat right away, and I ordered the open faced Turkey sandwich which according to the menu had home cooked turkey. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetables and a cup of soup. The soup was shrimp corn chowder and came beautifully presented on a plate with a pack of oyster crackers. The soup was very delicious and homemade tasting and I loved it! The main meal came and it was very obvious that the turkey was uber thin sliced deli turkey. It was very disappointing.... the bread was regular white bread, the mashed potatoes were good as was the gravy and a nice portion of mixed vegetables. My husband and daughter enjoyed their breakfast. I would definitely come back and try some more things!

Four star diner experience! If a diner type meal is what you are looking for, then try Mini Gourmet. I rate this in terms if diner. The food quality is at the diner level, slightly above. The service is good. Friendly staff always looking to give me a coffee refill. 80s music was on tap for a audio enjoyment. Friends was playing on silent on words, which lent a quirky late 80s vibe to. It has been years since I ate here. The renovations made it a nice experience. So nice it didn't close. Mini Gourmet has been here for decades. It's is part of the history of San Jose.

French toast, eggs, hash browns, sausage
    Mariah L.

This was my first time trying Mini Gourmet. I decided to get the French toast combo with eggs, hash browns, and sausage. The French toast was dry and had hard, rough edges making it difficult to chew and enjoy. Similarly the hash browns were equally dry. The eggs and sausage were definitely my favorite! The service was great except it did take over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The overall restaurant was well kept and charming. I would like to come back and perhaps just try something different!

My waffle and eggs over easy with hash browns and a side of delicious bacon. Very tasty!!

This Mini Gourmet restaurant used to be one of my favorites when I was younger. Then they closed down for about 5 years and after their long hiatus they are back in business and I'm so glad. Stopped in yesterday for some breakfast and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. It was clean, well lit, great service , and the food was excellent. The portions were big and the prices were reasonable. My wife had the Joe's omelette and I had the waffle combo. Needless to say I finished everything on my plate. If you want a place that has great breakfast, lunch and dinner then the Mini gourmet fits the bill. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

So far, the best-tasting breakfast place I've ever been to in San Jose. I've tried so many breakfast places and I always say, ehh just another breakfast. But this one, hands down surprised me. The country potatoes are yummy, and the bacon is cooked to crispy perfection. The steak omelette was fluffy and the meat was tender. The flavor is just great. The ambiance is so cozy and relaxing, it feels like home. The attendant was quick and the food was served almost immediately--a great way to end an early hospital appointment and eat a hearty breakfast. I'm glad i stopped by.

Mini Gourmet at 599 South Bascom Ave, San Jose, CA 95128 Willow Glen is back after being closed for 5 years. It's the same owner but due to Covid, a fire, and renovations, it's been a long road to recovery. For now, they are open for breakfast and lunch only. My wife and I have eaten here twice so far, for lunch and breakfast, and both times the food was really good, especially the BBQ beef brisquit. The steamed broccoli really hit the spot along with the home made potato salad and cole slaw The breakfast visit we ordered the pancake combo with their home fried potatoes and french toast. Everything tasted home made, especially the salsa and pico de gallo. The restaurant is super clean and has undergone new paint and bar chairs. The staff is extremely nice and attentive. The chef is happy to do any modifications to your order. It is definitely a family place with plenty of parking. I took several pictures to show how nice the interior and exterior is. (See Attached). I also want to mention their in house bakery. The key lime pie is my wife's favorite. Yes, they have cinnamon rolls. This is a must try place!

Ask the Community - Mini Gourmet

Google Maps displays your hours as: "Updated by phone call 1 week ago" Sunday-Thursday 7 AM-11 PM…

Mini Gourmet is only opened from 7am - 3pm

Are you going to reopen? I drive past everyday and it's sad to see it closed and in disrepair.

    soon!

Is this open during the shelter in place for pick up? And if so what are the hours?

Will this place reopen after the fire?

Yes, the insurance company is getting the permits to fix the mini. Once the Mini Gourmet is fixed which according to the insurance told us around 6 months to one year but the process could faster and hopefully the Mini will be soon.…

Is this place still open 24 hours on Friday? On the Google listing it shows that 24hr service is on Sat/Sun, but the website also lists Friday as well. Don't know which one to go by since the website looks a bit outdated. Anyone know?

According to the hours in the menu they are open around the clock on weekends. I think this means they open at 6am on Friday and close at midnight on Sunday.

The kitchen is open and you can appreciate the chefs working on their open wood fired grills and pizza ovens, which imparts a faint, woody, aromatic fragrance in the restaurant. The staff is polite and courteous. They left a signed note on the table for my husband's birthday which was a sweet gesture. For the drinks, we started with the jean claude pandan, pandan being the my husband's current favorite ingredient in food and drinks. I had the drink with dill, which the server warned me about being centered around the flavor of pickles (which I am personally fond of). The pandan drink was a light and refreshing highball and I found the dill cocktail to be creamy and delicious, but didn't really leave me with a sour aftertaste. For food, we went with the drip trio platter which came with fresh pita bread pieces, and the drip trio of hummus with roe on top, chilled tzatziki, and muhammara. Then we moved on to the oysters which were fresh, will a dressing of an herb oil of some sort. They also had a complementary palette cleanser in between which was a shot of watermelon and orange juice. For maincourse, my husband went for the tagliatelle and I chose the ravioli, both choices were corroborated by our server to be the right ones to go for. The tagliatelle is expensive because of the lobster and caviar that it comes with. However, the pasta is delicious and comes in a decadent sauce. Not a lot of lobster pieces though. The ravioli had a robust mushroom flavor and came with a light sauce of mushrooms, crispy fried shallots, and pine nuts. We skipped dessert because we were pretty full already. Would definitely recommend this place for a cozy dinner out but it's quite expensive so might not be a place to go to frequently.

When walking, we missed the restaurant initially because this place is clearly, a hidden gem, especially being hidden along the nightclub strip. We were blown away by the curated vibes. From the thoughtful decor to The Office being projected on the wall. It felt hip, fresh and refined. We decided to craft our own drinks - Arnold Palmers, his favorite. But they only had sparkling lemonade, which actually made it even better. We shared a salad that had some cooked pears and squash alongside the greens, walnuts, cranberries and blue cheese. I do feel like the cooked sweet elements overpowered the salad with their sweetness and textures a bit. Wondering if a refreshing pear for crunch or more dressing could have brightened it up and provided a salty, sweet balance. I ordered the Short Ribs with a parsnip purée and roasted carrots and it did not disappoint. Everything paired beautifully together, perfectly salted and cooked. I finished the entire plate. Hubby and I wanted to have brunch The Table is the best spot. You can get bottomless Mimosas for a very reasonable price. But first and foremost the food is what you go for. Not to mention you can take a very pleasant walk along Willow street and check out the shops after a great meal. The menu really lends to sharing plates so you can really get your foody on. We had the beignets to start. Made with ricotta and lemon curd for dipping. The beignets were very moist and a little dense because of the ricotta. The sugar coating was light and the crust was perfectly crunchy. What really made the beignets sing was the lemon curd dipping sauce just added a deep layering of flavor. Then there was the Heirloom Tomato salad with artichoke hearts. It was a tasty bite. The fry on the artichoke hearts was light bringing out the artichoke flavor. The treatment of the heirloom was clean simple and the whole dish together was just wonderful. Finally we had the Chicago Roast beef sandwich. It was huge and made me glad that we were splitting the dishes. The sandwich really reminded me of the east coast because of the peppers and carrots medley that was on the sandwich, which packed a fantastic little kick to wake up the pallet. Their Au Jus dipping sauce brought the hold combination together. Per my Hubby, who is a real Roast Beef lover, the whole sandwich was next level. If you're in Willow Glen and you don't eat here you have missed out on a wonderful experience. Be kind to one another

One star, and it's entirely about how the staff handled a serious situation, not the food…read more I was harassed by another patron at the bar -- told to "go back to my own country." That's blatant racism, and it happened while I was a paying customer. Staff did nothing to address it in the moment. Understandably upset and shaken, I had too much to drink afterward. My family came and drove me home safely. Rather than addressing what actually happened -- a customer being racially harassed on their premises -- management's response was to ban me, not the person who harassed me. If a business allows this kind of harassment to go unaddressed and then punishes the target of it for reacting, that's a real problem, not a minor service issue. This is the San Francisco Bay Area. We should expect better than this. Avoid this place if you don't want to find out how they'll treat you when something like this happens to you.
