Cafe San Jose is a restaurant with old school diner vibes tucked in to the corner of an elderly strip mall. It's been around forever. I had breakfast there recently on a Saturday morning. There were two friendly waitresses on duty. One of them told me to sit anywhere, so I grabbed a table by the front door (this is important later). I ordered a simple ham and scrambled egg dish with hash browns and toast. It came out fast and tasted good, although the scrambled eggs were a little too wet. It also needed lots of salt and pepper. The restaurant was about half full and quiet at 9am, except for the table next to me where a man made a call on speaker phone turned all the way up and then yelled at his breakfast companion. When I was almost finished with my breakfast, one of the waitresses decided to Windex the glass front door, which was right next to me. She opened the door partway and a breeze blew in, and I could see droplets of Windex floating in a sunbeam and landing on my food. I didn't make a fuss. It was an accident and I was almost done anyway. The waitress apologized. San Jose Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Cute little spot that doesn't seem like very much from the outside, but the menu has a great selection of classic diner food. We got a skillet and an omelet, and both were super delicious. Service was great and we didn't wait too long for our food at all. Will definitely be back!

This place gives such a home feeling! They are so kind and quick!! Food had good flavor, and their coffee was delicious! If you're looking for a hole in the wall for breakfast, this is definitely your place. You can tell they have regulars that obviously keep coming back due to the comfort feeling this place gives.

I love a good hole in the wall mom and pop place! This is my second visit and both times were great. Greeted with a friendly smile on arrival, a nice menu selection, and delicious food! I had the chorizo breakfast burrito with potatoes. Both items were very flavorful and portion size was big enough for two meals. Special shout out to my server, I'm sorry I'm terrible with names, but she bought my breakfast as an appreciation for nurses. (I was in scrubs as I had just gotten off work that morning.) Best of luck to you in your nursing career pursuit!

This place has been a staple for years. The servers are awesome, and feel like family. Personally, I love sitting on their patio and taking an absurdly long time to drink a cup of coffee while competing to tell stories with my siblings. It feels like home. Recently they have made some updates to the menu and I am here for it. The new menu looks great! The additions all make sense, like a flight of mimosas. All of my old favorites are still there. In a quick aside and nod to the 99% invisible podcast, I want to say I really appreciate the design choices in the new menu. Go eat here. Do it often. Like a ritual. Perhaps on Sundays.

Honestly, this place was amazing. I got the NY steak and eggs and I would totally go there and get it again, and I don't eat red meat too much but I wanted to try something I usually wouldn't get it. Highly recommended!!

An underrated brunch spot that has a diner like vibe, similar to Bills Cafe and Uncle John's Pancake. I do prefer Uncle John's Pancake more because of the service and quality of food. However, if you don't want to wait that long, Cafe San Jose is good because of the price and portions. Our server was catering to multiple tables outdoors so it felt like the wait for the food took quite some time to come out. Menu selection is overwhelming. So many options!! I'm a benedicts girl so I had to try the carne asada benedict and my friend got the carne asada sandwich with garlic fries. Lol we didn't plan on both getting carne asadas! I asked for extra crispy hash-browns but it was still cooked like normal and wasn't even that crispy. Hollandaise sauce was super good! Muffin was soft and not soggy. I just wished the carne asada wasn't overcooked. Garlic fries were definitely garlicky and extra crispy. Sooo gooood. Overall, not a bad brunch spot.

Great food. Great service. We had found this restaurant on Yelp. The times we have been here it has been busy but that doesn't interrupt the service. Great breakfast stop.

Wonderful diner to sit back relax and enjoy some nice comfort breakfast/brunch bites. Parking can get tight at times though there will always be a spot or two that you can get to grab. We went in just before noon for a quick brunch. Got seated outside and were approached for placing an order right away in a courteous manner. We ordered a couple of modified speciality Benedicts. One of them consisted of House potatoes along side english muffins topped with poached eggs, spinach , salmon bites (IIRC it was Salmon and not crab cakes scrambled) topped with some sour cream and Hollandaise sauce. The other order was again a benedict which had hash browns on the side while the muffins and the remaining part remained the same as first order. The taste was great and the a cup of black tea really complemented it well for me. Took our time to finish the meal and were presented with the check right after which we took care of and headed out. All in all a great experience which i definitely would like to repeat on one of those days where you feel relaxed and crave for some good comfort food!!!

Corned Beef Hash Benedict (English Muffin, Two Poached Eggs, Hollandaise, Served w/Hash Browns, $17.95)- 3/5 stars
    Amy D.

Cafe San Jose has a traditional diner feel, and they have the sweetest staff. They are located in an older strip mall, and they were busy but not crowded at 11am on a Saturday. It seemed like their benedicts were popular, and I decided to check out the Corned Beef Hash Benedict (English Muffin, Two Poached Eggs, Hollandaise, Served w/Hash Browns, $17.95, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tXTFjOqdHEtXGK5otHYC5A&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg). All the ingredients seemed fresh; however, my poached eggs were sadly not runny at all. The hollandaise also needed a bit more salt, and the corned beef hash needed more sear on it. I did like their crispy hash browns, but those could've also used more a little more salt. The food came out really quickly, and their staff came by frequently to refill coffee and water. I would come back if in the area to give their omelettes and/or scrambles a try. They had a lot of indoor and outdoor seating available. Parking was easy to find in this complex.

They had some Fanime specials for the con (katsu and egg salad sandwiches, spam musubi), seasonal drinks, of course coffees and teas, and non caffeinated drinks, as well as some food too (heated up pastries, both sweet and savory). There's a restroom with a code and a couple seats and tables with outlets to charge your devices. Service was welcoming and efficient especially after the crowds started to pick up. I got the: 1) Egg Salad Sando: -You can tell these were handmade in store. They had cute washi tape to hold the packaging together. -Solid egg salad sandwich. Slightly sweet white bread and generous amount of egg salad inside the sandwich. Creamy mayo taste that isn't too sour or tart, lots of egg in it. Perfect for an anime con next door. 2) Cappuccino: -I got this no sugar and sugar free and it came out with some pretty latte art. I thought it was mostly ok and boyfriend thought so too, but after several sips and when it was too late since we really had to get to the con, it just became too disgustingly sweet for him and he had to throw it away. 3) Yuzu Fresh Fruit Sparkler: -Yuzu puree with sparkling soda water. -Refreshing and not bad, but even after mixing this was a bit sweeter than what I would have liked and again, in our rush to leave, we couldn't really get this adjusted. I ended up pouring most of it in a water bottle to enjoy later and put in my bag. But ended up not finishing it in the end. Maybe next year I'll try again or just stick to the food stuffs.

Strawberry Spumoni $17 I got the strawberry brunch cocktail with bitter aperitivo, strawberry, fluffy grapefruit, and tonic. Cute but not memorable. Filipino Grand Slam $24 We ordered the amazing grand slam with Filipino longanisa, on the side there was garlic rice, fried eggs, and decorated with spiced vinegar. Pipikaula Ribs $32 The other main course we got the smoked pipikaula ribs, with kimchi fried rice, sunny eggs, and sprinkled scallion on the top. Chilaquiles $29 Another main course we had was the confit duck leg, mole rojo on the side. And on top there were feta and cilantro sauce dressing and a sunny side up egg on top. Caesar with trout $26 We also got a Caesar salad made with bibb & gem, Parmigiano Reggiano, herbed crouton, and boquerones. There was an option to include chicken or trout as the protein. We chose the trout and it was great with crispy skin and tender meat.

When walking, we missed the restaurant initially because this place is clearly, a hidden gem, especially being hidden along the nightclub strip. We were blown away by the curated vibes. From the thoughtful decor to The Office being projected on the wall. It felt hip, fresh and refined. We decided to craft our own drinks - Arnold Palmers, his favorite. But they only had sparkling lemonade, which actually made it even better. We shared a salad that had some cooked pears and squash alongside the greens, walnuts, cranberries and blue cheese. I do feel like the cooked sweet elements overpowered the salad with their sweetness and textures a bit. Wondering if a refreshing pear for crunch or more dressing could have brightened it up and provided a salty, sweet balance. I ordered the Short Ribs with a parsnip purée and roasted carrots and it did not disappoint. Everything paired beautifully together, perfectly salted and cooked. I finished the entire plate. Dad got the Pork Chop and while it was overcooked, he loved the flavors happening in the dish and was pleasantly surprised by the refreshing treatment of the kale. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Overall a great experience. We would definitely come back!

Our server Charles was really great. He walked us through the menu giving us the 911 on watch to order. Most of the plates were perfect shareable bites. Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. Loved the potato roll they used all round a killer sandwich. Going a little outside the box we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The pineapple slaw with this amazing peppery chutney type sauce played so well with the acid of the pineapple. Another must have sandwich. I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed.
