What a fantastic neighborhood market! This place has such a charming European feel and offers a wonderful selection of specialty foods you won't easily find at regular grocery stores. I was especially impressed by the wide variety of imported cheeses, French Isigny AOP butter, beautifully marbled American Wagyu steaks, Berkeley-made NY-style bagels, Rosa Brothers glass-bottled milk, and even whole rabbit. Every aisle had something unique to discover. The quality of the products is excellent, and it's a great place to shop if you enjoy cooking or putting together a cheese board. Even the kitchen towels and small gift items were thoughtfully curated, adding to the market's cozy atmosphere. If you're looking for premium ingredients and a grocery shopping experience that's a little different from the big chain stores, Zanotto's is absolutely worth the visit. I am obsessed with this grocery store. I love how it is family owned and there are sooo many locally made foods from small businesses you cant find anywhere else. I love how each location is slightly different from each other. The employees are literally the nicest people, always soooo friendly and efficient when I order from the counter. I am obsessed with the sandwiches they make, and I am on a mission to try them all! I love the Pesto chicken sandwich (which is not made at the Rose garden location), the caprese baguette, chicken mozzarella, salami & Brie, basically cannot go wrong with any of them. This Willow Glen location has a bunch of pre made meals too from burritos to lasagna to little snack boxes. And a salad bar which I always need to get. Was in the neighborhood this evening and decided to stop by to pick up a few groceries. I go to the Rose Garden location once in a while and was curious to see how Willow Glen compared. It's a nice big store, much bigger (or maybe just better organized) than Rose Garden. Very clean, too. They had almost everything I needed, except they were out of onions. I wanted to buy some spinach dip, and while they had lots of containers available, they all expired the next day. I also couldn't find their delicious Asian chicken salad and pre-made pasta with meat sauce they sell at the other location. Zanotto's has the best red grapes, so I happily got a large bag of them. Also picked up a Marianne's ice cream bar, which was delicious. The best thing I bought was one of the last Sumano's Bakery seeded sourdough baguettes. I'll probably stick with the Rose Garden location because of the chicken salad and pre-made pasta, but overall Zanotto's Willow Glen was a pleasant shopping experience. read more

They have a good selection of food and feature a lot of unique items. They are one grocery store with an easy-to-access parking lot. Even if the store is busy, there is always parking! The staff is very helpful. They roam the aisles to check if patrons have questions. There's also restrooms available and easily accessible near the pasta sauce section at the very end of the store. The deli is the busiest area where people are lining up to put in their sandwich or salad orders. The store ambiance is really nice. ACs are turned up high on a hot day. Aisles are well stocked. I can't speak for the grocery aspect, as I really only go in for the deli, but I would say they easily have the best sandwiches in San Jose. You have got to get it toasted and double meat. This store has the best customer service, meat selection, gourmet food, and the deli anywhere in San Jose. The meat department is superb: clean, fresh meats, great selection, and customer service. I bought some filet mignon steaks and a tomahawk steak to BBQ, and they were some of the best steaks I have ever purchased. Great deli -- love getting the big bag lunches here (comes with a small deli side, chocolate chip or oatmeal cookie, and a can of soda). My favorite is the old fashioned potato salad + mortadella sandwich (with all the fixings!) on the ciabatta or herb slab. The market is a bit pricey, but has a lot of good finds and is my go-to for anything Italian (marscapone, every shape/size of pasta). The 2 star ding here is for the meat counter. I've found that it is not always fresh -- I once got some short ribs that smelled AWFUL - I questioned if they'd gone bad. Like, I couldn't eat them or go near them after I opened them up at home - I almost took them back but decided it wasn't worth the effort. Also may or may not have witnessed some of the meat counter workers fighting in the back (with one of them litearlly walking out of the store saying they couldn't work there anymore and were "done") -- eek, not exactly what you want to see/hear. read more

We stopped in San Jose coming back from Aptos for the Textile Museum. It was lunch time and we wanted a good deli sandwich. My search brought me to Zanotto's. We got 2 of the prepared sandwiches, Turkey, Apple and Brie as well as Salami and Brea. They were toasted perfectly and were delicious. Quality meats and fairly priced. I loved their soup selection and their food selections behind the glass (order by size, pay by the pound). Wanted to grill and smoke tomahawks so we went here (our first time at this location) and I'm so glad we did. I'm a red meat lover and have purchased various cuts of steaks from surrounding grocery stores (Safeway, Nob Hill, Lucky's, FoodMaxx, Lunardi's) and I must say that the quality of meat is similar to Lunardi's. It's fresh - you can see it, feel it, and taste it. Much cheaper than Lunardi's, too. Gavin loved the clam chowder. I didn't get to try. I very much enoyed the spicy spinach dip and jalapeno hummus. Their macaroni and cheese was so thick and dense that indulging felt like I gained 10lbs instantly. It was so good though. Service was great. The guys behind the counter were sweet. Zanatto's was the original high-end grocery shop before Whole Paycheck™ made it seem trendy. Since their stores are fairly small, all the items they carry are usually top-of-the-line products, as they have no shelf space for nonsense. The Good: *Complete line of Clover® products; from milk, butter and eggs to even OJ and ice creams. *Their lunch sandwich special is a fantastic deal: giant custom sandwich, 1/2pint deli salad, cookie and a 12oz can of soda--all for only $12! *Fantastic alcohol selection that includes a huge cooler of micro brews, wine and high-end liquor. *Love that they carry goods from local purveyors like Treat® Ice Cream (San José), Marianne's® ice cream (Santa Cruz), Gizdich Ranch pies (Watsonville), aforementioned Clover-Stornetta Farms (Santa Rosa), Greenlee's Bakery (San José), Silva Sausage (Gilroy) and Neto's Sausage (Santa Clara). *Butcher case is loaded with top-quality meat selection and a huge selection of pre-cooked and fresh sausage. *Deli is superb and has all the meats and cheeses one could hope for--including head cheese! =D *Huge Italian section full of pasta, sauces, oils and the like. Lol but with that said I was pleasantly surprised that this closer location popped up on DoorDash. My family and I ordered a few things. My fav default sammich wasn't listed so I ordered a build your own sammich (turkey and cheese on a Dutch roll). The ingredients were fresh, everything tasted okay. But the bread failed. It wasn't crunchy at all, very soggy actually. Next time we order I will pick a different bread choice. So heads up to any Dutch crunch bread lovers, don't pick that option. Other standout items include a good butcher, some nice wine, cheese, and charcuterie for your next picnic and some fun local/small batch ice creams and other sweets. Produce is lovely, if a small selection. They also have the usual suspects.. breads, canned goods, dry goods, paper products, dairy, and so forth... but everything is a bit on the pricey side for me to do my regular shopping here. I called in my order and they take fax orders too. I ordered a sandwich w/roast beef, premium ham and pepper jack on a sourdough slice. It was delicious, the meat was fresh and bread was soft. I read rave reviews of the deli counter so I drove over here for a sandwich. Unfortunately Zanotto's didn't live up to the hype; picture only one meager quarter-sized slice of tomato on each half of the sandwich, paired with super thick slices of red onion. Love how the butcher working at 430pm on 11/03/2024 saw us, interracial gay couple, at the counter and proceeds to help the power walking older lady who just cut us off...maybe he didn't see us but my husband waited and another couple came after us and he looked at us and them and said who was next and proceeded to help the couple that just came in. we left now buying anything.
