Food and vibes always bomb. Hookah HITS! My fave dish is the seafood pasta. The staff does well majority of the time too. Perfect place to watch the games too.

Let me start by saying the food here was amazing and I don't think you can go wrong with anything that you pick. The service however, was mediocre at best. The waitress wasn't very friendly or attentive and it didn't seem like any of the staff wanted to be at work. Lol When we went, it was happy hour so it was a half off of any sized hookah, but the waitress didn't seem to understand what happy hour meant for the food menu, so it was a little bit confusing especially because it wasn't printed on anything. It was a nice, clean, cute venue and I would go again because mediocre service doesn't necessarily deter me when the food is really good. Everything was seasoned well so if you're a person that complains about salt/seasoning this wouldn't be the place for you either, but I loved it.

Hmmm.... Where do I start? GVO is one of those spots that you keep in your back pocket so that you can take certain cousins or friends from out of town that like no-frill turn up spots (read: rachet - sorry not sorry), you take them here. A friend and I came here a couple months ago on a Sunday afternoon and here's what I got: 1. Red Velvet Chicken and Waffles: I was really excited to try this and was disappointed. The chicken was really good but the waffle was nothing to write home about at all. It wasn't sweet. It wasn't good. I wish I had gotten the regular waffles, which also would have been cheaper. 2. Mimosa Flight: SKIP THIS! This tasted horrible. The best drink in the flight was the mango, but all of the other "mimosas" tasted like gas-station flavored drink mixed with the lowest-bottom-shelf five buck chuck wine they could find. 3. The Oxtail Dinner to Go with a side of greens and candied yams: This was really, really good! The oxtails had great flavor and were really tender. The candied yams and greens were really good too! Now here's the issue.... Somehow all of this came out to $89?! LIKE HOW?! SERIOUSLY, HOW?! The Red Velvet Chicken and Garbage was like $21, the horrible mimosa flight was $15, and the oxtail dinner was $30. All of that should have been like $66 plus tax and tip, so I'm not understanding how that turned into $89?! HOW SWAY?! Seriously, make it make sense because THE MATH AIN'T MATHING AT ALL! Charging $24 for tax and tip and whatever miscellaneous service charge you decided to tack on is outrageous! That was the icing on the cake for me on why I probably won't return to GVO. The vibe during the time when I went wasn't anything to write home about but I'm sure that it gets lit later in the evening. Still, probably not my vibe. Call me bougie if you must. I'll live. This was way too overpriced for a bigger version of a hole in the wall, crawling with dusties. It's a no for me, dawg. If I ever go back, and that's a strong "if", I would just go to order the oxtail dinner to go again, and would just sit at the bar and have one drink while I wait, and that's it. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....."Well I won't be fooled again." - Your homegrown President.

Came to GVO for the taco Tuesday special, the manager was very welcoming. I got 2 chicken & 2 steak tacos. They were just okay but, they are $2 so i'm not complaining. I wish the dj played some R&B and knew how to mix the songs better lol. I will definitely come back to try the menu.

Food was good here, waitress was nice and the place was lit ngl. I heard it good on weds, Fridays and Saturdays. We went on a Sunday to celebrate my sister's bday and it was fun. Overpriced but good overall. DJ was doing their thing too.

Top notch! Great night life party spot! Gets busy on the weekends so you may have to buy a table. You just have to order a certain amount of food and drinks BUT it's worth it. Otherwise, there's a wait on the weekends. The food and drinks are bomb! They do not disappoint. I had the fried chicken wings, greens & yams and they came out hot, seasoned and on point. We also ordered the lamb chops with Brussels and potatoes and it was fire! The drinks were strong and we ordered hookah. The whole night was vibing! Good ambiance, great crowd, prompt service and the dj was jamming! I will visit frequently just for the food alone anytime.. It was that good! A must try visit if you love great soul food. There are other food options, plenty of parking and they do ID.

GVO is a cute little lounge located off Rosemeade (the old draft house). They have hookah and a smoking area in the back. The vibe is nice, the staff is friendly and the food is surprisingly very good. For happy hour GVO has $5 patron shots from 5-8 on Fridays and Saturdays. They also have a variety of food options on happy hour such as wings (delicious) and cheese cheese sticks. According to the other individuals in my party, the lamb chops, catfish, greens and mac and cheese are also worth trying. The only complaint I have is that I drink kettle one on the rocks and the price of $13 a drink is pretty steep considering the area. I ordered 1 single and 3 doubles and my ticket was over $100 for 4 drinks. GVO......Please add some more drink specials If you're in the area, GVO is definitely worth trying.

My friend and I visited during the week to enjoy their happy hour. We enjoyed multiple margs and a few shots for a great price. My friend ordered tenders and fries, I dined on catfish, hush puppies, and mac. The only issue was the Mac. It had way too much seasoning and they just made it too complicated. The music was really good and d service was just okay. All in all we had a good time and I'll definitely be back.

I came here for taco Tuesday with a friend and the birria tacos surprised me with how good they were! Our bartender Tay was very nice and had excellent customer service and made sure our needs were met. The drinks were strong and good, the music was very good and the atmosphere was fun and welcoming; I will be back with friends.

Greetings, I've been here more times than I can count! From the curb to the door, security, staff, and owner/GM, they truly take on the "good vibes only" aura! Consistent and superb customer service every time! Delicious reasonably priced food (wings, chops, catfish, greens, mac n cheese, and the appetizer spread are my favs), great drinks, and a satisfying happy hour (5-8: T-F/Sat-Sun), hookah service and covered patio aa well! They have a number of events throughout the week/weekends (karaoke, day parties, etc). But it's the "vibe" and professional service that keeps me coming back! They even do creative theme days, which I love! From couples to full parties, they can and will accommodate your needs! The establishment is always clean! They will always have my service and support! Check out their Instagram https://www.instagram.com/gvodallas?igsh=MWl1dzZtdXF4eGg3cQ== !

"Hostels hanging out and gossiping smoking hookah and did not tell us seating as we walked in
    Habiba O.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Decided to come here after googling for a nearby hookah lounge. Got here at 9:40pm. Security checked our ids and we walked inside. No seats at the bar so walked right to the patio. Was attempting to find a seat but all the open tables (aLOT) had a sign that said "do not sit here. Reserved, see hostess" There were two waitresses sitting and chatting at the table next to us. One was staring at me so I asked if she worked here and she said "yes" asked if she was the hostess and she said "no". Never once walked up to us or tried to. I had to approach her and ask how to get a table. She said matter of the factly that I was supposed to let the hostess seat me. Told her there was no hostess and she looked at the door and said "oh well she should be there" The other waitress (a tad nicer) explained that the hostess is supposed to stop us but sometimes if you look like you're going to the bar they won't tell you anything. Mind you as a hostess you should know that the bar is full and should be letting everyone know accordingly. Anyways we walk ALL THE WAY out the patio, through the restaurant and out the front door. Come to find out the hostess were two women sitting at a table outside the establishment smoking hookah and gossiping. I had to ask if they were hostess and how is the seating set up. The one with the curly hair (smoking hookah) maybe the hostess friend, idk rolled her eyes. The other proceeded to tell me it was a $125 spend limit. Which was going to be inevitable because there were two of us but at that point you've made me walk all through the restaurant, beg for help and answers just to walk allllllllll the way back and spend $125. Nobody deserved my money or tips. Walked down the strip to Nubia lounge and was greeted with smiles. Attentive hostesses and servers

They feel as if they don't have to provide any type of customer service because they're gonna get the money regardless very entitled. I stopped going here for years for that exact reason. How I ended up here was a birthday party. I was invited to despite how I feel about this establishment I went. Soon as I arrive we were seated and was enjoying my friends's birthday party within the next 20 minutes. I stood up and touch my pants and realized I had a pile of gum on the back of my new pants. I was so upset this was my first time wearing these new pants and now something so disgusting happened. I asked the waitress instead of bringing me my bill to takeoff $25 due to my pants being ruined. She told me she had to go speak to her manager. She kept coming back asking for my money and I kept telling her let me speak to your manager so she later came back and stated my manager stated I can only give you ice. I told her that is unacceptable. I am not about to sit here after I've been drinking and enjoying myself to ice my back of my pants and I can't do anything other than that. The manager came out, stated he did not do that put the gum there.(Which he had a very poor disregarding attitude) I explain to him I never said that you deliberately put the gum there. I stated that this is your establishment so you are suppose to take accountability for the fact that the seats were not clean properly. I'm only asking for my bill to be comped. He told me in front of my friends that he's not gonna do that. The best thing he can do for me is bring me some ice. I said, sir do you want me to pull my pants down and it's establishment because what would ice do for gum being on the bottom portion of my bottom half? He said ma'am, please pay your bill and that's it. This is a reminder and warning to everyone who thinks about going to this establishment. DON'T GO!! They do not care about you!!! The only thing they want is your money. They are slightly racist. That man spoke so rudely to me when I was ever bit of respectful to him and I couldn't have gotten out of hand but I wanted to show him what he was suppose to do as a manager or owner of an established that ruined a customer's night and clothes. I have been experiencing this for years. That's why I stopped going to this establishment. I never went for many years until my friend who was very close to me birthday, and I gave him one chance for her. She witnessed the entire thing and stated she would never go there again as well. I will always be an advocate of no one spending money with them!!

I do believe this is Marissa reflective of who the waitress is at the time and who the promoter is at the time but I do believe this is not a bad option if you want to stay local and you want to have a section and not worry about people falling all over you mixing with the crowd.

This spot is BYOB, which would have been great had we known in advance, but it's a nice perk for an after-hours spot. We paid $20 to get in, which didn't seem too bad. However, if you plan to fully enjoy the experience, you need to get a section. Here's where things went south with ABI. A young man invited us to join his section that he had already paid for, which was cool. But then, the waitress told him he couldn't have any more guests, right in front of us, and said, "If you want to sit here, you have to pay me $20 each." Wait, what? The guy asked why we were being charged when he had already paid for the section. It was literally him and his homeboy. She repeated it, and security came over to back her up. It felt like we were being hustled. To make matters worse, this was after I had already ordered hookah. If we didn't pay, we wouldn't have had a place to smoke it. So, we ended up paying an extra $40 on top of the $50 for the hookah, which just didn't sit right with me. They also had people walking around taking pictures, then harassing you to buy them. Honestly, the whole night felt like the staff was just trying to hustle us. Since we were out of town, we paid the price, but be cautious about the workers trying to make extra money through some questionable tactics. DJ was good. A mix between Hip Hop, Rap, R&B and afro beats. Would I recommend this place? Not because of the experience we had. It just felt unnecessary and shady to me.
