We did a major renovation with GW and I could write a whole book about that unfortunate experience and everything that was done wrong there, including some shady practices of conducting business, but I would sum it up and say it was not good, to put it mildly. Feel free to send me a private message if you really want all the gory details, but trust me - you don't want to go through what we went through on this project. It might also be worth noting that the person listed as the owner of this company sold the company to new owners some time ago, so I am not sure all of the reviews reflect the current ownership. I can't say enough about Matt and the folks at GW. We had a very sticky situation where code enforcement was called on us just a few weeks after moving into a new house. I'm not exaggerating when I say that Matt stepped in and saved the day. He walked us through what the process looked like moving forward and even went to the city with us...and didn't charge us! There was no high pressure sales tactics or concern that this wasn't a big, high dollar job. We could have still gone with a different company even at that point, but I couldn't imagine finding someone more trustworthy and genuinely invested in us personally. My wife and I highly recommend GW construction and our experience was wonderful from start to finish. I was looking for a general contractor that could help me with my home needs. Matt and Gary came by the same day on such a short notice. They looked at everything, and I mean everything. Explained the process in detail, and provided a bid the same day. Didn't have to wait for days, as other contractors never even got back to me. Fantastic team at GW Construction! We were a bit nervous selecting a new contractor after a terrible experience with our previous one, but Matt and Jody made us immediately comfortable from the time they stepped into our house, and listened to our requirements and our concerns. Their advice and experience was also very valuable to us when having to make decisions across different options. Our project mostly consisted of windows replacement and expansion of our dining area with French Doors to a new patio, including built-in shelving and cabinets around the front window in our living room. We talked to them about a couple more projects as well, and Matt was very helpful when he broke down the quotes as we wanted to see them with the various build options we were considering. All along the process the best part with them, besides being very easy to get along with, was full transparency and clear communication, which is not always common based on our past experiences. The candor was mutual, and they were sure to be addressing our concerns extremely promptly. I cannot say enough great things about the team who did the work, in particular Gonzalo who had great attention to detail and who made sure we were happy with the results. My fiancee and I were looking for a remodel and GW was one of the companies that we called. We met with Matt and I knew right away that this was the guy for the job. He listened to what we wanted, and explained what would need to be done. One guy from a different company came and told us what he was going to do, not what we wanted done, ya, no. So we talked price and what we wanted was out of our price range. We discussed the process with Matt and he found a way to get us everything we needed for the remodel. He really worked with us and the price, we were/are very grateful for that. When we spoke to Matt he listened first, and then explained everything. He was honest and upfront and made no promises that he couldn't deliver on. He knows his stuff and made us feel very comfortable. I'm not going to bore you with the details, but we signed a contract and set some dates. The project was finished a week early, which is awesome. After the contract was signed we wanted to add one more set of cabinets. Matt had no issues. He really did everything he could for us. We had his number and were able to talk to him about any concerns that we had at any time. His crew all knew their jobs and did them well. We never had any issues with them at the house. They were all very polite and worked well. Matt and his guys so impressed me that if I have ANY more work to be done, I will only go through him. I cannot express how much he worked with us on the price, and how he answered any and every question we had even on the weekend! Review changed 9-2-16: The crew did do what was written on the contract, and did in fact do some jobs that were not in writing, such as capping a broken pipe near a gate they repaired. The reason for the four stars is because some promises that were given verbally, i.e., to have the construction debris removed, were not kept. I ended up having to haul a lot of old boards down the hill and then having to pay someone else to remove them and some other debris that was left behind. It was my fault for not being more businesslike. After I made the final payment there was some equipment left behind, so I thought that workers would be back to finish the clean-up. Sometime later when I tried to reach GW/Noli construction through their website and by phone and did not get a response, I felt very stupid. I realize there was no one to blame but myself. Since my original 3-star review I have received calls and visits from GW/Noli Construction personnel and have been told I would be reimbursed for the cost of having the construction debris hauled away; however, I explained that my purpose in writing a lower review was not to make anyone lose their job, but to let people who chose contractors based on Yelp reviews know they needed to exercise due diligence. Be smarter than I was: Get everything in writing, don't make the final payment until everything is completed, and be sure to check identification and license information. I wish I had followed the advice at http://www.cslb.ca.gov/Consumers/Consumers.aspx and had done more research. Sigh. Too soon old, too late smart. read more

This review is long over due! Matt and Jody are awesome. My husband and I purchased a home in September 2018 and wanted to update practically the entire home. We found GW construction on Yelp, called during the week at about 7 PM, and Matt answered (which I was surprised as most contractors are off at 5 sharp or earlier). Matt was able to come out the next day to go over everything we wanted done- new HVAC, tile floors throughout the house, baseboards, stucco, painting inside and out, replace a window with a sliding glass door, and installation of toilets, sink fixtures, lighting fixtures, etc. Matt had Jody help as our project manager throughout the process. Jody was great! She kept us up to date, worked with the crews, and sent us updated pictures. Matt and Jody were always available, weekends and nights. On many occasions Matt met us at the house at 8:30 PM at night to go over things. He took the time to answer all of our questions, and several times took the time to review the design changes we wanted to make, in person. He understood that we work an 8-5, so many times made himself available to talk and meet after normal business hours. He never made us feel like we were inconveniencing him, and that says a lot about the type of person that Matt is. The remodel turned out great! We love our home and would say if anyone is looking to make renovations, want a great company that is reliable, available, has the best communication, and will get the job done right for you...then go with Matt at GW Construction! We had a warranty with them for our patio from the previous owner of our house. No where on the contract did it say there was no carry over from owners. We had a verbal contract via email stating that they guaranteed their work for 5 years. When I reached out to to GW the person who I spoke with made me feel like he was doing me a favor but upholding the warranty. I let him know that if there was any indication of them not upholding the warranty once the house changed owners we would have worked with the previous owner to have her fix it before we purchased the home as we were working very closely with her. The patio needed resealing from a job they had done previously. They came out and resealed it. After 2 months it is peeling again. I wouldn't let them come back to fix it again because I am skeptical of their knowledge of the work. We had this same issue at our previous home and had trouble finding a reputable company that was capable of fixing the issue. They may be good at some jobs but for the patio I suggest using Magnesite or a specialized company just for the patio. read more

This Company called me out of the blue claiming they spoke with me before and wanted to arrange an appointment to give me an estimate on work and landscaping. I inforrmed them I did not need their service, I have other contractors, to please remove my name from their list ie put me on your "DO NOT CALL" List and to please not call me anymore. They ignore my request and keep talking,. I had to hang up on them. Since then, they call me at least once a week telling me the same old line; " We spoke last week re. landscaping & other jobs and would like to set up an appointment" . I again informed them to stop calling me, take my name off your list. They continue talking until I hang up. They have phoned me at least 3-4 times since these 2 instances, and refuse to take my name off their list and continue trying to make an appointment. I hate Businesses like GW Construction who will not follow my REQUESTS to not call me anymore. In fact, after I ask them each phone call to not call me anymore, they continue talking, ignoring my request, telling me how reputable they are, similar to that review how they take advantage of Senior Citizens. Avoid this Company like the Plague! They will not take "NO!" for an answer. read more

Incredibly poor communicators! If good communications is important, don't use these guys! I live in a condominium and explained that to their scheduler. He booked me for a call back the next day but no one called. This should have been my first clue on how bad this was going to get. The next day, no call to get an appointment with GW. I called them, he apologized and we set up for an appointment the following Tuesday. A half hour after the scheduled appointment, no one came so I called them. 2nd clue on what poor communicators they are. Talking to the scheduler again, he once more apologized but he stated the "appointment" was supposed to be for a call back by one of their estimators. I said that it was still poor form for someone not to at least call me at the appointed time. Once more an apology came out from him and that someone would get with me within the hour. Two and a half hours later, no call, no visit! Called GW back, he once again apologized. He asked for me to please wait for a call from their estimator. Several minutes later, a guy calls me and sounds angry and perturbed! He states that GW does not do HOA work. What a waste of my time! Do not understand the high star count! So disappointed with this company. The yelp reviews were favorable and I saw one of my neighbors had contracted with them so I gave them a call. I needed several projects done from restoring/repairing patio and retaining wall and constructing a new fence. The initial phone contact was pleasant and they sent out 2 guys (Matt and another) to look at the jobs and provide a bid. Matt seemed more interested in his cell phone than my jobs. Every 2 minutes he was looking at his phone. It's good to be busy but very poor customer service. He spent about 25 minutes looking at the projects and told me he would provide a bid. Weeks later, no bid. I texted him requesting the bid and his response was that we would talk next week and set up an appointment for him to bring his computer and write it all down. He had his computer with him at our last meeting and to date, I've never heard back from him. read more

The actual wall itself gets a lot of attention because it is so well constructed. I am now looking into the Iron gates and GW offered to research the cost with the Iron gate company they use to see if I'm being offered a good deal, which I very much appreciate, as they did not have to do this because I am purchasing the gates myself. I will definitely re-visit this page to give my overall assessment of the completed project. But I am happy that the company was prepared to meet with me and discuss my concerns. They came out and explained all the details to make sure I got what I wanted and I understood everything. It was very professional and pleasant. This past spring, we hired GW Construction to do an epoxy garage floor project at our house. Ultimately, the finished product was acceptable to us, but there were some major bumps in the road along the way. I feel like it is only fair to share what we experienced, even if they tried their best to make things right in the end. 1. Dad and I were asked to move the small stuff out of the garage, we were promised and contract states that it would all be done. 2. On day of estimate, Asher measured and did not mention sides of garage, added $300 after the fact to do the sides. 3. On day of contract signing 3/25, we were promised any color we want, "Color is not a problem" -Asher 4. Two days in to work 3/29, no color chart has been provided. 5. On day of contract signing, we were told that work would be done beginning on Wednesday 3/28. 6. I had to call Asher on Tuesday 3/27 to ask when work would start and was told workers would arrive between 4-5. Worker showed up at 5:20 on 3/28. 7. Contracted work is being treated as a side job. 8. Employee grinding floors is not responsible for the contract. Contractor needs to fulfill contract. 9. On 3/30, Asher's employee brought a color chart for Behr epoxy paint. No samples of flake were brought to show color choices. On 3/29, the same employee had discussed the Behr paint with me, telling me that Rustoleum product was superior. On 3/30, he then told my dad that he believed the exact opposite. 10. On the day the contract was signed, I asked Asher how experienced his crew is in applying epoxy garage floors and he stated, "They do it on a daily basis." When the employee arrived to work on the floors, he told me this is his first time working with the contractor and he admitted that he has never applied the marble design epoxy that I showed him as an example of what we might like. read more
