Our group of 7 came here to float the river and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We had brought our own pump to inflate our tubes and the staff was so kind to inflate all of our tubes for free. We also needed an extra tube for a cooler and they loaned us one as well. I've camped at KL Ranch for the past three years and it's starting to feel like home away from home. The campgrounds is right along the Comal River - and no matter what spot you snag, you have waterfront camping with a beautiful view of the cliff. Campsites range from $34-50 per night and include water and electricity access. There's an admission fee on top of that per person, and those prices vary if it's a holiday weekend or not. The grounds have restrooms, showers ($1 in quarters per shower), campsite parking; you can bring your own tubes too. There is little to no phone or WiFi service, but that's a good thing. Get your nature on, relax, be present and enjoy your getaway! No dog allowed. :( read more

Make sure to camp in the bottom not on the top as the road runs next to the top and the road is fairly busy with motorcycles at night. Bring ear plugs. Every time we drove by this campground we told ourselves we needed to stay here. Have stayed at some other places on River Rd. and they were fine but K & L matched us & what we look for when camping. Had a huge site so neighbors were not right on top of us & we also liked how the river was right in front of us vs. down below a hill from our campsite-like we had at other campgrounds. Having a 3 year old grandson visit made this ideal as we felt safer without the hill & the water wasn't too deep for him. He liked being free & able to move about on his own in the water. We also liked just sitting on the river's edge enjoying our morning coffee or early evening adult beverages. So peaceful. I believe this is also the campground that frowns upon cussing or bad language, which we appreciated. The last campground up the road would benefit with these rules. We were extremely concerned about neighbors language in front of our children & grandchildren. The f word was used so much & so loudly that we considered moving sites. The staff at K & L was excellent, both on the phone when booking this site, as well as helping us find availability for next year. Never once did they lose patience or get irritated with all of our questions, etc. Just an excellent campground. read more

We had a weekend reservation and had to cancel due to the inclement weather from a storm that was coming in. I told them it was our first time bringing our daughter camping and didn't want her to have a bad experience with the high chance of severe thunderstorms this weekend. I was only asking if we could get a partial camp credit for a future weekend. I understand it was the day of cancellation and was only looking for a partial credit towards another weekend. Little did I expect They would only give us a 7 dollar credit towards what we paid for our child. Horrible customer service. Clearly they don't care about experiences for kids and families and the opportunity to bring back reoccurring business for the future. First time here, stayed 2 nights and we had a great time! Had an RV spot - #93 I believe. Spots are nice, spacious and maintained well. All right on the river - walk in access to the water. Right by some fun little rapids that the kids enjoyed. Most of the water area by campground is not very deep, can stand/walk in most areas. Only downside is most spots lack shade and they don't have gravel/concrete pads to park your trailer/motorhome. read more

I've been here a few times in our pop up camper, the river is good, clean and flows well. The bathrooms are relatively clean, long lines for showers in the peak seasons. The campers that we've encountered are friendly. I like this place because they offer a shuttle to drop you off up river if you buy a wristband at the store on river rd it's cheaper if you have your own tube. I give it 4 starts because the curfew, they'll patrol and tell you to lower the music, they are also STRICT on the whole wristband thing, no pets are allowed, most spots are limited shade and the camps are close to each other. **also during Easter no cascarones(confetti) is allowed except in designated roped areas** read more

The campsites were spacious enough that we are not piled on top of each other and your vehicle can be near your camp site. The cons were the porta potty's were extremely disgusting and the two restrooms that were available were a long walking distance from the camp site. There were employees coming to check on the music but when people were fighting they were not there. To get into the water you have to cross the road. It was hard to get into the water because there was a lot of grass, branches and mud. read more

My husband & I stayed at KL Ranch, in our tent. We had such an awesome time. The park & staff were amazing! They have a little store with a few things and will air up tubes for $1 each. DO NOT RECOMMEND. For my mother's birthday, she wanted to spend a day at the river with her family and grandkids, March 6, 2021...so she booked a spot that looked to be pleasant. The majority of family got there before my wife and I, mind you she's 8 months pregnant. My wife and I and 2 dogs (Labrador Retrievers) pull up to the entrance with all the food and birthday cake to feed the family, and the girl at the front desk says my dogs aren't allowed, which was frustrating. But the problem I then had was the fact I asked if I could take my pregnant wife to the spot and let her out and give my family all the food so they could begin eating, and the dogs would stay in the truck the whole time and I would take them back home before I came back to enjoy family time. They said I couldn't give my family the food even if the dogs stayed in the truck while I did it! I said, so you're telling I have to take all the food and cake back home to drop dogs off and make my family wait even longer? She said YUP! This business has TERRIBLE policies. They aren't interested in making money either because my father drove over the night before to reserve the spots for the next day and they wouldn't let him reserve spots unless he was camping on it immediately. Which is absurd. My Father said, "You're telling me I can't pay you cash right now to reserve a spot tomorrow afternoon...unless I sleep there in a tent tonight???" She said that's correct. Overall it's just problem after problem and a terrible business model. The property is nice but the way it's run is awful. When I came back after dropping off my now sad dogs, a nicer gentleman employee even asked, "I have to ask, no dogs in the truck?" I said, NOPE SURE DONT". Long story short, there are plenty of amazing campground and locations on River Road such as Lazy L&L Campground and Roy's Rentals that welcome all family members, including pets. DONT COME TO K&L Ranch Campground!!! read more

I have been coming to KL for about 20 years. I will be 25 this Saturday and I'm going with my family to celebrate at the river this weekend. This place holds a big a place in my heart. It's like a second home. We go at least twice a summer and it's something we all look forward to every year. I only wish they allowed pets. My dog child would love it here. read more

Never coming back to this camp site. Security was rude and they charge you for ever little thing. Just to get picked up from floating the river is $13 a person. Security kept telling us to turn our music down even though we didn't have it loud at all. Porta potties were filthy and disgusting. read more

Originally this was our number one choice, but it was all booked. So we made reservations at another campsite.... well that place was bad. We called K L to see if they had any opening and we snagged our site. This place is on the water and have lax restrictions. You can bring your own tubes and can park more than one car next to your campsite. The site was roomie, had a fire ring and grate. Just overall great. Just wished we had been able to get one of the site with grass, electricity and water. read more

My husband & I stayed here last year. We had a good time but it was just 2 days. We made our reservation for the following year during the summer. Unfortunately this area has had lots of rain, & the river is high, currents are strong. We are paying 43.00 plus 12.00 for our teenage because he is considered an adult, 6.00 for each of our other children. There is NO sewage hook-ups & you have to PAY for your showers in crappy facilities one shower had NO hot water. NOT worth the $$$$ read more

We have been coming here for about 20 years and can't imagine spending July 4th anywhere else. We know the rules and policies so we never have any problems. Yes they keep a close eye on everything which keeps the experience from being unruly. When we first started coming here River Road was filled with weekends of ambulances and police responding to events, but not at KL because they enforce their rules. It's not always to our liking but we know why the rules exist. We will continue to come here as long as we can. read more

I came to KL Ranch 2 weeks ago. It was convenient bc it was closer to the trance of River Road and on the water. However, it's not my go to and probably wouldn't come back. Pro's: cheap $12 person to camp overnight On the water Cons: strict curfew at 11am. Several times the security came by to ask us to change our music and turn it down. No running water in their bathrooms No mirror in the bathrooms They charge you to use their showers not too bad, but still annoying. $1 for 6 minutes Overall, KL is okay but pretty quiet campsite and don't have a lot of amenities to offer. In my personal opinion, I would rather pay a little more and enjoy more amenities 2 miles up the road at Mountain Breeze where I can have a good time and not worry about being too loud playing Heads Up with my friends. read more

I have camped all over this river for 35 yrs. Tried KL and at first it was good. After last weekend (13-15) I now know I have to find another. Got there on Friday and tent camped. The port a potties had not been dumped at all!!! Went to front and they said it was just dumped Wednesday- I got there Friday. I call BS!!!! stunk, nasty and had to walk to other end to use the restroom. They didn't care at all. I wasn't only one to complain. Unless you have a RV I don't recommend it, its a shame to because I thought they had it going on and it has some sweet spots to cap. read more

It can get crowded especially on weekends. They sit on River Road, so it can be loud. Be careful which site you get. I got site 59 because it was electric and on the end thinking we wouldn't have to worry about two sites next to us. It's a very narrow site. Our tents didn't fit. You can get your dimensions for any site over the phone before you book. They are very friendly and responded quickly to all my questions. they sit on a great section of the river. Site 59 was deeper. If you want a place to put your chair in the water or let you little ones site in the shallow sections, get a site closer to the "falls." If you talk to the staff about your needs, I'm sure they'll help you get the perfect spot. The sites get taken up fast, so don't wait until the last min. We had a great weekend even though the water was flowing low and slow. We will be back! read more

The place is pretty. The management is ridiculous! They say that they are a relaxing place to relieve stress. So not true! The site next to us had a family that had 5 tents and a pop up on two spots. Their space was so full that their tents were right on the chalk line. They had to walk on our site to get out. There was just way too many people there. Most places have a two tent maximum. The owner said that he didn't care. They charge by the person so he is getting money for the liter of people to our spot with only 3. I am sure you could probably share my lovely experience with the horde of people in this family seeing as the come here once a month . Management said that the have a different view of what "loud" music is and didn't care basically. They played disco and Tejano until midnight and nonstop from 7am. The music could be heard 7 campsites down. We asked them politely to turn it down 3x. Other neighbors asked them too. The management just blew us off. The staff is not the brightest either. The last time we were here, the staff put us in a site with our RV that did not have water and failed to mention that. We also asked which site was better shaded. She said the one she directed us to. We get there and there are no trees. We walk the the other one later. That one had trees and water...what! We had already leveled out the trailer and set up. I just have to shake my head at the owner and staff. read more

Had a great time with family and friends, we paid $10 parking, plus $20 a person for a shuttle ride, which was a bit pricey for our group of 14. The staff at their outdoor desk station where you purchase your shuttle tickets were extremely rude! The shuttle driver and people who help you load up on the busses were so much nicer and helpful. I camped here from 8/1-8/3 and it was AMAZING! The campsite was big and the view was beautiful. For camping on the river, it is really quiet, and family friendly. The bathrooms were clean and the employees that we encountered were extremely friendly. If you are going tubing with kids, go in the morning. By the afternoon, it's a huge party. My husband had to pull a puking drunk girl out of the river and onto our site in the afternoon. Gross. In all, this campground is awesome. I will definitely be back! read more

Let me start with saying, we did not reserve our stay with KL ranch. We reserved through jerrys rentals site. A site that has no mention of not having a dog. ( I'm on jerrys site as i type this for confirmation). We get to jerrys rentals and they send us to the KL ranch store and notice I have a dog. Said no dogs allowed. I calmly said, I looked on the website and nothing was listed. So we get to the store, they called my car In and said I had a dog. Like I was some sort of criminal. She said its all over the website. Well maybe KL ranch website, but not jerrys campsite. We didn't know this is who we'd be staying with. She said they should have told you while making he reservation. Obviously didn't or else I would have left my 6lb Pomeranian at home in the AC! She said it was also in the confirmation email. No email was sent. At which she responded, "oh bc it's the holiday weekend, no emails were sent out" so let me get this straight, nothing listed on our original rentals site, nothing said on the phone and no email confirmation telling us this information, and the first we see if it is when we pull up to the gate, and we are supposed to magically know this!? She gave us 4-5 names of dog boarders(which to me says, this happens often) and of course none of them worked. So lucky for me, I downloaded an app that finds dog sitters and was able to drop my dog off so I can enjoy a couple of hours on the river. And also, the staff drives by your site A LOT!! Probably looking for more criminals like myself. As an avid camper, we chose this last minute site bc it had availability. And I can see why. Worst experience ever. They were truly mean people. read more
