They just don't care. The building is disgusting. Hasn't been cleaned since the 90s when the picture on the ceiling was put up. The staff could care less about anyone that is of color, they just treat people of color differently. As if they are a commodity. The cook stays eating food off of the grille. The health department needs to really check this dump out.

I love going to this restaurant for my Cleveland Gyro! It's been a staple small restaurant chain in the Cleveland area for years. Just be open minded when you visit because it's not very impressive to the eye but I promise they have great food inside lol. I usually go here for breakfast to get their pancakes which are always pretty solid. Today my husband and I ordered a gyro and a gyro burger with fries. The gyro is made with lamb meat, lettuce, onion and tomato. The cucumber sauce all over is a must. I took a bite of the gyro burger and while it was tasty I must say I prefer the pita bread with my gyro. This place is worth a try I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Walk in and take a look at the big board for the specials as well as the regular menu items. This is a no frills down to business greasy spoon that is sure to delight you palate. From gyro omelets to fries as well as chicken and waffles.. the diverse menu is sure to have something for nearly everyone. I usually call ahead so my order is ready or has a chance of being ready shortly after my arrival 10-15min later. The food portions are usually HUGE.. and are quite a value. The 24 hour business program is also helpful to those that work odd hours or are just out for a late night. Today was burnt chicken day.... however the cashier offered to remake it without me asking. 5 stars on that! I opted to wait for a fresh serving. The place is pretty dirty and one shouldn't look too hard at the eclectic decor. Now down to the food. I find it delicious and filling. The waffle today was moist and fluffy. The chicken was crisp and hot. Log cabin type maple syrup aside... this is still outstanding for flavor and value. Just don't forget to wash your hands after you get home. Maybe a piece of baklava to go would hit the spot too??!!! Enjoy... just skip over the dirt.

The atmosphere felt genuine and community-driven. The food was the highlight-easily one of the most creative, thoughtful, and flavorful breakfast experiences I've had in the area in a long time. The originality of the dishes really stood out. The grits, in particular, were excellent-something that's surprisingly easy to get wrong, but they executed perfectly. One of the most impressive aspects was the takeout quality. I ordered a meal to go and didn't eat it until 15-20 minutes later, yet it still held up incredibly well-no reheating needed. That level of consistency is hard to achieve. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot to friends and colleagues. Casual service meets fantastic food in an environment perfect for families & groups of friends…read more Each time I visit Northstar Cafe I love it more (and wish more deeply it would expand to a Westside location). For brunch, my go to is the biscuits and gravy. The gravy has a good heat to it and the biscuits are flaky and buttery. For lunch, the buddha bowl and chicken & avocado sandwich are both elevated classics. My husband raves about the fish sandwich - and the salad that comes as a side is anything but simple. When you enter, you'll order with the cashier and then find a seat with your number. Typical counter service - but what makes Northstar special is that the interior feels more like fine dining and the food is much much better than your standard fare. Worth a trip for its own merits, the fact that it's located in a nice shopping area is also a draw, especially for a weekend when you want to have a leisurely stroll.

You enter and order at the counter and then get a table. We were not planning on desserts but while ordering our food, they got fresh cookies and we had to order two. It was definitely the best decision of the day. Portions are good here and dishes are well prepared with perfect combination of textures and tastes. I especially loved the sweet potato hash. Frittata was good too. We also had hot chocolate and hot apple cider... Perfect for the cold January morning. Overall we liked this place and highly recommend it.

Orderd the lobster and shrimp with white wine sauce and sweet potato pancakes. The white wine sauce was perfect with the lobster. The shrimp were cooked perfectly too. Parking was easy to find with both parking in the square and behind the building. We were immediately sat down without a reservation on a Saturday morning. It did take our server a minute to take our order but after that drinks and food came out in a timely matter. I was not a fan of the strawberry mimosa as it was syrupy if I can call it that. Very thick. My boyfriend and I had the CBC Cheesesteak Omelet and I'm usually hesitant with omelets but it was so good. Just the right balance of eggs, meat and veggies. The grits were good and I didn't have to add any salt or sugar. The biscuit was just a regular biscuit, there was nothing spectacular about it. The potatoes were also really good, my first time having purple sweet potatoes and I was not disappointed. I would recommend and return.

At least new to me. As mentioned I haven't been here in a while. Wait to be seated when we came in. It took a few minutes but a table was cleaned for us and we sat. Nice crowd for a Thursday afternoon. Hostess is also the cashier. She gave us menus. Then we waited about 15 mins till a server came with silverware. She took our order. A chicken salad sandwich and the special chicken paprikash. I wanted to try it. Then we waited some more. At least 20 mins to get our drinks. Water with lemon. Then another 30 mins for food. It was hot when we got it. So it was fresh. Just took forever. I also got a cup of soup with my paprikash so I chose the mushroom barley. It was very thick, almost stew like. Lots of barley but not too many mushrooms. It was ok. Wouldn't get it again. The paprikash was ok. It's a ok portion. Not heaping. Ok though. It tasted ok too. Not too much distinct flavor. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't get it again. Mom's chicken salad on wheat was just ok too. For the more than hour we waited to get our food, this was not a great experience. When we went to pay the hostess cashier was MIA and we waited. We were going to pay via cc but decided we did not want to wait any longer and just gave cash. I couldn't even flag someone down to tell them I left the bill by the register. No one there. Not sure if help was the issue. Probably was. Too many customers and not enough wait staff. Or just on their own time. Server seemed surprised we wanted to go boxes and our bill. But I got to get back to work and at this rate I was out of the office more than 1 hr 45 mins. Family place. Long time establishment. Good prices for a family. I don't want to knock. But this was a bit too far for me. I can't wait for my lunch for more than an hour. It may be awhile before I try again.

Overly obsessed with this place…read more I'm not local to Cleveland, but after reading all the amazing online reviews, I decided to bring my family here--and I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is small, cozy, and intimate, but also incredibly clean and beautifully decorated. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. We were greeted immediately, seated right away, and given menus. Our orders were taken quickly, and the service throughout our visit was absolutely outstanding. One thing that really stood out was the teamwork. Everyone helped each other, whether they were working in the front or in the kitchen. You could genuinely tell they cared about creating a great experience for every customer, and that level of hospitality is hard to find. Now for the food... wow. This is easily one of my favorite places I've eaten while visiting Cleveland. I ordered the steak breakfast bowl, and let me tell you--do yourself a favor and order it! The steak was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly, and every bite was delicious. We also ordered the butter croissant with bacon, which was a huge hit, and the chicken and waffles. The fried chicken was absolutely phenomenal--crispy, perfectly seasoned, and honestly some of the best fried chicken I've had. Our only regret was not ordering extra chicken because we wanted even more! If you're looking for incredible food paired with exceptional service, this is the place. I truly hope this business is around for many years to come because every time I'm back in Cleveland, they'll definitely be seeing me again. Highly, highly recommend!
