I've gotta admit I kind of forgot about Big Boy and have not been here for years. Actually, my first job ever was at Bob's big boy in Rocky River Ohio. I have not been to this location in many many years. It seems they have had a complete remodel inside and it kind of resembles an old-school diner, but I have now since come back multiple times and each time I can say that the staff is very nice and accommodating... Vicky has been my server the last couple times and she's very nice. My favorite goat to of course, is a big boy with a side of onion rings, but probably my second favorite is a pretty basic sandwich called the Slim Jim. Onion rings are a little bit of an up charge as well as waffle fries. I would also recommend the chili as a starter for $5.99. The last best part is they give a 20% military discount. Make sure to ask for it and show proper military identification but when any restaurant does this I think it's a very nice gesture. read more

I have been going to Big Boy since I was a kid. The last time I was here it definitely needed a remodel. That has happened and the place looks great. A complete 180. It looks similar to a 1950s diner. I have gone here a couple of times since the remodel and I have had good service each time. They seat us immediately upon arrival and the waitress gets to us pretty quickly. My favorite will always be the big boy, but the dolly chicken sandwich is very good also. They have a large menu selection, so there's something for everyone. I will be back. read more

It's was certainly like we found the goose that laid the golden egg! I grew up with Bob's Big Boy, and we've visited the original location as well as one in Honolulu in our adult years. Some places manage to combine comfort, nostalgia, and a delicious lunch all in one place. From the vinyl booths to the diner-counter, to that darn Hot Fudge Ice Cream Cake, this restaurant is a time machine back to the 70s. Our server was definitely an in-charge kind of evocation of the kind of service we used to get. She was very efficient and nice without any traces of being saccharine. I did ask about the chili spaghetti, and she explained they took off the menu about eight years ago. To be clear, I have one go-to move at Big Boy6, and the chili spaghetti is it. Despite it not being "on the menu," they did offer all the pieces needed to "secret menu" exactly what I needed (and yes, "need" is correct). I ordered a plate of plain pasta with a bowl of chili. The chili was a bit thicker than I would have preferred, but the flavor was what I remembered. The fried pickles were just okay. They did not have much of a punch, but they were hot and fresh. My wife ordered the Big Boy burger, and it was exactly as it should be. The meat was tender & perfectly cooked. Both our entrees satisfied a yearning akin to a lost and starving hiker coming out of the woods to find a table spread with their favorite supper. Now, the true star of the show, as it always is, was the Hot Fudge Ice Cream Cake. Moist cake, rich, hot fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream comes together for the ultimate comfort dessert. I went to the Big Boy on Brookpark Rd. in Cleveland, Ohio on February 14, 2026. The next day, I was throwing up and had terrible diarrhea. I had to go to the hospital, and was admitted for 2 days, because I was so dehydrated from the food poisoning. It was the worst food poisoning I ever had. The restaurant was dirty and trashy. Always an interesting time at the Big Boy. It's like you are transported to a different time, caught between a diner and your grandmas kitchen table. I know what you are thinking it's just a glorified burger place that's out of touch, but it's so much more. Big Boy is nostalgia, it's a simple dinner without frills where you can grab a quick bite or linger if needed. You can get comfort and a surprisingly good meal and deal all at the same time. Big Boy, in my opinion, is making a comeback. The kitchen staff is young and making hand breaded fish and made to order menu items. Again, I get it, but hear me out. You can get breakfast with a shockingly good cup of coffee, a milkshake, piece of pie and a fish fry all in one place. The onion rings were perfect and they had hush puppies that were soft and not too grainy, the fish fry was good and could rival a church fry any day if the week and as al, the coleslaw is consistently creamy and a staple in my book. Sometimes you don't need a silver spoon restaurant with white glove service, you want a quick bite without the regret of a fast food drive thru so you head to Big Boy where you won't be disappointed. So give it a try, smile with Big Boy he will greet you upon arrival and take a pie home when you leave. read more

I went during covid for the 84 cent Big Boy Burger. Buy a pop and the burger was 84 cents. I called in my order where I was told 15 minutes. I was shocked. I got there and the inside was packed like sardines. I waited an hour. The staff was not prepared and lost control. Some staff was yelling at each other and short tempered with some customers. Bags were lined up on the counter getting soggy and cold since no one was making the drinks that go with them to get them out. It was a great idea, but the execution was not well thought out. They asked people to wait outside, but no one listened. People were almost shoulder to shoulder when there should be social distancing and a limit of people inside. When I went to eat my burger the bun was very soggy and almost paper thin. I think if it was not for that it would have been very good. I will have to get it again when they are not busy. read more

I haven't been to a Big Boy since the early 1980's. This one is across the street from my car dealership where my Jeep was being serviced. I got the "popeye's omelette" minus the sauce. They make classic omelettes here, where they cook just the egg, then fold them over the ingredients (ingredients are NOT mixed into the egg). It has mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and onion as well as feta cheese. It is very tasty. My hashbrowns and biscuits, included with omelette were well cooked and flaky respectively. Nothing was too salty, which I was worried about, but needlessly. They have many sweet options for breakfast too. A several page menu of non- breakfast items as well. Good, tasty, (not burned as it is so often at 10:30 am) decaf coffee. A good stop right off of 480. read more

I mean, it hasn't changed much since I was a kid. But still it stands, serving up hot and fresh breakfast buffet in the AM hours. We were not disappointed with the food (fresh pancakes, waffles, sausage, biscuits, and gravy). I loaded my plate up with biscuits, gravy, and sausage and I was in breakfast heaven. I realize this isn't the healthiest breakfast, but every once in a while, you've gotta get back to your roots. Biscuits and gravy were a staple in my family growing up. Do you need a Big Boy fix? In the greater Cleveland area? If so, come here. This location is off I-480 and along commercial and industrial Brookpark Rd. The other Big Boy appears to be in Garfield Heights, toward the East Side suburbs. At any rate, these are your only two choices for Big Boy fare in this area, let alone the entire state, unless it's a Frisch's franchise Big Boy. I don't know what people are crowing about in a negative manner. A Big Boy starts out with about 3.5 stars for me and then it goes from there. Granted, this is not fine dining and the area is sort of vapid, with automakers' plants nearby. While it's on a busy intersection, there is an amply sized parking lot. I ordered a Big Boy combination, meaning the double decker burger with fries. I also added a drink to that. I've been here twice. On the last visit, they featured a slice of strawberry pie for 99 cents with your meal and, even though the pie was not among the ranks of stellar slices of strawberry pie I've had, are you going to complain about a slice of strawberry pie that cost you 99 cents? O.k., we're at 4 stars! Ring the bell! Well, that's not what did it. The prices were reasonable, the quantity of food was satisfying, the service was small town friendly, and the Big Boy burger was neatly stacked, which shows effort that is not always the case at other Big Boy locations. Very sorry that this review does not match the one I did 2 1/2 years ago but neither did the look or the service or the cooking of the food match from last time This restaurant has been going downhill fasssstt over the last four years and today. It reminded me why I drive all the way back to the Eastside where I lived for 50 years to go to the one on Granger where it's bright and light, everyone's friendly, and the cooks know how to cook. Id been driving around for 45 minutes looking for somewhere to dine and I passed this big boy which didn't appear to be too crowded so I went in. It's just as scruffy and dingy and dirty as it was the last time I was there and that's a few months ago. I ordered the classic breakfast--got two basted, eggs, fresh fruit, hotcakes, and double bacon. I received fresh fruit that was so washed wet and shriveled, it belonged in the trash from my refrigerator. It clearly appeared that these grapes, strawberries, and I think they were blueberries, had to be washed of all of the rot and mung so they could still serve them today The basted eggs still had heavy snot --and you know what I'm talking about --on both of them and they were steeped dripping in oil which is not what a basted egg is, this guy needs to go back and learn how to cook. I had the eggs redone once and they were better, but still not great. She admitted to me that the blueberries were frozen -if this is what frozen blueberries thaw to,don't buy them they were as shriveled up as anything I've ever looked at and dripping with the water needed to wash them off. sorry to say this place needs to close just like the Denny's' around town that have closed who employed people who didn't know how to cook. I've been here often enough to have recognized four/five of the servers And they need to be applauded for their continued service to this forlorn place. The service was lacking. You're suppose to be at least asked if you want Cole slaw with a combo, we didn't get that, the servers have to make there own shakes for their tables, which slows them down. A long wait for this place to reopen and I am sorry to say I can't give more than three stars. The staff was extremely friendly. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. But sadly. The food was not as exciting. Today I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken came out well cooked and seasoned. No problem there. The waffle came out what appeared as well cooked. Until I took the bite. The inside was really undercooked. I tried a different section of the waffle and it too was undercooked. I couldn't eat it. I ate the chicken and left still hungry. But did not want a replacement meal. I tried to pay. And he manager came over and apologized. And did comp the check. I wanted to pay. 4 stars for simply having "pick 4 items" on the breakfast menu for under $7 dollars. You can't beat that. That's 2 hot cakes, 2 pieces of sausages, 2 eggs, and hash browns. You can pick whatever and it still will be under $ 7 dollars. Their milkshakes are good too. If you like milkshakes you won't be disappointed. The Brookpark location is cool. I have stopped at a few big boys on my travels and most, especially around Cincinatti, are very nice with great food. I was ushered to my booth, the seat was a bit sticky and run down. The restaurant itself was rundown and the bathroom needs an overhaul. Seeing this I decided on the salad bar. The selections were ok, but the dressings were bland. I also grabbed a cup of what I think was cheddar brocolli soup (There were no signs) The soup was also bland. So my assumption is that this Big Boy caters to older clientele who have to eat Bland food. It's not the place you want to go if you want a decent meal.
