Have been missing a good gyro in Brick since the Greek Spot near Costco closed. Stumbled upon this place which is somewhat off the beaten path being on Mantoloking Road. Solid fast Greek food well prepared and fresh. Have to get used to the fact that their gyro though coming from a spit is not prepared like others where the meat is slices and the seasonings are somewhat different. I like however that there is a choice of sauces beyond the standard Tzakia. Worth a trip to get there and try. read more

Don't listen to the summer comers who swoop in for a week and get pissed this place doesn't cater to their overly complicated soy lifestyle. It is what it is, a Gyro Shop. I didn't think the price was crazy at all, the girl behind the counter was nice and didn't "flip the screen around" after I paid to demand a tip. Seems the cost covers everything, the way it should be. The food was really flavorful and plentiful. He had never had them before and I was craving them after receiving the flyer in the mail. I've been eating gyro's for 40+ years so I'm familiar with what they should look & taste like. I was so excited when we receive our order last night, I couldn't wait to dive in. We ordered 2 pork gyro's, 1 side of fries and baklava. From the first bite, I knew it wasn't going to get any better. The tomatoes in it were not fully ripe so they were hard and partially green in the center. There were pieces of cucumber throughout. Not sure if it was pickles or just cucumber but the pickle taste was overwhelming. I love pickles but I have never had pickles in my gyro. The meat was horrendously dry. It did not resemble meat that would be cut from a rotisserie. It was chopped. Dry & tasteless. The ONLY thing that gave the meat any flavor were the pickles. If not for the pickle flavor, it would have had no taste. Everything about that gyro was nauseating. I had 3 bites and threw it out. My husband only ate 1/2 of his and threw it out. That's telling you something because my husband eats just about anything. The french fries were greasy. The baklava wasn't even that great. How can you mess up baklava? The worse part. This place is overpriced. For those 4 items it was over $50. I wish I had read the reviews before ordering. If you are reading this review before ordering and you're on the fence, trust me when I say save your money & find another place. Where to even begin.. Having heard there was a new Greek restaurant opening in town, I eagerly awaited the day Gyro Kingdom would open. Well, that day came and went, and it's been fraught with TONS of issues. Opening day, I walked in to a fairly nicely decorated restaurant (they did a decent job turning the old Sultan Wok into an inviting space). There was about 10-12 staff members milling about, but surprisingly little food on any of the tables. I found out why soon after, as I stood at the register for a solid 6 minutes to place an order, not even being acknowledged by anyone. There was one cashier who seemed like they never saw a register before, another one that was standing next to her for emotional support, I guess, and kitchen staff that looked confused / weren't doing anything. After nearly 10 mins of not even being given a "hello", I walked out, something I rarely do. Going back a few days later for a to-go order, the place was a ghost town. I ordered a lamb gyro and some avgolemono soup, and that, ladies and gentlemen is where I finally threw in the towel on this joint. When I got home, the gyro was lukewarm at best (and I don't live far at all), with the soup being nearly as tepid. To make matters worse, the food wasn't even all that great - the gyro was *TINY* (think homemade freezer gyro kit, and also you forgot to go shopping for fresh produce), and the soup had bits of bone in it, as another reviewer mentioned. Most of it got thrown out, which again is something I rarely do. This place won't last past the 1 year mark, especially when they sit less than a mile up the road from Yianni's, which is just plain better in every possible way from pricing to food to service. Hate to blast a new restaurant like this, but every single thing so far has been an outright disaster, and I'm honestly not sure they have the capabilities to fix this without an entirely new staff. *Footnote* I highly encourage people to scrutinize the online reviews for this place carefully. Across multiple sites, the owner appears to be attempting to "astroturf" by making multiple fake reviews, often completely nondescript, and from accounts that were newly created with only 1 review. Aside from being an incredibly shady business practice in general, this leaves an even worse taste in my mouth than the food did, and really says something that the owner would rather "drown out" critical reviews with falsehoods versus actually taking responsibility & addressing them. The ordering process was fun with so many options and brought us back to our visits to Greece. The food was fresh and plentiful. The gentleman was accommodating to my dairy free request resulting in the most delicious garlic sauce. If we lived closer this would be a go to for us. It's obvious from these reviews that they are review bombs. It looks like half the people reviewing this place can't speak English well and are also horrible at grammar. Additionally, most of the reviewers have only one or three reviews. This tells me that this place is being purposely targeted. Now, on to my review: This place is amazing! The food is awesome, and the owner gives you a GENEROUS amount of meat in a gyro. The meat sticks are especially delicious. You can tell that all the pita bread, along with everything else, is made fresh. No shipped-in bread. This place is in a great spot. The drinks and desserts are on the higher-priced side but are delicious. I have been here a total of 10 times, I believe, and it's just a great place to get a quick gyro or meat stick. I highly recommend this place and suggest ignoring the obvious troll reviews. Grilled octopus turned into paste as soon as you bit it. My guess is because it was from a can. Whoever owns this needs to reevaluate because if this place last 6 more months I'd be surprised. Placed a catering order for 30 people yesterday and boy did they not disappoint! The chicken & pork souvlakia (chicken, pork on a stick) was so tender. The sliders and keftedes however, were incredible! My family and friends that were at our gathering are Greek and restaurant owners; they thoroughly enjoyed it! What a disappointment. We went yesterday, ordered 2 lamb gyros and 1 pork. The meat was so dry, we left most of it. The tzatziki sauce as not to my liking - needed more yogurt and cucumber flavoring - it was an odd consistency. Also, no much on it. When I asked for more (before tasting it) I was told that there was more inside the pita (not). I think they sliced the meat, then chopped it and fried it to death on the grill. Didn't like the food. When we got the bill, it was higher than I thought. She did it on her ipad and we didn't see it. We asked for a paper copy and reluctantly received it. The gyros were listed in the menu that they gave us as $11 for pork; $12 for lamb. The receipt charged us $15 for each. When I brought it to her (waitress) attention, she told me prices went up. Then the chef (owner) came over and said prices went up and prices were subject to change. I told him I didn't see that anywhere; told him he couldn't give us a menu with prices and then jack them all up. If prices were different, they could have told us when taking the order. After telling me he would "honor the prices" on the menu, they still didn't add it up right. By the way, if you want lettuce on you gyro (usually comes with it), it's an additional charge of $1 (huh?). One bottle of Stewart's Root Beer was $6. It addition to lousy food, bad attitude, they also did some price gouging. I am with the other reviewer - I don't think they will be in business a year. We don't eat out often so when we do, we try to support local businesses. We tried Gyro Kingdom for the first and last time this week. We were the only customers in the store at 5:30 which should have been a red flag but we ordered anyway. Our vegan dip platter, salad and Greek sausage on a pita still took about 15 minutes. The salad was a bowl of lettuce with some dressing, a handful of pomegranate seeds tossed on top and way too much dill chopped in. The $25 vegan "dip" platter consisted of 3 and a half cold French fries, 1/2 a grilled onion, a tomato, aninedibly hot pepper, 2 & a half stuffed grape leaves, small pita, small salad consisting of lettuce & a few bits of onion, olives & cheese (vegan?) and a condiment container of cold baked beans. No. dressing in the salad and otherwise flavorless unless you count the residual heat from the pepper touching the other stuff, also no dips. The top photo is what's presented on the menu, the bottom is the sad reality. The Greek sausage was a prefab looking dried out sausage sitting on a pita that had been cut into quarters, no dressing on that either. Pictured below is $54 worth of food. Do not even waste your time here. I went last Saturday ordered (2) Lamb Gyros & (1) Chicken Gyro. The Lam Gyros barely had anything on them they forgot the lettuce, put the smallest amount of sauce they could on them as well. The Lamb was dry not good at all. The Chicken was super dry , put way too much lettuce on the gyro , barely any sauce the lettuce was wilted and brown. My order took about a 1/2 hour to make and the girls filling the orders looked lost and were way behind. Instead of the owner stepping in to help them he was either outside smoking or sitting at a table doing nothing. We spent $40.00 on these (3) Gyros waste of money will never go there again and would suggest that if you are considering going don't. There are way better establishments, next time I'll stick to what I know. read more
