Decided to try this place for late lunch today - and it was pretty much what we thought we were getting. A small diner-style restaurant that clearly has been around for a long time. Service was great, and you can tell the waitresses have been there a while. Decided on a couple of the specials that included salad and dessert. Food was pretty good - I had the stuffed shrimp, baked potato and carrots. Salad bar was basic but adequate for what it was. There were also 3 soups that we didn't try - but they looked good. Dessert was basic as well, but the ice cream was pretty good. I'll be back to try something else - perhaps breakfast or a burger. read more

Blue Fountain is basically a diner, and I say that as a positive. The food is good and affordable. The menu features Greek specialties and also standard fare. They were able to easily accommodate our party of 10 and the food came out fairly quickly. Everyone was satisfied, especially the kids with their burgers and fries. Nothing in particular stood out but I can say that we all went home happy. I would be happy to eat here again, although i may not mention this place when asked to choose. read more

This restaurant use to be great. The food was great. Atmosphere, people was plenty. Prices were reasonable and accommodating to seniors. Salad bar was appetizing. Seams like it has New ownership. This place has amazing food and friendly service. We like to go for breakfast but all of the food is delicious. It's a hidden gem. The older crowd seem to know about this place and it can't get busy. They are handling covid very nicely with a lot of hand sanitizer. They have it at every table and are spacing customers in every other booth. The entire staff if very friendly and all are wearing masks ! I would highly recommend giving this little place a try ! read more

Stopped off here last week for a late lunch with the Parentals- Moms and I both got the chicken pot pie- photo posted- this chicken pot pie-- is delicious!! ton of hand shredded chicken breast with a savory delicious gravy, sweet peas, tasty delicate carrots, chunky potatoes with a golden buttery flaky phyllo dough crust, comes out piping hot, ohhhh its something else alright- It was so good I dug in and was bummed when it was gone!! I highly recommend this dish. The meal comes with endless salad & soup bar, coffee and dessert for about $12.00. Pop's opted for the burger- huge!! served with fries and slaw and also the soup & salad bar, coffee and dessert- again the whole meal for about $12.00 The soup and salad bar has 3 soups - the day we went it was broccoli cheese soup, creamy and broccoli was brite and tasty not mushy, Greek chicken soup (chunks of chicken) and beef barley- the soups could each be a meal in itself. Basic salad bar, with tomatoes, Greek salad w/chunks of feta cheese and there are bowls of other veggies- they don't have 80 items its not a massive salad bar, but honestly, what they do offer is plenty and I think would appeal to most customers- I went up twice and only twice because I knew the pot pie was coming. Dessert had a few choices, rice pudding ( I had this and it was so good), tapioca, chocolate, jell-o, whatever the daily cake was and I think ice creme but don't hold me to that last one. They have a lot of choices for daily meal specials a well as a regular menu, I really can't tell you what a nifty little place this is for lunch and dinner. Good place. Cheap breakfast. Omelette was well prepared. A breakfast place,really. Nice service. There is an Aldi directly in front of it and so, you can get your groceries too. Giving them four stars bc our server was so sweet. Went there on a Sunday late afternoon. Place was not busy at all. Lots of specials to choose from. The soup was good but the salad was not good. The tomatoes and cucumbers seemed old and the lettuce was not enjoyable at all. The dressing did not even help. The best part was the rice pudding at the end of the meal. Place seemed clean. Very dated inside. Old truck sitting outside with flat tire with the name of the diner on it. Not a good sign. They should ditch the crappy rusted truck. We hadn't been here in over five years and unfortunately it has not improved. I know they are very good to the community and senior citizens. God bless them. read more

We set up a Baby Shower with Frank at the Blue Fountain Restaurant. The guests had various allergies and Frank was amazing in working with us. The staff during the shower were exceptional and the food was great! Thank you for making my daughter's shower a memorable one!! We highly recommend this restaurant! Terrible. I was warned but I did t heed the warning. I was reading good reviews about this diner. I'm not usually a diner patron But I went to the Yellow Rose DIner in Keyport that was awesome. So I told my husband let's try this one. Well I had a omelette came extremely well done. Bacon was good. My husband had a Greek salad with two inches of olive oil under the salad. This has always been our favorite restaurant, but no more. We went there for Easter dinner, both of us ordered the Prime Rib which tasted like it was boiled, not broiled. Didn't even taste like Prime Rib which is our favoriteHis sweet potato tasted awful, he couldn't even eat it. The dessert was Coconut crème cake. It was stale. You couldn't even cut it with a fork. Love this place. It's just as good as it was when I went 15 years ago. The prices are awesome for real food. Salad bar has choice of 3 thick tasty homemade soups..usually 1 cream, 1 chicken orzo, 1 beef or lentil. They cater to seniors, place is a bit dated, but portion size is big, while price is great. They provide a great option for a homemade meal for this senior community. Example: Shepherds pie special had real mashed potatoes not instant, the meat tasted like tasty meat, not salty bouillon or instant gravy, the peas and carrots were NOT canned. I had them go easy on the cheese and it was still full of flavor. For 10.95 complete with soup, salad bar, dessert, roll, soda, it was spectacular. See pic. Last week I had the ny strip special which was the best steak I have had in years, at half the price! Big portion and thick for 18.95 complete plus dessert and drink. My bf had veal francaise and the portion was huge. Only negative is we like our pasta very firm which is generally not something that most diners do, since most ppl like it softer. Had a late lunch at The Blue Fountain last week. A nice place in a strip mall near Holiday City. Seniors usually know where to get the best food at a good price - and this place was loaded with Seniors. They have a nice, fresh salad bar. Small but very fresh. The reasonably priced meal comes with soup, salad, entree and dessert. I had the Beef Goulash and it was an ample portion with moist and tender beef over egg noodles. There were three soup choices and several dessert choices. you can't go wrong at the Blue Fountain. There is something for everyone. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for breakfast today and we were both very impressed! The restaurant was very clean and all servers wore masks. Our server was friendly without being intrusive. There were individual hand sanitizer bottles on each table which was a nice touch. The breakfast food was delicious and came out very quickly. We plan on coming back for lunch and dinner soon. They always give you good portions, but selections never change and don't expect 5 star quality. My crabcake was all bread and contained NO CRAB! It was made with imitation crab legs. Great nice small salad bar with tons of options, always 3 different soups and food overall is just great. 5 of us had chicken pot pie, open faced roast beef, chicken parm, fish and a burger - wide range of food and EVERYONE was raving about their dish. Delicious home made soups. Lovely little salad bar. I go here with my grandparents who live locally. We fill up on the amazing soup and salad then pick a bit at our dinner so we can take it home! Its neither unique nor gourmet. Its just well made food and good prices. Ive had the goulash many times.....tasty and great the next day. I've had the breakfast many times too. Very good. A favorite place for dinner with all the summering/beach going family and with the kids. They cater to seniors and offer local delivery. The menu is extensive and we always bring home leftovers. The salad bar comes with 2 choices of soup and all different salads, macaroni, cole slaw, Greek and romaine with a choice of dressing. They also have great humuus. The entrees always come out hot and the servers are very friendly and give good advice. It also usually comes with dessert and coffee. They also have coupons available for the next time you dine. We ate breakfast here yesterday and it is a filthy diner and the food was horrible We order the breakfast croissant egg bacon and cheese with home fries The croissant was old hard and burnt on top potatoes we nasty and soggy the bacon did not even taste like bacon tasted like noting orange juice was like slug thick ans gross The only thing that was ok was my cup of hot tea. My boyfriend and I used to go to this diner every Sunday for breakfast, the place seem nice and food as well. Today I ordered a simple spinach and cheddar cheese omelette with slice tomato. First off, the waitress forgot my side order of bacon, then the omelette didn't have cheese, and it was tasteless, bacon was cold and the tomatoes were not good. To make mather worse, the waitress never showed up to offer a different choice. At the time of payment, I told the hostess what it went wrong, instead she seemed annoyed and aggravated and did nothing to resolve the situation. The owner came and also didn't say anything and walk away. Not a very good customer service, I will never go there again, and will not recommend anybody to go there to eat. read more

Blue Fountain restaurant is great! We recently moved to Toms River, NJ, but have known about this place for a few years. The first time we went there, I knew I would be back. We now go there often, as their food is made fresh and tastes great too. Also the unlimited salad bar is good too, as they have 3 soups daily, along with greek salad, regular salad, dressings, hummus, cucumber salad, potato salad, cole slaw, mac salad, chick peas, and a few others. It is not the largest salad bar, but it is always full and pretty good. I have ordered many different entrees and have been pleased with almost all of them. Yes, the crab cake is not real, but did you really expect real crab at that price? BTW the menu did not say lump crab, so you need to use your brain. The flounder is very fresh and good, the open turkey I did not care for (it was not real turkey) which I don't understand, since they use real turkey for other turkey entrees. My husband orders the veal francaise almost every time, although he says the lemon could be a little less. The pot roast was tender, the pork chops were also tender, there are a lot of choices that are really good. If you order off the white page items, it comes with salad bar, entree, dessert and coffee and there are even coupons available. Most dinner items are from $10.95 to $14.95 and well worth it. This place is really bad. Silverware and glasses are always dirty. Food is sub-par at best, usually bland and tasteless, and some of the items on the menu are even disgusting. Service is slow and not friendly, and sometimes quite rude. Most of the people that come to this place are seniors (usually packed with them) that come for cheap deals (early bird special) and for the salad bar which is also always pretty bad. My assumption is that due to old age they've unfortunately lost their sense of taste, which is why they keep coming back. I've only come here because my grandparents live in Toms River and there aren't many other decent options in the area. Also, one time my family and I came for a party and it is surprisingly BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine. We didn't finish it but forgot it on the way out and went back for it not even 1 minute later and it was gone and the waitress that had been serving us for the past hour said she had no clue what we were talking about when we asked what happened to the bottle of whine. The ambiance is limited, but the staff is friendly and efficient and the menu choices are varied - a break from the many Italian restaurants in the area.
