Got there after 10 minutes to see 2 workers just talking with no other customers in sight and when I said I was picking up an order, they started making it then and there. Pretty decent gyro--my only complaint was that the meat and veggies were so abundant that I couldn't possibly eat it as a sandwich. I ended up laying the pita flat and eating it like a salad. The portion was so huge I never even got to the pita bread. If you're looking for a quick gyro or falafel option, this fits the bill. Just be prepared for a messy sandwich. Wonderful, Fresh and Delicious. I am so freaking happy there is a great gyro place nearby. Generally I would have to trek down to the U District to get my fix of Aladdin's but the food here is awesome. It's this little hidden gem right next to Jimmy Johns. My love and I both got the Beef and Lamb Gyro, Greek Fries and Falafel Salad to share. The Gyro was GIGANTIC and filled with a generous portion of juicy meat, fresh veggies and tangy sauce. Quite a deal for under $8, it was the size of my face! The Falafel Salad was excellent. Super fresh and light. The falafel was very flavorful and complimented the salad very well. I could eat one of those salads everyday of my life and I would be happy. Service was just as awesome as the food. Fast, clean and friendly. We were greeted with a smile right when we walked in. I hadn't had kebab for months and missed it, so I came to Gyro Stop to try it out. I came in around 11 AM, so pretty early, and there were no other customers in the store. It was sparkling clean both in front and behind the counter. Decor, furniture, and restaurant layout were essentially the same as a Subway, but with better photos on the wall. The guys behind the counter were friendly enough, though perhaps a little humorless. So I know this place is called "Gyro Stop" and nearly every review here is for the gyros. But as mentioned, I was specifically craving kebab. I ordered the "beef kofta kabob." I've paid $13 for kebab before, so I wasn't startled to see the price, but I have pretty high expectations for any $13 dish on the menu at a place that uses plasticware. The counterman told me it would be about 8 minutes to cook, which I said was fine. I grabbed a drink and watched them cook while I waited. I was a little concerned that the kebab looked frozen when the cook put it on the grill. When the food arrived, I thought the presentation was about average. Food was served in a plastic container with small store-bought pita bread on the side cut into quarters. I was disappointed by this; pita is not hard to make in-house -- there's a food kiosk in the mall that does it. Seriously, it has like 5 ingredients plus water. Big loaves of soft, warm, freshly made pita are one of the best things in the world, but you won't get it here. Gyro Stop chooses to use the same cold, flat, store-bought pita that I serve to guests I don't really like and cut it up for you like you're a child. The kebab was one of the grosser things I've ever looked at (see my photos attached to this review), and it tasted as bad as it looked. Still cold on the inside, undercooked, slimy, and sickly gray on the outside. The herbs and spices inside seemed decent, but the meat itself was awful. The hummus was even worse than the meat. It was an overly factory-processed paste with the consistency of drywall plaster, and tasted like dry chickpeas. Salad and rice were fine, so I ate those. This dish was mostly inedible at any price, but for $13 (without taxes, tip, or drinks) it actually feels offensive. Based on the other reviews for Gyro Stop, the fact that the restaurant looked spotlessly clean, the fresh-looking ingredients behind the counter, and obviously the name on the door, I think that Gyro Stop is probably much better for actual gyros. I may come back to try the gyro. But I am disappointed that the management of this restaurant even allows a dish like the kebab to appear on their menu. read more

I've had a lot of Gyros over the years from every corner of the U.S. and this place is doing it exceptionally well. The large! pita is stuffed with a hearty helping of their spiced-goodness meat, fresh lettuce, a pile of cucumber salad, a generous dose of sauce and big sprinkle of feta cheese to finish it off. I've never been to Greece but with delicious food, a legit Greek behind the counter, music in the background and a comfortable, clean dining room - it's the whole Greek package. I love Shawarma. It's becoming one of my go-to comfort foods and these guys do a great job of making it. The service is very friendly and helpful and the food is fresh and delicious. I am very confused why this place has this many reviews. If you are looking for a spot that serves frozen ready cooked food then this is the place to go. I tried the gyro sandwich and my friend got the chicken shawarma sandwich. The chicken tasted really bad and they do not make it from scratch. Both sandwiches were soggy and we even could not finish them. On top of this the people working there were not thrilled about serving us. I mean if you want to operate in the hospitality industry, you at least have to have good customer service. Finally, we paid about $32 dollars for 2 sandwiches and fries which I think is expensive compared to the quality of food they are serving. read more

This place is so small and overlooked! It's tucked away so tight in the back corner of a main shopping plaza and the street side that passes it is a major highway so it's also easy to miss there. But it is AMAZING. I typically don't crave gyros or anything Mediterranean/Greek really but a coworker of mine took me here a couple of months ago and now I go there at least once a week for the chicken quesadilla pita, and I've suggested it to a few other people now that love it too. I always notice that it's the same couple of guys working in the shop, so I have wondered if it's family owned perhaps. It's super small but still clean inside, they have baklava (uhm yes please), and they are super quick too. Only major downside can be parking sometimes and because of the location it's kind of tight when trying to turn around/find a new spot. But it is worth it! You will not be disappointed. read more

Saw this on Yelp. Right next to Jimmy John's across from Applebee's. Two 4-top tables and four 2-top tables (one small table outside). These guys have been open for 9 months. This is a great find. My gyro had a lot of crisp vegetables, good lamb - beef, feta cheese, and nice warm pita. Nice and juicy, not dry at all. Daughter kept eating mine. Wife's Athenian Chicken salad was good. The chicken was a little thicker than I would have preferred but good none the less. The key was that it came with a garlic-mayo sauce that I spread on my gyro...fantastic. Ordered a side of hummus and pita which was also good. Could have ordered the combo with my gyro for another $3.50 (small fries and refillable drink). The foods are definitely not lacking in taste which is a BIG check in my book. I would give it a 4.5 if I could. Not a 5 because of the chicken (Zankou in So. Cal is my standard). Normally we get decent service when we come in. Lately some of their employees don't really know exactly what's in the ingredients so be careful if you're gluten and milk intolerant. For today at 1700 8/9/22 The two employees , one guy and one girl we're not very tentative and we're not prepared for the dinner rush. He was quick to give a misleading answer and dismissive when he realized the answer to my question was obviously wrong. Neither one payed attention to what they were doing with us standing right in front of them and the customer service sucked. Talking to each other and not focusing on what they were doing. The young lady needed to make falafel three times for our order because she wasn't listening and the guy was not communicating clearly about the order. Both were involved in a conversation on their own and we're not listening to what we were asking and not paying attention to our order which ended up being shorted on the meat and salad and almost the falafel's. I hope the owner realizes that it's hard to find good help and he really needs to train his employees a lot better, because there's other places to go spend my money which we will do. read more

People saying this place has the best gyros have never truly had a great one. The meat is subpar. A frozen cone of meat paste which usually contains breadcrumbs, which unfortunately so many places in America use as compared to marinating and stacking real meat on the spit. On top of that, they cannot even be bothered to slice the meat paste off fresh from the rotisserie. They pre slice it off and hold it in a hot dish. This all goes to create a gyro that is a pale reflection of what it should be. They are friendly though, and the place is clean, so I'll give 1 extra star. Food is 2 stars at best. read more

It's a small gyro shop with fresh ingredients on each orders ready to go. Their Greek fries are soooo good! Fresh crispy fries with their amazing garlic Parmesan white sauce. I wish I could buy a whole bottle and take it home with me. The lamb gyro is really good and with their house made garlic white sauce. It was the perfect size veggie ratio that's not too big for each bite to be perfect. Lamb is well seasoned and a bit charred from being on the grill. Yummy!! Their chicken is okay, seemed a bit dry but gyros from here has always been consistent. Great place for a quick stop and eat. Expect service to be a little longer than usual. Mmmm, gyros. Usually when I eat gyros, I am drunk so comparisons are unfair. This spot makes a solid gyro. The gyro plate is awesome and I usually have enough left over for another meal. The staff is always friendly and they even gave me an extra falafel for my toddler. The gyro fries are delicious too but a little too unhealthy. I thought I was ordering gyro and fries but it is gyro meat on top of fries with cheese and sauce. Kinda like poutine. My co-worker wanted to try this place out so we went there again, (I warned him that it's not all that).. we ordered lamb and beef gyro sandwiches.. as usual the meat like material that they call "gyro meat" is a mixture of beef, lamb and additives and formed into a shape of roll and cooked slowly.. problem is that there's probably 40% additives in there (it's not made there, it's pre packed and frozen and shipped to these guys) so it tastes nothing like lamb or beef.. it taste like leather shoes that have been slow cooked in lamb bone broth.. you get the picture? To make things more interesting, while the gentleman was making our food, he kept pulling his phone out of his back pocket ( with the hands that had gloves on) and checked his texts, twice, and then put the phone back in his back pocket ( with the hand he has gloves on) and continued in prepping my sandwich without removing gloves and putting a new pair on... So this will be my last and final write up about this place as I will never visit again.. I will encourage co-workers to take my words and try elsewhere... read more
