    Chicken Adana Kebab
    John F.

I could not shovel the food in fast enough! I wanted to try some Turkish food, and Gyroland came up in my search. It was a hit! I started with the hummus. The house-made pita was fresh, airy, and delicious, while the hummus was a homerun. I hope no one was watching - I was devouring! The chicken Adana was scrumptious! The chicken was fork tender and packed with flavor! The pita underneath soaked up all the goodness for a mouth-wateringly perfect bite! The baklava... oh my!!! Pistachio baklava -- I'll dream of that! If you haven't been here, go as soon as possible. It's authentic, it's delicious, and it's a great place to bring your kids -- they gave my 1 year old a free dessert! Excellent service and food means I'll be back! Now I need to figure out how to make Turkish coffee - it was amazing.

We really enjoy going to Gyroland because the food and service are always excellent. We've tried lots of delicious things. Everyone is always so warm and friendly too. We have never had a bad meal there. The hummus is so creamy and delicious. The beef pide is huge and one of my favorite things to get there. The beef is so flavorful and I loved the cheese on it. My husband loves to get the chicken shish kabob because the flavor is off the charts. We also love all the pastries that we've tried. Do yourself a favor and give them a try.

Great customer service, delicious food and a nice atmosphere. I love lamb and baklava so I'll definitely be back. I don't tend to go out for morning coffee but I'm intrigued by the coffee so I need to create a plan.

So good. We had come when they first opened and had a good meal but it just kind of fell off our radar. I was craving kebabs for some reason (not that you ever need a reason for that) and this popped up on Yelp and realized we needed to come back. So worth it. The two of us decided to share the combo kebab which includes a sampling of: adana kebab, kofte kebab, chicken adana kebab, lamb shish kebab and chicken shish kebab. Lamb was tender, everything was seasoned well, but I think we both agreed the kofte was the surprising star that night. So juicy and flavorful. A+ We had more than enough meats that we were able to take home some for lunch the next day. In addition it included a large side salad we easily could share, Turkish bread, and your choice of appetizer so we went with the hummus which was creamy and delicious. They also brought us a baba ganoush which we didn't order. Wow glad they did. I've actually never had it but it was definitely something we would order again. Kind of sweet and maybe a little smokey. Really delicious. Server was wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. And there is a good amount of seating of various sizes. Definitely will be back and highly recommend. Oh and we took home some pastries from the stocked bakery case and yes that will also be happening again. Good times.

1st stop here and enjoyed the vibe. Staff very friendly and the fire oven in the center of the counter was cool. Ordered the gyro wrap and the laymacun. Everything tasted extremely fresh and liked the presentation on the plank with fresh parsley and fresh lemon wedges. Everything was a bit low on salt which is rare for me to say as I never add salt to my food. The tzatziki was good but took a few bites to get used to as it had more of a ranch texture than a thick yogurt.

Incredible food. Get anything of their chicken. It cut like butter and melted in your mouth. Our server was so so kind and accommodating. Such a fun, local spot. Definitely worth stopping.

I was very happy that I tried this place. There are several tables you can sit at. The staff were very friendly. Not knowing what all the dishes were, are waiter more than willing to help and explain everything. Our meals came out quickly. The food was very good. Asking for a dish without something on it was no problem. I am looking forward to going back. There are several dishes I would like to try. If you are looking for gyros and authentic Turkish dishes, Gyroland and Bakery is the place to go.

As soon as we walked into the building, we were surrounded by incredible smells coming from the oven right in front of the cute dining area. The chef was preparing a fresh pide, which really swayed my order. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty, came out piping hot and was devoured within minutes. I got the pide with cheese, my boyfriend got the combo kebab. Service was incredible, checking in every now and then to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend, we will be back soon!

Amazing service, personal opinion on few items since I been eating Turkish food all my life, sauted eggplant top notch, hummus needs a little work. Pides Lahmacuns oven side is all amazing. Delicious food and super kind hospitality!

We stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening around 5. This is a family run business and you can tell they put their love into everything. The hospitality was wonderful. Our waiter was happy to answer any questions and he even brought a couple things by our table to show us what the dishes looked like. The space was open with room for about 10-15 tables roughly. There are also two seater tables right outside the restaurant. The chairs inside are really comfortable! We ordered hummus that came with pita, which we devoured (they brought more pita for us). I got the lamb shish wrap, and hubby got the lamb kebab plate. They also brought us a complimentary salad which was very fresh and yummy. Our main entrees were very filling and full of flavors! The cucumber mint sauce was refreshing. We also got desserts to go. They threw in a couple complimentary house made breads with our desserts as well - very sweet and a great way to get your customers to come back and try out the other goodies! The dessert and pastry selection is not lacking! You can see all the goodies through the window before even stepping foot in the store! There is a lot to choose from, so feel free to ask questions, and they are happy to answer. Great experience at Gyroland! The only somewhat weird thing is that it doesn't appear they have fountain drinks, but not a deal breaker for me. I got a water and it came in a bottle (they brought a glass). Not a big deal, I'll just bring my big water cup next time. Definitely check out and support this new business!

I dined here with my parents and daughter with 7pm reservations on a Saturday. They have raved about this place for weeks after dining twice there, so I was eager to try it for myself. My dad highly recommended the lamb chop kebabs, which were perfectly tender and seasoned amazingly well. The pide with pepperoni was incredibly cheesy and rich. House salad and pita with marinara were also tasty. Service was slow. She seemed new. Very friendly but forgetful. I'd love to try more samplings from here.

I stopped by here a couple of Fridays ago with my wife for dinner. We had unexpectedly found ourselves childless for the evening and so scrambled to Yelp for a somewhat close place to us. After some looking around, we ultimately chose to visit Gyroland and Bakery. This restaurant is located on Babcock Blvd not too far from where Thompson Run Rd ends into it. Whenever we arrived on this early Friday evening there were only a couple of other people in the restaurant and the numbers stayed low even though there was a steady stream. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but due to the heat we chose indoor. Besides the tables they also had a giant display case with some of the bakery items in it for all to see. For dinner on this evening my wife and I started out by sharing the babaganush and then I went with the iskender kebab while my wife went with the combo kabab. My entree was described as Lamb gyro topped with medium - hot tomato sauce and yogurt over pieces of traditional turkish bread while my wife's was described as Grilled combination of adana kebab kofte kebab, chicken adana kebab, lamb shish kebab and chicken shish kebab. The babaganush here was good with a nice smokey flavor to it but what my wife and I really appreciated was the bread which was like your normal pita, only thicker. They worked together nicely and our server did bring us more whenever our entrees came out. Then for our entrees, well both mine and my wife's were delicious. She let me try all of the four meats she received and each was juicy and flavorful. My iskender kebab ended up having a great flavor from the sauce. While I wouldn't call it spicy, I did really enjoy it. Then my meat was also tender and the biggest surprise of all for me was that as described, it was all over the Turkish bread. That bread was cut up tiny and almost played the role of what noodles would in an Italian dish. I throughly enjoyed it but it was also a super heavy dish and I left taking half of it home. With all of our food being fantastic, it was really the service that dropped this from a 5 star to a 4 star review. With a mostly empty restaurant you would think that service would be great but I did sit for most of my dinner with an empty glass of water and only got a new one when I asked when getting the bill. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While the food may seem a bit pricey at first glance, you definitely get a lot and it's flavorful too!

The staff were very friendly, and all of our food was well packaged. I strongly suggest taking a look at the "Persian Cuisine" section of the menu; in many cases, that section is more interesting than the Turkish grill. In terms of food, things ranged from excellent to pretty good. The hummus was good and nicely textured, but not exceptional. The kashke ve bademjan was excellent, particularly when paired with the nicely toasted flatbread it arrived with. The Mediterranean salad and Tabouli salad were both nicely done, with a nice level of lemon acidity and some shredded cheese on the side. The veggie kebap was fine, but generally flat in flavor: it really needed some of the sides and some hot sauce to fill things out. The red lentil soup was simple with a subtle spicing but ultimately deeply flavorful. The ash reshteh (noodle soup with beans and spinach) was generally good but would have benefited from toppings that would have probably been provided in a dine-in environment. All told, this was a nice little establishment with some excellent Mediterranean and Persian style cuisine. They seem to churn out some high quality food from what seems like a very small kitchen. I could imagine eating in or ordering takeout, but note that the interior space is fairly small with a limited capacity.

Well, the original plan was Tacayo and it was closed, but we strolled past it into this establishment with me not even knowing that we were in a totally different restaurant. I looked at the menu, this doesn't look like taco's at all, what is happening here? We called Tacayo to make sure in case they were open and we could still eat there. Nope, they were certainly closed. You know what? I took it in stride and said, "what the heck, I like mediterranean food." We were waited on and placed our orders, things seemed to be moving along nicely. The only problem being we had both ordered the falafel platter and my date calmly tells me that in the past she thinks she had an allergic reaction after she ate chick peas. Hummus was the fave; I've definitely had more flavorful baba. We opted to toast all the mounds of huge pita that came with the meal, though. We're not fans of cold, "raw" pita with dips. Entrees: I got the Genie's combo plate - a couple of interestingly spiced , though somewhat dry chicken thighs (spice called "mishwi" - seemed almost like a Berbere-type seasoning w/ cinnamon in the profile) on a bed of basmati & a helping of tasty, crunchy pickled turnips & Lebanese salata (like Mediterranean pico de gallo). The best part about this place is the cocktails but don't expect them to be strong. My drink was absolutely delicious but with the mood effects of a mocktail, meaning nothing. I ordered two because why is this almost $20 with no buzz in sight, are we not a lounge? The menu was plentiful though I think the chef may be a little off about the origins of some of the menu items- just be Greek, friend, it'll be okay. I didn't try the pizza, which is almost half of the menu because I wasn't impressed by the small plates. How can you get pickled cauliflower wrong in Pittsburgh. That should be a sin. The hummus was okay but could use a little more ancient influence... like maybe 4,000 years worth, idk. Overall, I wouldn't be back and wouldn't recommend. It's trendy in it's ambience but doesn't deliver anything better than 25 other spots along the same street. AVVA in Aspinwall is a better option. I came here based on reviews by Elite's and this place was incredibly misrepresented.

Very nice Mediterranean restaurant. I visited this place on the day before Mother's Day, and it was…read moresurprisingly not super packed. It's got a nice location on the central road in Squirrel Hill, but it's a bit hard to find parking. When I got there, I got to try their shish tawouk (chicken kabob), mujadara, salad with feta, and iced mint tea. The tea was pretty alright. Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair. They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. It is also very clearly a family endeavor, with the mom managing most of the tables and the kids always helping out. Very nice place!
