As I travel around the country for work I love finding little gems hidden in assuming areas. Shout's Cafe is indeed one of those places. It is a small establishment located on a busy street but they do offer ample parking. These place gets 5 stars because the food and the service are equally amazing. My server Sydney was most gregarious and very helpful suggesting the right choice for my lunch. The Mousaka was delicious!! Although I didn't have room at the time I brought some of their homemade desserts for later. Don't miss out . We stopped at this small and quaint place for lunch. We shared a few Lebanese specialties - red pepper hummus, fattoush salad, and baked bibbee. Our waitress was attentive and helpful and brought our food out relatively quickly. We enjoyed all three immensely. The fresh fattoush salad had a delightful sumac dressing and crunchy pita pieces. So happy Shouf's reopened! A friend took me to lunch there recently. It was pretty busy for lunch. My friend had a gigantic salad, and I had the lentil soup and the tabouli. What a wonderful surprise. Our first visit to Shouf's cafe was a big hit. The first impression was how clean everything was. From the parking lot to the dining room. Everything just shines. So many good and authentic Lebanese dishes which I don't even order. I want for the lamb dinner and it was super. My wife had the gyro platter. Best gyro meat ever. Can't wait to try the gyro sandwich. Portions are big. Had enough for lunch the next day. Prices are excellent for the fresh quality and amount of food. Jody our server was excellent. Nice overall casual family place. Some might consider the lack of a bar or wine list a negative. However, I understand you can BYO with corkage fee. Shouf's has always been a go-to option for my family. This was my first dine-in experience and I felt right at home. Parking was easy and didn't have to wait at all for a 5pm table on a Saturday, but it certainly got busy shortly thereafter, and I can understand why - I don't remember our waitress's name, but she made it seem like we were family! I ordered the moussaka - I've never had it before anywhere else, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it was very rich, filling, and flavorful. Outstanding and authentic food. Love the Lebanese salad. All of their sauces (Tahini, house red sauce, etc.) are distinctive and delicious. The only thing I can figure is that none of the previous reviewers have actually had good Lebanese food, or possibly good food in general. This was the worst meal I have ever had. I got the baked kibbee, and it was like a square of cardboard-enhanced canned dogfood that had been sitting under a heat lamp drying out for a few days. Barely any spices or herbs to give it even a modicum of flavor. It desperately needed some sort of acidic component, aromatics, and salt. The rice pilaf was overcooked, and they must have used medium rather than long grain rice, so it was like little squishy maggots instead of nutty, fluffy goodness. There was half of a warmed tomato... Not even any char marks. :( The side salad was iceberg lettuce, a sad pale tomato wedge, and a single kalamata olive, topped with unidentifiable finely shredded white cheese. I got the Lebanese dressing, which was the highlight of the meal despite being pretty much just lemon juice and oil that may have possibly passed by a room that once held garlic in it. Someone else at my table got the gyros, and it came in thick rectangular chunks, like they baked it in a pan and cut it instead of roasting it on a spit and thinly slicing it. At least the flavor was sort of ok. It was also atrociously expensive--and this is using LA standards, so that's saying something. The waitress was very nice, however, and provided good service. She kept asking if we wanted boxes to take home the rest of our meals (which I absolutely do at every other restaurant), but there was no way I was putting myself through that meal again. (BREAKFAST REVIEW) Basic, and I mean very basic menu. I would give two stars, but have been here for dinner and was impressed in the past. The breakfast I chose could have easily been from anywhere else, to be honest I was kind of disappointed Shouf's didn't have a more diverse menu. Diner food more or less. Pancakes were pretty dried out, and hardly had any chocolate chips in them. Also, is there alcohol here for brunch? Shoufs is hit or miss for me. Being Syrian, I have gone here for comfort food to remind me of my grandma. Sometimes I'm extremely impressed and sometimes I'm left wanting more. Customer service is great, and the times I've been able to get raw kibee have been great as well. read more

What a cute place! I was able to bring my pup and sit outside on a beautiful morning. They brought out a little dish of water for him too. Had the patio all to myself but there were lots of customers coming in and out. I got the Hushwee and Eggs- delicious! I was hoping for more fun coffee options.... but first world problems, amiright? I got some baba ghanoush with a hefty side of fresh pita. Had a quick taste before leaving- it's nice and smooth and so yummy! The waitress was really sweet, the flowers were beautiful, and the food was on point. Not much more you can ask for!
