Solid take-out meal from this place last night. We opted to pick it up so it was far hotter/fresher than using a delivery service. Our fave foodie neighbor recommended this over highly-rated Med Table (still haven't tried that place yet, so our verdict is out!). Overall, our meal was really good (not great). Appetizers: hummus & baba gannouj were tasty. We opted for their "regular" size which has given us plenty of leftovers! (Other options: small & large). Hummus was the fave; I've definitely had more flavorful baba. We opted to toast all the mounds of huge pita that came with the meal, though. We're not fans of cold, "raw" pita with dips. Entrees: I got the Genie's combo plate - a couple of interestingly spiced , though somewhat dry chicken thighs (spice called "mishwi" - seemed almost like a Berbere-type seasoning w/ cinnamon in the profile) on a bed of basmati & a helping of tasty, crunchy pickled turnips & Lebanese salata (like Mediterranean pico de gallo). The standout item on this place - far and away - was the roasted, spiced cauliflower. I would have that ALONE - no chicken. I liked the dish, overall, but it didn't knock my socks off. I would look for solo-cauliflower next time. Hubs got the Shish Tawook rolled pita - he really enjoyed the grilled chicken with pickled turnip and excellent homemade garlic sauce. He said he'd def reorder. Top tip - get that garlic sauce (if u like garlic). It's AMAZING. No dessert for us, though what an impressive list they have! We ordered a few dishes from their catering menu at the last minute. We got a hummus with beef platter, a Greek salad and baba ganoush. It was all served with alot of pita, the thinner flat lavish type pita. The beef had an odd purple hue, but tasted great. The baba ganoush was very smokey and quite delish. The salad was also a hit with the dressing set on the side so everyone could add their desired amounts. Loved the food and appreciated they were able to accommodate our last minute order. read more

This was my first time at Aladdin Eatery and I was honestly impressed. It is a Lebanese spot and the food was so good. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and comforting. I ordered a platter with grilled meat, rice, hummus, salad, and cauliflower and it all worked perfectly together. The hummus was super smooth and creamy and paired so well with the warm pita. The grilled meat had great flavor, the rice was light, and the cauliflower was crispy and delicious. The salad added a nice fresh balance to the plate. The service was also really good. My waiter was super sweet and kind and made the experience even better. I always visit Alladin's Eatery when I come to Pittsburgh. They have the best Middle Eastern dishes, including salads and combo plates. I usually ordered Genie's Combo Plate when it was marked NEW. It included chicken mishwi on a bed of basmati rice, lebanese salata, hummus, lightly fried cauliflower florets drizzled with tahini lemon dressing, and pickled turnip. My friend ordered this, because it always looked so good when I ordered it. There are so many flavors that blend together for a delicious meal. I decided to try something new this time. It was marked NEW: Sally's Favorite Bowl, including basmati rice, lightly fried, and seasoned cauliflower florets, beef kafta, warmed tahini lemon dressing, toasted pine nuts, and parsley. It was only 11.95. The roasted cauliflower was ample and to die for! The beef kafta was a little dry but still tasty. The toasted pine nuts and parsley punctuated the basmati rice nicely. I think Genie's Combo Plate is still my favorite, but I enjoyed trying Sally's Favorite Bowl for a change. Grace, the server, was very nice. The dolma here (stuffed grape leaves) were as good as my grandmother's!! I can't resist even mediocre dolma so I was over the moon with these. Ordered a falafel wrap with hummus & finished with baklava & the meal was just delicious. Very impressed with the friendly & helpful service. One of our party completely changed her order after it had been submitted (at least 7 minutes) and the rest of us were trying to tell her not to do this, but the waitress could not have been more gracious, and her food was not very delayed at all, considering. I would come back here in a heartbeat, and next time, I am placing my own order of dolmas-- and definitely pushing the boat out with my entree, since I know they are so good. The more we order from Aladdin's, the more there is to like. The hummus and pitas are delicious, but I think my new (to me) favorite menu offering is the Lebanese salad. I tried ordering it without green peppers for takeout because I'm allergic to them, which they were not able to accommodate because several of the toppings (tomato, peppers, a few other things) are pre-mixed and then scooped into whichever salads call for them. However they packed the veggies separately for me + left a note explaining the situation, and I was able to pick the green peppers out myself before adding the veggie mix to the rest of my salad. NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY!! I used to love this place, before I was diagnosed with Celiac's disease. They are one of the few restaurants in Pgh with gluten-free items on the menu. When I order, I ask them not to put pita bread in the bag because I can't have gluten. Still, I get pita in the bag, every time. This time, I ordered (Uber eats) the flourless choco cake. It comes with marker on the plastic container saying "Not gluten free" (barely legible) with a smiley face. You try smiling when you have brain fog and depression for the next month because you ate gluten without first understanding the writing. NOT COOL!!!! read more

We frequent Aladdin's Eatery in Squirrel Hill every 1-2 months, and it's always delicious and such great value! Our go-to dishes are the Chicken Pitza and Genie's Combo Plate, alongside the Baba Ghanoush, which we love using as an extra dip for the combo plate - a little hack! The honey mustard dijon on the pitza is so one-of-a-kind delish all around, and the variety in the Genie's Combo Plate keeps our taste buds entertained. On our last visit, we tried the Chicken Sambusek, and it was pretty good and the curry sauce in it as a nice touch. The servers at Aladdin's are always pleasant, making it a very inviting atmosphere. They do have a very large menu, many healthy options, along with vegan and gluten free items, so everyone will find something to enjoy. The Squirrel Hill location is very central on Forbes Ave. I've been there a few times and it's not usually too crowded. I mentioned the menu is healthy and the salads reflect that. My father in law got a very large entree salad that was loaded with greens, chicken, pine nuts, cranberries, feta, and more. I also mentioned that the food is solid but unspectacular and the baba ganoush and pita reflects that. The baba was a bit bland and the pita was clearly from a plastic bag/grocery store style, served at room temp. They offer many combo platters with a mix of meats. My mother in law got the beef kibbie which was spiced/savory/breaded beef pieces with a nice bed of salad greens. I got one of the mixed combos which came with two types of beef (ground and steak), chicken, lots of rice, and a bed of greens. These platters are good options if you are hungry. I have been meaning to try this place for a while and I'm excited that I finally got the chance to! I saw the table next to me order these HUGE salads and I had to have one. It was sweet and crisp with good flavor balance. The salad was ginormous and they had so many to choose from. An old stalwart of a Pittsburgh gone by, the food is reliable and pretty good. Not mind-blowing (and not Pitaland), but solid, despite being something of a chain/franchise. It's not the most special restaurant on the block, but it is absolutely solid food for what it is. Cold appetizers: the grape leaves are unusually good in that they're not too briney. Baba ganoush is ok. Lentil soup and chili are both what they should be, and being able to get a mix is nice. Spinach fatayer was not really a "proper" fatayer, in that they rebake a pita rather than making fresh dough from scratch, but the spinach filling was richly flavorful enough, and soaked well enough into the pita, that it almost worked out. read more

What can I say - but delicious!! We stopped post Phipps spring flower show. We were hungry but didn't want to deal with Oakland parking. We remembered eating our graduate school favorite meals that included a big bowl of hummus and pita. So we went to the Aladdin's eatery in squirrel hill. Parking was easy- pulled right up to door. We were met by a charming hostess and seated. Nice half booth with big picture window to people watch. We ordered some appetizers with varying sizes- love that! Hummus regular size, small falafel, and regular tabouli. We split a large dinner entree of beef shawarma. Okay hummus was smooth and creamy, falafel was crunchy and delicious ( order more next time) and the tabouli was a nice flavor with bright notes of lemon and fresh parsley. My non veggie eating friend put it on her shawarma and pita. The shawarma was new to me- it was on a bed of amazing warm nicely sliced jamsime rice with lentils and extras. The beef was real strips of beef that were lightly sautéed and tender. How? I have no idea. Go there now- it was off the chart. Only minor negative is that the pita was cold and lifeless. One of my favorite healthy places to order lunch from! Favorite items: - Falafel: delicious, well-seasoned and one of my go-to vegetarian dishes. Trust me when I say it's good, I've lived in the Middle East before and have had plenty of falafel in my life. - Baba ghanoush: it tastes homemade but I mean in the best possible way. It's healthy so less-to-no guilt when enjoying it. - Garlic sauce: it's rare that I mention a sauce as one of the more delicious items on the menu but seriously this condiment makes everything taste even better. - Hot sauce: there's a reason there's a small extra fee for this sauce on their menu (the take out menu at least).
