    Gyros-n-villians food truck
    Jeremiah U.

Gyros N Villains is a food truck that's serving greek street food. The chicken and beef are very tender. The sauce compliments the meats taste and doesn't overpower. The drinks have a perfect amount of sweetness to clear your palate. They've created a new but smaller menu compared to what they had before. The food has flavor, good quality, with happy and friendly service. Payment Cash or credit card Parking Street park Restrooms At nearest facility

Pros: The portions are good, the veggies are fresh, they are thoughtful in their packaging, and the location is easy to get to. Cons: The area is a bit sketch because it's in a liquor store parking lot, the wait is long, and the prices are a bit high. Oh, and I feel like they are open at random times. I might be wrong on that part, though. Overall, it was good. Would I go back? Probably. Would I eat there? No. I would rather eat in a relaxed area and not have homeless, cars, and beer runs disrupting my meal. It definitely has its own flavour, so if you like gyros, I do suggest trying it. It hits the spot, and you don't have to drive to Kahala or Hawaii Kai.

Takeout Lunch from a Food Truck in Honolulu, Hawaii... I used to see the "Gyros N Villains" food truck on Kapiolani Boulevard, across from the Convention Center. My initial reaction to it was: That's a clever name! However, I wasn't able to figure out when they were there and where to park. Recently, I saw this food truck in front of Young's Wine & Spirits on the corner of Piikoi Street and Kinau Street. I drove over on Sunday, after church, but they weren't open - it's closed every Sunday. I wrote it on my calendar for the next day so that I wouldn't forget to go. I also looked up their Instagram information... HOURS OF OPERATION: M and Tu from 11am to 2:15pm W, Th, and F from 11am to 8:30pm Sat from 5:45 - 8:30pm It was really worth making a special trip to Gyros N Villains - even though it's "just a food truck" - because of the quality, quantity, and service! I wish I had gotten the name of the gal working in the truck. She was very efficient, organized, and communicated well. She knew that it wasn't easy to find the credit card reader and told me where it was when I was about to ask. She asked me which car was mine so that I could wait in it while she made my meal. (Everything is made fresh - I could hear her chopping the lettuce.) She brought my package to my car! I got three items: 1. Gyros Salad - the fried pita "croutons" were unique and outstanding! 2. Classic Gyro - soft pita, STUFFED with goodness! 3. The "Gyrodilla" Quesadilla - delicious and cheesy, with a slight crisp on the outer tortilla! I told the gal that my friends knew of this food truck when it was in Kaka'ako. She said that this Kinau Street location is the permanent home and that they are in the process of creating a second truck which will be in the Kaka'ako area. As an aside - she said that they weren't in operation for a bit because someone stole their generators. That's terrible! Robbing a small business is shameful! This makes me want to support hard working businesses even more! Praying hard for the continued success of Gyros N Villains!

Hidden gem! I Recommend! Food truck is off of Piikoi and Kinau, next to the Safeway on Beretania Street. Parked in the parking lot of a small local convenient/liquor store. This place is delicious and very affordable. The staff taking and making my order was really nice. I waited at the shade and the staff member walked my food to me when it was done. I ordered the Classic Gyros. The meat was seasoned well. Loved the crispy edges on the meat. The pita was packed with meat and veggies. Worth the $12! Everything on the menu is well priced!

Good food and portions. Straight up charges what's on the menu. None of that additional credit card fee that a lot of businesses are doing these days. I appreciate that straight up pricing. Keep it up.

Pretty Gooood! Pita is nice and soft. Definitely flavorful and a great portion size. Got the food to go so I can't speak on the service but the gyros are delicious.

Today is was fighting with what I wanted to have as it rained in the morning so I thought soupy...called into work hmmm no lighter. Well I had a appointment beforehand and what was right before my eyes...!!! Done! Gyros N Villains now how can you not, sadly my work schedule overlaps many food trucks so I don't get much chances to frequent them so when I find them I immediately gravitate towards them. The "Zeus" Deluxe Gyro was it for me since it was like the heavens that had called me to this it's basically your classic gyro with double the meat (yeah!) Filled with seasoned beef and lamb strips, lettuce, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, smeared with hummus and topped with that amazing tzatziki sauce oh my gosh it was huge but all the right balance and super yummy filling without giving you the coma I had it right before work and kept be going all night long. I asked where they're usually at and apparently at Mother Waldron Park but plan to be at Cooke Street much more. Follow them on Instagram @gyrosnvillains though they don't provide much information here but hopefully mores in the future. Fresh is all I can say from the meat to the sauce it's all fresh and yummy and can't wait to find them again and know that they're in the area I love that, must try they also have wrap, quesadilla, salads and sides like pita chips and hummus, fries, tots and even Joey bag-a-donuts (12 pcs mini malasadas) Thank you!

I'm so glad I finally got to try Gyros N Villains! I love gyros and these are delicious! I saw the food truck on Cooke Street and ordered a classic gyro. It was so good I only took a picture after we both started eating. The meat is delicious and the sauce is so good. I would definitely come here again. I just wished they were open longer. But they are a lunch food truck so I understand. I would love to try their salad or some of their other options. But the classic certainly satisfied my gyro craving.

New spot in the neighborhood! T, TH on Cooke st by the Kaiser building and M, W at mother Waldron park for lunch. lots of options for gyros! I didn't know what to choose, I thought it was cool they have some chicken dishes along with the lamb. I ended up grabbing the philly style, with tater tots. I came by at 11:40 with maybe 3 or 4 ppl ahead of me and waited 10min, it went by real quick. The gyro is huge!! Super filling, I think i'd rather have the original than the philly style, I ended up missing the sauce. The meat was very flavorful and the veggies were fresh and crispy. The tater tots were super fresh and pipping hot, so hot that they melted the top of the ketchup takeout cover! They gave a good amount of tater tots and enough ketchup too. Now that they're so close and in the neighborhood I'm looking forward to trying more things in the menu!

I see this food truck everyday on my way in to work, wife and I love Greek food. So today was the day we stopped by to try it out! It didn't disappoint either. Wife did the Zeus and I did the Zeus as a salad and got an order of Tots! The menu says lemonade but because they are in the same parking lot as young's wine and spirits they have agreement to only sell water!

Went on a thursday around 1:30 and there was no line. We ordered the Classic Gyro and the donuts. Portion sizes here are perfect and the flavors are so good. The beef and lamb is so flavorful and moist. The donuts were warm, crunchy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. The girl at the window was also really nice and friendly. Definitely will be back!

Driving home-I noticed this well lit food truck..my son says-do u want me to turn around? I said YES! I'm so glad I made him turn around . I ordered the combo special-a huge gyro, tater tots, a yummy brownie and an iced tea. It was fabulous!! He made sure to let me know that he'll be there Monday, W, F from 6:30-8:30 (this was at Makiki District Park. I'll definitely be going back..

You know the saying 'never judge a book by its cover'? It definitely holds true for this place. Located across the street from the Convention Center and next door to Micronesia Mart...it's a place that I've passed by many a time, but never gave it a second glance. Yes, the area is a bit sketchy, but don't let that hold you back from giving them a try. So glad I follow some amazing foodies on IG that post their daily meals around the island, which gives me ideas on where to go next. It was the pita chips that made me so curious about this place. My friend and I shared the Classic Gyro and the pita chips. Both were AMAZING! The Classic Gyro had beef and lamb strips, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with Tzatziki sauce that's wrapped in a pita. Delicious! The pita chips aren't your average pita chips. They're crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It also comes with their house made red hummus, which is a wonderful complement to the pita chips. Even when I was so full from the food, I still wanted more of those pita chips. Even when I got home I was still thinking about it...lol! There is a little bit of a wait because he makes it fresh, but we were his first customers as soon as he opened so it wasn't too bad. You can park next to Micronesia Mart, but if you go early like we did then you can park in front of Rock ZA. Owner is a single dad with a child that he makes a top priority (love that!), so daytime hours are not always consistent, but nighttime hours are pretty consistent (Tues - Sat 6 - 10 pm;6-2/3 am weekends). I suggest just messaging him on IG ahead of time to find out if he will be open. He's very responsive. Heard they are in the works of getting another truck. Not sure when or where, but am excited for what's in store!

He described everything with such care that it was hard not to order everything! I'd highly recommend a reservation as there was not an empty table the entire two hours we were there. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but our table had great conversations and a overall lovely time. Appetizer: We ordered the konpachi hush puppies (apologies, they had a nicer name but this is how they were described to us) and they were delicious! I'm not a lover of fish, but these were so flavorful and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks: I had the meringue di cedri to drink and it was akin to a lemon drop (10/10) it was sippable and lasted my whole meal. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The cheesecake had a sour tang to it and the chocolate mousse partner with it to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet. We loved it and I know in a few days we'll be craving this meal all over again!

France meets Italy - meets Hawaii. I'm still dreaming of this. The burger features a thick, juicy, 8-ounce grass-fed patty made from a custom house-selected blend of short rib, chuck roast, and brisket. Get it with the crispy potatoes. You will thank me. Risotto on point. Luxuriously rich, creamy texture. The rice retains a slight al dente bite in the center, giving it structure rather than letting it become mushy. Prosciutto adds a perfect salty, savory crunch to break up the rich risotto. The only misstep was the fries served with the quinoa burger. They were chalky, served at room temperature, limp, and underseasoned. Excellent friendly informal service. Park at the municipal parking on Bethel St just 1/2 block away. Happy Eating!!

She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. The smoked octopus was sliced in pieces that were too thick and a little too chewy and the andouille sausage and black pepper overpowered the dish. Ordered the bourbon and bone marrow mostly for the presentation. It was WAAAY too rich and needed more bread to go with it. They should've served it with bread that wasn't buttered because the buttered bread even though tasty by itself was just too rich in combination with all of that bone marrow. The dish needed more balance. The ice cream sundae was unremarkable. Would have preferred it served with a choice of hot fudge or the caramel drizzle and since it was plain vanilla ice cream they could've drizzled a lot more caramel over it. The waitress did bring us more nuts when we asked, but they were busy at the time and she was the only server so it took her a while to get to us, and the ice cream was pretty melted by the time she delivered. We got there when they opened at 5 PM and they had two servers at that time. The place wasn't busy so it seemed like they had enough help for the amount of tables that were being seated. An hour and a half later, though, one server was missing (possibly taking a lunch break) and the only server remaining at several big parties to take care of which slowed down her responsiveness to the other smaller tables like ours. The music playing in the background seemed to fit the environment and was pleasant to listen to. It's a pretty casual atmosphere. The prices for what you get are a bit on the high end. Probably wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. We didn't feel too bad this time because we had a gift certificate which covered most of our bill. Maybe we were choosing all the wrong items and should have just stuck to ordering meat dishes, which they might be better at making (with a name like Livestock). You'll have to check this place out yourself and see if they do a better job with meat and if the prices for those dishes are more reasonable. I gave this place four stars instead of three because the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was mostly okay (tasty enough and filling).

I'd never been to their other locations, so this was my first experience -- and honestly, it left an impression. That spot in Kapolei has seen a few restaurants come and go over the years. Before Scratch Kitchen, there was Sugar Cane, and if I reach far enough back, I'm pretty sure a Mexican restaurant lived there too. It's one of those spaces where you hope the next place finally sticks. But the food at Scratch Kitchen? Absolutely delicious. The kind of meal where the pictures alone make your mouth water. If "smell‑a‑vision" or "lick‑your‑screen" technology existed, everyone would understand exactly what I mean. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully done, and perfect for a Mother's Day treat. Which is why I can't help but wonder what happened -- like so many restaurants before them in that same location. With food that good, you'd hope they'd be the ones to break the cycle. All in all, I'm grateful I got to enjoy that meal with my daughter. It was memorable, delicious, and one of those small moments you hold onto. Marie

Either way, it made for a super relaxed experience with no wait and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the food. Loved: The street tacos with the tempura shrimp were easily the star of the meal. 100% worth it. Light, crispy shrimp with a flavorful slaw and just the right amount of heat--basically a flavor party in every bite. The burger was another quiet star. Juicy patties, nicely seasoned, and stacked just right. Nothing super flashy, but really satisfying. Definitely a good pick if you're not in the mood for brunchy stuff. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.

The pastries were just okay; we tried a few cake slices that were fine but unremarkable. The cinnamon roll was dry and hard, the malasadas were forgettable, and the haupia-filled malasada was surprisingly tart. It's possible some ingredients were locally sourced and just unfamiliar to our mainland palates, or maybe we simply caught them on an off day. The servers were curt but friendly, likely because the place was packed with tourists.

It was so sad this business is closing down by Oct 31st. With rising food costs, inflation and…read morestaffing, it's understandable but I wish best endeavors for Chef Jason Peel and his staff. My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

We had leftovers for breakfast the next day! - For appetizers we got: Ulu Tots, Japanese Eggplant, and Corn Beignets. The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.
