I was on my way to an appointment and noticed this food truck parked. I am biased when it come to gyros as my buddy Joe in my opinion, made the best. So, I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the Gyro Supreme, a regular gyro and the gyro chips and Hamas. The ambiance initially looked like nothing, but I was quickly transported back to the original days of when food trucks first started out and was very happy to stand roadside and give my order!! The food was served quickly, hot and the gyro bread, was fresh!! I highly recommend "Gyros N Villans", it definitely was a delightful surprise!!! We've been to this food truck several times, but have never Yelped! Just ordered some Classic Gyro and Zeus Size Gyro and a Keiko Meal (Quesadilla, Tots + Lemonade) - delicious! Gyros & Villains had their food truck in front of the Honolulu Art Museum on Beretania St. on Sunday- great spot for a Sunday take out meal. Pros: The portions are good, the veggies are fresh, they are thoughtful in their packaging, and the location is easy to get to. Cons: The area is a bit sketch because it's in a liquor store parking lot, the wait is long, and the prices are a bit high. Oh, and I feel like they are open at random times. I might be wrong on that part, though. Overall, it was good. Would I go back? Probably. Would I eat there? No. I would rather eat in a relaxed area and not have homeless, cars, and beer runs disrupting my meal. It definitely has its own flavour, so if you like gyros, I do suggest trying it. Takeout Lunch from a Food Truck in Honolulu, Hawaii... I used to see the "Gyros N Villains" food truck on Kapiolani Boulevard, across from the Convention Center. My initial reaction to it was: That's a clever name! However, I wasn't able to figure out when they were there and where to park. Recently, I saw this food truck in front of Young's Wine & Spirits on the corner of Piikoi Street and Kinau Street. I drove over on Sunday, after church, but they weren't open - it's closed every Sunday. I wrote it on my calendar for the next day so that I wouldn't forget to go. I also looked up their Instagram information... HOURS OF OPERATION: M and Tu from 11am to 2:15pm W, Th, and F from 11am to 8:30pm Sat from 5:45 - 8:30pm It was really worth making a special trip to Gyros N Villains - even though it's "just a food truck" - because of the quality, quantity, and service! I wish I had gotten the name of the gal working in the truck. She was very efficient, organized, and communicated well. She knew that it wasn't easy to find the credit card reader and told me where it was when I was about to ask. She asked me which car was mine so that I could wait in it while she made my meal. (Everything is made fresh - I could hear her chopping the lettuce.) She brought my package to my car! I got three items: 1. Gyros Salad - the fried pita "croutons" were unique and outstanding! 2. Classic Gyro - soft pita, STUFFED with goodness! 3. The "Gyrodilla" Quesadilla - delicious and cheesy, with a slight crisp on the outer tortilla! I told the gal that my friends knew of this food truck when it was in Kaka'ako. She said that this Kinau Street location is the permanent home and that they are in the process of creating a second truck which will be in the Kaka'ako area. As an aside - she said that they weren't in operation for a bit because someone stole their generators. That's terrible! Robbing a small business is shameful! Hidden gem! I Recommend! Food truck is off of Piikoi and Kinau, next to the Safeway on Beretania Street. Parked in the parking lot of a small local convenient/liquor store. This place is delicious and very affordable. The staff taking and making my order was really nice. I waited at the shade and the staff member walked my food to me when it was done. I ordered the Classic Gyros. The meat was seasoned well. Loved the crispy edges on the meat. The pita was packed with meat and veggies. Worth the $12! Today is was fighting with what I wanted to have as it rained in the morning so I thought soupy...called into work hmmm no lighter. Well I had a appointment beforehand and what was right before my eyes...!!! Done! Gyros N Villains now how can you not, sadly my work schedule overlaps many food trucks so I don't get much chances to frequent them so when I find them I immediately gravitate towards them. The "Zeus" Deluxe Gyro was it for me since it was like the heavens that had called me to this it's basically your classic gyro with double the meat (yeah!) Filled with seasoned beef and lamb strips, lettuce, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, smeared with hummus and topped with that amazing tzatziki sauce oh my gosh it was huge but all the right balance and super yummy filling without giving you the coma I had it right before work and kept be going all night long. I asked where they're usually at and apparently at Mother Waldron Park but plan to be at Cooke Street much more. I'm so glad I finally got to try Gyros N Villains! I love gyros and these are delicious! I saw the food truck on Cooke Street and ordered a classic gyro. It was so good I only took a picture after we both started eating. The meat is delicious and the sauce is so good. I would definitely come here again. I just wished they were open longer. New spot in the neighborhood! T, TH on Cooke st by the Kaiser building and M, W at mother Waldron park for lunch. lots of options for gyros! I didn't know what to choose, I thought it was cool they have some chicken dishes along with the lamb. I ended up grabbing the philly style, with tater tots. I came by at 11:40 with maybe 3 or 4 ppl ahead of me and waited 10min, it went by real quick. The gyro is huge!! Super filling, I think i'd rather have the original than the philly style, I ended up missing the sauce. The meat was very flavorful and the veggies were fresh and crispy. The tater tots were super fresh and pipping hot, so hot that they melted the top of the ketchup takeout cover! They gave a good amount of tater tots and enough ketchup too. Went on a thursday around 1:30 and there was no line. We ordered the Classic Gyro and the donuts. Portion sizes here are perfect and the flavors are so good. One day they're by Safeway, next thing you know they're in kapahulu, sometimes they're at some Makiki park or what Anna bananas? but i actually found them on south street. If you don't get a neck strain trying to figure out where they stay then it's def worth it. The regular gyro had choke meat, lots of flavor a really nice soft new pita (hikai restaurant use old hard kind das y) and just enough veggies to fold that shizzle. I am perplexed to who in the world would want extra meat cuz the thing not going close. And if you not Julia Robert's or Steve Tyler it ain't going to fit in your mouth so stick to the regular one never mind extra meatI also ordered side hummus which were nicely done. Located across the street from the Convention Center and next door to Micronesia Mart...it's a place that I've passed by many a time, but never gave it a second glance. Yes, the area is a bit sketchy, but don't let that hold you back from giving them a try. So glad I follow some amazing foodies on IG that post their daily meals around the island, which gives me ideas on where to go next. It was the pita chips that made me so curious about this place. My friend and I shared the Classic Gyro and the pita chips. Both were AMAZING! The Classic Gyro had beef and lamb strips, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with Tzatziki sauce that's wrapped in a pita. Delicious! The pita chips aren't your average pita chips. They're crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It also comes with their house made red hummus, which is a wonderful complement to the pita chips. Even when I was so full from the food, I still wanted more of those pita chips. Even when I got home I was still thinking about it...lol! There is a little bit of a wait because he makes it fresh, but we were his first customers as soon as he opened so it wasn't too bad. You can park next to Micronesia Mart, but if you go early like we did then you can park in front of Rock ZA. Owner is a single dad with a child that he makes a top priority (love that!), so daytime hours are not always consistent, but nighttime hours are pretty consistent (Tues - Sat 6 - 10 pm;6-2/3 am weekends). I give it 4 because of the honesty of the guy that sold me the hummus and pita chips. The food is tasty, especially when you're starving and have walked under the blazing Hawaiian sun. I walked with a friend of mine and got to their wagon and ordered myself a gyro and hummus and pita. Make sure to get the fried pita because as he said they are delicious. I opted out on getting fries and dessert, so this was my unhealthy choice. However, I can back it up saying I walked to his food truck and walked back to work and the fried pita was delicious. The gyro wasn't bad at all either and I wish I tried other items but I just have to stay within my budget of eating out since everything is expensive. However I have to say for $10 a gyro, you are satiated and quite happy and it didn't break the bank! Everything is made to order and I was quite pleased it all looked so fresh. If you want a lot of food for $12, then this is a great spot. The two stars is mostly for the service, which should be a second thought given they're a food truck. Not sure if they are rude or just awkward, but the cashier and the guy who gave me my food were both not very friendly. The cashier did not greet, let alone acknowledge me, as I walked up to the food truck to look at the menu and order. The guy who handed me my food was a little off-putting too. As he handed me my food, I said "thank you" as courtesy. He just looked at me without saying a word as if he was upset he had to hand me my gyro. Food - lots of meat on the gyro. Very, very messy. I opened my foil-wrapped gyro to find the tzatziki carelessly spread over the gyro. Please see the photo for a reference. The meat tasted decent, and there was a lot of it - perhaps the only thing I liked about it. The pita tasted just like the ones from Costco, which are solid, but nothing special. If you're in town, I'd go to a bunch of places above this food truck. Greek Marina or Bar Koko are both better options for Mediterranean food. read more

greek food is somewhat hard to find here in hawaii. definitely not as abundant as poke shops. i ordered the regular gyro since it was my first time here. i wanted to get a side of chicken too for extra protein, but they wouldnt give it to me. im not sure what it is about a side of chicken thats impossible to do, but they literally made it seem like it was an impossible task that just could not be done, even though they have chicken on the menu. and they couldnt offer me any reasonable explanation, other than, no we cannot do that. the gyro itself was large and messy. so be prepared for that. definitely not the easiest gyro to eat. there was a ton of sauce, that got all over the foil wrapper, which then got all over my hands. and because its so packed i also ended up dropping a lot of veggies on the table as i ate. meat is cut up, not the long strips that im used to in the gyro, which also adds to the difficulty in eating it since everything inside is chopped up. pita was good too. it was warm and soft. i hate when places give you a hard pita that breaks when you fold it and is dry. it was very tasty though and worth price. i would totally eat this again. cashier was super friendly. he tried to help me out with the chicken situation, but the chef (owner?) kept adamantly telling him no like it was just an impossible and unreasonable task read more

I've passed by Gyros N Villians a million times on the way to the gym when they were on their old Kapiolani location. They closed for a bit and now are operating out of a repurposed Handi-Van! Serving mainly the Ward area, check their Instagram for hours and locations. We got their classic gyro and their Zeus Deluxe (which is basically the classic with double the meat and some extra toppings). They are super generous with the portions and I even had trouble finishing my classic. Flavors are good and I would definitely go back to try some other items. The Philly style seemed to be really popular! I do hope they have some rice plates later and I hear they are working on a spicy sauce too! read more

We ordered their Go to- ZEUS Gyro- Double meat- Def a lot of food!! Cant even put the whole thing into your mouth! the Tzaziki sauce was very bitter and super thick- wish it was more spread out. Also there was a lot of lettuce which filled about 50% of the sandwich. Overall taste was pretty good. Meat was juicy and Salty. We also had the red pepper hummus with local made pita- 10$- a little pricey- the hummus wasnt creamy at all. it had more of a cement paste consistency like there wasnt enough Tahini. Just so happens I had seen the gyro truck. Immediately my car veered into the lot that it was sitting in and I ordered me and my daughter a gyro. I had to crawl before I walk (sample it first ) so I ordered both of us just a gyro sandwich. I got home and ate it and wanted to kick myself in the butt for getting only a sandwich don't get me wrong. It was plenty. I finally got to try Gyros N Villains when they opened for dinner one night off of Kapahulu Ave. I JUMPED on this opportunity when I saw it flash on my Instagram stories. And boy, am I glad I did. We ordered the Classic and the "Zeus" Deluxe gyros, and we absolutely inhaled them. The meat inside is juicy, flavorful, and the portions are generous. I was stuffed and happy by the end of the meal, and we still talk about how good they were. The tzatziki sauce is BOMB and the only thing that would've made it even better would've been some spicy hot sauce or peppers on the side. Gyros N Villains is the real deal, people. If you see this food truck for lunch, you'd be remiss not to give them a try. You can taste the love and care they put into their food, and I guarantee you will be back. I'm so happy that I was able to experience their wonderful gyros again! My husband has been requesting for their gyros. They use be on Kapiolani Blvd and then we didn't know where they went for a while and we had to get our gyro fix else where. Boy Oh boy I'm so glad we found them again because the other gyro place I ordered from (which will remain unnamed) didn't wash their lettuce!! Gyros arent on my "regular" food choices and i am by no means qualified to write a review... but im still gunna... I got the classic gyro and tots. My first thought was that the gyro was huge and had ALOT of meat... actually more meat than id prefer - i tend to like it with more vegies than meat, but i know im a minority so if you are a meat lover this is the place for you. The flavor and tenderness of the meat was spot on, the tzatziki is fire, the few veges i got were crisp and refreshing! I have to admit the tots were ok. Standard tots, quantity wise its a large portion, but would be better with some sort of seasoning sprinkled on it (or actually i think it would be great with either hummus or that amazing tzatziki sauce as dip instead of ketchup - i do love ketchup it seemed kind of off paired with gyro... i guess ive never had gyros and ketchup at the same time but might just be me lol. I walk by this place sometimes two three times a day intentionally for my daily exercise and any time they are open I almost always stop by to pick up some food. In my opinion this is the best Gyro spot on the island. Matt and Omar do a great job and you can tell that they are passionate about their food creations. The first time I went there I had a lamb gyro and omg, the anticipation from smelling them prepare it made it taste 3x better! Lately I have been trying to eat less carbs so it's always the gyro salad and I always order extra lamb! The lamb is so amazing! My co workers wanted to try the pita chips and hummus and that is super goood too! The pita chips have like a crispness and a crunch but yet it's still chewy and delicious. I just got some food today and I forgot to take a pic of the before but I did take a close up of some of the lamb leftovers that I will put in a toaster oven later tonight and eat with some organic greens and their taztaki sauce!!!! I read a couple of reviews before we tried this place - ok, I read all of them - so imagine my surprise when I see the sandwiches are, in fact, gigantic. No one in my 5-person family could finish their sandwiches. And I am a big girl. Well, maybe I gotta give some props to the L & L cheeseburger combo I had at a lunch. Never mind! First of all, parking. No parking! We had to park illegally by a dumpster by Aloha Spa. Plus we had to drive around the block a couple of times first before we figured it out. You could potentially park at Rock Za, but you'd have to pay the $4 valet fee. It was around 930 pm, and the guy at the window said during the day parking is much better. Most sandwiches are between $10 and $12. They also have stuff like jalapeño poppers and mozzarella cheese sticks. Inexplicably, a bag of donuts and quesadillas are upcharged after 8 pm. But hey, forewarned is forearmed, right? This is a food truck next to a popular strip bar across a convention center on one of the busiest streets in the city. There is no seating. Ok, I saw like a little picnic table under a tree with a few chairs. You could probably sit there. But it was so dark and so busy I'm pretty sure I wouldn't. Maybe in the day time. Now, the sandwiches. I had the Butcher Boy, which had beef and lamb and Italian sausage with red peppers, covered in marinara sauce and wrapped in a pita. That description could not have prepared me for the deliciousness of my sandwich. There was SO MUCH MEAT! And so complex and flavorful! I could not finish it - it was too big and I was afraid to try. I stopped at halfway and saved the rest for later. Daughter #1 had the classic gyro and she said it was really good. It was similarly bursting with filling and smelled amazing. Daughter #2 ordered the chicken "Cutty" parmesan, which she said was tasty, albeit a little dry. Next time - extra sauce! My son had "Scarface" Cubano, which was similarly filling and pretty delish. We ordered a"Gotti Gotti for my husband, but haven't had an opportunity to get feedback yet. Someone else came by while we were there and tried to order the Axel "Falafel" Foley, but they were out. Note to self - these are probably pretty popular! These are real sandwiches, friends, with real, fresh ingredients - and worth every single penny. With gyros in the name, it goes without saying that the gyro offerings are the stars of the show. But don't discount the "villains"! Side note - they take cards! So if you used up all your dollar bills at the club or it's just too close to payday, you can charge it up. The guys in the truck are really nice! But there's only 2 guys in there and that meant our 5 sandwiches took 20 minutes to make. That was ok with us - we just sat in our illegally parked vehicle to wait - but if you're in some kind of hurry you're going to have to go somewhere else.
