Just moved into the neighborhood and was scoping out the new food options around the block. Drove past Sergs and the craving for a burrito kicked in. WARNING the parking lot is tiny so you may have to find parking nearby. As soon as I arrived I could tell this place was swamped with Togo orders and shortly after the line grew substantially for people waiting to place their orders. I ordered a taco because on Tuesday they have TACO TUESDAY ! And I wanted to make sure it was worth coming back for . The asada was good! Not dry I just wished I'd asked for some salsa but the lady was busy and I'm guessing because of Covid they probably have everything packed up individually. Besides that I could tell that the taco was good and a decent size for the price. My asada burrito was also good, meat was nicely cooked you get a whole plate of food which ended up being my lunch for the following day. Four stars for the Carne Asada fries. Two stars for everything else I've tried. I first started with the Flautas, recommended here, but wasn't impressed with them or their value (seems a small portion for nearly $9). Subsequently, I ordered other things but forgot to ask for no sour cream, so that disappointment was partially my fault. Eventually I spotted the Carne Asada fries, and I don't know that I'll try anything else now. Reasonably flavorful and decent portion size, seems a better value for my nine bucks than the much-touted flautas. Wait time is okay, especially if you can hang out under the tent. You don't have many choices for Mexican on campus, and it seems about on par with the state of Mexican food on Oahu. The location has moved - it's now between Campus Center and Kuykendall. read more

What a day! Tried to order tortas, and they were out. Attempted to get sopes and informed it's sold out. Rushed to get Al Pastor Cali Burrito. Service was a breeze. Size of burrito was just right and filling looked appealing. Loved taste and spices of Al Pastor (pork) and hot salsas. Disgusted with carb overload of potato sliced like fries in flour tortilla. Delicious street style tacos! I was a little shocked by the price since I was used to the mainland but eh. That's the cost of living here. I had the carne asada tacos and taquitos! Everything was extremely delicious and flavorful. The parking can be a little tight but everyone's usually really good if someone needs to move. It's a great hangout spot for large groups if you can come when it's not super busy. We came after a baseball game so there was about 5 families in our party. The kids had fun playing foosball and the adults enjoyed each other's company in its laid back atmosphere. It's also BYOB! We also tasted the wings and carne asada fries from next door. Serg's is going to be here at UH Manoa permanently or so they say. Let's hope so!!! Their food is traditional, hearty and delicious. Tentative Summer 2017 schedule is: Tuesday/Thursday on in front of the John F Kennedy Theatre on E. West Rd. Monday/Wednesday/Friday at the Cafeteria. But they mentioned that eventually be in front of UH Manoa's Cafeteria Monday through Friday. :D My first but not my last Steak Flauta! The description says it's lightly fried but don't take that lightly. I feel like it's more of a chimichanga than an oversized flauta. It's hearty and the amount of meat chunks is generous. The tortillas' crispy goodness holds up well under the guac salsa (verde) and queso fresco (crumble cheese). There's also plenty of fresh cilantro adorning the sauces on top. The portion is large. Enough for 2 meals for me, so I'll be saving half for later. The fat girl in me wants to finish the whole thing right now but I will resist. XD You know good and well that there aren't many good Mexican food choices and even less food trucks in Honolulu. Being Latina and growing up with Empanadas and carne asada on the parrilla I'm always looking for some down Latino flavors. They are one of the good ones. It's great to have Serge's now on campus next to the POST building. It looks like they've hit the ground running. I had the chicken burrito place for about $8.50, and you get an ample amount of black beans and Spanish rice with that. The burrito is smaller than Verde Kaimuki's burrito at $7 but you get way more food overall. The food came out quickly and nice and hot. They doubled up on dispensers for three of their salsas (avocado, salsa verde, and one other red one that was hot) that you can flood onto your lunch plate. Mas salsa por favor! That they have two locations besides this along with their hot wings stand, they leverage their experience in running this here. Coming from California, I have high expectations for how my tacos should taste. As you all should know, Hawai'i is not really known for any authentic Mexican food. However, I believe that Serg's is home to the best tasting tacos on the island! I first went to their original location in Mānoa in the year 2012, and I've been a loyal fan since. I'm glad they finally decided to have a truck on campus, as it's now much more convenient. Today though, I go with a friend and we order 6 tacos, she gets all carne Asada and I try to order carnitas... oh wait they're out of that. Ok I'll get pastor... oh wait they're out... ok I'll get lengua... oh wait they're out... ok I'll get cachete... guess what... out. So I finally settle on chicken and carne asada... It gets better, we're now waiting for about a half hour and we go up and ask where our food is. This lunch wagon is sort of unique. Just in how it looks and is generally by campus center or POST on UH Manoa. Let's get straight to it in not really impressed by this lunch wagon and Hawaii is just filled with pride in our plate lunches. First off, the cashier charged $8.38 for a carne asada steak plate. I give $20.00 and he gives back $11.60. Scheming students isn't where you want to go. Especially an engineer student who calculates change, taxes and tips before taxes in his head. I don't really care for $0.02 but some do and that goes a long way. This gives me the impression that you really don't care for your customers. Money is money homie and you should know because you purposefully kept that 2 cents. We broke too. You didn't fool anyone and by that I'm writing this review. Unimpressed... On top of that, they started a little late and we had to wait. The food is ok for the hungry college student. However, I really observe what I intake as an athlete. The steak seems pre-cooked and it isn't how steak is supposed to be cooked. I know other lunch wagons that cook everything and it's worth the wait. We waited for this... I've tasted way better carne asada and better pico de gallo. Since I'm not perfect and we all scheme at some point in our lives, I'll give this lunch wagon the benefit of the doubt and say the beans were okay, the rice was nice and the food wasn't totally awful. **I just noticed that they finally crated a page for the Express location, so I deleted my old review on the Manoa page, and moved it over here. Keep in mind, this review is from about 2 months ago, a few weeks after they first opened. The only thing I deleted was the disclaimer stating that it was for the Express location. I really hate giving this place a 2-star review. But my lunch experience today was just not up to par. I came here for lunch by recommendation of my supervisor, who swears that the flautas are to die for. I was excited. I went to the counter, waited in line, paid for my food, and waited for my food. Then the guy who took my money comes back to me and says that they don't have the flautas. This made me feel pretty sad - I really didn't want to eat anything else. But I felt bad asking for my money back. So I asked if I could try the sopes instead. He said okay, went back to the cart, and then came back to me again and told me that they couldn't make the sopes either. At that point, I had already been waiting for 10 minutes. My lunch break is 30 minutes. I had to walk back to my office and actually eat my food. So, although I hated to do it, I asked for my money back. Then the guy walked back to the cart and told the chefs that I was asking for my money back. I felt so incredibly uncomfortable. Then he said "Okay okay we can make the sopes. We can make it." So I didn't get my money back, and instead I got a rushed plate of food. The taste of the sopes is just okay. There are 2 on the plate. I could really only bring myself to finish eating one. As I was going through the yelp page before beginning to write my review, I looked a picture of the chicken flautas and wished that I were eating those instead. I may come back with an updated review later, but for today, 2 stars it is. The only thing saving my experience today was the chef who kindly handed me my food with a smile, and sincerely apologized for not having the food I originally ordered. I personally think he is the one who needs to be working at the front instead of the slower older man who currently works there now. I get that the chef needs to be making the food, but the lines get long and don't move very quickly with their current setup. Stopped by today to have lunch. Food was not good at all. Rice was extra grease and salty tacos were cold and the meat not tender. My wife ordered fish tacos and the coleslaw was old and tasteless. The azada plate was supposed have nopales(cactus) and there was none. The refried beans were cold and tasteless as well. I've been going to the Manoa restaurant through my college years. The best Mexican food in Hawaii. The Flautas are my favorite. It's deep fried and comes with sides. You can't go wrong with that. Ps: obviously this is a express food truck and not a full service kitchen. If you try to eat at Sergs at the end of your lunch break you will probably not get want you want. We've been going to Serg's for the last several years in Manoa and we're thrilled to see their truck by Walmart on Keaamoku. Same great food, same great service, very affordable and extremely tasty and authentic. My husband was born and raised in LA and lived there for 49 years and knows authentic Mexican food worth paying for. Great deal on Mexican food. Their burrito, chimichanga, tacos and flautas are ono. IMO each is best with steak rather than chicken. The chicken taco was dry unlike the steak, which is juicy. Their burritos, chimichanga and flautas are BIG. Their rice is very good. Each order is $10 which is well worth the price. I kind of have a love hate thing going with this truck, which often parks outside of my work. I love their food, but hate that I'm getting fat, spending on lunch again, and neglecting the salads I bring for lunch. I tried eating only half but can't help eating the whole ting. read more

Very decent mexican fare from a food trailer. I always get the veggie chimichanga. Service can be a little slow when there's a line, but that's to be expected. It's best to go on slightly off-peak hours to avoid the line. I'm so glad they replaced the previous food vendor. I now eat at Serg's at least once a week. I once caught them a bit early when the cashier was away from his post. The chef was kind enough to set aside his own lunch to take my order, prepare the food, and he even figured out the cash register. I was impressed by his dedication to the business. read more

Delicious food! We had Serg's food truck cater our rehearsal dinner for our wedding on April 7th, 2018. The food was better than expected and the staff was fast! We had a little over 70 people and they made sure every single person had enough to eat. Every single person was raving about how good it was. Such a good idea having the food truck set up right at the house we were having the wedding at the next day. Serg was easy to communicate with and personalized the menu. yay serg's has arrived on campus! they're located near the POST building (one with the blue windows), in the parking lot, in the spot the laverne's truck used to occupy (laverne's moved to krauss? where simply ono truck was, haven't checked yet so can't say for sure). now i can get my flautas on while i am working! they also have a taco plate and a burrito plate. the flauta plate is $8 plus tax. granted the flauta is a little smaller than the manoa restaurant location but it is still substantial enough for lunch and is reasonably priced. the plate comes with beans and rice. they had a mini salsa "bar" which consisted of 3 choices, i forget what but i got the mild avocado. nice to see new trucks on campus! well in this case it's a mini trailer adjoined by a tent. read more

Agree with previous reviewer, I sadly have not enjoyed anything I've ordered from here....and I have tried the Taco Salad, Burritos, Flautas...there is no flavor and the food is very oily. Wish I could say otherwise as it is also very close by. read more
