I first encountered The Pie Place not at their brick-and-mortar store but rather through a farmers' market. I saw small pies in a variety of flavors, and I chose two of the flavors. Each small pie cost several dollars. I ate the pies at home. The apple pie had a crispy crust, fresh apples, and the right amount of cinnamon and nutmeg, and I rate it as 4.5 stars. The cherry pie also had a crispy crust and was filled with sweet and tart cherries, and I rate it as 5 stars.

The cake was marble cake with Almond Bavarian Custard, and buttercream frosting. The three layers of marble cake were wonderfully moist. The Almond Bavarian Custard had a nice, subtle almond flavor, and the cake tasted better the next day. The buttercream frosting was smooth, and not overly sweet. The decorating was beautifully done. My husband ordered Lady Locks and brownies from the counter when we stopped in to pick up the cake. He loved the Lady Locks, and brownies which he warmed up to eat with ice cream.
