Hotel Costes bar has gone so tremendously downhill, it is laughable. Literally, we laughed as we left the bar today in disgust. The drinks they brought us were actually undrinkable - a true first, ever... and especially heinous in Paris of all places. I used to come here for the ambiance and romantic courtyard, beaufiful flowers and interior, but I will never set foot in here again. 22 EUR for a "gin fizz", which was actually the flattest, most frat party gross gin and tonic I have ever been served. Could not drink. We returned both drinks to the waitress and after five minutes of waiting, decided it better just to leave... another first. We certainly were not rude about it either. This place only caters to unimportant people who want to be "seen"... and to give unhappy pseudo-models dayjobs as waitresses. What a joke - NOT CHIC and definitely not cool anymore. read more

Totally a luxurious glamor at the heart of the city. This was my first stay at the Costes. I loved the fashionable guests, the trendy ambiance and the luxurious interior design. It's a little dark and the cocktails weren't cheap, but that's all part of the experience here. read more

Review for the bar/patio. It's a beautiful hotel and bar. Though the patio is covered, they do sometimes open and try to air out the smoke...But they need to do better because it is incredibly smokey as it starts getting busy. I visited on a friday, early evening, for drinks before dinner. Everyone was nice except when the waitress shift changed and they were rushing us out telling us that they needed the table, even though there were a ton of tables. We ignored her and her attitude and finished out 3rd round of drinks at our pace. It is quite a pretentious place...No wonder they have a lawsuit against discriminating against looks. Smh. Would have loved to enjoy a cocktail and/or some light fare, however when my fiancé and I (tried to) enter the restaurant lobby area we were greeted by an extremely rude "door man". He asked if we had reservations (we did not...obviously a mistake on our part), then before I could say "no" he literally shut the door on our face. Now keep in mind, we are savvy dressed New Yorkers. Not our first time at a nice place like this. But he was so incredibly rude, I've never been treated like that before. And to top it off, his breath was terrible. So our experience consisted of being greeted by a rude, smelly throated man, and being shunned away to the streets like we don't belong. A lot of what has been written will cover the experience, I personnaly have eaten here once only and found the food to be wholly overpriced but not bad, just not worth it, therefore I recommend you go here for what they are really offering...a scene, that's right this is one of those places where your supposed to see and be seen, so get out the fancy shmancy clothes you bought on a whim, but have yet been able to wear, then sounter into this place showing no fear and have drink at the bar or in the lounge. You can find enough stuff to order to make sure you can linger as long as you please. While here the fun part is watching people, it is very likely that you will see and possibly recognize someone rich or famous and in any case the eye candy (both male and female), is worth the experience. The music is very good and the actual place is quite incredible to look at, filled with various rooms each overly decorated but with style, and appeal. One thing I love to do is go to the bathroom downstaires, as you pass by tables you will get looks from everyone as they try and figure out if your famous or not, walk with pride and keep them guessing. read more

Don't waste your time or money going to this place. Yes it is beautiful and trendy, but I had reservation for 4 on the patio and when we arrived we were shown to a table In the back room somewhere. I spoke to the manager about the apparent mishap and his comment was that the patio was reserved for hotel guests. The patio was empty and it was 8:30pm. We left and went the the world famous Buddha Bar down the block and had an amazing meal and much better atmosphere read more

It is unfortunate that I have to write such an awful review because of my experience with the staff. The hotel is one of the most beautiful places to stay in Paris; however during my stay, the hotel maid stole several items from our room including a $1,000 Hermes belt still in it's box, not having been open. When I spoke to the front desk about the incident, they did not offer to help in any way, not even initiate an investigation. Sadly, I will never return to Hotel Costes as the staff cannot be trusted. read more

My husband and I came here for breakfast. As we walked into the hotel we were greeted by a beautiful decor and lots and lots of beautiful rose arrangements all over the restaurant. The beautiful fragrance from the flowers was just amazing. The restaurant was decorated beautifully with velvet seats, beautiful classical paintings. I felt like I was in a museum/ opera house. Our waiter was very nice and professional making us feel welcomed and comfortable. The restaurant was not busy so it was a nice quiet environment. I ordered a selection of French pastries and a freshly squeezed orange juice. It was very nice but be prepared to spend a lot as it not cheap here. I think it is definitely worth the visit and experience. read more

Before you start reading, I didn't get a chance to have dinner there. We actually had a reservation but the service was so bad from the beginning that I lost my appetite. The reason why I wanted to have dinner there was for the decor; beautiful. In a way, it kind of looks like the Hudson hotel in New York. I looked at some of the guests plates so yummy and I wanted to give it a try. Well didn't happen. We were greed by beautiful models look alike hostesses, and frankly thats all they were. No training at all about service. Bear in mind, this place is super expensive so you ought to be extremely courteous with the way you greed your customers. Anyway, none of that happen. We were sat in the back of the restaurant and I asked if we could changed seat, as I requested over the phone while making a reservation, you come for the view and the food, not to be in the back. It was a radical no. A no as if they are so overwhelmed that they cannot deal with someone wanting to change seat, while the hostess who puts us there in the first place, just picked a random seat..Anyway, I was afraid that my whole experience be ruined due to this incident that I decided it was not the right time. From September 2009 and January 2010. Originally came here with guys from my Paris office who wanted to take me to an eye popping place. They promised me a great night in advance. Having been to Brazil several times in the past 7 years, I had thought the most beautiful women in the world lived in Rio. Upon entering Hotel Costes that view changed quickly. The most beautiful Parisian women were both servers and patrons. The atmosphere was upscale and high fashion and classy. We ate dinner twice in Sept 2009 in the courtyard garden. The food was average and the wine list spectacular. The vibe was amazing and the interior stunning! Every city in the world has "the place" to be seen and people watch. Hotel Costes is it in Paris. The lounge was seductive and made you feel like you'd never want to go anywhere else. Upon returning in January 2010, the scene was still the same, complete with the beautiful Parisian women eager to make your evening a great dining experience. I am still trying to find the same experience in NYC or for that matter any other place in the world. I wish their website would provide more photos for the memories. read more

I just had my lunch today at hotel Costes . And it was the worst day for me in Paris !!! There was a hosted called ((SHAYNE)) I have never seen a rude hosted like her in my hole life . I came with my family to have lunch in the Resturnt , and we made a booking already from the hotel . And when I arrived to the resturant I asked her if it possible to have table outside in the courtyard ,Because I saw a lot of empty table there and they are not resirved !! She said No and she give me a hidden table behind the wall !! While there are a lot of free table around the area . And I asked her again could we have any table from those empty one she said NO with BAD ATTUIDE and said this only for the Hotel Guest !!!! While we asked another waiter and she said yes sure you can have any table and she was surprised about the hostess attitude .She was racism and she think we are not good enoug for that place !!! read more

Long time hip, cool Paris spot near the Rue de Rivoli. Went there for a late night dinner (we ordered at 11:30) and despite the smoke (yes, they still do that) managed to have a very nice meal. Everything was good. From the tuna tartar to the artichoke with Asparagus tips to the sea bass and the spicy lobster pasta, it was all delicious. Not shockingly, even the house Bordeaux was excellent. Pretentious and populated by more than a few annoying, stereo-typical, aging, monied types, it is still worth enduring all of that. In fact, the staff was actually very helpful, especially after a 10 Eur. tip to aid in getting to a better, non-smokey table. That made it almost perfect. read more

I have been going to Hotel Costes a couple of times over the past few years and loved it. Last week was a disaster though. We ordered drinks at the bar, and went to sit down for an hour, enjoying the drinks. After that we decided to leave, then a waitress came running, saying we had not payed for the drinks. This is not the way to behave with guests/customers. She insisted we come back to the bar and we tried to explain we had ordered the drinks at the bar, and payed for them there. After a while the waitress we had ordered the drinks from, and took care of our payment came and said "They payed a long time ago". And then we left, got no excuses or nothing. Very very rude. I might never come back, and I will definately tell anyone that ask me for advise on where to go for drinks in Paris that Hotel Costes will not treat you nice. read more

For me it is the best place in Paris

Last night something outrageous happen to me and a group of my friends from New York at the Hotel Costes. Initially I was refused entry to the bar with three other African American women; however, what really outraged me was once the doorman lets us in he then instructed the bartender to not serve us. This has never happened to me in my life. I felt like I was transported back to the 1950's. I feel this type of behaviour in our times is just unacceptable and needs to be known. The social media is a powerful tool and thus I am taking action today by spreading the word to my friends having them spread it to their friends. So please if you think this unacceptable behaviour let the Hotel Costes know and spread it to your friends. And the Hotel Costes will not just be hearing from me virtually but also they will be receiving a nasty letter as well! read more

Beautiful grounds but the staff is rude which completely ruined the mood. Wanted to have a dinner after hearing good reviews on food quality, but was advised all the table are booked for the night even thought it was 6 pm. Didn't think much of it since the place is quite popular and subsequently just decided to have a glass of wine. However even 1 hour after my arrival the tables in the restaurant were still unoccupied!!! 75% of tables were empty. I was visiting alone and initially said that most likely won't be staying too long...so seeing all this emptiness it was quite clear that I was turned away for bogus reason. Manager of the place a woman, was not apologetic or even tried to accommodate in any way. I did not encounter a restaurant yet that turns paying clients away and failed on basic principle of customer service. After traveling all over the world this is the biggest disappointment by far, even Michelin star restaurant do not treat customers this way. Advise to the patrons, if you turn away a customer for whatever reason at least accommodate them at the bar with an extra glass of wine, good tip and could spare a bad review. Not returning back ever, would rather spend money at the establishment that values business of paying customers. read more
