Hands down. Nothing compares to H & C Chemists. It is the BEST pharmacy on the PLANET. Does anybody do compounding anymore? Nope? Will your big chains help you, answer questions, let alone know what "Apothecary" really means? Nope. Sorry Charlie. But H & C are old school, true blue pharmacologists! If you want to be a lemming, and stand in line like cattle, go to any OTHER drugstore. Not this one. I'm as serious as a heart attack. Even other Mom & Pop pharmacies, which seem to be sprouting up like mushrooms all over the Upper East Side (which I've coined "Bed -Pan Ally" for decades now) cannot compare to this place. Their staff is wonderful; I'm not naming names just because everyone here gets a gold star in my book. And I do keep a book. And g-d forbid you need a bedpan, they have that too!!! As well as all sorts of items to make sure you are comfortable. The have awesome products (besides medications) that only this gem of a store carries. And if they don't have it, they will order it for you. Getting back to Pharmacy department; if you are told your medication will be ordered and ready at 4pm, trust me it will be. They are always on time and on schedule, which is a rarity these days. Nobody who goes into a pharmacy is happy about having to take medication. I have nva walked out of a independent pharmacy, feeling impressed until I gave H&C Chemists a try! So impressed to the point I had the urge to go on yelp and make sure to review them!!! As soon as I walked in, the pharmacist greeted me and took my insurance card right away. Within 10 mins, I had my prescription all ready to go!! Best place to go if you have a compound prescription. Walking around Manhattan you'll eventually find a gem of a local store here and there, and this is definitely one of them. It stands out on the corner amongst other local pharmacies and the customer service is so spot one. Everyone is always eager to help you or find a way to help you even if the store doesn't have what you want. The pharmacy is quick, so kind, and if you can't stay to wait, they have no problem delivering it or shipping it out. Even the delivery people are nice to you! Because of the staff, and Steve (the owner) this is the best drugstore and pharmacy in the city. It is a small store compared to the big chains, but the service is exceptional. They are always ready to help with any and all requests for information as well as being hands-on helpful with any advice about their Rx's and, in fact, all of their inventory. If you want old style personal attention, simply no place better. They will take the time to make your medicine up like it should be. Needed some crazy compound cream, had no idea it was even made anymore. Pharmacist said no problem, put all the special ingredients in, very professional, clean, quick and fair prized.
