The last time I wrote a review on Publix in Waxhaw, I have them 5 stars but things have changed…read moreslowly for the worst. The customer service is till top tier and the selection is what you'd expect from Publix. However, the bakery quality has gone down hill. The cookies tend to be over baked, hard and inedible. The freshly baked bread isn't the same quality that I've come to expect either. Another area, this Publix struggles with is keeping the shelves stocked consistently especially the eggs. I've gone in on numerous occasions and the egg selection is minimal and sometimes just nonexistent. The milk section is half stocked most of the time as is the bread section. With all of this being said, I'm still a fan of Publix because of their great customer service but I know that certain items I need to buy at their competitors.

I get a notice it was delivered at my door. I open the door and there are four brand new Food Lion paper bags lying on my welcome mat empty. I call Food Lion, had to speak to three people and the last person stated, we use a third party for delivery. You mean to tell me, someone did not have to get the food for this Insta-cart person. He then proceeded to give me the insta-cart number. I call Insta-Cart and they say, We can't find you phone number or email. Mind you I am receiving emails, and text. So now, I receive a email this morning stating my food was delievered June 29th, and I have three pending charges on my Credit Card for $135.02. Very disappointed on the service and assistance from both companies. I will not be using them again...

They have recently renovated and things were hectic for a little while, but it has shaped up nicely. The deli is nice--though understaffed--the produce section has grown and is constantly upkept, and the aisles are always being stocked or adjusted. I had an issue with broth when I went in earlier this year but they were more than happy to a, address the issue, and b, refund my purchase. If you are willing to speak, they will speak back. They help if you need it.

They have self check out as the primary form of checkout with what seems to be an employee standing guard. If you are not good with this, this could be a problem. And two employees, Ricky and Kaitlyn went absolutely above and beyond to help me with my situation. They most likely saw that I was a bit stressed out at the self checkout line and Ricky even offered to buy my daughter a candy of her choice. Kaitlyn was very polite and reassuring, she let me know not to worry and she tried to make my daughter feel better. DG is the best place for things like laundry detergent, shampoo and the like. Today, they even had bottled water, a hot commodity as we prepare for the apocalypse Hurricane and nowhere has water. Saturday might be the best shopping day here. I've been getting digital coupons for $5 off of $25 weekly, good for that Saturday. Also hit them up for back-to-school supplies. I made out like a bandit on pencils, paper, hard-to-find post-it notes and everything our fifth grader needed.

Great shop today. The store is well stocked, all merchandise in stock with no "outs." The store is clean and well lit. This store is laid out the same as others with four wide aisles. Cookies, crackers, chips, bread at the bottom of the first aisle become produce at the bottom. Second aisle is more produce and then canned/boxed goods including cereals and such. Third aisle is always a little random at one end with a different display of stuff every time, from dish racks to car tools to towels. And the fourth aisle is wine and frozen and then water. Along the back wall is the deli, dairy and fresh meats. Easy, right? Checkout at ALDI is different than Publix. Your stuff goes right back into a cart and then you'll bag it up yourself. No free bags at ALDI, you either bring your own, luck out with a cardboard box that they've just emptied onto a shelf or you can buy bags. Oh, and bring a quarter for the shopping cart deposit. It has a few tables and even when they are all occupied doesn't feel crowded. Todays choice was breakfast - a western omelette w/toast and home fries. The omelette actually had decent cheese like a cheddar on it not the typical Kraft singles. It had a great amount of veggies and the ham was solid. Toast has brushes butter and it's good large amount of butter fat butter hmmm my favorite. Home fries had a good crisp and didn't have that spray that others use on the grill. They were quite good w/the right amount of seasoning. Blue Door is a solid choice for breakfast and their mainstay sandwiches.
