    Yummy pizza

Awesome neighborhood spot with really good drink choices and great food options. Pizza is super good

Stopped in on a Tuesday night with some friends from out of town. Service was good, they had a good selection on tap as well as in their cooler. Will definitely make this a stop again.

And as crowded as it was on our recent visit, The One may eventually have to seek out trendier, more spacious digs somewhere else in the Queen City. Until then, be prepared for a noisy ambiance, peak hour waits and tables that are a bit close for comfort. But the food and cocktails make it all worth it. The extensive menu of shareable plates offers something for every palate, from the tasty Fettucini with Roasted Duck Ragu and flavorful Braised Short Ribs to the amazing Oxtail Empanadas. Paired with a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned or a bottle of wine from their impressive selection, it adds up to a compelling culinary experience for anything from date night to an evening with friends. Service was excellent on our visit and prices were very reasonable for a meal of this caliber. Parking is free and super-easy, but reservations are highly recommended -- especially for weekend visits. My only gripe was the tightness of the space, which makes intimate conversation a bit challenging and the tables a bit crowded -- especially when you order a variety of plates. But if you can manage to visit on a quiet weeknight, The One will deliver a wonderful tapas meal that will have you planning a return visit before you pick up the check.

We started with the oyster shooters and they were great. The brussel Sprouts were on point. Not sure what it's called but we had a salmon and clams small dish that was awesome. The Lamb Ragu was amazing, and even my friend who usually doesn't like the smell of some lamb cooking liked it. For the large plate we got the scallops on risotto and loved every bite. Finally we got the key lime pie dessert and loved it. Everything is awesome here from the ambiance, vibe, food, and service. Perfect!

And WHAT A MEAL. Explains why it's tough to get in! We arrived early for our reservation and were seated in the bar (which we like) rather than the main dining room. A little slow to start (perhaps we threw off their rhythm)...but went on for a great meal. Nice selection of reasonably priced and interesting wines by the glass. We started with the crab dip which is served with a lot of delicious focaccia. Truth is, that might have been enough...but we continued! She had the scallops, and I the swordfish. Both really outstanding. The swordfish in particular was impressive -- sizable and thick filet that was, nonetheless, not dry in the least. It's pricey. It's hard to get in to. And that's because it's really, really good. We'll be back for sure.

It was a Friday night two weeks before Christmas, but it was only 5:45pm so I feel like we got lucky. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. We ordered cocktails and embraced the tapas menu, ordering too many things to sample and share. We sadly had to leave some of it behind. Our waitress was a sweetheart and though the restaurant space was big and open, the warm wood and exposed brick inside made it feel welcoming and cozy. There was enough room between tables that we didn't feel crammed in and the table was big enough to hold all the delicious goodness. I felt like two top tables can sometimes barely hold your water glass and bread plate. We head to Charlotte pretty regularly for various things, and I would like to bring our teenage boys back sometime. I think they would really like the menu and style of the restaurant. Nice enough for a quick date night before and event, but casual enough that I feel like we could bring the teens and not have to "dress up".

I do think the interior sometimes feels a bit too "open-concept," if you know what I mean... ...but who cares?! The food is great! Of the stuff that stays on the menu, I really like: the chicken sandwich, the tandoori carrots, the mussels, and the pierogis. As for the current menu: I really like the watermelon caprese salad, scallops, and curry chicken tacos.

All of the dishes were great, but I highly recommend the Larry's buns (bao buns). Ordering a few shareables was a perfect way to explore the menu and try several things. We also ordered a cinnamon roll for dessert. Service was good and there are no complaints there either. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience.

The shrimp wrap, however, was disappointing. It had very little shrimp and seemed to rely heavily on overcooked bacon and an abundance of lettuce, which made it tough to chew and left it lacking balance. The menu offers unique flavors and creative combinations, but in this dish, there seemed to be more emphasis on presentation and concept than substance.

We tried the Love Potion ($14) and Golden Apricot ($14), and both were outstanding. We tried two appetizers - Burrata & Pears ($15) and Smoked salmon deviled eggs ($12). Both were really good, but the deviled eggs were truly exceptional. I loved that they added herbed cream cheese and smoked salmon to elevate their deviled eggs. For our entrees, we tried the Ahi tuna tataki ($16) and Hanger steak ($29). The tuna was thinly sliced, and served in a sauce mixed with horseradish. I wasn't a fan of the sweetish sauce, but the horseradish was a great addition. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly, but the sauce that they added on top of BOTH the steak and fries was a bit on the salty side. Regardless, my husband enjoyed this dish. Service was excellent. We didn't wait long for our dishes, and I appreciated that we could pay tableside via the Toast handheld device. Paloma is an excellent addition to Mooresville, and we can't wait to return!
