There is a shared parking lot for the adjacent businesses. I had no issues parking and the parking lot didn['t seem busy when I visited. Upon entry, there is an off-putting smell and something told me I should leave as it was weird and strong. I inquired about a builder gel manicure and the guy had his content on his phone blaring and the lady across the room stop working on a client to chime in. He showed me the list of services they offer and I had a seat. I had a pale pink on and wanted clear and he said he'd file it down so that it would e no issue. The station seemed cluttered and no effort applied to remove the debris from filing and the last person serviced. The builder gel seemed clumpy when he applied it and I expressed my concern that I didn't want my nails to appear thick and clumped. He reassured me he'd take care of it. When removing the previous gel where it had lifted, he didn't smooth it and it could be seen when he thought he was finished. I had asked that he not use the drill on my actual nail as it damages them and at that point, you'll have to cut your nails and start over. After he was yelling across the room to his coworker, she comes over to take a look and told me that she said the color would show through. I had no issues parking with the color but it looked like spider webs in the nail where he hadn't filed it flat enough before applying new gel. I really dislike when a person asks me something and then you get two people talking over me. I reminded them both that I heard them out completely and stated how I wanted to proceed and I wouldn't be up-charged because he doesn't take pride in his work. I keep referring to the guy as "him" because there was no warmth in this interaction at all and no names exchanged. She asked if I'd be ok with wearing a sheer color vice clear to avoid starting all over. He did one nail to allow me to see and I agreed. I cannot and will not visit this location or recommend them to others. This place came as a recommendation from the guy at European Wax Center who had his nails done here. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out but I paid and tipped and left quietly despite their hollow "See you next time" as I was leaving. Determined to not put out or receive bad vibes, I kept it ladylike and kept it moving. Plenty of areas for improvement but you first have to give a damn, him & her don't. read more

I just got my nails done on Tuesday! At a different shop and my nails were starting to chip already. *NAIL EMERGENCY!!!!* Yelped the closest shops to me and came across this shop. I came here to get my birthday nails. I entered excited because the gentleman had done such a great job last time. My excitement was immediately stolen. I asked for a full set the woman said go sit over there. Confused about where "over there" was I asked which seat to sit in. As she started my nails I noticed that she was paying her phone all of the attention and me none. Hopeful that things would change I just sat and waited. I asked for medium nails and she cut them short and didn't even ask what shape I wanted. As the appointment continued she was laser focused on the show she watched on her phone stopping several times to see what was going on. Annoyed but ready to go I just let her finish my nails and after I pay I tell her immediately how dissatisfied I was with the service and nails. Knowing that the policy states that if a customer is unhappy they will redo the nails for free I go home (5 mins) knowing that I can come back tomorrow and the guy who does a great job will be there. Instead I decide to go back tonight to let them know my intention to return tomorrow and the owner (the one who did my nails) is now saying no your nails are not ugly. She then brings in other customers and asks them to look at my nails and see if they are ugly. Everyone agrees that they are not only short but in fact ugly. At this point I just want to get the service I paid for or have them cut off. She then refuses to take them off nor fix them and accuses me of putting my hands in her face. At this point I call the police because I refuse to be accused of being the "angry black woman". The police come and agree with me that the nails are short and they cannot be snapped the way I like with them that short and that she should honor the policy listed. After her arguing with the officers about how she refuses to honor the policy she then says fine I'll take them off. The officers leave and I sit down to have them taken off and she said "no now I don't want to take them off". I ask the officers to return and they are confused as to why she is acting the way she is. Now she says she will give me a refund. I hand over my card for a refund and she then says now I have to cut them off. She gets another employee to do so and she is still walking around the shop with my card trying to figure out a refund. Anyone who gets a full set knows they should be soaked off. She gets her employee to aggressively CUT my nails off because she's upset. As if I would happily walk around with these ugly nails. The officer is asking the employee what is she doing and tells her to get the supplies to soak my nails to which she refuses and acts like she does not speak English. The owner was telling the employee to jaggedly cut my nails just to be rude. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I will never be back and I am looking to file legal action. read more

The lady that did my pedicure was great!! But my dipping powder experience left much to be desired. 1st no base powder, but I'm not the expert so I didn't say anything- 1st mistake 2nd at the end of application she used gel top coat- 2nd mistake because we all know that Hao doesn't use gel top coat! I got my nails done on Saturday April 30th. On Sunday May 1st my middle finger nail broke and I had to beg someone else to fix it. And now it's Wednesday and basically I need a new set! I should have paid attention to the reviews. I arrived at 9:30 and added my name and service requested to a list. Then they started pointing out who was next with no regard for the list. The customers were confused and started rearranging themselves based on how long they were waiting and the order they arrived. At 10:00 they asked what I was getting and apologized to me when I told them it was a pedicure. They took me to the pedi chairs where I soaked my feet for 40 minutes before someone acknowledged me again. It took her 5 minutes of starts and stops to confirm the type of pedicure I was getting...I asked her to reheat the water since it became cold while I was waiting. She finished at 11:15ish. Although there were people waiting, he took me immediately which is always a plus in my book. I thought I had seen it all and normally get gel which at other places is acrylic with a gel polish. Hao recommended dipping my nails which I had never seen or done before. I absolutely loved it. It was a little cheaper, is supposed to last longer, and the color is in the nail instead of on the nail so there should be no issues with chipping or peeling polish. Hao was amazing. Finally I have found a nice salon near to me. Beautiful and clean atmosphere. Friendly staff and an assorted amount of nail polish colors. It appears that this location uses a lot of the powder dip methods and have so many beautiful colors. I will give the powder nai dip a try on my next visit. As for this visit, I had a fill in and Vicky did the job well and I love it!! I am very picky of how my nails are done, I have endless horror stories of salon shops that paint my skin, make my acrylic clunky and huge, or uneven shape or sizes. So update, I went to this place last Tuesday it was pretty close to closing so I got my full-set and decided to wait to get my feet done. Well by Thursday one nail was cracked and by Friday it had broken as well as another one on the other hand. To say pissed is an understatement. I then go Saturday to have them fixed and get my feet done because I didn't want to go to two different places. Mistake. I arrived at the salon at about 2:30, I didn't leave until 4:45. The next day I had a crack in another nail and today, it broke off while I was trying to pick up my book bag not only that but my toes smudged from my socks yesterday, being Monday, which I don't even get seeing as though I got them done SATURDAY! The only logical explanation is that they're not putting enough acrylic or gel or whatever they're using because I'm losing all my real nails to their negligence. This is nuts. I've been getting my nails done for years and I keep them long. I've never had my nails break like this, EVER, especially from not doing anything strenuous. Just left this salon! I went in for a fill-in because the last nail salon butchered my nails. The nail technician Tina was very professional and did a very good job fixing what the other salon messed up. The salon closed at 7 pm but she stayed to make sure I was satisfied. I've had my share of nail salons in the area and I just noticed this place tucked away and wanted to try it. Definitely not the fanciest place by far as far as set up and decor. Not even cozy or a relaxing atmosphere. I went in for a basic pedicure and that's what I got! Toes were clipped, got a quick sugar scrub down, toes painted and dried. Nothing fancy or complicated about it. The employees spoke in their native language the whole time so you know what type of feeling you get from that. Was hard to understand her English when she did speak to me. Not sure what type of business they usually get there, as there was only one other lady getting a pedicure as well, this was around 4pm on a weekday. Great place to go for a pedicure. The staff here is friendly and very attentive. The massage chairs are very comfortable and didn't hurt your back during the message. Plus they offer complimentary tea, soda, juice or wine. I'm a karateka and train barefoot. So my lower legs and feet take a pounding. The young lady that did my pedicure was grea! Let me start by saying Helen does great work! Her nail dips are neat and last for weeks without chipping. The last few times I called to make an appointment with her, I was told they only accept walk-ins. This is clearly a new procedure because I've been able to make appointments in the past. On the one occasion when I walked in, the guy who sits next to her did my dip and it started chipping a week later. I told him he didn't put enough layers on the nail and he says no no it's fine, it's fine. He was wrong. If I can give this place a negative star, I would. So, before I went to H&K Nail & Spa, I read the reviews and it was a mix between some good and some not so good. Ok, arrived to the nail salon about five minutes after they opened today at 11 am and it was only two people there with five employees. Upon arrival, immediately one of the technicians began to work on my nails then proceeded to change the polish on my toes. While the toes is worked on my nails had acetone wrapped in aluminum foil to lift the old polish, ok. When the technician finished with my toes, he escorted me back to his station. Keep in mind, it is still only three of us there getting service. When I sat down, my hands was placed in a bowl of water , I guess to help lift the polish. As I am waiting, another lady walks in and request a pedicure but only wants the person that is working on mine. So, the manager tells her he can do it and she escorted back to the pedicure chairs to soak her feet. By now ten or fifteenth minutes for my nails soaking and he doesn't return. Next thing I see, the guy doing my nails goes and sit down to start the other person pedicure. So I ask the manager, "Who is going to continue my nails as he has left and went with someone else instead of finishing my nails?" Immediately, her and the husband start speaking in their native language and the husband stop with his customer and come to my table. Clearly, he is frustrated and angry. The husband sits down and start on my nails. Long story short, he does a rush job and I will not be returning. Lesson learned. Will not recommend to anyone. read more

I had my nails done today at H&K Nail Spa. It was not a great experience. The service that was attempted was for SNS dipping powder. I had nails on that needed to be soaked off. Usually the whole process takes about an hour for the whole process. To remove the old nails took an HOUR! I was there for 3 hours. He stated this had never happened before. (removing the old acrylic nails) They guy appeared to be a newbie. He stated he had been doing nails for 7 years. I wanted color tips, he had to redo them serveral times. He was constantly making the powder to think on my nails and had to redo them several times. Someone finally had to come and help him out. (another male) and he wasn't any better. The original tec did try and correct his mistake, but wasn't able to. He really should be doing another job! NOT NAILS. My nails were rough when finished not smooth, he half buffed them. My nails were was a HOT mess. I will never go back to this place and I advise that you NEVER go there either. Terrrible, I do not recommend and I will not be back! Run! Great nail salon. Not the typical type of salon I usually visit but I wanted to save money and time as this salon is closer to my home and priced slightly lower than my salon of nearly 4 years. Everyone was pleasant. I went in for a gel manicure,however, was offered the nugenisis powder instead which was fine as it was only a $5 difference and the nail technician noticed I likes my nails to remain strong during my two manis. My nails look good and seem like they'll last for a while. Very neat work. The technician did nick my index cuticle but no big deal. It's not too sore and there's no need to be dramatic. So we aren't going to talk about how long the waits are?!!! I know damn well everyone reviewing has had to wait up to 30 mins if not more, if you're a regular. Now they all do good work, they take their time (hence the wait) however THE WAIT is crazy. One issue is they only have 5 techs, 6 on a good day. With the volume of customers, (NOTE TO OWNER) they need to hire more techs. There isn't many good nail spots in Upper Marlboro, so now with this place becoming established, staffing needs to be increased. I waited over an hour, soaked for at least 45 mins after that ... to finally getting out of there 2 1/2 hours later. I will say when I tried to leave they jumped on my nails right away lol. The staff are all friendly and the work is good!! BUT they have to increase personnel or I'll go back to those big new sparkly salons with 20 techs lol.
