I'm gonna hafta disagree with some of the other Yelpers, and I'll chalk it up to a matter of taste. The Michigan Avenue H&M has a much better men's selection than any of the Manhattan stores. And H&M's medium slim-fit shirts are my favorite dress tops. read more

This was the mega H&M branch which I didn't discover until after I had spent time at the small State Street Store. This one was 2 blocks from my hotel so I came here twice in the last 48 hours. They had more selection than the State Street store. The only thing was as I was carrying around my items while walking around the rest of the store, somehow, I am convinced, that someone snagged a nice, on sale, wool pea coat I was thinking if purchasing from right under me. These sneaky Midwest shoppers! I'm still recovering from it and still like the store. Just be careful to watch your items. read more

I have therapy weekly on Michigan Avenue. I "reward myself" for all the great internal work I am doing by a bi-monthly visit to H & M. I love the colors, the styles and the price point. It's easy to shop there and find comfortable, fashion forward colorful clothing for under $50. Can't be beat! read more

Just love their European flair and prices. What I don't love is every time I shop there, I can hold everything I want to buy. Do they understand the word BAG. Couture versus H&M let me see, one designer pant or 10 designer pants, plus 10 tops, plus 4 toddler dresses. I find it simply exhausting a frustrating not to be able to carry everything I want. Worst service from a major department store. Waited in line for over 10 minutes to checkout. The "manager" Dustin attempted to direct us to other cashiers (having not been in the store ) by obnoxiously shouting vague directions. When I did check out Destiny did not say please or thank you to me as she had done with previous customers... perhaps it was because I questioned Dustin. Either way service was both rude and slow. As this was my first time at H&M, I am not impressed. read more

Frustration over h&m's store policies have brought me out of my hiatus. We received gifts for our children from some family out of state. The clothes were unfortunately too small. FYI you never by newborn clothes for a newborn unless they were a premie because they grow out of it by the time you unwrap the box. So we had over a dozen items that we thought we could just take to the store to return. NOPE. They were purchased online and can't be returned in the store. Wtf. This is the first store that I've encountered that won't allow you to do that. They gave us the customer service number, which we called and they said that online purchases can only be returned by the purchasing party. Wtf. So I should call my out of state family and say, "thanks for all the useless clothes, please return them. I'll pay for shipping to send them to you and you pay for shipping to return to the store." How embarrassing and inconvenient. The customer service person also let us know that we could only return online purchases at their Manhattan store. Oh yeah? Well, the next time I'm there... I'll remember that, f*ckers. HORRIBLE POLICY. The only thing good that comes out of this is the next kids to wear these clothes will get an amazing deal for new items as we'll be donating them to the Salvation Army. read more

I love H&M, just not this one. It's like a magnet for tourists and idiot teenagers. It's totally overrun with these people all the time. And the staff there is either just rude or too tired from dealing with said tourists and idiot teenagers to be helpful to anyone. That said, I avoid this place like the plague. I'd rather make the trip out to the burbs and go to the nice, organized H&M out there. read more

Ick- I hate this store. They have piles and piles of clothes and I don't like any of them. I really wanted to like it but I try to pick up something that I could make cute but it's such low quality that there's usually a button missing or a tear in it from someone else trying it on. read more

Love the store and the styles! Always a good place to get some cheap stuff, especially during sales - stuff gets dirt cheap then. But you also get what you pay for, nothing here lasts very long and falls apart or gets faded fairly fast. The only thing I've got from H&M that is still holding up is a pair of jeans, and I only wear them once in a while. read more

Whatever you do, don't go on a weekend unless you get there right when it opens. It is a madhouse and the lines are terrible if you go later. They have a good selection of trendy pieces...including fun jewelry and handbags. They have a better selection than the suburban locations and oddly enough, I have found the staff to be very helpful. This is one of my favorite stores for anything from dress shirts to sunglasses. If you are looking for a quick infusion of fashion to your wardrobe look no further (jk always look!) The only downfall to this multilevel step above Old Navy store is that if you have a back or arms bigger than than the mannequin or have legs like a soccer player you are gonna have a rough time ...stick to the accessories ;) Fall is the greatest time for it all! read more

I love h&m! They have cute fashion that ALMOST makes you think it's from the runway. The prices are in the affordable range although some of their special collections can get a bit pricey. They have a few pieces that are promotional to get you in the store like a $10 shirt or $15 dress but I always end up spending way more. But it's usually worth it cause the pieces are so cute :) read more

I don't always buy my clothes on sale, but when I do it's right here. I rather enjoy finding a clothing store that I can afford right along Michigan Ave. The space here has a good assortment of outfits. There are three floors which are connected by an escalator in the middle. While you will find some stuff for men a good majority is tailored to women. I also really find it convenient to see registers on each level so I'm not walking all over the place. It is true that there are a lot of tourists, but I am always able to find plenty of deals. I wish I would have found this place back when I was in college. read more

This H & M location maybe the largest in Chicago and have a great selection of clothes, but the staff is absolutely horrible. I will never go back to this H & M location because of the staff. I have waited in line for an hour to purchase and meanwhile there was only one cashier who was not only moving at a slow pace but holding up cute clothes for himself while ringing up customers. Another time, a friend of mine was being made fun of while she was trying on cloths by the dressing room attendant. The store is always a mess and nothing is in order. The check out lines are always long and expect an attitude from the staff. read more

The prices here are reasonable, but let me say that I for one hate the Magnificent Mile. So this review is more of a complaint about shopping in this area rather than the store itself. In order to get to the store you have to walk through a sea of slow moving people which can be very annoying. Additionally, this store doesn't have quite enough fitting rooms, which is annoying because the clothing at H&M is very form fitting which means you pretty much need to try on everything. Also I don't understand why everything Men's is on the 3rd floor except for Jeans which are on the second. Why not just move that section upstairs and the children's clothing on floor two. read more

I tried going into this store today to return an item, it was a few minutes before closing time but all I needed to do was return something. The whole process usually takes a few minutes. Anyway, the security officer at the door refused me entry even though the store was not closed yet and there were patrons in the store. What a horrible business practice! How are you guys allowed to refuse people to come in if your hours state you're open until 9pm?! read more

I enjoy shopping at H&M at home in Pittsburgh and was so excited to stop by this huge store when I was in Chicago! The store has 3 stories, and I wished that I had more than a few minutes to shop around. I was particularly enthralled by the baby section, which was nearly half of the 3rd floor. I've purchased baby H&M clothes for several of my friend's babies and they've absolutely loved the items. I didn't have any employee interactions, so I can't rate that experience. Too bad that I didn't have extra money, more time, and was willing to pay the steep Chicago sales tax or else I might've had a good shopping day! read more

I would definitely steer clear of this location on the weekends or evenings... the lines for the dressing room and checkout are horrendous!! Going during the week is awesome though, like everyone else has said, the clothes are fabulous and cheap! The accessories are awesome as well! read more
