H&M at this location holds lots of memories for me. I have enjoyed shopping here for years. If I purchase something on line and didn't like the item I could return it to this location. It's walking distance from my apartment. They used to recycle clothes and give you a percent off your purchase. There's nothing not to like about H&M. I went to 500 33 rd street H & M yesterday 2/26/26. returned saw men's plaid shirts $17.50 on Wednesday. Thursday came back , they were marked $5.00. At the register the cashier sad they are coming up as $15.00, I asked for a manager. The cashier was nice , I told him I would pay the $15.00 if the manager didn't approve. Manager said they didn't label clothing that way, I replied someone did. Thought he was incompetent. I will not go back to that store . read more

This location had great and affordable clothing items to select from. There were having a huge sale on Winter items and brought a blouse and sweater for dirt cheap. We get it, some of you hate your jobs!!! Jesus like retail isn't the most glamorous but keep ur ish together. I worked in retail and never actually complained about my job to my coworkers In front of people. You do that during your break or after work. I kept hearing whining about wanting to go home over and over from like three employees the whole time I was in the dressing room. I visited this location today because I was in need of jeans (I usually am a size 36/32 regular fit at Gap). I had found two pairs of straight fit jeans in my size and I tried them on and they fit me perfectly! I was so happy. I also was able to use my membership card (which is free to join btw). read more

NO OK. I worked retail for over 10+ years (yes I look young), and I would never ever have a line with 10+ people standing and one cashier. Are you kidding me?? this is insane. I came here around 6:30pm and its PACKED and only one cash register is even open on two floors. Children's line is usually less people when I come right out of the dressing room I go straight there (oppps told you my secret)... Anyways selection is always great. Shoes are scattered everywhere, but I know my H&M, but the manager(S) need to get it together. My favorite part was she was telling the people in line its moving fast and SHE wasn't even ringing. Clothes are well priced but staff is more interested in chatting with each other than helping customers at check out. It took 15 minutes to buy two items with two other customers in front of me. Management needs to step it up. With an H&M in Denver this is not nearly the deal it used to be. read more

About 5 years ago when this H & M opened, I could not have been more excited for this store to come to the UES. However, this particular location compared to most H&M stores is a nightmare. No matter the time of day, there will be an absurdly long line at the downstairs registers and no matter the length of these lines, all of the available cash registers upstairs will NOT open - normally only the kids' section ones. I don't understand why when there are people who work there just floating around not helping anyone you don't put them to work to get the lines moving? The sections at this particular location are constantly changing - they move the professional attire and swap it with festival one week and then the next it's on the opposite side of the store which makes it really hard to come in and find what you need, especially when asking to find something like a "black blazer," which should be an easy find for any employee, is a near-impossible task for ANYONE you ask. Additionally, the fitting rooms have a layer of straight dust balls on the floors that are honestly atrocious and probably some sort of health code violation. It's probably all over the store too, just swept up by the maxi dresses. read more

I SHOP here because: a) I actually like H&M clothes...sometimes. b) They normally have some pretty good sale finds to satisfy my bargain hunter needs. c) I pass by it literally everyday on my way home. Top 3 reasons why I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here: 3. WAY too many women being savages over the clothes. CHILL OUT. 2. Place is usually a HOT MESS, probably because of reason #3. 1. Every sales associate I've encountered is neither approachable or helpful. They are usually rudely screaming "EXCUSE ME?!!" with an unnecessary amount of attitude while trying to walk across the sometimes ridiculously long register lines, AND/OR they're folding and unfolding clothes to waste time. I do agree that I rather shop here than at the H&M locations in Herald Square but this one also sees it's fair share of tourists. More so now than before. I love H&M. They have some decently-priced item and some crazy expensive items. You just have to know where to look. A lot of their Conscious Collection items are inexpensive because they are made from re-purposed materials and some of the designer-partnered collections are pricey. Your best best is to look for the colorful signs that show the low-priced items and always hit up the clearance/sale rack. You are guaranteed to find something. Enjoy your shopping... read more

Does this store have a pre-req for employees to be rude and nasty? I was helped by a woman, not sure of her name, but will try to get it and post it here. She was tall, had several inch long neon nails and lots of gold jewelry on. She helped me with a return of an online purchase. This is the second time the same woman has helped me with a return. This is the second time she inspected each piece of clothing. The inspection took at least 2 minutes per item. First, she saw 4 single pieces (PIECES!!) of white hair and said that she could not take the item back because it was not in sell-able condition and then asked me if I had a pet. When I said no, she asked me what the white hair was. The white hair was from a sweater in the same order that I was also returning. When she saw the sweater, compared the white pieces of hair side by side, she accepted my answer. Next, she tried to tell me that I wore the clothing, even though the tags were attached and they were in obviously never worn condition. When I said absolutely not, she said okay, after pondering my answer for about another minute. When I handed her the receipt and my credit card she told me she couldn't do the return to my card because it was a different card number then the one I used to purchased the order. I let her know that the previous card had been stolen and this was the new card the bank gave me and that they linked to the same account. I provided her my ID, my credit card with my name matching my ID, and the email sent to me with my order information. All of this info was not sufficient to her and she would only give me store credit. When I asked to speak with the manager, the manager told me they would only put the money on my card if I had a letter from the bank saying that the old card had been stolen. She advised me to go to the bank, get the letter and come back. This was at 8pm at night when obviously no banks are open and I am not even sure would give me such a letter. This is all after I had waited in a 15 minute line, went through the inspection process from the cashier. What a disaster!!! I winded up taking the store credit and leaving. I actually was laughing when I left because that situation was that ridiculous. read more

First, I LOVE H&M!!!! And this is the H&M I always go to, so I know it well. It's not as big as the other ones, so it may not carry everything. It is also sometimes somewhat disorganized but in general it's a decent location. My favorite location is the one on 34th and the flagship store on 56th. This location is also near a MAC Cosmetics, Sephora, L'Occitane, and Shake Shack. All on the same block! Barnes and Noble is there too. Right around the corner is Urban Outfitters too. Whole Foods is up the block etc. So it is convenient. I've never met a salesperson here that wasn't nice. At the very least they offer a Hi! and a smile. And for the most part, they are always very helpful! The main issue is the long lines for both for registers and the fitting rooms. The registers always move very slow. It's not uncommon to be in that line for at least 20mins on average even if there is only a few people in front of you. On average I would say it's 20-30mins sometimes! But even then, the register people have always been so nice, so helpful, and patient too. Part of the issue is people have huge purchases and sometimes difficult returns. I think they should do a 10 items or less type of line. Or a bulk items line. So maybe the people with bigger purchases and/or returns can go in the slow line. They never seem to have enough fitting rooms open. It's often more likely than not that you will also wait 20-30mins to try something on. read more

I was so excited to have an H&M on the UES. Too bad that this H&M sucks. First, the size selection is pretty random. If you're not a size 0 or a size 10, you're out of luck for most of the clothing items at this H&M. Second, the lines for fitting rooms are ridiculous. On average, 10 people, 20 minute wait. This usually deters me from trying stuff on and thus buying it. Third, the cashiers are idiots. I bought four items, 3 with security tags. The Einstein who checked out my order didn't remove one tag. I took the items to another H&M downtown, and they couldn't remove the tags or accept the returned items. Why? Because the H&M on 86th uses different security tags that the other H&Ms couldn't remove with their tag removers. So now I get to go back to H&M AGAIN to have the tags removed, so maybe, just maybe, I can wear the clothes I bought. Thanks! read more

Fine produces given its low price and good for young people who don't want to spend too much on clothes but want to look somewhat a la mode. This store is very big and has extensive selections of man woman and kid clothes. The sales that are going on are also attractive - buy two get one free while a lot of items are half the price. HOWEVER, like all other H&M stores, the waiting line is CRAZY and super unpredictable which line is going to be the fastest one. It usually takes 10 minutes to get to the end of the line but sometimes it could take 15-20 minutes if the customer in front of you is dealing with return issue. H&M should really think about this issue seriously as it has persistently discouraged me from shopping there. Maybe they can do something like what a lot of other supermarkets are doing by having self check out kiosk, which can significantly decrease the waiting time. But before then, I'd rather not come here and waste 10-20 minutes of my life. read more

However, the fact that they will let a line of 100 people wrap around the store (like Justin Bieber is there) and refuse to open up more registers makes me protest this place. I have had clothes in my hand but left them more times than I can count because who has 1 hour to wait in line for a register?! Came in to this H&M location to return a pair of sweat pants which were $24.95 for a bigger size and saw that the price had gone down to more than 50% off, so I thought it would be ok exchange them for a bigger size and get another pair in another color and a tshirt in the equivalent of what I had spent in the smaller pair. The cashier that attended me by the name of "Johnny" told me that they don't do price adjustments which I didn't ask for cause I didn't think I needed a price adjustment, I was just doing an even exchange, and was still being charged a difference. I didn't feel it was fare so I asked to just have my money refunded which the cashier proceeded to do but just refunded me $9.00. When I pointed out his mistake he snapped at me and responded in a rude and very unprofessional manner and told me I should've just asked for a refund in the first place. When I tried to explain why I didn't ask for a refund in the first place this "gentleman" "Johnny" then snapped again and told me I needed to relax which I pretty much was. I've shopped at this store and at many of their other stores and never had an experience like this when trying to make an exchange. This is unacceptable behavior and hope something is done about. read more

This is one of the worse H&M locations in the city... unfortunately its also the one closest to me. -There's always, ALWAYS a ridiculously long line. Despite time of day or week, the line at the main register is absurd. There are two additional checkout centers upstairs but for some reason, they are rarely open. More than once, I have seen employees hanging around the store chatting with eachother or on their phones, when they could be much more useful opening up an additional register -There is also ALWAYS a long line at the dressing room. Similar to the checkout centers, the store consistently closes the additional dressing rooms in other sections. They do tend to open up the rooms when it gets super busy though, which is good thing. -The place is a mess, and multiple times I have taken something off a sale rack only to find it wasn't actually on sale. One cashier was nice enough to still give me the sale price, and reiterated the fact that the racks were a mess. -This location tends to offer an ABUNDANCE of sizes 0-4 and a huge lack of "larger" sizes. Personally, I think a more average size would range anywhere from 6-12, and H&M should stock up on these sizes as opposed to the smaller ones. Even the "larger" sizes are inconsistent with fit, typically run small and always make me leave feeling fat! All that being said, I return time and time again to H&M because you can't beat the price for the quality. I have $10 dresses from H&M that I bought five years ago and still wear regularly. read more

In addition it is alwaysssss crowded, guaranteed to always have a checkout line longer than the barricades despite there being at least 5 registers unused upstairs and downstairs and guaranteed to always have a dressing room line at least 5 people deep despite there are two dressing room locations. Merchandise - If you're looking for an accessory - like a large gold necklace or a cami, this is a good spot. Not a spot to go to if you're looking to completely redo your wardrobe. One woman just got off from work and simply wanted to do a return . If the store closes at 7 p.m , the store should close at 7 p.m . Waited in line for the change room for 30mins. Then an additional 45mins at the checkout line :( my husband was so furious waiting for me. I came at around 5.30pm. Next time I'll go earlier to avoid the long lines. The girls that were working in the change are the rudest and obnoxious people I have ever come across. Whilst in the change room, a customer must of left a few items in the change room, instead of taking it out. The female worker, then started yelling to everywhere that was in the change rooms 'listen up everybody, take your items with you, i am not your maid'. I was almost afraid to come out of my change room. Seriously, where does h&m find these people? Just plucking anyone off the streets?! Never returning to this alley way store. Worse customer service ever! So I went there to buy cute stuff for my baby girl and the cashier charged me twice for one of the items, of course, by mistake I understand. I noticed it before leave the store so I went back to the line, this time the next cashier available was a lady who I guess is the manager. She talked so rude to the cashier who made the mistake in front of me and everybody else, also, she was charging me $2.00 more because she didn't even check the receipt correctly and she stated that I owed that amount so when I clarify everything again she gave me the refund back on my card with a big attitude. This is actually one of the more calmer, not so hectic H&M locations I've been to. Clothes are regularly organized/re-racked right away. Slow lines (but totally dependent on the customers, not the staff). The size of the store is pretty big. However, their selection seems to be slightly different than other H&M locations I've been to for some reason. I like their extensive jewelry section, which is always a favorite of mine. I pretty much only come here to buy jewelry. The lines usually move at an acceptable pace, but I feel like it could be a lot faster if the cashiers didn't stop and talk to each other. read more

I admit the one at Herold Square by Macys has way more selection but this one is great for a stop in to get some cool clothes. I've been stressed out about work, and graduate admissions, and attempting to find an outfit this morning made me want to pull out my hair. Realizing I was probably not going to get the opportunity to do laundry before the weekend, I came here to try and find some cute tops to last me until Sunday. OH NO I GUESS THAT'S NOT HAPPENING. The selection here is crap. CRAP. Usually I can't walk out of an H&M without dropping $100. Not so here. I've been to this particular location once before and had a damn hard time finding an outfit for a party the next day, but I figured it was probably just the selection they carried at that particular time that I didn't care for.
