The woman with the glasses working at the front counter was the rudest and most judgmental person I've ever come across in my life. I really wanted to check out this cute little boutique I always pass by and admire the clothes in the window. This place is EXTREMELY overpriced. The quality of the clothing is so so at best. The real negative is the service. Really heavy sales pressure to buy - to the point of abusive. I had to tell the woman several times that, "no I don't like that" or "no, I don't want that, I don't care how 'adorable' it will look on my daughter." And trust me, I am no shrinking violet nor am I stingy when it come to my girls. The only item that didn't fall apart within 2 days were the leggings I purchased, which were very cute. Let me start by saying I did know before shopping here that many nyc stores buy from online stores and hike the price. Similar to what happened today when I bought a two piece set "on sale" it was online for $89 cheaper. If I had bought it full price I would have probably taken a star away *shrugs* the woman who helped me, Allison was very nice and was up selling me but that's her job so I went with it. I intentionally shop in stores near my apt to keep the neighborhood from caving in as MANY areas of nyc seem to be. The amount of empty store fronts is alarming. Anyone reading this who understands that needs to do the same. The inflation on the price that the stores do is called convenience!!!!! You get the piece right away and you can actually try it on so you do not have to deal with returns. It's a beautiful two piece that I bought so I don't mind paying a little more. The store was clean and in a nice area. If you're looking to get something cute definitely shop here. One last thing, I didn't not see any Childrens clothing anywhere as I saw mentioned in a few other reviews so call to ask about that if that's your focus. Let's of cuter bags, jewelry and scarfs tho. This place is ridiculously overpriced for the quality of what they carry and the sales people and owner are incredibly pushy and rude. The kids I babysit for begged to look around on a walk home from school and we were met with such an attitude from who I assume is the owner. One of "my kids" opened a little pouch and started taking the tissue paper out so she could see how much would fit in it and the owner immediately snapped at her saying, "unless you plan on purchasing, you can't do that" ...at which point she shot ME a dirty look and pointed at the pouch. I come here often. The only reason I and some of my friends come to Taroo is for Allison. She really knows my style- she goes the extra mile to reach out when new merchandise come in. This children's shop is nice for last-minute gifts, though it's a little overpriced. Not a big deal though as they often have "$25 or less" sales for most items in the store. Of the times I've been there, the service is okay - one time, the cashier just ignored me completely, but the other couple times I've been, a different lady was very welcoming and friendly. I also like that for just a few more bucks, they offer nice fancy gift wrapping with their signature black/white polka dot gift wrap and a pretty pink ribbon/bow (always stands out at parties). I live nearby and probably wouldn't go much if I were farther away, but it's a cute little shop with pretty dresses and adorable outfits for kids. Worth browsing through. read more

Terrible quality, rude saleswoman, and over priced. The saleswoman was extremely pushy. She was aggressive and angry at me for not purchasing more! I decided I didn't want to buy a dress because it was too short and she preceded to insult me and my taste in clothing. I purchased something to just get out of there.
