I just tried to return a dress I bought about a month. I do not have my receipt, I have my credit card that I purchased the dress with, but they want to give me $8 because the dress is on sale now. I went in to get a shirt for myself as well as a couple gifts. I was greeted when I walked in and proceeded to the mens section. The associate there didn't greet me even though he looked directly at me, however when I approached him for help he was a nice young man. He knew the men's section like the back of his hand and even helped me find matching pants for the shirt I got. When I was ready to buy he helped me out at the register. Surprisingly I always find something nice here and never have a bad experience. But today as I was checking out the cashier seemed to be in a rush for there being no line I wondered why. Long story short he didn't seem to care about the items and just tossed them in the bag as if they regular rags. Didn't bother to fold or place them nicely in a bad for me. This place is quite terrible both in merchandise and in customer service. Today I went in and was immediately drawn by the signs everywhere '30% extra off already reduced items'- such sales allow you to buy the poor quality items without feeling like you're wasting your money. I found several cute pieces- no size is ever consistent with this brand- and proceeded to check out. While at checkout, the very nice point of sales person, actually was not and was seemingly very annoyed by my question about the addition 30% off. She was visibly annoyed and her face shifted into what might be considered "stank face"- only way to convey her expression. Perhaps I asked an elementary question, but as it turned out it was only items with a sticker indicating the additional discount. This was not clearly indicated in the signs throughout the store. Beyond her terrible manners, the place is just, for lack of a better term, a dump. The messiest location; completely disorganized and unkempt. There's never a staff member in sight; that is not until you get to the register and they either ignore you or ignore you. There's a loud humming sound that buzzes consistently at the cash wrap; at least the last few years. The management staff has the worst attitudes. Meh. Just run in and run out quickly I say. It's December...full Christmas shopping mode...My sister was doing major shopping for her son. The team member, who we later found out was the manager, loudly stated how he was basically overworking there and that he wasn't helping that girl, my sister, carrying all those items. Are you serious? So unprofessional and unappreciative of patrons; we obviously were an inconvenience for spending too much. Just junk. I'm over the H&M craze. Topanga location is no better. I often appreciate the help I receive from H&M staff, but the experience I had today was not exactly what I am used to. My cashier could not seem to ring up my purchase correctly. She tried several times, and after about 10 tries, she finally got it right. When I gave her my cash to pay, she forgot to give me my change. She had to ask a manager to help her, but she could not seem to explain the situation -- which was to OPEN the register. The manager was walking away to get change. I had to tell the manager myself that I just needed my change. She proceeds to embarrass me in front of other customers, which was unnecessary. Very poor customer service from Grace. read more

Maybe it's just the styles right now that turned me off, but other than some plain cap-sleeved shirts, nothing interested me. This H&M seems smaller than the others I've been to, although it still had women's, men's, and kids' sections. Saturday at the mall is prime time for screeching children in strollers, maybe I forget that, but when your child is screeching bloody murder, please remove it from the premises immediately. read more

I love H&M it's one of my favorite stores in the Northridge Mall but my experience was a little different today. I was waiting in line to pay for one item, a pair of sweatpants. There was two lines of people waiting to purchase clothing and the people working the cash registers were only picking people from the first line while the other people in the second line which I was in were just watching the cashiers pick ONLY from the first line. The cashiers only picked one person from the second line and four people from the first. It was extremely annoying and frustrating seeing people pay for their things while the people in the second lone just others just wait there. I was waiting in line for 10 mins like really (It was not packed at all). Then after ten mins I was done waiting and went up to the next open cashier because I was not just going to wait ten more minutes in that ridiculous line. I payed for my sweatpants and two male cashiers were talking and not paying attention. After one of the male cashiers helped me pay for my sweatpants, he was holding my bag talking until he realized he forgot to give me my clothing I payed for ready in the H&M bag. This was so annoying and pissed me off. The cashiers needs to realize that there are two lines or they need to make one line if they aren't going to pick fairly from each line. They need to stop talking as well and do their jobs, some of the cashiers not all of them. This was my experience. read more

Horrible experience. Three people in the different cash register. Couldn't stop talking about heaven and earth and everything in between. While there's a huge line of customers. Went to the counter and while check out, found that the price were different. Asked the girl, Casana or something, not to scan it. She still did, and when we pointed that out, she told us we asked her to remove after everything was scanned, so she didn't see it.. it's OK. Ya, pay for cloths you're not going to buy, what's the big deal!!! No sorry, no nothing.. Just what ever! Well, H&M might think one customer is whatever. My wife was double assigned a dressing room. About 2-3 minutes into her undressing a man walks in on her and would not let her close the door and was staring at her in her undergarments. I rushed over after hearing her yelling. The man complains that his belongings are inside the room and she should not have gone into the dressing room. My wife was yelling from inside the stalls, advising the perve the booth is assigned to her and has a number hung on the door meaning its occupied. The man's number was not hung up. The attendant was practically 4 - 5 feet across in clear view and could hear my wife yelling at the guy barging into her stall. The belligerent man would not go away saying it is my wife's fault and the attendant was just staring at them even when I was telling the man to calm down and wait away from the stall door. My wife put her clothes on and opened the door pissed off and screamed at the guy. And he runs into the stall with her in it and grabs whatever clothing he was trying on. Total pervert and a moron. I complained to the manager on duty who was respectful and calm with my wife who is fuming. And I advised the manager that this all would be avoided with simple dressing room procedures like the attendants clearing the room. Another procedural failure is attendants putting numbers on the doors themselves and making sure no one is messing with the stalls. Another example of an issue with the dressing rooms is that they are not equipped with closet style locks, so anyone can walk in if it is not locked on the outside with a key. They should have knobs that lock behind the person going in so that this doesn't happen to anyone, especially women. Whether the man had the room or not first, the attendant should have made sure that if the doors were lockable from the outside, then they should be locked. Also, if the gentleman was leaving, and the attendant is counting garments, then how did he leave the area in the first place without anyone checking him if he has clothes and leaves the room. H & M Northridge seems to have a security issue if this is how the process works. Walk in, change to new clothes, and leave the old clothes in the dressing room. All the above are necessary procedures that either the employee on duty is untrained or may not be part of H & M standard operating procedures. If the above is H & M operating procedures for Northridge, then they need to ask why the process was not followed. The manager apologized to us and provided a 15% discount coupon for the trouble we went thru, and I thanked her for taking the time to listen to my complaint. But I still want to make sure that corporate knows about this issue and resolves it. read more

Came in to do an even exchange for my baby's clothes that fit too big on her, clothes was exchanged and as we were leaving I changed my mind about a cute item I saw for my baby so we went back to buy it. We had signed up for the H&M rewards because we hardly ever shop there and now want to because we like the baby clothes, my daughter is 1. So I go to pay, show the SA 843475 my 10% off as being a new member, she scans it, I hand her my $20. She takes her time examining the bill to see if it is a real $20 bill. When she's done she bags my item. As she hands me my receipt I have to ask her to please remove the security tag because she did not do it after taking the hanger off or before bagging the item. Really off putting. I don't want to play the race card but just FYI; She's white, I'm Hispanic my husband is with me is Hispanic he looked messy because he had just gotten off work installing windows and first thing we wanted to do was take care of our baby girls summer clothes. So yeah. Not sure I'll be coming back. We'll see how it goes. One star because the clothes is cute. read more

I never shopped much at H&M until this year and have started to buy some cute items. I do think a lot of their clothes is over priced for the quality. Much of their clothes is poor quality. This location I experienced the worst customer service and some of the dumbest workers. I originally purchased an item and paid cash but it did not fit my son so I returned it. Since I knew I was getting cash back, I asked twice to give the remaining change so I could get a $1 bill instead of a bunch of change. I was told by the cashier that they are NOT ALLOWED to take the remaining change to give a whole dollar amount and HAVE TO give the exact amount that is on the receipt. I explained that it would not make the drawer short and I'm giving the change to make a whole dollar. I asked TWICE before she closed her drawer and a supervisor (I assume) was standing at the register next to us. I asked him, so I am not allowed to give you the remaining change to get a whole dollar instead of more change. He said not if she closed the drawer and I told her, I asked her twice before she did. Both of them were RUDE and apparently incompetent to be able to count a dollar in change. This experience will now make me NEVER shop at any H&M again but the Northridge Mall location is the worst. It is also ALWAYS messy, unorganized, and very sloppy. Poor quality with poor customer service equals a customer lost for life. read more

I must say this location is one of my favorites! I am usually an online shopper to avoid the crowds and angry yelpers who only post horrible experiences, but this location keeps me coming in for more all the time. Very friendly staff everytime I pay them a visit , two gentlemen (one may have been a manager ) stopped what they were doing and assisted me right away, as soon as I walked in I felt right at home! Their was a really nice young lady in the dressing room I think her name was Natasha who made me and my daughters experience less stressful. Despite the controversy with H&M at the moment. The staff seemed very happy and excited and I must say this is a very diverse location. The store was very clean and organized, I was able to find all the exciting new merchandise online that my daughter wanted. I will keep coming back for more! I came to return a black skirt before the 30day return policy, but I closed my debit card that I paid for that skirt. I did not want store credit since my debit card is cash value and wanted my money back but the girl I spoke with said she will need proof of my account being closed to receive my money back. It was very inconvenient but I was being cooperative and did so. She signed my receipt that she will extend my return date for another month and suggested I come back to this same H&M location when I bring my proof. It wasn't quick and easy getting the proof of document from my bank but after a week it finally came in my mail. So I went back to the same location and a orange haired skinny pale lady was the manager that day and now says I can only get the store credit as their policy. I understand their strict rules but I was not informed of this on my first visit to return. I was able to receive a store credit wo a proof so I basically had to go through the trouble of getting the proof and drive back to still get a store credit. Am I making sense here? & this orange haired girl is not professional about it, no apologies or feeling bad in my circumstances they put me through. Just handed me my store credit with no other words and looked away. Of course I was dissapointed since they directed me in a circle but no reason for you to be in a manager position with a poor management ettique. So I visited this location today, drawn in by the sales advertised in the front of the store, after I looked through the sale racks I noticed a cute top I liked now there were about 7 pieces of this top all in the sale rack with a ticket sale price of 7 dollars now the size I wanted had no ticket price but all the others were $7 so I took it now when I went to the checkout the cashier noticed there was no price tag when she looked like she was having a hard time I told her it was on sale for 7 and that there were others with tags except my size . She asked me if I can please go bring one with the sale tag so I jumped out of the line and ran to get them , I brought 3 of them to show her and then she said on this is not the same shirt ! I was clearly confused it was the same exact shirts just different sizes , and she argued and told me " they aren't different seasons " and she kept repeating different seasons , like I was so confused and told me that only old seasons are in sale and I told her I don't get it it's the same exact shirt why I can't I have it the same price it's clearly on that sale rack , and I asked to speak to a manger and the manager said it's different seasons I can't do anything sorry , what upseted me the most was that they kept talking and using their term language like if I worked there , clearly I have no idea what's and old season from a new season I was clearly looking at 4 different shirts same print same color same everything , as a customer I would of liked them to honor the confusion but I was just brushed off and kept being told about the damn season .! I have a major love/hate relationship with this place. I find amazing deals every time I go, and I never leave empty handed. Even if I go in just to return something, I inevitably find more to buy. Who doesn't love H&M prices -- and most of the quality is amazing for what you pay (with a few exceptions). I shop here for my whole family. But this location is wayyyy overcrowded... from the merchandise, to the patrons. The store itself is jam packed, making it hard to find anything when there is no room to push a hanger across the rack. Be prepared to surface shop and just look for things that catch your eye... or spend days getting lost in their huge array of merchandise. Either way, allow ample time for lines. The lines for both the registers and the fitting rooms are always half way across the store. It *almost* makes it not worthwhile... but the prices keep me coming back every time. read more

H&M has horrible customer satisfaction!! So disappointed in them and the lack of trying to keep the customer satisfied. I went into the H&M at Northridge Mall and purchased a skirt for $24.99. They only had one skirt left in my size and this skirt had black marks on it (probably from falling on the floor). They said they can give me a 10% discount on it but then I can not return it so I'm basically taking a chance. I said okay at the time since it was the last one but when I got home and looked at H & M online, I see the same skirt for $12.99. What!? So H&M has different prices online then in-store. That seems pretty deceiving and unfair for the customers, their prices should be the same, right? So usually I would be able to return the skirt and then purchase it on-line or get a price match but they said I can not get a price match and I can not return the skirt since they gave me a discount on it. Seriously!! I thought at least give me store credit so I can purchase more clothes and you know I'm going to end up buying more than $24.99 worth of merchandise, so the store will end up making more money off of me/ However, to my surprise, they wouldn't even give me store credit! I'm sure $12.99 is not a big loss to the company but it is a big loss for me, someone who has 3 kids and limited income. I really can not believe that H&M was not willing to work with me in any way and make me suffer the loss. To top it off, the black stain on the skirt did not completely come off so even more of a loss for me. Furthermore, they had the edacity to say I can donate that skirt back to them and purchase the skirt online for $12.99!! seriously? Why would I do that? How about you keep your customers happy and satisfied and show your appreciation for us, the people who spend money at your store and keep you in business and make you rich. Unbelievable!! Well H&M I will be sure to let everyone on social media know how unfairly you treat your customers and let us know we do not matter to you and how incredible cheap you are for being a multi-million or billion dollar entity. I guess you loosing out on $12.99 is much more important to you then to have me coming back and shopping at your store. I'll be sure to also let me friends and family know not to shop at your stores. So disappointed!! Thanks for ruining my Labor Day weekend. Hope you're happy that you got to keep your $12.99 and make your customer take a loss--that's what probably keeps ya'll rich. Went there hoping to buy a bathingsuit for my daughter and a pair of jeans. Couldn't find the boyfriend jeans on the wall so I went over to the baby area, couldn't find the 6-12 mo suits either. Walked around the store for 5 min looking for an employee...no where to be found. Went to the cash register and asked, then stepped back waiting for someone to come out. 10 min later, still no one so went back up and asked and was told that they are all busy on conference calls. I found several items (9) that I pruchased but was extremely disappointed that I was only allowed 2 bags and no boxes. Most other stores offer boxes or at least a bag for each item. I brought this pair of skinny jeans on the h&m website and when I got them they did not fit because the size they were said to be was not the size they actually were, so I shipped them back and received the email that I would be completely refunded my money within 5-7 days. It has now been over 7 days and I have only received $10 back out of my $20, which I know doesn't seem like a big deal but I really wanted to buy the jeans in a bigger size and now I can't do that because I don't have the complete amount of money back that I originally spent. read more

As some others have said, this is a hit and miss type store. They do have great things for good prices if you can find them and in a size you want. They have really nice staff and some that are pretty non-committed to the customer. When I was looking at a sale rack, the rack on the other side fell down, scattering pieces all over the place, along with the clothing. I looked for a salesperson to tell, found her folding sweaters, and told her about the rack, and my concern someone might trip. I got an "OK thanks", and she went back to folding her sweaters. Only once was she done, did she go over and fix the rack (barely), then she went over to a coworker and started complaining about her hours at the store. I purchased a gift for a friend, went to the long line to pay. There is always a line. The person in front of me was returning something in an H&M bag, placed it on the counter during her transaction and walked away leaving the bag on the counter. I stepped up and bought my item. The cashier was very friendly, I got a great gift and a great price. Once I paid, she took the bag on the counter the previous customer left, placed my item in it and handed it to me. I am all for recycling but...come on. So, sometimes it is a good thing, others not. Hit and miss occasionally. read more
