This H&M store was a little different compared to other ones. The store felt slightly empty, as many shelves were left empty. There was only one staff member working as a cashier and organizer of some sort (in the bottom floor only), and a security guard. There were two floors in the store. A lot of the products had discounts up to 50%, which made me think that it could've been due to the mall being unusually empty and dying. Overall, I had a good experience here, and honestly, I don't know if this H&M location is still going to be open in the future. read more

Today, I visited the H&M location located in Bloomingdale's Plaza on Market St. I arrived at the doors of H&M exactly at 10:00am, when they are scheduled to open, to retrieve my two online pickup orders and be on my way. The young lady who unlocked the doors, opened one for me to enter - so very kind and humanistic of her. She greeted me with a smile and good morning. Once I entered the store, I asked her where do I go to pickup online orders. Instead of directing me, she asked what name is the pickup orders under, I provided it to her and she immediately directed someone to retrieve my orders. So greatly appreciated! She walked me to where the register was, asked the staff behind the register to process my pickup order that was in the process of being retrieved from the back. She informed me that the man behind the counter would assist me and with a smile she walked away. When my orders arrived, the man behind the counter began to process my orders. Without eye contact or even looking at me, he asked for the codes. I placed my phone on the counter, he processed the orders and said ok you're done then walked away. He was a darker haired man with glasses. His lack of human treatment, let alone customer service, was extremely distasteful to say the least. I understand opening procedures, if you are completing opening procedures while the store is open be prepared to be interrupted to do another part of your job - assist customers. To be made to feel like an inconvenience is not welcoming nor tactful in my opinion. read more

This store location is in downtown SF. However, the Stonestown store closed down several years now & was more convenient for me. This downtown H&M location store is nice, big & more spacious with a pretty wide variety of selections of clothing. During my travels to Europe 2003-2008 years I had visited the H&M stores in Amsterdam, London & Spain - impressive stores then. I learned that there were H&M stores opening up here in the USA. Overall, a great store to shop for price, value & style. I rarely shop downtown SF now, but I usually recommend family visitors to stop & shop there. read more

I was all ready to give this store a five-star review, then the bait and switch. So they have a rack marked 1099. I picked up a pair of shorts, tried them on, and took them to the check stand. With my 25% discount, these shorts were $13.50. turns out, that's the starting price on this rack. Notice the sign. They use 8-point font for the reference to select items starting at. It's so small it's almost impossible to see on the picture unless you zoom in. I would have bought the pants if the sign had said The highest price on the rack, $16. read more

This review is not store specific. I was looking to find a different size of a dress that is not available online. Customer service confirmed this. At the store where I saw it, I learned that it is available in downtown San Francisco. Although I live in the city, driving and parking downtown is a hassel and expensive and it would take 45 minutes to get there using public transportation.. Before taking off an afternoon from work, I'd like to verify the dress is available. Unfortunately, H&M does not list store phone numbers and their customer service does not give them out. In addition, as of today, H&M will no longer holding items. The policy is effective until next year. Charge-shipping does not exist. Obviously the company does not care at all about its customers and is completely disrespectful of their time.I'll be taking my business somewhere else. Located in Westfield Centre, this H&M has a huge/great selection of clothes for everyone. Kids, women, and men will be able to explore all the colors of the rainbow in a somewhat organized 2 floor store. I noticed that the kids/mens departments were organized and neat much more than the women's area. To be honest, I'm not surprised, and neither should anyone else. There were someone sales associates on the floor, but they were mostly putting items back on the selling floor. I asked where a certain top was, and the SA had no idea where it was. I came in today to shop for my husband and I gotta say this H&M men's store is pretty small compared to most. it was hard to find the sizes that I needed and it didn't help that the store was beyond messy. Also when I went to check out there was only one cashier, which made me want to just not purchase what I had picked out. I waited in line for about 10 minutes and I don't think I'll be doing that again. I love H&M, but this store doesn't quite do it for me. Though I always try to steal a visit here when I'm in this Westfield, I nearly always walk out of this store- empty-handed. This particular H&M location, though much less crowded than the one downtown, is also much more disappointing than the other locations. The selection is pretty slim, and maybe it's just H&M in general as of late, but everything, outside of clingly well fitted sweater dresses (I am addicted) is ill-shapen, and well....ugly here. Tent dresses and baggy shirt cuffs are not flattering to women. I just don't understand why H&M, which used to have very snug, curve hugging stuff, is trying to distort and hide the female figure. Between this one, the one on Powell, and the one of Post, this is my least favorite H&M. I think for men, it has the best selection. But the worst for women. The one on Powell is overpicked and super crowded-but they compensate by always bringing out more clothes to the floor. The one on Post is the quietest, but the most organized and has all the latest styles and trends. This one? I walked in the other day and they still had heavy overcoats and pants on display at the front. And no, it wasn't their 'clearance' rack. Have they forgotten what season it is? Maybe the lack of windows to the outside is making them forget. They don't have all the latest season's items on display-at least not up front. Their Coachella line was allll the way in the back behind the work-friendly button ups and trousers. Where are the bikinis? The shorts and tank tops? They are seriously lagging. This location popped my cherry! I know the one on Powell hit the city first but after hearing all the hoopla and the lines, and the hoards and hoards of people... I passed. We were checking out the Westfield a few months after its debut and I spied H&M after coming out of Bloomingdales clutching my purse and wallet and feeling so poor. I don't really look at clothes for myself much, it happens on an as need basis. But when it comes to the kids, I become a shopaholic. I can't resist clothes for the girls especially. So many options, dresses, pants, shirts, skirts, shoes, jackets.... AIYAH! And their clothes are so much cuter, now if some of them were in women's sizes, well hell then maybe my wardrobe could have some new friends. On this visit I got #2 a jean jacket, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 swing dresses, 2 plain tees, and a skirt/ pant combo... and I spent about $60! HELL YEAH! With the way she's growing there's no point in throwing down a ton of money on clothes for her. And she has become quite the fashionista at the age of 2. Oh boy! This all occured last year around this same time. With the exception of the shoes, she can still fit in everything. And everything is still in good shape. I never knew until I had a new child that H&M even had baby clothes. I walked in one day and it was like a big bright light let me there.. I had been in the store many times and had not even noticed this section. Now this is my go to store for my 2yrs olds clothes. They have such cute outfits, shoes, socks & pajamas.. The prices are reasonable and they are good quality.. I definitely recommend shopping here for the kiddos!! The customer service can use a little improvement. It's been a quick minute since I've been to H&M, but since we were in the city, my boyfriend and I decided to do some spring wardrobe shopping together! H&M at Westfield is interesting in the sense, it is two stories, one level is primarily for women (the second level) and the first is for men. When looking for a good pair of jeans, we went downstairs to the men's section and there was a lot to look through, but the pricing range was pretty big with no explanation of why. (Price point difference of $29 to $180) After looking through stacks my boyfriend decided on a couple pairs to try on- and chose his favorite of the two. It was a very mild and calm day, so there wasn't a line. The displays looked nearly untouched which- I'll give it that much considering most H&Ms I've been to have been messy or 'looked through' to the point of feeling like the entire store was on sale. The women's options weren't as eye catching, so I didn't put too much time into it. Overall, the location was easy to find, perfectly placed, and a smooth transaction. The SF location didn't boast new clothes I haven't seen, but it seemed like they had a lot of last season's wear that was on sale. read more

DISCRIMINATION | RACISM . I was here yesterday shopping for some pants and a jacket for my trip to LA this coming Friday . I was here with my two friends (light hispanics) and I AA/Mexican. While in the mens back area I was trying on 2 yellow jackets for sizing . A man with a hat on is continuously staring directly at us. I discovered H&M in Paris, then they built one in DC right by work, and then I moved to San Diego and I was H&M less for 2 years, so YEAH for H&M in SF. First things first, it's a cluster f***. This most recent excursion netted me a very nice chunky cable knit scarf priced right at $14.99. In addition, when I'm seeking lighter items, such as a rayon off the shoulder blouse or a slim pencil skirt, H&M delivers in terms of trendy and affordable. I usually save the nicer skirts (worsted wool and with lining) at Banana Republic. This store is slightly smaller than the larger one up on near Macy's but I do appreciate the ease of wandering for the window shopper. I'm usually in/out within 20 minutes or so. Checkout is usually quick and then I'm off to the other stores in the mall, usually the Borders up the escalator. In regards to hand held devices, just keep it traditional without the touch screen. If there is no mutual benefit in bringing it to bed, leave it on the frickin' counter. read more

Just some things you should know about this H&M and H&M in general (from an inside source): *There is no Divided or Mens here (get over it, there's both in the Powell store) *H&M does not use sweatshop practices *The sales associates work on a European model. Translated as: they will and can be friendly to you but they cannot provide a certain level of customer service. Listen, you are paying $5-15 for a shirt and there is lots of turnover. Because of the prices, lots of people are in the store which means lots of items mishandled, dropped, or tried on by customers. The sales people are directed to clean up garmets, get merch back on the floor, and get you rung up reasonably quickly. So don't bitch if you do not get personal shopper service or ask the salespeople to go and get sizes for you. It's not going to happen. Nature of the beast. You want that kind of service go to a department store and pay those prices. You want to pay dirt-cheap prices for trendy clothes, you don't get personalized service. Capiche? read more
