I went yesterday to get my taxes done here. The person I was assigned to was very nice, but truly did not understand my taxes. I had dropped all my documents off the day before so that she would have time to review. She did not understand most of it. I had moved from NJ to WA last April, so I tried to be understanding. I did get concerned when she had to consult another preparer, but tried to understand. The best part was first the charges for doing my return, $510. When I questioned their charges, I was handed a paper with about five additional charges from their posted fee. Unbelievable. Then I was offered an additional service, for an additional $40, that they would stand behind my filing. I questioned this and the manager came over to actually read the screen to me so that I would have all my questions answered. Offensive, reading a screen that I can read very well on my own. They were telling me that I am only partially covered by HR Block, but for the additional $40, I would be fully covered. I was totally unimpressed with the Manager, and if I had met her first, I would not have gone to this office. Very professional, polite, and helpful staff. There were I believe three tax preparers on site and one of them named Kathy did a terrific job preparing my complicated tax return in about 1.5 hours. If she had questions that I do not know how to answer, she would ask her colleague, named Janice for help. I believe it is best to make an appointment before coming in so you can get a spot although walk ins are welcome. Be prepared to bring your picture IS, w-2s, form 1099-Int, schedule 1045 K-1 forms, and others if needed. Also, be sure you know social security numbers of those in the tax return, otherwise bring in your previous year tax return especially if it is your very first time coming in! Highly recommended. I originally brought in all our documents for them to do our taxes. After being told what the amount was that was getting refunded to us, it didn't sound right. I went through the HR Block software on my own to self-file, and the staff here missed the fact that I'm due $1400 from the stimulus payments last year. And then when I decided to pay for the Tax Pro Review which was 1/3 of the fees they quoted me at this location, the person we were paired up with not only confirmed my numbers but also found us an additional $650 in savings. Ridiculous that this location almost cost me $2000 in additional tax credit and wanted to charge $225 for their services. Will never try coming here again. I'd recommend people to go through the software and pay for the Tax Pro Review if you need the extra help or just want the extra layer of confidence that everything is right versus coming in person to this location. read more

Went in on Saturday, March 6th, because we saw a national ad on T.V. for H&R to save 25% on last years' tax preparation if you came in by March 7th. We were there for 75 minutes, and didn't have "everything needed" to complete forms. Made next available appointment for Wed 10th. Then had to get receipts from credit card invoices. Called back and told we didn't give agent the amount from last years' preparation. Agent not in, left msg, and made appt for Saturday the 13th. When we got there, the agent said the manager said the district manager said they would NOT give us 25% off because it was too late, as we did not tell anyone on the 6th on March.......BUT.....we had ALL the info w/us, had last years' file out, and on the desk for 75 minutes, were never asked about the file, and we left a msg with a man that Wednesday night. ' NOT RIGHT ? ? ? CORRECT.........DISHONEST ? RIGHT ! ! ' Not Honorable ! ! ! Was put off ! ! Ridiculous ! ! ' We were (ARE) fuming ! ! ' We did our part. Did they do their part ? ? ? WE THINK NOT ! ! ' Since last Saturday, we have seen a national T.V. ad by these same people (H&R BULL)that stated the last day will be March 28 ! ! But no office will honor that either, saying it was misleading, and that the national parent company pulled the ad because it is now the busy season !?!???? I went there for my taxes two years ago and was charged $230 for something I could have done on my own online. Definitely a waste of money unless you have complex taxes. Not to mention, I keep getting phone calls from the lady who did my taxes. I called back and asked to not be bothered anymore but apparently they don't listen. I went to H&R Block in Twin Lakes to begin this arduous journey. They charged significantly more than I have paid in decades. I told the woman who prepared my tax report that I would not return due to their charges. I asked for an itemized list of how they came to that amount. She said they don't itemize. How strange. I left and reflected how a business could determine the charge if it isn't itemized. I then called back and asked to speak to the manager. She had the same song and dance. She finally acquiesced and said she would send me the info. Days went by so I once again called the manager to find out what happened to the info that she declared she would send. That office had closed for the season. I was routed to another office on Pac Hiway. I tried to explain the circumstances for the call and asked him to send the info I was supposed to receive. He said they don't send anything in the mail. Really....I paid hundreds of dollars and this office refused to send me info. This call ended with CHARLES telling me that he had spent too much time on the phone with me and hung up! Good customer service. I have tried to call corporate and it is near impossible. I finally reached someone who listened and said someone would get back to me. She also gave me another phone number for someone to help me. They had routed me to another local H&R Office who really couldn't help. I have since received the info in the mail that listed the forms I used for my taxes with no itemization of the cost. This is so frustrating to not be given basic info. I did get a call from the second office from the manager who attached numbers to everything. There was even a charge for the worksheet. This manager said that I needed to stop overtalking or she would end the call. I actually felt she was talking over the top of me. I just said ok....and hung up. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR ENERGY WITH THIS INEFFICIENT, UNPROFESSIONAL, OVER PRICED COMPANY.
