Fun, Family and Friends at our Famous H-B Saloon in Oakdale!! Bo is an Awesome bartender

ALWAYS friendly. I don't see how Bo (bartender etc.) puts up with all the inebriated (by the end of a night) customers. He and Emily are so patient and are ALWAYS there to treat each patron like a continuous friend. Oh and BTW; the food from the kitchen is AWESOME

We just had dinner here for the first time. (Had their catering and lunch several times. Been here to drink MANY times.) I was extremely pleased with my ribeye dinner. It was soft as butter, super tasty and cooked to perfection. I can't explain just how perfect the flavor of the steak was. It was everything you want from a quality dinner. My husband was shocked by the price. The meal we had should've cost us $80 but instead was just about $55 with tip. Soup, salad, two sides and the most amazing steak you will eat for just $20. Side note the homemade soup and mashed potatoes were just as good. This is a place we need to visit for dinner more often.

    Looks ordinary. Tastes extraordinary.

First of all I didn't order an alcoholic drink. I was visiting the "Cowboy Museum" next door and wanted to get something to eat. Why five stars? I had the best hamburger I have ever eaten - and I have eaten many. They are char-broiled but unlike anything I have eaten before. They make everything from scratch. The onion soup was about as good as it gets. Only problem is that the more you eat the more you want to eat. Great food. Service was good as well. I met the owner and the chef. Both became instant friends. I spent a lot of time with the chef. A man of worldly travels. Originally from England and has been in other places in Europe. I have been coming to Oakdale for six years and it took a visit to the nearby Cowboy Museum to find and enjoy this place. Oakdale has a lot of interesting history, and has regularly scheduled events throughout the year. I highly recommend having a meal here. My only regret is that I have missed out on having my past meals here. That won't happen again. I found their prices well in line. Be advised - cash only. I plan to visit at every opportunity. Being close to my new best motel "Holiday Inn Express of Oakdale", drinking isn't a problem, as I can walk back to my room. Next trip, less Yelping and more eating and drinking.

Helloooo Cowboy Central! Came here for a beverage cause this is the place to go in Oakdale. The walls are covered in cowboy memorabilia (I guess the owners son is a pretty famous Oakdale bull rider). Everyone knows everyone here, I'm sure I stood out like a sore thumb, but everyone was very friendly nonetheless. This bar is like any other country bar in the sense that it was full of cowboys, cowgirls and like another reviewer said oozes with honkey-tonk. In fact there was a rodeo in town and this is where everyone came afterward, spurs and all!

    Fun with friends. ..

No one knows that brucetta is toasted crostini FIRST then place the tomato/garlic on top!! The died ravioli was so dry tasting bland. Chicken picatta had zero flavor and side veggies were hard as a rock. Rick shrimp pasta was super bland as well. We stated it was a birthday celebration and he acknowledged it upon greeting us but didnt do one damn thing when we ordered the bread pudding! We were seated wayyyyyyyyyyyyy in some back room by a busy walkway that people kept going through. The helper servers come by wayyyy too often to fill water which was very annoying- here's a thought- leave the pitcher or get bigger water glasses!! The helpier that picks up dirty dishes came by and wanted the dirties the second we were done (and sometime before we were done)! He even disturbed the waiter as he was talking to us about our next order and asked the waiter to pass him one of the dirty app dishes!!! So basically, the chef needs to hade others taste his dishes to see they need more seasoning and the wait staff and their helpers need to read the room....not bother the waiters when they're speaking, leave pitcher of water if they see us drinking it too fast for them to keep up! And for gods sake, when people say they're celebrating something, acknowledge it!!! We spent over $200 on a mediocre experience and didn't even get a flipping bday candle!! No desire to return.

We were greeted and seated within minutes, even on a busy Thursday night -- the kind of prompt, attentive service that's increasingly rare these days. This was our fourth visit, and every single one has been a five-star experience. Our server, Dusty, was outstanding. This was the second time we've had him, and he remembered us from our previous visit--including what we ordered. That level of attention to detail and genuine hospitality is rare. He was friendly, professional, attentive without hovering, and truly helped make our anniversary dinner memorable. Dusty is one of the best servers we've had anywhere. The food was exceptional from start to finish. The medium-rare filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was one of the best steaks we've had. The garlic mashed potatoes were absolutely phenomenal, the loaded baked potato was excellent, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly prepared. One of the most thoughtful touches came from the chef. Since we brought a bottle of our own wine, they served a bread basket with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and beautifully wrote a special anniversary message in the balsamic. It was a small detail that made the evening feel even more personal. To finish the night, we enjoyed dessert out on the terrace by the fire table overlooking the beautiful view. The tiramisu-style dessert was outstanding, and the "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate was another thoughtful touch that made the evening feel truly special. We also want to recognize Mary, the manager. She took the time to come by our table, introduce herself, and personally wish us a happy anniversary. It's obvious she's doing an outstanding job leading her team because every visit has been consistently excellent. We also appreciate The Perch's dress code. It helps create an upscale, classy atmosphere that makes dining there feel like a special occasion every time. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience in Amador County, The Perch delivers. Outstanding food, impeccable service, thoughtful attention to detail, and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. Congratulations to Mary, Dusty, the chef, and the entire team. We'll absolutely be back for visit number five.

I am extremely disappointed with the service we experienced on Tuesday evening around 6:30 pm. My husband and I were the first customers to arrive, yet we still had to wait about five minutes to be seated while the manager was sitting near the entrance. The server/bartender also appeared to be on break, sitting with the manager at the time doing paperwork. We placed our order promptly and received our drinks quickly. Shortly after, three other tables were seated and also placed their orders. Since we were the first guests and the restaurant was not busy, we naturally expected our food to arrive in a timely manner. To our surprise, every table that arrived after us was served their meals while we continued to wait. We politely asked about our appetizer and were told the server would check on it. After another 15 minutes passed, there was still no update, apology, or explanation. In total, we waited 45 minutes with no appetizer, no food, and not even a check-back to see if we needed drink refills. We felt completely overlooked. Eventually, we got up and went to the server to close out our tab. Once again, there was no explanation and no attempt to resolve the situation. We were simply charged for our drinks and left, deciding to dine at another restaurant few doors down. We were really hoping this would become a cute go-to spot for a nice meal since the menu looked very appealing. Unfortunately, the lack of basic customer service and communication made for a very frustrating experience. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their service.
