This is my favorite restaurant in Oakdale. The food and service is excellent. I order out a lot and have never been disappointed with my meals. Prime rib is a winner every time and their clam chowder is excellent. The staff is always cheerful and accomodating . They also have some pretty good drinks coming out of the bar. My only complaint is they don't stay open past 9:00 but most of Oakdale keeps the same hours of operation closing early evenings. read more

Went to Cahoots first and wait was 30-40 minutes for breakfast No thanks. Never eaten at Ryderz so decided to try. zero wait time on Saturday. Ordered a veggie scramble w/country potatoes and chose the pancakes for bread. This was a lot of food. ended up splitting with my daughter. the potatoes seemed old and very salty:( my server promptly replaced them with fresh fried ones. They were good. pancakes were fluffy. The servers were nice and the food came out quick enough but all 4 of us had omelettes and they were a little off. They tasted good but I'm used to fluffy egg omelettes with the filling inside. Went here with a friend a couple months ago just haven't had time to write a review. I had the hamburger steak and eggs breakfast. It was a great meal. The service was phenomenal, even though they were short staffed. They definitely were attentive to the customers. Making sure we had everything that we needed very clean inside very well put together and taken care of. You can really tell that they take a lot pride in their facility. I definitely would recommend coming in here and my daughter and my dad went for dinner. Both had hamburgers. They are huge and delicious. Very juicy very well put together. My grandma wanted pancakes so she got them. Came here for the first time to pick up her pancakes. I decided to order chicken fried steak. I felt like you can't go wrong with that. My dinner came with a soup or salad. I chose the salad. My grandmas pancakes came with bacon or sausage and eggs. Lady who took my order was very sweet. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my order. When my food came the nice lady that was helping me put lots of napkins in my bag , butter, syrup, & different types of dressing for my salad. Even asked if I needed utensils. Ryderz Restaurant is located in the motel 6 parking lot. It's an older restaurant. Dark inside and has booths you can sit at or you can eat at the counter. Very country like. So I really thought my food was going to be good. My grandma liked her pancakes. She said she didn't love them but she liked. I unfortunately did not care for my meal at all. Chicken fried steak had some stringy pieces in it that grossed me out. I did not care for the breading. And the potatoes did not taste like real mashed potatoes. They tasted like they came from a box. The gravy was too thick . To me my meal tasted like old school cafeteria food. I ended up not eating it. The salad that came with it was good! First things first, I frequent Ryderz and love the food! But had recent experience with a waitress named Kitty. Seemed nice enough until my order arrived and I found the meal wasn't cooked as requested and never saw my iced tea. Kitty Im told is Management but seemed as if she was bothered by waiting on our table and didn't listen yo anything we said. Amazing food, very attentive service, warm cozy atmosphere. HUGE portions for super budget friendly prices. Always get their Teriyaki Mushroom burger with garlic fries. Have had a few of their breakfast plates as well, huggeee sized plates again. I either eat everything or take some home for later but I never leave any behind because it's so good. The food here never disappoints. I stopped in on a cold evening for a warm bowl of soup. The restaurant was warm and cozy and had quite a few soup choices. I chose the loaded baked potato and got talked into a half BLT with it. Both were excellent. Service is always great here but I have to say Virginia really goes above and beyond. On Friday 5/9/25 My friend and I worked all day and was looking forward to going to eat dinner. The waitress came over and took our order and never came back to our table again. the bus boy came by and gave us a drink refill. We waited almost an hour for our food until we finally flagged down the bus boy, and then the waitress comes over and tells us that our tag had been eaten, and she will have to put our order in again. this was very disappointing and upsetting. not once Did the waitress come and check on us and let us know. Ah, Ryder's--where dining is more of a survival challenge than an experience. The steak I ordered arrived smelling like it had spent a week in the back of a truck under the hot sun. I'm not sure if it was aged beef or just plain spoiled. To add to the fun, I took a bite of my omelet and noticed a few flies crawling out from underneath it, like they were in a race to escape. Disgusting. The food? Terrible. The service? Even worse. And the atmosphere? Think of a dive bar, but with less charm. We were out for a drive on Memorial Day and had planned to eat in Coulterville, but everywhere was closed for the holiday. We ended up in Oakdale, and found Ryderz. I thought the food was going to be similar to a Denny's, but it was not. The decor is totally western, which is appropriate for the "Cowboy Capital of the World". Check out their website - one of the best I've seen! They serve breakfast all day, too! The service was really good and the waitress recommended the ribs, which, lucky for me, the chef had decided to make on this day (usually they are only available on certain nights.) They were fall off the bone delicious! The food portions were HUGE! We had the potato skins, which were so good. My son had the Ryderz Classic Burger which he said was really good, too. He also got a side salad which was really large! The amount of food we got was so much, if you're not a big eater, you might want to share a meal. The service was phenomenal. The 2 ladies working were amazing. However I ordered the rib eye steak medium well. The first time it came out, it was well well too well to cut through it and the steak was 25% fat so that needed to cut out and inedible. The wait staff took it back and asked the cook to prepare a new steak medium well. He then prepared a steak that was rare. Seared on each side but as soon as you cut it! Blood was everywhere and raw meat is not easy to cut. Now im asking the wait staff to give me a takeout tray to cook it in the microwave in the hotel. Thank God the salad was amazing and the wait staff was great or I would have eaten nothing sufficient. I paid my bill and I tipped the staff. It's not their fault the cook didn't like to follow the ticket. I was visiting the area and therefore will try another local place for dinner. read more

Went to Ryder's the other day thought we'd give it another chance, but it was just as bad as it was the time before. I can't stand that place. The vibe is so bad and the waitress that we had had more excuses than a you can imagine It was not a good experience And their clam chowder is so hideous that you can't believe it. I think they definitely lack in the customer service department, the waitress was not very nice. The portions are huge! The price is reasonable. They have a bar connect to the restaurant, so if that's your thing look no further. They also have a banquet room you can rent out upstairs. My initial impressions were not good. The interior was a little grubby, with slightly kitschy Western décor. It appears to be the house restaurant for the Motel 6, and with all due respect to Motel 6, that does not exactly scream fine dining. But you know what, it is pretty real deal diner food, done right. I enjoyed my Mexican omelet and the crunchy country potatoes were definitely the star. My whole family liked what they ordered. Prices were pretty reasonable. As for the all the negative reviews for the service, we were there at a slow time, when it's easy to do things right. But have to say, everyone was friendly and attentive, so I have no complaints. We always pass by here when driving through Oakdale and decided to stop when we saw a big sign outside the restaurant for their prime rib dinner. It was a Saturday afternoon and not busy at all. They came and took our order pretty fast and repeatedly checked in on us throughout the whole experience. Friendly, too. Our steaks came out the way we requested them and the portions were big. There was flavor but it wasn't anything spectacular. Still good though. The restaurant itself and its bathroom were clean. That's always a big plus. I'd go back. read more

Food came out hot and pretty fresh, just didn't expect it to be smaller portions. The food was ok. The service so so. Don't think we will come back , it just didn't pop like it used too. In the bathroom, if you look at light fixture on wall, there are flies... they are live and dead, but pretty much on each end. Hasn't been cleaned for a long time.
