You can tell the bartenders take pride in their craft, and even though the place was packed, they were pumping out drinks fast without sacrificing quality. The vibe is what sealed it for me. The DJ was spinning all the Millennial throwbacks, and the whole crowd was into it. Visited after a show at Gallo. On this day they seemed to have an event going on so we were at their bar on the side. There was a couple small setting areas in bar and consequently it was VERY busy. With that in mind, I think the bar staff was doing its best having to serve the party going on and also everyone at the bar. While it was a long wait, the drinks were well made and they have a variety of options. The vibe was really enjoyable and is definitely one of the good bars in Modesto which definitely needs more. Was there Saturday April 4th for my preparty cocktail drinks before dinner. Must say the happy hour menu for drinks reminds me of college days especially the beers. Natural light, colt 45, Mickey's to name a few. Mixed drinks were on point. Ended up ordering 4 old fashions. Bartender was excellent! Recommended some bomb as tequila Anejo which went down smooth! The ramen was not good but the little pot sticker type things were very good and so was the latte with brown sugar. I loved the vibe of the place... cute decor and they host poetry Slam nights with backup music. There were some very talented writers and I would definitely go back for the coffee and entertainment. Lo-fi has just expanded into the restaurant business, and brings a fresh setting to Modesto. The new vibe is much more impressive than I was expecting. For having just opened, there were no hiccups. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised through my entire dining experience. Cocktails were already great, and now they're complimented by a confident menu and a competent waitstaff. I was really disappointed with this place. Vibes inside and cozy couches were cool but terrible service. The bartender wanted nothing to do with us, almost like we were an inconvenience. She sat at the bar like a customer while we sat with empty drinks wanting to order another round. I asked for recommendations on drinks and she wasn't any help. She kind of described the drink I was ordering but forgot to mention it tasted like pure licorice, yuck. The drinks my wife and her friend ordered were weak. They did come by with water which was nice. The vibe was off though. My wife and her friend felt we were not welcome. My wife's veggie omelette was fluffy and full of flavor. I had an Americano that was exactly to taste and they served my wife a specialty coffee, after actually listened to her specific request, serving her a drink that left her pleased! I won't lie that when I first checked out this bar the customer service was a little dry; however, they must have learned from the constructive criticism of other reviews as it has improved from then till now. I've probably been to the bar a total of 8-10 times, and every time I've come it's been a fun filled night. The drinks are exotically unique and every different drink I've had the chance to try leaves me with a tasteful impression. The atmosphere in the bar is also very cozy. I also love how well informed Shawna (owner) and the rest of the staff are. Their craftsmanship in cocktail making is a true passion as I can tell based off two cocktails classes I've taken so far. The classes themselves were extremely fun. I'd also like to point out that Roni's customer service has been very attentive moving forward. Very reminiscent of the bar scene in my old neighborhood in SF- love it! The cocktail menu is intriguing, but the bartenders are also happy to put their mixology skills to the test and create a drink for you on the spot if requested. The drink created for me was so delicious I had 2, and my non-vodka drinking friend also loved it. Some drinks are served in very cool cups- my friend had hers in a mini recycling bin which was kind of funny. They play movies on a projector and have a DJ later in the evening on the weekend.
