We came for our 26th wedding anniversary and were so happy we did! Service was excellent and attentive, and really celebrated our anniversary with us. We started with the pork belly appetizer (no pic) and had the dry aged rib eye and wagyu flank steak. Very good. There are several places to dine and we were sort of tucked away near the wine- private but not secluded. The lighting was enough to read your menu but not enough to feel like you have a spotlight on. Noise level was good for conversation. We can't wait to go back for our next special occasion dinner, or maybe just a date night. read more

My hubby and I dined here on Valentines Day and it was a wonderful experience! Service was impeccable and the food was delicious! I love the herbed focaccia that they bring to you as you wait for your meal. It's pillowy soft with a tender crumb. My hubby had the ribeye steak and as he was enjoying it, he said that he was having a "What About Bob" moment. (Great movie!) I had the seared sea bass and it was cooked to perfection! Tender and flaky, and it combined so well with the herbed risotto. They gave me some roses, which was a very sweet gesture. If you loved Redwood Cafe, you'll still love Reata! They have created a cool ambience that's moody with lots of wood to soften things up. With the same menu items you love and cocktail menu with your favorites, you'll be happy you came here. They were super busy on a Saturday night, but we were able to grab a bar table. Food was bland. Prices are atrocious. Space is cold (not burrr cold, just not cozy). Service was mediocre. Our waiter kept forgetting our orders. Bruschetta was soggy. No one knows that brucetta is toasted crostini FIRST then place the tomato/garlic on top!! The died ravioli was so dry tasting bland. Chicken picatta had zero flavor and side veggies were hard as a rock. Rick shrimp pasta was super bland as well. We stated it was a birthday celebration and he acknowledged it upon greeting us but didnt do one damn thing when we ordered the bread pudding! We were seated wayyyyyyyyyyyyy in some back room by a busy walkway that people kept going through. The helper servers come by wayyyy too often to fill water which was very annoying- here's a thought- leave the pitcher or get bigger water glasses!! The helpier that picks up dirty dishes came by and wanted the dirties the second we were done (and sometime before we were done)! He even disturbed the waiter as he was talking to us about our next order and asked the waiter to pass him one of the dirty app dishes!!! So basically, the chef needs to hade others taste his dishes to see they need more seasoning and the wait staff and their helpers need to read the room....not bother the waiters when they're speaking, leave pitcher of water if they see us drinking it too fast for them to keep up! And for gods sake, when people say they're celebrating something, acknowledge it!!! We spent over $200 on a mediocre experience and didn't even get a flipping bday candle!! My husband and I made reservations for our 32 wedding anniversary. I made the reservation 2 weeks in advance for 5:00 . It was the day before new years, on a Tuesday night. The hostess said the table she gave us was her favorite, it was down a dark hall, on the way to the bathroom, (a lot of traffic). The waitress was nice, asked us if we wanted a drink and I ordered a glass of Rodney Strong Chardonnay, at $10.00 per glass. She came back and said they were out, but they had the second one on the list, which was $18.00 a glass. I said no and that if I knew that a glass of wine was $ 18.00 I would of brought my own bottle of Rombauer and pay the $25.00 corkage fee. Then she suggested a house wine that was a blend, not even a chardonnay, for $10.00 a glass. I said o.k. and that's exactly what it was, just o.k. I ordered the Saltimbocca, which was excellent, even the vegetables, my husband had the flat iron steak which was also good. She offered desert at the end of our meal, Tiramisu, which is our favorite, then came back and said they were out. We ordered the creme brulee, after seeing it made on TV that very day, with the torching of the sugar on top. She brought two warm plates and the sugar was not freshly burnt, it was a big disappointment, and although, the food was good, it was very pricy. read more

My husband and I visited on a recent Friday for a date night. We planned to start with happy hour around 5:00 pm with dinner reservations at 5:30 pm. After a warm welcome as we entered the restaurant, we seated ourselves at a long table in the center of the bar area. It took 6-8 minites before being acknowledged, though there were three people working the bar and it was only moderately busy. This has been our experience here on several visits. We placed our order and after awhile our drinks arrived. The server brought our bill when we were ready to head in for dinner. I was charged for a wine that was $2.00 more per glass than I ordered. Not a big deal but always smart to check your bill. Another server kindly made the correction and we were seated in the dining area. We were pleasantly greeted by Jess, our server for the evening. She shared the specials and answered our questions. We began with the octopus appetizer. Warm bread and butter also arrived. The octopus was good but sliced wafer thin and not much of it. Jess arrived with the pinot noir we chose for dinner. I ordered the halibut special, my husband chose the filet mignon and we shared a Caesar salad. We've enjoyed many Caesar salads and were intrigued with this offering because it had squid ink in the dressing. It didn't really taste too different but it gave the salad an unappealing "muddy" look. Won't be ordering that again. As we were enjoying our wine, our entrees were delivered. My halibut and vegs were lovely but my husband's filet was more medium than medium rare as ordered. Jess quickly rectified the issue and the next steak was cooked the way he ordered. We enjoyed our meal and finished with bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. It was very good but it was large enough to take some home too. Jess really added to the evening with her fun personality and professional service. Reata on 3rd continues to be a favorite local restaurant. read more

VERY PRICEY!!!! Service can be great it just ok! Cocktail prices have really gone up too. If you have a favorite cocktail that you have ordered other places, make sure you know the brand of the beverage you normally like it made with. A lot of Bars will just use their "well" type of alcohol instead of a better quality alcohol! read more

Sat Sept 28th, ordered 1 breakfast burrito during the morning farmers market. Terribly slow service, took the cook 50 + minutes to make one basic burrito. The bar lady, very nice asked cook 3X and he still worked slowly. I will never go back to Reata for food! The Bloody Mary drink was excellent, recommend that. I was told this restaurant still had the same/similar things on the menu that Redwood used to have and decided to make a trip. The appetizers were amazing although I do wish I would've had an extra lamp chop. The drinks were delicious and beautifully garnished. That's big for me since I have been in the bar industry for many years now. I ordered the filet mignon for dinner with a baked potato and green beans. I tried the braised short ribs as well and it was so so good! Dessert was delicious. Will definitely become a repeat patron here. read more

I been here 3 times! The first time it was amazing so we came a second time. The second time the service was ok, it wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. The food was good expect the bruschetta that we order. We decided it to give it a last chance which was our 3rd time going. It was HORRIBLE SERVICE! He forgot my drink order came 10min later to ask me what I had ordered. My steak was burnt and cooked medium instead of medium-rare. I ended up trading food with my bf because he didn't want me to return my food. Then in the middle of our dinner our server came ONCE only to see if we were okay or wanted a drink. Our cocktails had been empty for like 20min. My bf ordered a drink, I didn't because I was already upset. Our server NEVER brought him his drink because he forgot!!! It was horrible. (I had the Chicken Parmesan and the fried ravioli, my mother had the Shrimp Rock Chitarra and she's SUPER picky, and she loved it!) 2. Service was impeccable. Restaurant ambiance was beautiful with unique welded furniture and very "oakdale" cowboy vibe. We were sat at a quiet space next to the wine wall however the staff decided to stock the wine during our meal. This was distracting and disruptive to our experience. We brought this to the management's attention and they did nothing and did not care. Our waiter was not able to take our dinner order because of the stocking and management did not care about the feedback. Don't bother food was tasteless and cocktails were not well made. "Smoked" old fashion taste nothing like smoke we want our money back and chef and restaurant manager could care less when given insights about our experience. read more

The big reason I am giving a 5 star review is because after the waiter brought the check to us, I put cash down and my wife and I left. We were probably 80 yards down the street from the restaurant when one of the workers (wish I knew his name) started yelling for us. As we walked back he handed me $101 of cash to which I had accidentally dropped under the booth we were sitting at. I am immensely grateful that he spent the time to run out of the restaurant to get me the money back that I dropped when I know most people would've just kept it. He shook my hand and said "we hope to see you again soon." It was a great experience and I'm so grateful that he took the time to be a great person. Our first experience here and it was terrible. We arrive about 6:15 on a Saturday night and it was not too busy. We were seated in the dining area. It took awhile to be greeted and order a drink. My wife spoke to one of the staff about a particular drink she had seen and was told the drink, so when the waiter did show, thats what we ordered. It was not the drink (or even close) so we did not received it and he brought another one (although charged us $14). We were there for a little over 2 hours and received one cocktail each. In the mean time those all around us that came later, with bigger parties had received bread, apps, multiple cocktails, dinner and started on dessert. When the meal final showed up at the 1:40 mark, the chicken parm was rubber and the pasta ice cold. We never did get bread even though it appears to be standard as every table had it beside ours. My pizza seriously was like a frozen pizza. Had no firmnesses to it, and did not look like it was in the oven long enough. I make pizzas and can only assume it was cooked correctly, but sat on the line for way too long like the chicken part. Both were inedible at that point. My wife chose to go get the manager to not cause a scene. The waiter came to check in and ask if we wanted another drink, at the 1:50 mark and I quietly told him about the meal and had him take it away. The manager did not charge us for the meals, but tried to charge us for the 3 drinks, and at least took off the one drink we never touched. I woudl have expected they comp the whole ticket and ask to have us back for another opportunity to redeem things, but that a just me. It is a shame that the experience was so bad as the vibe is cool, and would have been a nice place to check out from time to time. They had a ton of staff throughout the restaurant, so it did not appear to be an under-staffing issue. It was busy, so overall they are doing something right. read more
