Woooooowwwwwww! So this is what everybody was talking about. I felt a little bad when the H.E.B. off of Westheimer/Fountainview closed down and pondered me on why this busy store would just disappear over night for me. Driving further down the road I came upon the grand daddy of any H.E.B. I've ever seen. Someone took an H.E.B. store and shot it up with steroids and here is what you get, all muscle and no winky dinky. Everything you could find any any "other" flagship store is here including a few places to eat. They were closed when I got here but there is a Sushi place, a bbq counter and probably another that I missed. Every isle and corner you turn you will find something that you won't find at your local stock store like a dedicated beef jerky place, spices, cheese, olives, candies, breads, meats, teas you name it you are guaranteed to find it here. Household items that are unique to find are here too for example those granite ice cubes you freeze then put in your drink to keep cold, stone shot glasses and just things you expect to find a one of those weird import stores. Parking, have you ever seen a place where an 18 wheeler could drive down a row and literally back up into a parking place if one existed? Well the space exists here, there is about a 20 feet gap in between parking isles so if you happen to back up and hit someone else's vehicle here? You must either be Asian or tended to drive home backwards, they could really fit another isle of parking spots there. The wine selection is obviously huge and there are wine tastings here at times. read more

This is my first time visiting the San Felipe location, and it's quite different compared to other HEBs I've been to before. First off, this HEB has an actual dine-in restaurant inside, which is pretty cool. For those who want to take a break from shopping or is really hungry, you can dine in at Table 57. I think next time I would like to try this restaurant. Then, they got a sushi station that offers hot entrees. Why visit a restaurant when there are so many options here at HEB? I wouldn't say this is the largest HEB location I've seen, but it has a lot more crammed into one building. I feel the aisles are much shorter compared to other grocery stores or other HEB locations. I liked that they have more variety of organic/natural chicken available though- this seems to be lacking at other HEB locations. And I saw bagged lentils, which I instantly got two bags of (I wanted to get more but decided to try these first). Lentils are so hard to find at other HEB locations. Today, as I was checking out, I heard an announcement that they were giving away stainless steel cooking ware as a one-time promo thing on aisle 17 to all customers in a few minutes, with no purchase required. I checked out and went back to aisle 17, and there was a guy there doing demonstrations for a cooking tool. After his demonstration, he gave out a small knife. It's a one-time promo thing, but I think it's cool that this store is doing that. I've never been to a store that does promos like this. I tried shopping here a lot when I first moved to the area but I hate the interior layout, it's a maze that's traps you and it's difficult to navigate because it's so packed with people and poor aisle layout. So I used curbside pickup, which is worse. Sometimes there would be a line of cars backed up waiting to park because they're running so late. When I arrived to pick up an order today they called my cell after I'd checked in to tell me it would be a 30-45 minute wait. And i showed up 10 minutes after the start of my pick up time. H‑E‑B has some good food products, but this location is a pain. read more

The layout of the HEB is pretty unique, but I love how clean and modern this location is. I had a really great experience at this HEB this past weekend. As I was searching for the perfect pineapple, an HEB staff member took the initiative and asked if I needed help picking one out. He provided some tips and suggested one that looked ripe. When I got home and cut it open, the pineapple was perfect! It was sweet and juicy - just how I like it. Shout out to the guy who helped me pick this out. It's been over a year since the new location has opened (holy crap I'm getting old fast), and 99% of my grocery shopping is done between here and Costco so I thought I'd update my review. Parking is still kind of bad but not as bad as it was when they first opened. You still may have to walk quite a while. Their produce is very fresh but their sealed salad bowls (that you can take to work) kind of took a turn to the south lately. Some of their salads even have pasta in them...who wants empty carbs with a healthy salad? Anyhoo, still, best produce section of all the local stores. Their fishy smell is still there, especially when you come around 8 or 9 pm and unfortunately, it's right next to the produce and the booth where the guy in the chef's hat cooks up stuff so the good smell of the food with the smell of fish water doesn't go well. Also, I'm not a big fan of their layout. It seems that the same types of item are in 3 different spots in the store. Let's say you want cheese. There is the consumer cheese section, then there is the fancy cheese section, and then there is the really fancy cheese section. Same with lunch meat. there is a foofoo section, the consumer section, and the deli. All in all, I am pretty happy with them though so all my complaints are 1st world type of issues. read more

I normally shop at the HEB in La Porte which is a fantastic store and always a great experience. This store, San Felipe, on the hand is not. I will never set foot in this HEB again. I can find prepared meals elsewhere. I was checking out and the cashiers where changing out. I attempted to be friendly with the new cashier and was met with blankness. So I tried a second time to be friendly and she wasn't having it. How very rude, in my opinion. So much for this HEB. Do better! read more

This has been my local HEB for a couple years now, and our relationship is still going strong (82 check ins and counting). I have been spoiled by the shiny, flashy glory of this location. 1) It is a huge space. The high ceilings and wide aisles provide a comfortable shopping experience even during peak hours. 2) The selection is great. Giant produce section. Most HEBs have a cheese corner, but this one has a WHOLE ISLAND. And they even have a surprisingly well-stocked ethnic foods section, which is convenient when I'm missing a specific ingredient and don't have time to drive to HMart or 99. 3) Parking is a breeze. It gets a little crowded on the weekend, but even then there is still parking as long as you are willing to walk a bit more (some rare daily exercise wow). So much love. read more

I usually go to heb on hwy 6 and Bellaire which they all always have great customer service from the whole team. But today I decided to go to the upper kirby never again. I was disappointed no customer service from cashier Leah F at all. As it was my turn Leah never smile or even a hello straight just told me to take all my items out from carry on basket as if she was annoyed. I didn't have no problem with that but her energy was just rude which made me mad. I want to thank one of the female employee by the bakery who asked me if I had needed help as I came into the store was so nice of her. This place is MASSIVE. You would be hard pressed to come here and not find what you need, and probably 5 different versions of that item. They have all of your typical grocery departments and huge produce, meat, and dairy sections. Drawback to this location is that it is always packed - with a store this great, makes sense. But that does mean parking can be frustrating, especially at peak times. read more

Well as of today it's official... I will be switching over to the HEB on Bunker Hill. The San Felipe store has lost my business due to the lack of certain inventory items. They have literally taken off the shelf. They no longer carry water chestnuts or zataran's Creole mustard... The person helping me looked it up on their app and told me no longer available. This has been the trend over the last 12 months at this store. Additionally, they are remodeling the store and it is a mess right here at Thanksgiving shopping season. I'm not sure what they're trying to accomplish but it's not good. read more

The real reason why I love this HEB so much as because it is really close to my work. So, if I need to get some food on the fly, I can just head on over there and in a minute I'm there. I get what I need and leave. Also, it's usually very clean. The people very friendly and really really helpful. Some things never even cross your mind as a possibility, and then they happen. Let me tell you about Saturday. First, I am among many, many people who absolutely HATE personal grocery shoppers. They are rude, inconsiderate, block entire aisles for extended periods of time and believe that their shopping is more important than anyone else's. I personally think they should all be put on midnight shift so they can do their shopping uninterrupted so that real people can navigate a store during normal business hours. On Saturday, I was doing some shopping at my local HEB store, and, as usual, it was over run with "personal shoppers" and their mega carts. One was blocking an area right next to a produce that I wanted. I waited and waited, then I waited some more. Then this personal shopper - who was about twenty - walked past me to the other end of the aisle and got something and came back. I had been there about 8 minutes by now, and he knew it. As he passed by, I said "How much more time do you need?" He replied "I'll take all the time I want." and kept walking. After another couple of minutes, he moved his cart a bit further down the aisle and I moved up and got what I was waiting to get, then I went around him and stopped about six feet in front of his cart to get something else. He pushed his cart very close behind mine and said "How much more time do you need?" I replied "I'll take all the time I want", just as he had. His response? He said quite loudly "Move your cart or I will punch you the FU** out old man." This was in front of a half dozen other customers and at least one other HEB employee. I put my arms to my side and said "Bring it. You've already said enough to get fired, and if you swing at me you'll be in jail until at LEAST Monday afternoon, and then I'll sue the store and you personally and get rich. Take your shot." The other HEB employee took off and went to get a manager while the growing crowd was taking video waiting for the action to start. When the Manager arrived, this personal shopper told her that he had said it because I wouldn't move my cart out of his way. The manager and the other HEB employee shuffled this personal shopper off through some back doors. At this point, I still don't have so much as an apology from HEB, and I honestly doubt that I will get one. This was at the HEB at San Felipe and Fountain View. read more

New to Texas and had never heard of H-E-B ; I was actually pronouncing it HEB(one syllable ) until I was nicely corrected. Prices are great ! I love they have vendors and food tastings throughout the store . It's nothing like getting off of work and walking into a grocery store hungry and a smiling employee says "would you like to try some guacamole?" - why yes , yes I would Then passing through the meat section and there's another employee grilling burger sliders -sayyyy whaaaaa?!? Today I went grocery shopping at this HEB. While I was checking out I botched several items I was being charged that weren't mine (they possibly belonged person that went before me and got pilled up with mine by the cashier not paying attention) and when I noticed them I told CESAR (the cashier at register number 7) that they weren't mine, he told me: "well they are here with your stuff". I told him I didn't even out those in my cart. He then proceeded to be a smart ass and said: "well are you sure you didn't" in a rude manner. I said they aren't mine and he continued to be rude. I order HEB delivery and their drivers for the most part are not trained for customer service. They want to leave your groceries in the heat, outside on your patio. This last driver just left the groceries in the way of the door, with the door open. My two indoor cats could have gotten lost. He allowed hot air to come in and flies. I asked him three times to bring in the stuff and this is what he did. I called to complain and the management refunded me about $24 from a $160 order. Not acceptable. Especially since my cats could have gotten out because of this. Won't be using their delivery again. read more

For some odd reason, management keeps rearranging the store. Some products have been moved to a completely different location as many as THREE TIMES in the last year. This is absolutely INSANE. Last time I went (about a month ago) they were doing another complete rearrangement. Customers were confused, agitated and upset. Floor employees were getting bombarded by confused and complaining customers with not all employees handling it very well. I even witnessed one floor employee grow extremely short with a customer stating that grocery and dairy were "two completely different departments" and it was not his "responsibility"/not his decision to keep rearranging the store. I assume by that point he had been approached many times. Management: STOP THE MADNESS! read more

Love, love this store and I've recently become a big fan of HEBs. A couple of pros- 1) The store is super clean and everything looks spotless when you walk-in. 2) They have a eatery restaurant inside called Table 57 - it's more upscale than a casual cafe, but serves some delicious BBQ, Korean sliders, salads and beer! I always come here for a bit to eat before I grocery shop to make sure I don't buy the whole store. 3) Fruit and veggies are unusually fresh, and I was so used to soggy lettuce and rotten vegetables at their old location. Definitely an upgrade! 4) Rotisserie Chicken - I have no idea what voodoo is in the Rotisserie chicken (even in original seasoning flavor) but it's always moist, juicy and not greasy. Even on the second and third day, I can heat it i up and it's still tasty. 5) Super busy - but the check-out lines are quick and seem to always be open. 6) A good select of high-end of moderate priced wines. Wine department is small, but you can still find a good amount of expert-rated wines. 7) Fresh seafood and reasonable prices on meat - bought some filet mignons and lobsters, and felt like I paid the same price or close to it that I would buy in the Asian grocery stores. A couple of cons - 1) Parking is a mess - especially on the weekends. Since this is in shopping center with many other shops and restaurants, it gets pretty busy and parking is a rarity at times. I try and go on an random week day. 2) Always busy - avoid the hours of 5pm and 7pm if you can on the week days, due to the traffic and the store foot traffic. 3) Map of the store would be helpful - the layout is pretty confusing and definitely different than the other HEBs in the area. I LOVE grocery stores. I could spend all day just wandering the aisles, sampling snacks, and people watch. This new HEB is gorgeous and it has its very own in-store restaurant, which I think is a first for a Houston HEB store. I came early in the morning to avoid the crowds and I was overwhelmed by all the store has to offer. The layout as with any new grocery store takes some adjusting to, but they have MAPS available for those that need to do some efficient shopping. Pros: -plenty of specialty items! -they have a hummus bar with a plethora of topping options! -they have a bento box and bimbimbap (rice bowl with toppings) station adjacent to the sushi station -there is a in-store restaurant!! -great store layout -huge space Cons (but not really): -it's a tad more pricey compared to the other standard HEB stores, but I think that comes along with the nature that they're selling nicer products. The majority of the products are still the same price as other stores. The produce is mostly organic- not really a con, but it comes at a higher price tag. It's a little out of the way for me and the fact that the produce is a bit more expensive makes it difficult for me to want to do my every day shopping here. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful store and I'm eager to come back to try out their restaurant Summary: HEB on crack, great specialty items, parking is plentiful. read more

This is the most expansive HEB in Houston-with integrated restaurant and huge fresh fish selection, this is a good competition to Whole Foods about five minutes away. Again, It's spacious, and my cart doesn't get roadblocked! The aisles are well stocked & organized - there's a fresh juice section, organic section, digital scales. The meat section has some Kobe beef along with the usual steaks and it has a lot of variety in the pre-seasoned meats. There's also stuff on sale if your meal planning is somewhat flexible. Pork chops for $3.47/lb...the pre-seasoned variety makes it hard to compare pound per pound, but my recommendation is to go through regular ground beef and hit up the spice racks at the end of your grocery run near the bakery. This location is designed around healthy eating with the 100% fresh juice for you juice fiends; you can end up spending quite a bit if you forget your list. We just grabbed a once-a-day bottle of juice to try out. It's $8 after tax-yeah but has apple, kale, celery, lemons cucumbers, and spinach. Alcohol: the wine area has a huge wine selection along with a wine tasting station. Wines are also organized by country for the connosieurs. There are some gluten-free beers, in addition to what they call super-premium domestic (nothing special in that area), and some imports I'll have to try. In the corner are "bombers" with what I conceive to be specialty you won't find at other HEB's. Of course i'm a sucker for the snack & chips isle. There's a whole dedicated aisle for healthy, organic and not so much. Dairy: lots of options for mothers, lactose intolerant, or if you just like the taste of almond milk more. They have the new Coca Cola brand milk (FairLife) that's comes in three varieties: Ultrafiltered, chocolate, and reduced fat-w50% more protein, 30% more calcium and lactose free. I have never had a bad experience with the HEB milk too, and the dates seem to be on par with the actual shelf life. Holy smokes! A very clean deli cheese & meat prep area along with a big ol island of cheeses. I kid not, I would love to be stranded on this island - just add crackers. Bread-the ultimate staple...I like how it right up next to cheeses so you can pair them together right. And of course there are some sale items to watch out for like steak rolls for $3.00 half dozen. Mmm don't shop hungry!! Oh and more cheeses on the other side. Feta, blue, jack, muenster, sharp, Greek, provolone, brie, and if u have an Eff-it evening there's the party tray shaped like a big old Texas, characteristic of HEB party trays. Hummus Bar. Additional displays for hummus. Feed your chick pea addiction here. About $4.28 for a big tub. Spice rack. Get them by the jar or by the lb. Here's where you can really add some variety to your meats and get around their pricing strategy for the meats. BULK FOODS: Grind your own nuts or make your own snack mix with a whole isle of pecans, party mixes, walnuts, almonds, dried goodies, cashews, pistachios, legumes, etc. did I mention don't shop hungry hehe. Frozen isles, a larger variety of foods both ethnic and traditional hungry man-esque. Ice cream isle perfect for bulk desserts or just for the evening sugar fix-this area I'll revisit later. There's a big ol dessert area next to the bread & pastries as well. They're Patisserie-type, fun, decorated cakes that go far beyond what typical Randalls or Krogers have. The Sushi bar got a massive upgrade. A whole storefront is now dedicated to sashimi & Japanese snack prep. There is a small selection of sake. They also have quite a few $1 coupons for older sushi, but the taste for those is acceptable. I think we'll be putting quite a bit more time into fixing meals at home-and now we have an alternative to trader joes & whole foods. Coin star: check! Check out time: 3 minutes 50 seconds Out of a $94 1 error - I was charged for celery instead of cilantro (wrong code) -- so a 1% error is pretty bad. Probably a fluke though. read more

Finally, it's here! We have been waiting for this bad boy since 2013 so my expectations were high; wow did HEB deliver. This location is massive, has an incorporated restaurant that is awesome, and has all the other things you already love HEB for (fish/meat markets, local goods, etc). The aisles are spacious and the store is laid out in a great way, no trouble finding anything or doubling back if you missed something on the first pass. I'm so happy this location is finally open and I can't wait to do my shopping here every week! read more

My go to HEB, at 6am on a weekday. My only dislike is they don't have a salad bar, like the one on Bunker Hill. Blah, but they do have shredded rotisserie chicken, so I can't complain about that. Everything is generally easy to find here, and the aisles are fairly wide. At 6am, the employees are pretty friendly and helpful. Prices are always good and the parking lot is lit well. read more

I've been a loyal customer of HEB for years, until recently. They sold me rotten shrimp in my last curbside pickup order which essentially destroyed all other perishable items in the order as well as my refrigerator. I've deep cleaned the refrigerator & freezer several times, as well as hired a professional service to clean the unit. It's been weeks and I still can't get the rancid smell out of my fridge. HEB has refused to respond to my inquiries after their original offer to refund $16 for the rotten shrimp (actual cost of the item). I've spent an excess of $200 trying to remediate the issue they caused, and they can't even respond to my feedback. This is disgraceful customer service from a store where I've spent thousands and thousands of dollars. read more

Brad brought my groceries to my car within minutes of arrival for curbside service. He was pleasant and efficient and all the list was there. I shop in the store one to two times a week but curbside is the best service ever! I have used a similar service at Walmart and Kroger and other HEBs. This one on San Felipe is the best. I've always been a big fan of HEBs. They are usually very clean and simple inside with competitive prices without any kind of membership. They also offer in store coupons that are already printed for you to rip off and use. So every time a new location opens I must check it out. I went to the opening of the Buffalo Market and this one had even more hype as it has an actual restaurant inside! I came the opening weekend and they always have ridiculous deals. I had steaks for 75% off and live lobsters for almost 50% off. There were even more deals throughout the store. This store is going to have a lot of competition as the new whole foods and trader joes is just down the street. It was packed the day I went so I don't think they will have any trouble. read more

Though this is now farther than before for me to drive, there's plenty to like about this new HEB location. I was worried that it would be a consistent madhouse, but I have always been able to find decent parking and have had no issues getting in/out of the parking lot. My first trip around the store I made sure to take note of where everything was. I did get turned around once, but no big deal. All the perimeter departments are very spacious - produce, meats, dairy, deli. Good item selection and pricing. Easily accessible store coupons for related items are everywhere. Everything is still very neat (it's new, but hopefully stays this way). Lots of check out lines with various options for self checkout, less than 10 items, etc. I still haven't tried Table 57 yet... one of these days... read more
