I love coming here! They always have fresh produce at a decent price. They also have the Japanese udon noodles and tea that I can't find anywhere else. The staff were great and the ambiance friendly and cordial. I was at checkout and an item that I thought was a weekly special was an H Mart member exclusive deal. I went to the service counter and a pleasant lady had me fill out a membership form (to include a card for my wallet and to put on my keyring) and she credited me the difference, allowing me to get the sale price! They have fresh meat and seafood in addition to tons of Asian items. All in all, a great international market to visit to pick up items and to try new ones as well. read more

I miss my local access to Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese markets. Nowadays, every month I plan field trips because 50+ miles oneway/round-trip are necessary to keep my pantry supplies on hand. I have to say produce in this area is lacking. Freezing veggies is not for me and foraging is the way. I can smile knowing this HMart has what I need. From lime leaves, tia to, and pak choi, to fresh turmeric, snowpea shoots, and hung cay are just some to name a few that I have not found elsewhere. They sell my preferred brand for bulgogi marinade here. I appreciate the helping hand I received in the parking lot during my last visit. The skies opened out of nowhere a river poured out, and a kind gentleman helped me load my bags. He was quick with all smiles and while I was fine, his assistance was sincere. I'm so torn between 3 and 4 stars... it's really a 3.5 star experience if I'm being honest. But, I can round up in this case, and the pros do outweigh the cons in any event. First, the CONS: * It's cramped! Most of the aisles are very narrow, but even the open spaces (produce, seafood) are fairly small. May the odds be ever in your favor if you have to push a shopping cart around here. * Speaking of the seafood section, it is strongly aromatic. They say you shouldn't be able to smell good seafood. Well, I've never heard of anyone getting bad seafood here, but you wouldn't know from the odor. It's strong and not pleasant. * Some items are SUPER expensive. I think a lot of this boils down to import pricing, to be fair. Now, the PROS: * Many other items are super INEXPENSIVE! Sometimes, you can find produce and other pantry items for WAY less than you would at a local supermarket. * They have a lot of items you just can't find anywhere else. Even if you can find them online, you're paying a lot in shipping or finders' fees. * Their staff is fairly helpful and usually friendly. My main experience is usually with the cashiers, but even they tend to be really engaging and pleasant to chat with. * They have a very big selection for being a specialty market! For primarily carrying Korean products, they have a wide variety to choose from. You aren't at their whim for whatever they want to sell to you. I guess if you're okay with a slightly claustrophobic environment and a localized fishy smell, it's all shiny here. I could seriously spend hours in this store. I know from past experience that I can spend a lot of money in h-mart. We were wasting time before meeting up with friends to celebrate my birthday, and I needed Korean rice cakes. We were there maybe a half-hour and we had to leave because we were running out of money. It's a good thing h-mart is about an hour away. It would be too much of a temptation if it were closer. We also bought a bunch of interesting cheese ramen. They have several aisles devoted to ramen. It can be overwhelming if you don't know what you tend to like... I tend to avoid the seafood flavored ones. H-mart is huge and so fun to explore. This H-Mart is my favorite Korean/Asian grocery store in the area. It's not as large as the other H Mart but it has what I need. I come here every few months to stock up on random items or find something for a particular recipe. Aisles are laid out well and most everything I usually need are in stock. One of my favorite Korean markets: a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and fresh seafood! Now I don't have to run to Virginia to shop! After shopping in what seems endless aisles, if you need a break, there's a cute cafe that has many varieties of Korean dishes and sushi too. I wanted a hot bowl of soup to warm me today and I ordered Taro Gookbab which had shredded beef, radish, egg and noodles. It came with a bowl of rice and banchan kimchee and bean sprouts! Holy cow, H Mart has the best produce in eastern Maryland. The variety of vegetables, fruits, and root vegetables is second to none. Additionally, if you're looking for seafood, get it at your local H Mart, and have it cleaned on the spot for you to take home and cook. The meat selection is well prepared, nicely trimmed pieces of beef, chicken, pork, and other staples can be found within the meat department. Also, for those who like bone broth every type of bone from every type of animal is available at reasonable prices. Also, where else can you go and have lunch with finely crafted staples made from fresh produce and meat from H Mart. I also come here for spices, Ramen , other hard-to-find items that I like imported from countries far far away. This is by far my favorite grocery store I have ever been to. read more

Came to this location of H-Mart for the first time. Didn't buy anything on this trip, because I had just purchased some groceries at the Great Wall supermarket earlier. What's Hot - Food court. Not every H-Mart has a food court, so that this location has one is a definite plus. In addition to hot foods, they also have a sushi section and another refrigerated section in the grocery store that has side dishes. From what I could see other customers eating, their food appears pretty good. - Variety. Because this location is larger, that means there is a larger variety of products, including different brands/options of those specific products. - Prices. Their prices appear to be reasonable, especially given the variety of products that are available. Not extravagant. - Cleanliness. Pretty good, especially given the high customer turnover. - Parking lot. There's a decent size parking lot in this plaza. - Amenities in the plaza. There are other restaurants and shops in this plaza, which is helpful. There's a Korean restaurant in the same plaza and there's a Sweet Frog frozen yogurt joint available, as well. Definitely nice to have options. What's Not - Location. Unfortunately, this location is further from me, which is inconvenient. I prefer this location, because there are more amenities and variety compared to other smaller H-Marts closer to me. I do prefer the one in Ellicott City but this one is also great and slightly closer to the city. I must be missing my mom because this is the second visit to H Mart this week. The neighborhood is definitely busier so there's more traffic nearby. I think there's more Korean groceries at the other location but certainly you can get anything you want here. I stopped by go grab lunch quickly before going to get my car serviced. There's a small bakery (it's fine - nothing special but does hit nostalgia) and restaurant in here as well but I prefer the pre-packaged foods. Where have I been and how have I missed H-Mart this whole time?! I've driven by an H-Mart tons of times. My supervisor brought in some Mochi and relayed he got them at H-Mart. So....... on my quest to get the goods I visited my closest store. The best part about the trip (aside from finding SEVERAL versions of Mochi), was the in-store sushi & other freshly made foods! Yes, they have a restaurant(s) in the store! We were hungry and opted on having fresh sushi rolls made for us while we shopped. AND.......... it's cheaper than your average sushi shop! Amazing. Wait...... they also have my coffee! I order Cafe du Monde coffee from Amazon. Now I have a physical location I can find it for less than I pay on Amazon (unheard of I know). You can find almost ANY kind of protein you want in this store. Rabbit, every fish you can think of, gazillion versions of dumplings, and sauces galore. Check it out! read more

We were in Maryland last week and decided to check out the H Mart here for some Korean food. This location is smaller than in northern VA or in CA so they don't have a foodcourt which is rather disappointing but they have a kitchen where they sell some food. Not the greatest selection but the prices are very reasonable. I also bought some frozen stuff that were on sale and those would last me a few months before I need to buy them again so I'm pretty happy. read more

Definitely will return here. Such a great variety of food to choose from. The store seemed very clean and the produce was very very fresh. I also purchased fresh steak fish, live crabs and salmon steaks. All extremely reasonably priced and fresh. Great service from the cashiers. The market has international as well as American food options. They have a discount card. They also have a restaurant that sells Asian Cuisine on the inside and you can carry out or eat since there are tables right there. Omg this place is amazing! I didn't get a pic of the fruit section, but they have everything! I got prickly pears, an Asian pear, yellow dragon fruit and a golden pineapple. This is the best place to go to for fresh fruit! Everything was so sweet. Their icecream sections are incredible. So many fun things! My daughter and I had so much fun exploring all the aisles. HMart is one of my favorite local grocery stores. It is also the closest grocery store to our home. They have a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. The prices for fruits and vegetables are usually lower than in other grocery stores in the area. You can also find way more choices in the fruits and vegetables here. They also have a huge selection of everything to make your favorite Korean and Asian foods at home. They have a wonderful sushi counter. Bakery counter. Fresh caught fish and seafood. This store is a great resource for our local community. The people working here are usually very friendly and obviously hard working. It is however a very busy store. The aisles are close and as this place gets very busy and can be a bit crowded. There are always people stocking the aisles and cleaning up. They have bathrooms which are kept clean. There is a parking lot with a lot of parking spaces available. Just as an FYI there used to be a Asian cosmetic counter inside of the Catonsville H Mart but as of my most recent visit the cosmetic counter is gone and they are now using that space for more groceries. This store is a wonderful grocery store and a great place to shop. They have regular specials and sales so be on the look out for bargains. Unlike the Hmart I am used to in my area, this Hmart was a disappointment due to products unavailability and quality of merchandise. Many of the produce I went there to purchase were unavailable -- Thai basil leaves, kefir lime leaves, galangal, to name a few. The napa cabbage was overpriced for what it was. $1.29/lb. Really? That's actually more than what I pay for a pound of chicken at Lidl. I had no idea until I looked at the receipt and realized I paid nearly $10 just for cabbage. Lastly, many of the produce were wilted and not something I'd pay money for. Like chives and scallions. Just overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

My family and I came to this hmart earlier in the day to grab Filipino vinegar and soy sauce. When the POS, Roshely L., rung us up, it was not the price we saw so we asked them to check, and they corrected it to the price we saw on the shelf. Around 9:45 PM, we came back to grab red bean ice cream, and when it was rung up, again, it was not the price we saw, so we asked them to check. While I checked with another employee, the cashier, Roshely L., spoke to another coworker in Spanish, which my family happens to also speak. She told the other coworker to help her with the long line and called us "very cheap." My brother heard her and told her, in Spanish, that he understood what she said, and she did not apologize. This was an unpleasant experience. I hope they at least train their employees not to gossip in front of the customers' faces about them. Even in a different language. read more
