    Hojicha Latte

I love a Japanese grocery store! Daido has a respectable selection of meats, seafood, produce, snacks, and other Japanese goods. I've found some chips that I've never seen in other Asian grocery stores. They also have a cafe pop up on the weekends! The hojicha latte is okay but I highly recommend trying their strawberry mochi. They make it fresh, the strawberries are sweet, and there's delicious red bean paste inside!

I didn't even know this market existed!! It's located in a lil plaza. My sister and I came to daido to search for more matcha. We really just wanted to see what they had in comparison to seiwa. It's a bit on the smaller side. Not much to choose from food wise- it's basic, and the sushi is smaller. They had a great snack and drink selection though, and the matcha section was pretty solid. Towards the aisles in the back, they sell lunch bento boxes, cup ware, utensils, etc. Towards the front they have a small bakery section with prepackaged breads. The employee at the register was super friendly and soft spoken, and there were only 1-2 other customers at the time of our visit. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd come back! Hopefully this place gets more recognition!

This place has a little bit of everything from Japan! From toys and candy to a variety of foods, wine, and so much more--it's a fun and unique spot. They also sell homemade sushi and really good matcha. I ordered my matcha cold, and it was super tasty! You can also get it hot and add extra treats to customize it. I got there before noon and a lot of the sweet treats were already sold out, so it's best to come early. It's become really popular recently after going viral on Instagram, so there's usually a line out the door. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

So you felt scared for your life when you came here. Did you Daido? Absolutely amazing stuff here at this little Asian supermarket that a lot of people don't even know about. They have some wonderful pastries and baked items and it's actually one of my favorite little secret hidden gems around here.

The ingredients are fresh, especially the sashimi, the price is much cheaper than in big supermarkets, and it is very substantial

Fresh bento boxes, sushi, onigiri made every day

Truly a wonderful place. I make it a point to drive 30 minutes from Montrose/Houston Heights area to come here because of the products they carry. By the time I leave my cart is always filled to the top. I simply can't get enough of this place. It makes me want to do everything I can to help this place in hopes that they open up a new location somewhere closer. If you're looking for some top-notch Japanese food and snacks, this is the place to go. I always feel bad leaving because the cashier has to scan so many items but they've always been so kind to me. Please don't hesitate to come here even if it's out of the way. You won't regret it!

Daido is my current go-to when I want to grab some fresh sashimi. They have an amazing variety of choices there. Last time I was in the area, I picked up Scottish salmon, yellowtail, and amberjack. The salmon was so buttery and delicious. The yellowtail had just the right amount of fat and practically dissolved in my mouth. They also carry tons of snacks and other Japanese goods. Stop by- you won't be disappointed! Ask the cashier for a reward stamp card so you can accumulate credit toward a discount!

This bluefin chutoro was SO good and fatty, just look at it!

Grocery shopping on my day off is probably one of my favorite things to do and I am a frequent flier of every market both asian and American. For Japanese/sushi I always like to go to daido or hmart. I went to seiwa once and although it is much larger than daido I ended up getting less than I normally do here. It's been awhile since I've come to daido but I had a sushi night and came on Thursday (multiple reviews say this is one of their delivery days). I was so happy to find fresh scallops (SO SWEET), salmon (2 types), blue fin (chutoro grade!), regular tuna, uni, sweet shrimp, tamago, yellowtail, red snapper and much more. Everything I got was soo fresh. I also spent so much on other various snacks, seasonings, soup bases, frozen quick meals. This store may be small but it truly has everything Japanese that's needed. I even saw many different drinks that I haven't seen since my trip to Japan. Overall, I probably won't be stopping by any other store when I plan to cook Japanese food and am glad I decided to stop by here again

So we went and it indeed had everything. The longest line was for Grill City. In all honesty, I feel like Grill City is a bit overhyped. The kare kare didn't taste like my father-in-law's. He makes the best kare kare. But you can't beat home cooking. Too bad my FIL is in CA. The liempo was good, but how can you really mess up grilled pork belly? However, I did like Sizzle. Their bangus sisig on a grilled platter was so delicious! I was jealous of my husband's pick. I also really loved the items at Valerio. Reminds me of Panorama City in CA. Everything here was light and bright and it smelled clean. Would I come back? Only if I'm in town. Next time I'll bring a big cooler.

I am so glad that we did because the food was awesome! We tried the fried flounder(special of the day) and shrimp plates. All plates come with two sides and a complimentary tea or lemonade. The beverages are self served so I decided to mix them(delicious Arnold Palmer). We chose french fries, hush puppies, and a veggie eggroll as our sides. Also, we had the fried crab fingers and onion rings. Everything was extremely fresh and fried to golden perfection! Most notably the food wasn't greasy at all which says a lot about their frying technique! The flounder was light and crispy. The shrimp were the best that I have eaten in the city. The hush puppies were also the best that I have ever had. The crab fingers were awesome! The service was excellent! Food came out quickly even with there being a fair amount of people waiting to order. The staff were very nice and helpful. The lady at the front was incredibly friendly and patient with customers. The staff made sure that we had everything that we needed including condiments. Top notch service. The ambiance in the restaurant was very lively but in a peaceful way. The restaurant itself is very small like a dive which I love! It has about six tables which was fine with us because most people were getting togo orders. We enjoyed eating inside the restaurant! The market section has an assortment of fresh fish and seafood for customers who would prefer to cook at home. People from all walks of life were here which is a testament to the goodness of the food! Thank you Chef Chris for the recommendation! I have nothing bad to say about this place. They have been in business since 1972 and I can understand why! If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out!
