Absolute waste of time. Waco has all of 1 dog park across the entire city. This dog park was a waste of an hour of my time and gas, the gates are locked and there's a no trespassing sign. I drove all the way here so I had to play with my dog in the area outside the fence instead. Horrible and sad, we visited 9/12/2024 Edit: an old man in a truck almost ran me over telling me to "f off its private property" and then proceeded to record me and follow my vehicle as I was terrified. 0/10, I have never felt so unsafe in my life and called the cops read more

Considering this is the only dog park i can find in the WACO area, I'm happy that while visiting i could let my Jack Russell run free. She was happy to be out of an apartment. I'm from the Austin area and dog parks are everywhere. As I can see the push for downtown WACO living, why in the world are there no "enclosed" places for pet owners to take their pets to? The H.O.T park space is huge for large dogs, the small dog area was pretty small and rather neglected as well as the medium sized dog area but I'm so grateful for it and an enclosed area either way. Nice with great hills, plenty of shade and benches and a nice walk path around the perimeter area. Friendly dogs (thank goodness) For some reason my GPS took me some place else but a nice man told me where to go to find the dog park. (on a bend next to the Texas Animal Med Ctr) The pond is dried out due to the heat. Obstacle course is old and in need of some work. Saw a black dog that didn't appear to belong to anyone and didn't look friendly but approached my dog and thankfully just walked away. read more

I absolutely love the layout of this park and a lot of the dog owners are absolutely amazing with well-behaved dogs. There's also a few who have dogs that can get a little excited and the owners are very responsible and know how to control them and take them away from the situation. Then there's a third group of people who seem to have no responsibility and write off aggressive, charging dogs with their teeth bared, hackles up and their heads down . These irresponsible people say that their dogs are just being dogs and it's a dog park. Clearly dogs play and they can bark, but you can definitely tell the difference between a play and aggression. People with aggressive dogs like this should have them on leash with muzzle. Or they should be taking them to a trainer to address the issues. They should not be bringing them to a dog park where it is intended for dogs to play together when they are well-known to be aggressive. I wish there was an easy way to report these people. This one was a smaller lady kind of short with two brown dogs , maybe a third. This person should be fined and banned from the park. I had been recommending this park, but now I no longer will since people do not seem to be able to self regulate. Tthis kind of experience is completely avoidable. Just a few irresponsible people can ruin it for everyone. read more

my dog absolutely loves coming here. Two smaller areas, one at the front and one way at the back. one large park for the dogs to play. There are plenty of hills and trees for shade and exercise. Walking paths on the perimeter of the park. Many benches for people to rest on, dog bag stations scattered throughout for poop cleanup. If you come often there are plenty of regulars everyone I've met is friendly. It can get crowded towards the end of the workday (like 5pm and after) and sometimes on weekends. But then again I've been here at these times and nobody is there so it's a toss-up. This is a no frills dog park but still a great place for your pet to run around, play, and socialize. read more

We were incredibly impressed with this off-leash dog park. It's HUGE! Fully fenced, lots of varied terrain to give the pups an exhausting work out, and a good walking path around the park for us humans. In the back, there is a separately enclosed area (also enormous) for small dogs under 25 pounds. It has its own walking path. We drove up from Austin and met others who drove down from DFW. I heard another person suggest this would be a good place to stop and exercise your dogs on a trip between the cities, and I wholeheartedly agree. It's less than 10 minutes off of I-35, and easy to find. Plenty of parking too. There were a total of 12-20 dogs at 11 a.m. on a Saturday, including the three in our group. I can't emphasize how spacious this park is. If you are familiar with the Norwood Park in Austin (I-35 and Riverside), this one is easily twice as large. Lots of room for the dogs to find friends to socialize with, and get away (if necessary) from those they don't jive with. The park is fully fenced. There are water dishes and dunk tubs for the dogs, plus scoop bag stations and benches. The front area is sunny and back area is shady. The signs ask that you not bring in toys or treats. There were several balls and Frisbees (plus lots of great sticks!) for those who like to play fetch. The rules state all dogs must be off leash, and most folks hang their leashes at the entry gate. We were dealing with newly rescued pups who are not yet reliable on recall, so we let our dogs loose but brought our leashes into the park, and were glad that we did. The park is so large that it was difficult to catch pups on the run when time to go. We walked our dogs out on leash, and that didn't seem to cause any worry, among humans or canines. Very happy to have found this spot. It's right down the road from Cameron Park as well as a small park on the east side of the Brazos River. We set up a picnic by the boat dock on the smaller park. Overall a fantastic afternoon, and great dog day! read more

This dog park is awesome! The area for big dogs is huge. There is also a separate area for smaller dogs. The park is well kept and clean. My dog loves it! There are lots of benches and a picnic table in the shade. At the entrance on the bulletin board, there are QR codes and options where you can make donations to the park, which is managed by volunteers. read more

This used to be a great park, clean and kept up. Now it is unkempt, garbage on the ground, overflowing recepticles, and the grass it extremely tall. If you are traveling through and can make it to Elm Mott there's a clean dog park, or there is a great, small put stop dog park in West (I35 heading south). read more

Great place for me and my girlfriend's dog to get tired. Nice people and big space. The only issue is that there is one woman that comes regularly with a dog that is not friendly at all. She doesn't care, but it bit my dog, making him scream and yelp, and she called it playing. She's a very large woman that throws the tennis ball with her dog, so if you see her there, just beware. read more

I love the fact that there is a huge dog park to go play! What I don't like is people bringing not so friendly dogs. The space is great, there's a pond to play in, but common sense is don't bring your not friendly dog out where they can hurt someone else. It ruins it for everybody! read more

An amazingly large fenced in space for the critters but most of it was overgrown on our visit with proof of thoughtless attendees every few steps near the entrance. How folks refuse to clean up after their dog is beyond me. The place would be well served by more attention to its upkeep. I'm so happy this park exists. I took my dog here today for the first time and he loved it. Big open space with trees, water for the dogs, plenty of benches, and even an obstacle course. Also a nice place to chat with friendly people. As Waco's only public dog park, I'm so grateful to the generous couple that built and maintain it. read more

Went to the dog park for the first time. My dogs loved it. I have three dogs so we started in the small park since I wasn't sure how they would do off leash. The small park is really small and could stand to be mowed, but it let me see how they would do. There is another park after you walk through the large park that people say is for little dogs but I didn't see any signs that said that. That park has a good walking trail. When a friend arrived we went to large park. There are a lot of trees, with a walking path and benches to watch the dogs play. There were two water ponds and it was great to watch the large dogs jumping and splashing in the ponds. I met a couple of people there who said the ponds are new and have just been added in the last month. So glad to find out that Waco has a dog park. read more

Its only geared towards big dogs since moving the small dog park to the front and taking AWAY over half of the space our little dogs used to have. What an outrage!! There is 3 1/2 beautiful acres for big dogs. They have a TINY "SPOT" at the front of the property for dogs 25lb. and under. They didn't bother to devote even 1/2 of an acre to the small dogs of Waco. The "spot" tossed at the small dogs doesn't even have much shade. So it would be grueling during the summer months. There isn't room for improvements as improvements would take up all the "little bit" of space there is. All of the future fundraising efforts will be gathered for the big dog park. If you have a big dog, its nice. But the small dog park is pathetic now. read more
