This is a great park. Just so ya know there isn't a public bathroom. This is a city park in Crawford Texas. There is a waterfalls and a river and there is a good sized picnic area w plenty of benches. There are two sets of horseshoe pits a half basketball court and two volleyball courts. There is a nice overview of the river and falls from the bridge. According to the chamber of commerce the pavilion and or the stone tables as well as the stairs were built during the Great Depression as one of the building projects at the time. There are stairs down to the river but just a warning the steps are a bit steep and no food or drink is allowed down past the stairs. Once you get down there it really is beautiful. According to the local I talked with there today they allow swimming there in the spring if the water level is high enough. The water level changes a lot. The park has been recently renovated according to a sign that I had trouble photographing. You can see in the older pics that the foliage was becoming more overgrown and it is indeed tidier now. When the water is low supposedly there are paintings on the rocks that are hundreds of years old. There is some differences of opinion about who did the paintings. This town has a lot of history and I did read a sign that this is George W Bush's hometown. The pavilion is very nice and historical. The park is on fourth street. The address on yelp takes you to a historical plaque. Just look at the map from there and turn right at fourth and your there. Follow the green.

So, this place is closed today because there is no water. Guess it's more of a spring thing...

Luckily for us we did have kids who were complaining of being tired by the midway point of it, so it is perfect for families. But if you are an avid hiker who hikes for miles and miles, this is not the spot. We did go to the beach to look around, but didn't get in as it is winter right now and was at 30-50 degree weather. It is a beautiful place, very clean and well kept. If you are coming in with family, this is perfect, but if you want to hike, this is not your spot.

As soon as I drove into the front entrance, I stopped in the office in order to print the day pass I purchased online yesterday. All three ladies were extremely friendly and helpful. They showed me the key highlights of the park on the map. Then I shopped their merchandise in the park store. The trails were very well maintained and laid out. Each path was clearly visible so as not to get lost or off the marked walkway. I even spent some time in one of the day use areas to read this month's issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine. What a way to finish enjoying such a wonderful park. Please check out!
