Luckily for us we did have kids who were complaining of being tired by the midway point of it, so it is perfect for families. But if you are an avid hiker who hikes for miles and miles, this is not the spot. We did go to the beach to look around, but didn't get in as it is winter right now and was at 30-50 degree weather. It is a beautiful place, very clean and well kept. If you are coming in with family, this is perfect, but if you want to hike, this is not your spot.

As soon as I drove into the front entrance, I stopped in the office in order to print the day pass I purchased online yesterday. All three ladies were extremely friendly and helpful. They showed me the key highlights of the park on the map. Then I shopped their merchandise in the park store. The trails were very well maintained and laid out. Each path was clearly visible so as not to get lost or off the marked walkway. I even spent some time in one of the day use areas to read this month's issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine. It is separate from the neighboring "Speegleville Park" that has RV campsites. The park is on the west site of Lake Waco and is easily accessible with an unmanned guard station. There are "pay stations" throughout the park where you're expected to pay $5 per vehicle. The park is "day use only" and does not allow overnight parking or camping. There is a boat ramp. More than 50 covered picnic sites, most with charcoal BBQ grills, are in the park. These are available first-come, first-served and I had no problem with the one we would use today at 8:00am. I spotted a playground in one area. There are also restroom facilities throughout which are helpful though primitive. The park is clean from trash and in good condition. There's plenty to do and places to grab food, just a walk away. Lots of Amazing people we have met on our walks plus they have a fab playground and community garden. During the warmer months, a pool to spend time on this hot Texas days with kiddos. It's also a fabulous PET FRIENDLY PARK! Basketball area, huge pond with ducks, a pavilion and a plethora of seating areas! Trees to cool you down. Along the walking path are little workout areas with equipment. It is also dog friendly. Pretty much dirt trails, so after rains, it can get muddy, but we are in Texas, so that only happens occasionally. You can get several miles in on the various trails. Others are friendly and willing to point you in the right direction. I've been here a couple of times now and enjoyed both times. I do recommend hiking with someone else in case of emergencies. You never know when you might come across a snake, so be safe!

If the weather is nice and you have some time to kill, swing by this beautiful park and let the kids play while you enjoy a great stroll down the walking track. It also has volleyball and tennis courts along with soccer and baseball fields. Be sure to check out the historic bridge over the creek that runs through the park. For those playing Pokemon Go, there are two PokeGyms located in the park.

It really is a nice place for what it actually is. The park in the name may be somewhat of a…read moremisnomer. It is small. It is somewhat more of a town square of sorts. They is a gazebo made from bricks. It is very nice a historical plaque that tells about the history of the area placed there by Texas. There are sone nice benches donated. Also some bricks in the walkway donated. There is a time capsule there. The magnolia house which I am assuming is related to the HGTV show and Chip and Joanna Gaines somehow is across the street. It is IMO more of a gathering place for the community than a regular park. Information is dispensed here. There is a community info area on boards but is hard to read because of the weather affecting it. Please don't get me wrong it is a nice place to "sit a spell" and very quiet and peaceful. If you were wanting bbq pits places to run or bathroom's it isn't really the place for that. It is off a main business area for the city. I would go there and read or contemplate if I lived closer. I really like it and the word Legacy means more in the name than the park part IMO.
