This place was absolutely worth it. We stayed at the Fairmont which made this super convenient. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The menu selection for adults and kids was excellent. And the food was just fine right and at a good quality. The star is the high tea. If you've never done high tea before definitely do it here. We go regularly and experienced some of the best one's in the US. This i think is the best or second best I've ever had. The value is there. The ambience was exquisite. The charm was there. I have to say, I was seriously impressed with this Sakura-themed high tea Came here for a birthday treat thanks to a friend, and it ended up being such a great experience from start to finish. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the food? So much of it. We actually had to take some home, which almost never happens with high tea. The pastries and sandwiches were not only beautifully presented, but also creative and well-executed--nothing felt like filler. You can tell there was real thought put into the menu. Everyone we interacted was very kind and helpful. We especially enjoyed our time with the bartender who was attentive to our needs. Smoked salmon bagel -- 9/10. This was really good and fulfilling. The smoked salmon tasted fresh. Avocado toast -- 9/10. Solid avocado toast which paired nicely with the salad and poached egg. I ordered some bacon on the side for some additional protein Berry french toast -- 4/10. I found this to be dry and lacking in flavor. I wouldn't recommend this. Wings -- 6.5/10. The wings were just ok to me. I personally prefer when my wings are already separated. Flavor was good for the first bite, but got tiring after French onion soup -- 5/10. This was my first time trying french onion soup, so I could honestly just not like the dish, but I thought it tasted awful. At the end we just had chunks of cheese Chocolate cake -- 8/10. I was staying at the hotel had a good and beverage credit, and decided to try their afternoon tea. The tea is located behind a book shelf door, which was cute. I really liked the dish ware/table setting. I decided on the Bella coola tea, which was very fruity and pink! The tier came in a huge half birdcage. The arancini was a bit disappointing- it was basically a fried rice ball with no cheese or much flavor. The desserts were great- especially the chocolate cake with matcha moss, the sea salt caramel was good but got very rich and sweet, the carrot cake was also great. My server wasn't the most attentive (not sure if it was because I was dining solo). It took a long while before I was able to check out and my server was nowhere to be seen. read more

Went here for high tea and it was fabulous. I've been to other places, but this is the best. I can sit and not talk and just savour every bite of the food that we are served. The portions are a god amount. Personally, I would like to see more savoury items because there were just so many ( delicious) sweets. The scones, although delicious are also sweet so it's like there are two layers of sweet and one layer of savoury items, but aside from that the place was decorated in an Emily Carr theme and it was beautiful! I didn't sit in the restaurant proper, I was in the secret room behind the bookshelf. I love they had that! The restaurant is very chic and modern but when the bookshelf was pushed open you were led into a cozy Winter Cottage. All wood with 'fur' rugs across the back of your chair. It was very chic but rustic and cozy. It was the winter wonderland afternoon tea. I came for the first seating the room quickly filled but it didn't feel crowded. My server, I forgot her name and I really regret that, was fantastic. I was there alone and she made me feel so welcomed I would come back just so that I could have another conversation with her. Was surprised me the most was the diversity of the people at the tee. All ages, and there were a lot of Americans visiting Vancouver for the week having tea just like me The tea changes per the season hence why we had winter wonderland. The food was terrific everything I didn't have a complaint about anything. From the scones to the sandwiches to the desserts. I think my favorite was the gingerbread scone. We had several cocktails but the only one that I remembered to take a photo of was for their Chocolate Orange Fogata ($21) which was really quite excellent! What a beautiful experience to try the Afternoon Tea - Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. We came for their Halloween theme and they really go all out! Start in back where a bookshelf turns into a hidden speakeasy. The decorations are spooky but beautiful. We had 3 guests, one with allergies. A will note, they messed up 3 times so BE DILIGENT. Even when they confirmed that they had it correct, double check. The food was good and there were so many things! Expect leftovers. We stopped in for a drink, appetizer and to enjoy their live music in the lounge. I was Wow'd; the place is gorgeous. The appetizer we had was similar to a deep fried polenta ball with a mushroom cream center, fresh Parmesan shavings and a bath of marinara sauce. My wife had a glass of the house red and she said it was great (which is unusual because we are from one of the best wine regions outside of Europe). I don't drink, but they serve some delicious tap water, our server brought us some tasty complimentary wasabi peas and beer nuts. The live music and everything here was fantastic! We stayed at the Vancouver this time during our little getaway. It was very rainy and cold, so we decided to have our anniversary dinner at the hotel. With the ratings on Yelp, I did not have too high of an expectation, but we were so happy with our food and the overall experience. I ordered the chicken schnitzel dish, and my husband got the pork chop dish with mushroom and pawns. Both dishes were very good portion and delicious, especially the pork chop dish. We've never had a pork chop dish with morel mushroom and prawns together. The flavors definitely matched and complimented each other. The service was also very good and they gave a slice of happy anniversary chocolate cake. We finished our meal with a cup of cream sherry. It was a good anniversary dinner. Come here for the beautiful decor and setting for an elegant high tea experience. It's located inside the Fairmont Hotel behind a secret bookcase that opens into the tea room down a flight of stairs. It's gorgeously decorated in different shade of pink florals cherry blossom theme. The tea sandwiches and desserts were not the highlight for us but the tea room and experience was fun nevertheless. Our selection of teas were delicious as well. I would recommend this for an Instagram and relaxing afternoon catching up with friends. We recently visited for afternoon tea and had a very nice experience. Upon arrival, I loved the speakeasy style door and the autumnal decor. The room was dim, but each table had a sconce for some extra lighting. I really enjoyed the way the tea menu all tied into the autumn theme. Our server did a very nice job explaining what everything was. My one complaint is he did not bring a timer for the tea or give suggestions on brewing time. Everything we had was delicious. We even got a to go box at our server's suggestion to take home the desserts we couldn't finish. I also appreciated that our server offered to take our picture when the food arrived. This was the third Fairmont afternoon tea we've tried, and as usual it was a lovely time. I'd certainly recommend this. read more

I love their restaurant interior decoration, afternoon tea menu, and service. This time, I visited their Chinese New Year themed afternoon tea. Chinese New Year themed Afternoon tea menu: Scones - Almond scone and buttermilk scone with Orange marmalade and sweet cream -I like both, especially, Almond Scone. It reminded me of the Chinese-style almond cookie flavor. I enjoyed it without marmalade or cream. Very tasty! SAVORY: Chinatown BBQ Honey Glazed Pork, Duck Confit, Shrimp and Egg Tart, Curry Puff, Turnip Cake -My favorite was the Honey Glazed Pork. I really enjoyed the Pork Floss, which had a strong glaze flavor. The Duck Confit was lighter than I expected, and the Spicy Shrimp and Egg Tart was delicious. The Curry Puff and Turnip Cake were also very interesting. SWEET: Dragon Ball Cream Puff, Black Sesame Macaron, Opera Cake, Fruit Tart, Pandan Swiss roll -My favorite was the Dragon Ball cream puff. There was a lot of filling in the small cream puff. I could definitely taste the oolong flavor. Then, the black sesame macaron. The Pandan Swiss roll and fruit tart were okay. The least favorite was the Opera cake... I prefer more matcha flavor. We chose Loose Leaf Tea for Lucky Dragon Hyson and Bamboo Temple Yunnan. Every old world style hotel has a signature restaurant. This is the one at the 1939 Fairmont Vancouver. Having a very elegant and sophisticated look, the place feels somewhat elegant yet casual at the same time. It's not a bad combination. We had a comfortable table near the entrance, which was just fine with the quite loud live music coming from the bar area in the back. Service is efficient and professional, and our server was very much hustling to serve his assigned diners. I ordered a Hickory Old Fashioned to start, and it was so well made. It was perfect for the moment. We decided to have the bread course, which is the chef's special brioche style bread, salted on top. It comes with a whipped butter and tomato jam. It is quite delicious. I decided on the pork chop. It comes with a chutney, potatoes, and zucchini salad. The chop was cut and put into slices on the plate. It was extremely succulent and very tender. All of the accomplishments were equally delicious, and I detected a mashed potato as a bed for the zucchini, along with the crispy new potatoes. I also had a local pinot noir that was such a great companion to the pork chop. Overall, the meal was very delicious, and the experience was good, albeit old world style hotel pricey. read more

We came on a Sunday just to have a quick bite in the lounge. We ordered tea, OMG cake and the beef tartare. The beef tartare was chewy and disappointing. The sauce that went with it masked the taste. The brioche bread on it's on was nice and crunchy but overall not a good dish. Wouldn't order it again. The OMG cake is good as always. Very moist and soft. It definitely needs the raspberry sauce on the side to cut through some of the sweetness. I would say it's good to share amongst 4 people even. Overall I love coming to Notch8 because of the ambiance and the service. Service is always top notch and they go above and beyond to please. The food can be a hit or miss. We didn't strike lucky with our seating location which made it a little hard to grab our servers attention since we were at a corner end of the restaurant. Food wise... meh. The burrata appetizer was very interesting with the pear and jelly combination I actually enjoyed that. The rest of our dishes were the scallops in plum jelly, maple glazed rib (way too sweet), mushroom lasagna (too dry), and the chocolate decadence (this was actually good). I love the decorations of the cherry blossom trees all over the high tea room! I loved my Sakura! Sakura! Green tea drink. It smelled sooo good, too. It was very floral and sweet with just a little bit of caffeine. There were lots of bread in the high tea menu but most of them were really good. I really enjoyed the cotton candy cherry blossom tree, which was a nice added touch to the theme! They used dark chocolate as a tree bark to hold up the cotton candy. We had amazing Christmas dinner at the Notch8. I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful hotel was decorated. We stayed at Fairmont Pacific Rim and they told us also to go and check trees at the Fairmont downtown hotel. I was also very happy that i could take pre set menu and my husband wasn't hungry so he just choose the entree dish. I had a appetizer onion tart with salmon which was very good. Then orange refresher and my entree was turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes. Turkey wasn't dry at all and as very delish. I wish presentation was little bit more better ( sauce could be served in separate small plate or something). My husband had nicely roasted river trout. I had creme brulee for dessert. Was fun to see Santa popped out to engage with people. That was very fun. Unfortunately our table was very far from live music but they had some band playing. First time here with other five friends for brunch buffet and our experienced was very good. We had a reservation so we got seated right away. The place was very nice and spacious. Seats are very comfortable to seat with. Staff are very friendly and accommodating and always checked your table and your needs. Food selections were a lot. I wished they had some savouries to go with their drink menu that differs from the dinner menu, like deluxe nuts or local jerky to order.
