The BEST cigar house in Austin, hands down! Their selection is fantastic and we were literally a couple of kids in a candy shop. They carried a lot of cigars that are usually out of stock or overpriced in Los Angeles. Especially the Drew Estate cigars that we like for our daily smoke - fat bottom Betty, acids, surrogates, and even new ones from Drew estate we have never tried before. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and we felt right at home the minute we walked in. We ended up buying 6 cigars each and smoked one there. It's really spacious and was a relaxing smoke for us. We will definitely go back again for more. We chatted with Mark who was at the front and he was really nice and told us they are two locations in Austin which is convenient. Super friendly staff. I don't smoke often, but happened into a good amount of legit Cuban sticks that my gf got while visiting relatives in Cuba. I needed to keep them fresh for a few months so I could hand them out as gifts at a family member's summer wedding. The staff was super helpful, didn't try to oversell me on some high end, high maintenance humidor. I brought in the cigars, explained my situation, they set me up with a box that was a perfect fit, needed very little maintenance, did the job well, and was budget friendly. The cigars were in primo condition for the reception and were a big hit. I recommended Habana House to a bunch of guests at the party and hopefully sent some new customers yall's way. They have a huge selection of the best quality cigars in the area and the prices are right in line with what I am used to in the Miami area. The smoking section is quite comfortable as well. They provide sticks for all pockets and flavors from daily smokes to baller stogies such as davidoffs and padrons. They had some sizes/variances of the casa de Cuba that I haven't tried yet. Anytime I can try a new cigar or size (and yes, the sizes hold different flavors). Pricing. I'm in Calif so everything is affordable except the Davidoffs, they seem to have MSRP across the nation. Location: South Austin. Not a local so I can't comment well on logistics. The lounge is difficult to spot off of Congress so be aware of map settings. Interior: dark, low key with comfy seating. Had a fridge, kitchen table and a half kitchen. Large ashtrays are available so a patron don't have to move to ash. Lighter and cutter set up is up front making babysitters frequently get up. TVs are available but no live sporting on right now so they were off. Will return if I'm in Austin again. First off, I think Habana House has one of the best humidors in Austin, and one of the best selections of cigars. The prices are fine. Not the cheapest, but competitive none the less. And most of the employees are great. I really want to love this place, but 9 times out of 10, they just leave me frustrated and annoyed. So what's the problem with this place? A few of the employees (or part time store watchers) are ruining the business. Unreliable hours. When you have hours posted at the establishment and on the website, you should really try to adhere to those hours. I can't even count how many times I've made the trip to Habana House, only to discover that they've closed early. Another time I went in, walked inside (because the door was unlocked and the open sign on, and according to their listed hours they were still open) only to be greeted by a surprised employee, sitting reading a book... who proceeds to tell me that they are closed. And When I asked if I could just buy one cigar.. already knew what I wanted.. I was told "sorry, no... we're closed... forgot to turn off the Open sign" Obviously, the lazy employee had closed down the cash register, and resigned himself to the fact that nobody else was going to buy anything that night. With Ruta Maya's hours, it seems like it would only make sense to stay open later, as there are plenty of people that would be willing to buy cigars later in the night. In fact, I think Habana House has a unique opportunity to be one of the few humidors in the area to take advantage of people who would buy cigars after 10 or 11. Especially given the fact that Whipin and so many other establishment's hours are governed by liquor laws, preventing them from selling cigars after 9pm. I have to wonder if the owner of Habana House has any idea that his/her employees frequently close so early? Do they tell him/her it was "really slow" or something? when in fact they are turning customers away? In an economy where it's so hard to get a job, I'm simply amazed that there are still so many establishments or employees that just don't care... and can't even be bothered to stay open when they say they will be. read more

Went to Habana House for the first time Saturday. Their selection is awesome. I found several cigars that I could not find anywhere else in Austin. The owner (I think) knew it was my first time there and gave me 10% off of their already fair prices. The lounge is nice but very small which makes for a smokey atmosphere. You can walk into Ruta Maya and get drinks too which is a plus. I would have given them 5 stars if they had a bigger lounge. read more

I wanted to share my current favorite cigar supplier. One word: Reliable. The Habana is with a B, not V as in Havana, probably done on purpose (If not, I have a vintage 1999 truck I can sell to them for a million bucks, I'll pay shipping). They have low prices, reliable customer service, and huge selections. Most important, the cigars are not dried out when they reach your door step. Over the past 10 months, they have earned my trust enough for me to email back saying "If out of stock please send whatever you see fit for the price" (They call back though to confirm before shipping). Brand names: I like CAO, Trinidad, Macanudo and Arturo Fuente. Non-Brand name: Small cigars- I like La Aroma De Cuba (Affordable with nice flavor, with a name like that I was skeptical but wow!). I smoke mostly small cigars out of convenience (What's that? Yea, I don't have much money to spend on expensive cigars...). These cigalliros are fantastic, no harshness, just smooth. The name brand cigalliros were all harsh with the exception of Montecristo white's (expensive). Large cigars- La Aroma De Cuba is still tops for the price. Albeit it lacks the intoxicating aroma of some of the name brand's but it's pretty smooth for once every 2~3 days habit. For special occasions definitely go with Macanudos or Arturo Fuentes (Or Montecristo No. 2 when the $300+ box is on sale for $149!).
